Ok so bare with me this will be a little long ... So yesterday afternoon we came to celebrate my cousins birthday with a late brunch we went to another spot first and it was nothing like was advertised on social media so we took our coins else where and landed in this beautiful gem ! Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff with smiles and great energy we were a group of 4 but started with 2 and that sat us immediately and let us know they would seat our other guest close as they could once they arrived . Our server Tess was amazing !! Such a sweet soul very detail oriented made sure our glasses were always full checked on us throughout and we just had great conversation whenever she came by . Delivered everything with a smile and we're needy guest lol The rest of our party arrived at around 6:15 and the kitchen was closing however Chef Niki still tried to accommodate with making what she could which was sooo appreciated I had the southern fried chicken biscuit the birthday girl had shrimp and grits and when I say DELICIOUS!!! I'm a chef so I know great food and that food was made with love!!! Bottomless mimosas were great and the homemade lemonade!!! I swear my mom made it . Called ahead of time to confirm closing time. Told me the last seating was 7:30, arrived at 7pm and when I walked in, two workers gave us an annoyed expression and walking back into the kitchen. The server who I just talked to 30mins prior then told us the kitchen was closed and they're no longer taking customers. Even outside the restaurant they had a sign saying that the last seating was at 7:30 because the kitchen closes at 8pm. They closed a whole hour early. read more

The food was definitely not bad, but the service was. Let's start from the beginning... when we first walked in, we were told that we would be seated momentarily and we could see multiple empty tables so figured maybe they'd just take a second to clean and then have us seated. So we sat and waited... for like 15 min before they even let us sit down. Okay, strange but not crazy. Then, it got even worse. After ordering, we patiently waited and waited for our food, until it got to the point where it was becoming excessive. At that point, the lady working there (who seemed to be one of the only people doing anything at the restaurant) began to continuously reassure us that our food would be out shortly every couple min. At first, it put us at ease, but after the 5th or 6th time of saying this, it had been an hour since we ordered, and the food was still not there! If the food is gonna be so slow, then at least just apologize for the slow service rather than lying to us that it would be coming out "in a few min" every few min! We were already running late, so at that point just asked if we could get the check to pay for our drinks and leave, but finally she went into the kitchen and our food arrived. Because it was so late, we were forced to scarf down the food in only a few min. And the food itself was not even that complicated - I could've probably made something similar in 10 min. That being said, the Banana Baby Stuffed French Toast ($18) was decent with soft bread and some tasty banana filling and the Strawberry Passionfruit Lemonade ($6) was decent as well. The place is kind of small but has some cute Carribean-inspired decor all over. But that did not make up for the service speed... At the end of the day, unless you have way too much time on your hands and are willing to wait an hour for your food, I simply cannot recommend Flamingobaby Kitchen. I would much rather just make my own French toast at home than wait hungrily here while being lied to with no apologies. I'm from LA and I was looking for a good soul food spot while visiting NYC. My friends told me about this place I am very happy that they did. The environment is friendly, the service is great and that makes the food taste that much more better. I had the jerk chicken, candy yams and a side of baked mac & cheese. It was out of this world. I also had a glass of mango and pineapple lemonade and it was by far the best lemonade I've ever had. There are millions of places to eat in New York City but is definitely one I would recommend. They explained the ordering rules. Everything is cooked fresh to ordered after it will be a wait so know what you want. I had a pineapple ginger drink very good, ginger wasn't overpowering & was the right amount of sweetness. Order the french toast w/blueberry compote so yummy. Cheese eggs were a lil greasy in my opinion. One thing that almost rattled my experience the staff had an incident with a potential guest & her party size. What a lovely and cute place! Came here for brunch on a Saturday shortly before 12 and were seated right away. After reading the reviews we were prepared to wait for our food, which they also mention in their menu. It took about 40-45 minutes, which didn't seem unreasonable and we also got unlimited mimosas so we were enjoying ourselves. The food was awesome. The fried chicken is so good, juicy, crispy, flavorful! The banana french toast is incredible, the filling was banana-heavy, I wish it had some creamy flavor as well. The mac and cheese was creamy and gooey but I wish it had a bit more flavor. The service was excellent! One of the best brunch places in the area and we will definitely return! read more

I've had this place bookmarked for a while and was super excited to finally check it out! I don't believe they take reservations but when we went around 1pm on a Saturday we were able to snag a table with about a 15 min wait. Like others mentioned, be prepared for superrr slow service and workers who have no desire to be there. We stood by the hostess desk for a good 10 min before anyone even acknowledged us. It also took a while for our orders to be taken and for food to come out. We also had to ask for basic things like water and a clean fork. Let's break down the food now: Coffee: hard pass. Super bitter Cod fish fritters: this was a special for the day. Very tasty and well seasoned. Came with duck sauce? Mac & cheese: this was pretty good. Had good flavor and nice presentation Pancakes: decent, gets the job done. Chicken sausage: what you expect lol I will say the chicken and waffles looked really good and although we didn't order it, those that did were basically licking their plates clean. Stopped by this gem for brunch. The crew at FBK were so accommodating. The spot itself is very cozy, but that's what makes it special. Our waitress Veronica was super attentive and kind. This restaurant was highly recommended to me by a friend. I have to be honest, I wasn't very impressed. Here's my breakdown: Food: 9/10- everything was delicious and I can't complain here. This is the only thing that would make me consider coming back. Service: 4/10- very overwhelmed staff and very frazzled. They were at least polite though, but everything just seemed to be RUSHED and they took long to serve you as well. There was no middle ground if you understand what I mean. Either too rushed or too slow. Establishment: It was ok. But I don't understand why my menu was so crumpled. It looked like it had seen better days. I really didn't appreciate a crumpled menu. Quaint spot with good food and excellent service. I was greeted by 2 lovely young ladies that did everything. They bussed, bartended, and did the waitressing. I think the restaurant is fairly new but it was delightful. They had a combination of brunch items and dinner options. I elected to go for the jerk chicken dinner and it was a winner. I had a red sangria made with love. They also had an array of juices. I wanted to try the pineapple and ginger, but maybe next time. They also offer to spike any of their juices. This spot was on my list for a while so I was so excited to go and have a girlfriend brunch here. The place is very small but I did not feel cramped when seated. There was a little bit of a wait to be seated but the hostesses were very gracious. They did inform us that one of the empty tables was being used for busing dishes. It struck me as a little strange to give up seating that could be used for a paying/waiting customer to dirty dishes and glasses but ok... Be prepared to wait. They say it on their menu when they ask for understanding around taking time to create fresh food. It's in multiple reviews but it does take a long time to get your meal. I came here on a whim at around 2pm. We were the first people there so it seemed like they were just opening. The staff sat us down & I ordered the strawberry passionfruit lemonade. After giving that a taste, I knew the food would be good at the least. We were made aware by the waiter (shoutout to Demmoy, he was great and had wonderful every!) that the food would take a while since it was made to order, but we were fine with that. The waffles were on the fluffy and cake-ish side, no crunch. But it was good and love the berries on top. For chicken & waffles it is pricey at $23 a plate. Like other reviews stated, get ready to wait & be okay with slow service. From sitting down to getting a glass of water to getting food to getting bill... It took awhile. Bring the kids and sit outside for a great Al fresco experience. The Banana French Toast is beyond... probably enough for two kids or at least a big kid and a few adult samples. I thought about giving this place 3 stars but the more I thought about it and slept on it, I can only give them 1. The wait time was an hour. I went to a bar nearby to kill some time and came back after exactly an hour. The host verbatim mentions "where'd you go?" Then proceeded to mention she would seat me and my partner shortly. Meanwhile, it's been an hour since our first initial wait time. We then wait another 30 min. We finally get seated after an hour and a half. For this the food better be good, or at least I hope. Fast forward to the food, it was mid at best. Not worth the wait or money. After waiting so long I was super hungry so I got the chicken and waffles. The fried chicken left much to be desired. It was totally bland, over cooked, dry and flavorless. The waffles were gummy and tasted like nothing. I was expecting a crunchy outside and soft inside. They were horrible! If you're gonna have tasteless waffles at least have maple syrup to compliment a bit of taste. But I digress. I also ordered a "sweet tea." Needless to say it was a powdered sweet tea that you make and get from your local market. There was nothing brewed or sweet about it. The only good thing was the Mac and cheese. We just had brunch there today. A little bit of a wait, it was a Sunday and brunch time, but 1000% worth the wait. The staff from the person who greets you to waiters to I believe was the manager of the place were welcoming, patient and fun. The music was perfection the food out of control. We had the very berry french toast, succulent, the sweet potato fries light and crunchy, the country fried ham salty enough to combine well with the sweetness of the very berry. FlamingoBABY Kitchen is a fun brunch place to visit in Park Slope with cute Caribbean vibes to it. My friends and I came here to celebrate our friend's birthday and it was cute. FlamingoBABY Kitchen's ambiance is fun, tropical, and flirty & has a cute outdoor seating area with hanging pink flowers. My friends and I ordered a side of Codfish Fritters and a Small side of Mac & Cheese, which were delicious but nothing special about them. The Codfish was mostly doughy and barely had any codfish in it. The Mac and Cheese looked delicious from previous Yelp review photos but ours didn't look or taste that special other than the cilantro on top and wasn't consistently cheesy throughout. Even the Strawberry Cheesecake pancakes was different from what I imagined it to be. I thought it was going to be more like a cheesecake but FlamingoBABY Kitchen was a little too literal and lacked creativity with putting melted cheese between each pancake stack and drizzled it with strawberry syrup and whip butter. Lastly the service wasn't really the best. My friends and I could tell that the staff were highly stressed with getting orders wrong for other costumers and they took a good long while to prepare our food, which didn't add to the experience. In all reality, I wish I could've given this restaurant a higher rating but I don't think I can this time around. But I would love to visit and give it a second chance the next time I'm in Park Slope! read more

This is such a hidden gem located a few minutes away from The Brooklyn Library and the Brooklyn museum. I don't go many places with zero complaints but this is one of them. This restaurant is so cute and cozy with a beautiful outdoor patio views of beautiful brownstones and store fronts. It is pretty small but I loved it. Everything ordered was perfection. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and a side of Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was amazing !!!! I pride myself on making the best Mac and Cheese but this stopped me in my tracks. It was not only the perfect amount of creamy and cheesy but it was seasoned so well. The chicken and waffles were also a hit. The waffles were perfect... the chicken had so much flavor in every bite. I can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu. We also opted into the bottomless mimosas which was definitely worth it! One pitcher gave us a little over 10 mimosas. Throughout our meal we had exceptional service provided by all of the staff but I would love to shoutout our server, Demmoy. I met up with a good friend at Flamingo baby kitchen, a small southern+caribbean diner in Park slope. I called ahead because I heard the weekend brunch wait can be crazy. *I had the biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs because if a menu has biscuit and gravy on it, I have to try. *My friend had the Cobb salad, a side mac+cheese ,and a side of greens. The mimosas were hitting. Reese was an awesome host she even put the game ( it's the playoffs and I have to keep an eye on my parlays) on for us. And we ordered the cod fish fritters, it was very flavorful. This made us very excited for our entrees! I ordered chicken and waffles - the fried chicken was seasoned very well and the waffles were fluffy and topped with powdered sugar, blueberries and strawberries. My friend ordered a burger with fires, in which she enjoyed. The burger patty was seasoned well, once you take a few bites, you'll see onions and peppers inside. We also ordered a side of mac and cheese, ooey gooey! The chefs definitely put their foots into these dishes! For drinks, I had the tropical mimosa and pine & ginger juice. Both yummy. My friend ordered the strawberry passionfruit lemonade, in which she said was good, but was little disappointed there wasn't much strawberry in the drink (you'll see in the photos). It's the first time I was ever asked if I wanted eggs soft or hard.... I took soft. Those eggs were great and I thoroughly enjoyed the way the plate was put together with the Turkey bacon rose in it. I would've shown you it but I scarfed it down. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his breakfast as well especially the grits. I had to try to get a to go bag.... The boys and I were in the neighborhood looking for a new breakfast spot. As we entered we noticed the size of the restaurant, it was a little off putting but we decided to give a try. Good the thing we did, what this place lacks in square footage it makes up in taste and flavor.
