Our new favorite…read more Coming from a larger international city with a huge selection of asian mega-grocery stores, we've been pretty disappointed by the options in this area. We've tried a couple of the local shops over the years and were mostly turned off. But recently, when we got a hankering for some homemade curries, marinades, stir fries, and such, we went on the hunt for something better and finally stumbled on Dinosaur. They aren't really "supermarket" huge, but far larger then the shops we've tried in the area. Plenty of shelf staples from a variety of cuisines, at decent prices. And a good selection of meats and produce that you won't find in the Winn-Dixies, Publixes, or Whole Foods in the area, and you can't simply order shipped from Amazon. As a "foody tourist" in a shop like this, I'm not entirely self sufficient. I can tell my galangal from my ginger, and my choy sum from my bok choy, but I still get lost trying to find or identify some things. The shopkeeper there keeps busy managing her store, and I don't expect her to play "tour guide," but she does try to be helpful and work past the language barrier when I come up with questions. The place is clean and pretty well organized considering the wide variety of foods and countries that are represented. A gold mine of exotic foods we can't find anywhere else.

I've started cooking more of my culture's cuisine so it's nice to have more options in the Jax area. I love that they offer a food court right inside and every month they host an Asian Night Market outside in their parking lot. A few things they could improve on; offering a wider selection of their fresh/live seafood such as wild caught fish and shrimp. And lastly, the meat section could look fresher (not old dingy meat.)

It looks much smaller from the outside but it actually has quite a bit of product. I was looking for some specific cheese and they did have it. They also have lots of different pirogies, cheeses, frozen treats, candy, ice cream, breads, frozen as well as cured meats and a large selection of canned, bottled, and shelf stable products. The lady at the counter was very nice and I found a couple items to try and to re-stock. I would definitely return!

They have a good selection of grocery items that should appeal to looking for treats from Europe. The staff here was friendly enough and the market itself had a no-frills type atmosphere, but it was pleasant enough wandering through the aisles. I was also happy to see they carried products from Schmalz's, a New Jersey based sausage maker. Schmalz's makes a wonderful German style hot dog. I really am impressed with not only this European grocer, but the multiple European grocers located in Jacksonville, Florida. They have a strong emphasis on products from eastern Europe and offer a great variety of items that you will not find at your local Winn-Dixie, Publix, Walmart or other supermarkets. Overall, I will give here five stars overall and it definitely has my recommendation.

Interesting Asian market. They have a good selection of fruits, vegetables, meats. I was bummed to…read morefind so few options for ready broth bags (like for nabe or hot pot) and that they are refrigerated instead of in dry goods, makes stocking up hard. I'd also love to see little ready to grab nabe/hot pot veggie packs. I'm surprised the owners are sleeping on such an easy revenue stream: the broth bags go next to the hot pot meat, maybe above them. Then you grab meat, broth, and pop over to produce to grab your veggie pack. Dinner is basically done, or in your back pocket. H-mart and Tokyo Central both have almost that exact setup. Overall though, pretty good spot for Korean or Indian supplies. The checkout lady was kind of rude. Her friend wasn't done bagging our groceries and she went ahead and started the next person, so their groceries were flowing right down to ours. Just wait the 1 minute for the current customer's transaction to actually be finished, they will leave I promise.

They have fresh baked goods such as pita, sesame bagel (huge), cookies and starting after Thanksgiving from Fri.-Sun. their grill section is suppose to start offering hot foods like shawarma (like a stuffed pita pocket). Thru out the store are imported items (canned, jarred and packages) you would be hard pressed to find else where! I have bought fresh spinach pies, dried spices, dried bulgar wheat (for tabouli), cookies here. English is spoken but you may need to slow it down..lol (not louder)! They have expanded into other shops that had closed so they be getting a following! It seems there are regulars who come and they speak their native language which is cool as far as I'm concerned!

The selection is extensive from pantry staples to specialty imports you won't find anywhere else locally. The pickles alone are worth the trip crisp, garlicky, and perfectly tangy (true Polish style). The full deli offers a great variety of fresh meats and cheeses, along with fresh-baked bread and a rotating selection of pastries and pierogi. If you're going for pierogi, Fridays seem to be the best time to catch them fresh. You'll also find everything from mustards and preserves to a well-stocked frozen section, butter, traditional pickled goods, and a solid selection of Polish beer, wine, and liqueurs. Don't skip the chocolate aisle the sweets selection is dangerously good. Whether you're Polish and craving a taste of home or just love exploring international markets, this spot is absolutely worth a visit.

Avoid this store! Don't waste your time and money on it. They sell food that either doesn't have a…read moredate on it, or is expired (in this case they would place a sticker over the best before date so you can't see it). I bought a box of chocolates and the filling was crumbling and tasted stale. It is supposed to be soft, creamy and smooth when it's fresh. No best before date was visible anywhere on the box. This is an illegal practice and should be either corrected immediately or reported to the authorities. The store itself looks so-so, with some shelves being half-empty, which looks like a provincial shop in a third-world country. The selection of products is very poor compared to other russian stores I've been to in New York, Dallas, TX, West Hartford, CT, etc. I don't see why I would go to this store again selection-wise. I wanted to buy some russian marshmallows and they were wet in the package - you could see some sort of a liquid on top of the marshmallows, right under the clear plastic package. Also, when I entered the store, I was almost knocked down by the cigarette stench. This was a HUGE drawback as you normally don't expect a food store being filled with cigarette odor and have all the food absorb it. This is quite uninviting. I was happy to leave the store and get some fresh air! The staff is friendly, however, and this is why I'm giving two stars instead of one.
