The Rebel "French Dip"*
Natalie R.

Recommend by a local and I ended up loving this place! The vibe is fresh and bright with healthier salad, sandwich and wrap options. Tons of seating inside and outside too. Food is delivered fast, within about 5-10 minutes after ordering at the counter. Staff here is friendly, patient and helpful when someone who can't decide between all of the options is in front of them. :) I ordered "the rebel" French dip and loved every bite of it. I especially loved the little side salad that came with it that I wasn't expecting. The French dip itself was savory, tender, flavorful and the horseradish added the perfect "kick" to the wrap. I'd definitely order it again but there were also so many other things that I'd try on the menu! I'll stop back every time I'm in Arizona because it's worth the trip to try everything that looks so yummy!

Mother Earth

We really enjoyed stopping here for lunch the other day. Flower Child is nestled in the Uptown Plaza and was quite busy when we arrived. You order first and take a seat -- your food will be brought to you. There are cute coloring sheets and crayons available when you walk in if you have children. Our food was delivered relatively quickly: the mother earth bowl with chicken, chicken enchiladas and the chicken with yakisoba. All dishes were well balanced, delicious and fresh. I really loved the different parts of the Mother Earth bowl -- everything balanced each other out well and was so tasty whichever way you mixed it up! I do wish the entrance wasn't so close to where you ordered -- because it's so busy, the line blocks the doors making it challenging to enter and exit. Besides this, no complaints here! Definitely try this place out if you haven't already.

Turkey Wrap
Gayl B.

I ordered takeout from here for the first time but it won't be the last time! The turkey avocado wrap was delicious. Just the right amount of all ingredients. I didn't feel as if I needed to add additional avocado. I also enjoyed the side greens that came with it. The dressing was yummy. I'm looking forward to trying other items on their menu.

Tofu with sweet corn quinoa and gluten free mac & cheese

I highly suggest you go to their official website and sign up for their free E Bites program. It's a fantastic deal that gives you $10 off any order that is $20 or more. I wanted some extra food for later so I ordered a yellowfin tuna poke, a tofu plate with gluten free mac & cheese and sweet quinoa corn, a chocolate almond brownie, and an ice tea. With the E bites discount, this cost me $33.49. Their entrees are customizable in that you pick a protein and pick two of their thirteen sides. Their tofu was so soft and delicious, the sweet corn was delectable and the mac and cheese was tasty. I think my least favorite part was the scallions. The chocolate brownie was decadently amazing and they have a great selection of teas to choose from. The service was patient and amiable. Overall, the dishes are so tasty and there's a lot of sides to try with each visit.

Mother Earth Bowl with steak.
Niya B.

I had the Mother Earth Bowl with steak, and all I can say is--wow! Everything was incredibly flavorful, from the broccoli pesto to the roasted sweet potatoes with that delightful sauce. I'm usually not a big fan of arugula, but it worked so cohesively with the rest of the ingredients. My bowl came to $20 after tax, and because it was so nourishing and delicious, it felt well worth the price. I'll definitely be back tomorrow!

What's still in my bowl after diving in to all that flavor!

The food is absolutely delicious, service is super friendly, and the atmosphere is fun and casual. My favorite is the chicken bowl with mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli with garlic Parmesan breadcrumbs. It's healthy, and affordable for everyone.

Yellowfin tuna, sushi rice, snap pea, scallion, cucumber salad, pickled ginger, avocado, furikake, yuzu ponzu
Joy T.

Great location. Great dining room & patio. Here for lunch, take out. I tried the yellow fin tuna poke. Born & raised in Hawaii, I know poke. Very little furikake, could have used more rice, more everything, as it did not look like a hefty amount in the picture advertised. But it was tasty. And Flower Child is always a happy place for me so I can't be too sad in trying something new here. Very busy but that's to be expected. I always find myself returning. And will.

Tea & Lemonade Self Serve
Stephanie V.

I had a good first visit to Flower Child while shopping in Uptown Plaza on Saturday. I was greeted warmly when I first walked in, from the order counter, which is near the entrance. I noticed they have an outdoor to-go Dutch door set up, but they didn't have it open on Saturday. Once I ordered, I was given a number and told I could sit anywhere I would like for dine-in service. There are lots of tables and booths to choose from. I choose one of the booths along the window, and my food was brought to me. I ordered: - Rose Petal Lemonade - Chicken Enchiladas Both are very good and tasty. The enchiladas really filled me up and had fresh avocado and a smoky creamy sauce with some beans, but not too many. Everything was nice and fresh. The lemonade wasn't too sweet, but they had a water dispenser near the lemonade and iced tea if you want to dilute it. I almost got dessert because they looked very tempting near the order counter, but the server mentioned that they were all gluten-free. I think this is a great option normally but I can't have rice, so I avoided the muffins and pastries. Good to know if you are on a gluten-free or you are celiac-sensitive. When finished eating, my plate was taken by a server who was walking the floor monitoring dishes. There's a deep shaded patio near the front entrance. There are two gender- neutral restrooms for customers. I enjoyed my Saturday lunch out and about.

Glow Bowl
Shell J.

It was a great find and the perfect spot to spend a few hours before my flight. The menu offers plenty of healthy options, featuring ancient grains, fresh greens, and a variety of protein choices. We ordered the Glow Bowl with extra chicken, the Mother Earth, and a kombucha--everything looked beautiful and tasted fantastic. I was especially impressed by the broccoli pesto and the red pepper miso vinaigrette in the Mother Earth. The vibe is super relaxed, with a young, friendly crowd and welcoming staff. Highly recommend!

Petra V.

Always have a great experience here and we always enjoy our food! There's a specific employee that when he's on the register we love it because he's always so bubbly and kind. The place itself is pretty big and there's plenty of sitting options inside and outside. I love their bowls and it's definitely a healthier option.

Mother Earth
Jorey C.

I love flower child and all its locations, they're all pretty similar honestly which is good because that means there's quick good service at all of them! The food literally came out in under five minutes - it also wasn't that busy at 6:30 on a Thursday but still! Very clean.... Also super cold, had to wear a jacket in the Arizona July summer. I switched it up and went with the Mother Earth bowl switch out the ancient grains for brown rice to make it gluten free. It was tasty! I know this is a favorite of customers so I wanted to try it myself. I usually mix everything together when I have bowls but I wanted to keep these elements separate this time since there are so many flavors - I wanted to savor each element. I did mix the broccoli pesto with the rice and arugula which was tasty. The mushroom had great umami and Asian flavors which does go nicely with the diced cucumber salad. The sweet potato with the red pepper miso was chefs kiss and the avocado was a nice smooth finish. I didn't add protein because I wasn't as hungry but always a good touch to add protein. I usually get my favorite the forbidden rice bowl which slaps every time and it's still a favorite but I felt adventurous today.

Shrimp Fra Diavolo
Chris A.

Been coming to Flower Child for a while now, and just about every one of their dishes that I've tried has been delicious. However, the majority of this review is specifically aimed at their new dish: Shrimp Fra Diavolo. In my opinion, this is the best thing to come out in a while. As someone who likes to eat healthier, this dish is the one. The amount of flavor in this is incredible, especially for being a lower-calorie meal. Highly recommend checking this out, along with the chicken kabob and chicken yakisoba plates. Besides that, the service is always friendly, this location is always clean and inviting. I really enjoy myself each time I dine here.

Food was kinda bland this visit- and it was all cold....Bummer
Jacque C.

We always usually enjoy Flower Child- great food with healthy ingredients. Today, unfortunately things weren't as they usually are. The food wasn't as tasty for some reason, just kinda bland. And, I consistently get the same thing- today it wasn't nearly as good and it was COLD. The whole meal felt barely warm- I did return the sweet potato fries due to being so cold. Perhaps there was an issue with their warming tray or heat lamps or something. Even, my hubby was commenting on everything being cold. Everyone has an Off Day- I just hope it isn't a trend. Today they lost their Consistency Card with us....Damn that sucks.

All broccoli, no potatoes. Basically a broccoli bowl

We sat on the patio which I love, they had misters on and it was fantastic. My only critique is that I hate the bathroom situation. It was the atmosphere, attention to detail, and outstanding customer service that made this place special. The attached ice cream shop was simply the cherry on top. Unfortunately, something has gone seriously downhill over the past few visits. The once well-oiled machine has become disorganized, careless, and seemingly indifferent to the customer experience. Orders are incorrect, staff seem scattered, and the attention to detail that once set this establishment apart has all but disappeared. Even more disappointing is the apparent lack of effective management. Mistakes happen, but when they become a pattern and no one seems capable of addressing them, the problem goes beyond the staff. It points to a failure in leadership, training, and accountability. You can have a great atmosphere and a charming concept, but neither can compensate for consistently poor service and management that seems disconnected from the problems. We supported this establishment for many years, which makes walking away particularly disappointing. However, loyalty works both ways. I refuse to continue spending my time and money at a place that no longer seems to value the customers who helped make it successful. It's unfortunate to watch a neighborhood favorite lose its identity, but when customer service becomes an afterthought, loyal customers eventually become former customers.

Fried chicken alone had great flavor and didn't need the side sesame dressing at all. It was a bit dry despite being thin. The pickled veggies were a nice palate cleanser. Unfortunately, I have the same qualms for flavor for their dishes. I tried the short rib pot stickers, the tortilla soup, and the Bolognese pasta. I would say that the flavors were not especially strong for each dish. I think they each needed a pinch of extra seasoning to really make their flavors pop! Moreover, I tried my girlfriend's Rigatoni Alla Vodka and the cheese had no taste! Nevertheless, the dishes were beautiful. Lastly, I had a bit of an issue with our service. I think I'm to the point where I only feel it's worth coming when you can sit outside - I prefer tables along the entry walkway which are picnic tables, and that level of casual really doesn't match up with the price dinner menu, so by that logic, it's boils down to worth it for happy hour. My main issue with the dining room, ever since my first time there, is the acoustics. There's always one loud table (if not more) and something about the building just amplifies it. I feel exhausted after eating there from having to shout to converse, and thereby also needing to keep topics of conversation pretty shallow. Also, a more recent phenomena is the portion sizes have become enormous. We most recently did the Arizona Restaurant Week menu, I tried to come with a big appetite for multiple courses. I opted for the ahi tuna small plate for the first course (for something more interesting than a salad but less substantial than the very large chicken wings that come with potatoes), the shrimp pesto tagliatelle for the second, and the chocolate cake dessert. The tuna would have been a suitable dinner; knowing there were still 2 courses to come, I had to call it quits before finishing. I managed a few bites of pasta and took the rest home, along with half the cake dessert. It made for a nice dinner the following night, although still went not entirely finished! Secondary to being mind blown by the portion size, yes everything was delicious. The happy hour dishes I've most enjoyed (these rotate a few times a year) include the various flautas, the eggplant meatballs, sun-dried strawberry and ricotta spread on grilled bread (bring this back!). The charred sweet potato, grilled chicken wings (with potatoes), and smoked beets are pretty good as well. I look forward to focusing my return visits on this menu!
