Stellas is a spot I have wanted to try. I pass by it often and it always looks grounded. Went there for a celebratory dinner and left unsatisfied. Meh...was hoping to like it. However. The experience was not the best. Music was too loud, service was off and worst of all for a group of 12 our food was cold. 5 of our dishes was cold. Eventhough they came out of the kitchen different times. The drinks were decent as well. The appetizers were cool, but the main dishes lacked the spices and flavors of the carribbean in my opinion.

Absolutely delicious! We tried the vegetable roti and the chickpea curry. Both dishes were good, but the roti was my favorite - full of deliciously spices vegetables and smothered in a curry sauce. The chickpeas were also delicious and had a different seasoning profile from the roti. Prices were also super inexpensive at $51 with tax and tip, with plenty of food for two. Totally worth it!

01/24/2025 Another amazing meal consumed. The passionfruit Margarita was yummy and strong. The corn soup spoke to my soul especially on a cold winter evening. The ackee tostones were yummy. But the star for me was the curried crab tostones. The flavors that danced on the tongue was sublime. For mains we had the curry shrimp and fish. I had the escovitch delicious as always. However, they now have a healthier version. Garlic butter roast fish. OMG I wished I had ordered. It was well seasoned and delicious. That definitely will be my choice next time. As always amazing staff which made our dining experience that much better.

I went here for a friend's birthday brunch/dinner. It was a group of 10 of us so we had the downstairs space all to ourselves. It was a little....drafty down there but the music wasn't too loud so we were able to gather and chat without yelling at each other. The service was good, no complaints. And the food was actually really good! I had the cod fish fritters and it was soooo good. And the oxtail surprised me because sometimes, restaurants can be hit or miss with it. The oxtail was flavorful, not fatty, had good meat pieces and the rice was cooked well. I would go back to try their bottomless brunch!

Stella's is high on my list of best West Indian restaurants in Brooklyn. This is a small location in park slope Brooklyn but the food is one of the best. If you ask me I always compare food and will end my statement with Stella's tastes better. ‍ Every time I go the customer service is always on point from timely placing my order to appetizers arriving and then entrées arriving. This restaurant has the best bread pudding that I have ever had and the ice cream with it just tops everything!!!! Head over to Stella's and believe me you will be happy with your meal

Everything about the experience was top notch! From the time our group walked in and Beres (IYKYK) greeted us, the vibe check was ! We were promptly seated and taken care of with thee best service. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, answered our questions, and ever so graciously interacted with our group! Two people in our group had been here before, while it was the first time for three of us. I'm a frequent solo diner but was so appreciative that this 1st experience was with a group. We ordered a little bit of everything and I must admit, I almost missed out on one of the best patties I've had! To drink, I had a half and half (sorrel & ginger beer), and it did not disappoint! Not only meh item, E V E R T H I N G that everyone ordered was delicious and believe me because I tasted it! Oh... and we bought out all the patties to/go! I will certainly be back so I can have a go and add the additional star by having a cocktail. The chefs/owner came to our table and greeted us with officially elevated the experience to Chefs kiss! Oh and I got a lil home decor idea!

This is a cute little spot . We were seated quickly as we had a reservation. Our server was sweet and I got the shrimp roti and it was so so good. It was flavored to the sauce to the shrimp . It was just so good . The vibes were nice it's just a really good Caribbean spot . I look forward to going again !

Have i found a replacement for negril bk? Hmm.... I visited on a Thursday afternoon maybe 10 mins after they opened at 4pm. It took atleast 5 mins for someone to greet us. Eventually he emerged from the back and said you can sit anywhere. Once seated the menu looked really good. I took my brother out for his birthday,we chose to order a few small plates to get a feel for the spot . We did the curry crab tostones 10/10 Salmon crab balls 8/10 Ackee tostones 9/10 Sweet Chili tamarind wings 8/10 Geerah fries 8/10 I ordered some mix drink from the happy hour menu it was tasty. The server was friendly. The food was seasoned and presented well. However the service was a little slow considering it was us and 2 other tables. They played caribbean music which was nice. Id come back for the tostones and to try more food off the menu. But I didnt feel a vibe. I dont know if id come here to just chill and unwind. The server did bring out a bread pudding with a candle on it for my brother that was a nice touch.

Great food and stellar service! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted friendly by staff and seated promptly. The jerk chicken had just the right amount of spice. Loved everything!

Came here from a recommendation on one of my weekly podcast, Getting Grown. Was in the area for a show and was the perfect opportunity. Overall service was great and attentive. The menu is not overwhelming at all. The space is cute a lil narrow but does the job. Food we shared appetizers; cod fritters, mussels, and ackee tostones. All great flavor loved the dip the fritters came in. The tostones twist was great, we would suggest like a sauce on top drizzled with some spice for the final punch. Main course: oxtail with rice and peas. Was def a hefty plate of pxtails had leftovers. Great flavor nice and hot. Cocktail tried the Gingalee! Had a lick to it and strong.

Stella's is back!!!! Boy have we missed you guys! Stopped by with my son, fiancé, and mom on a Sunday, where you can get dinner or bottomless brunch until 5. They were very accommodating providing us with a high chair. And they treat everyone like family. You can tell that they were greatly missed, whenever a customer walked in. The food and drinks did not disappoint per usual. We had festival, mussels and crab/salmon balls for apps, oxtail w/ rice and peas, curry chicken with coconut rice, chicken and waffles, for entrees and rum punches. Definitely stop by and show your support! You'll leave stuffed and satisfied!

It was sort of an odd time so the spacious restaurant wasn't very busy. We studied the menu for too long and after much deliberation, here's what we ordered, in order of spice level: - Oxtail ($35): Not spicy, super flavorful, "Trimmed and sliced chunks of oxtail seasoned freely with fresh spices and simmered to tender perfection." - Curry goat ($29): Mildly spicy, "Goat meat marinated and cooked in curry spices and herbs makes this an exotic dish." - Jerk chicken ($20): Apparently incredibly spicy so I steered clear of it, "A Jamaican delight. Spicy, delicious chicken baked with this unique combination of spices from the island." The dishes I could handle were excellent, with no drop of sauce left unmopped. On the sides front, the rice and beans, roti, steamed vegetables, and plantains were all tasty. The entree sizes were hearty. Our server seemed like a cool dude: easygoing with a sense of humor. It was kind of chilly in the restaurant, not sure if we were in a warmth dead zone or what. The bathroom was frog-themed which was a cute touch!

For apps, we got the curry crab gyoza which was a very small portion (6/10) and the roasted mushroom truffle flatbread which was the highlight of the meal (8.5/10). For mains, we tried the biang biang Rasta noodles with salmon (6/10) and the sofrino roasted chicken (5/10). Both were a bit underwhelming. I've heard their drinks are great but we didn't try any. For my hubby, Brooklyn is home - and we always love exploring the new places the city has to offer when we visit. We had reservations, and were seated within 10 minutes, which was reasonable. The place was packed - everyone was in high spirits, and I was ready to taste some of the best Caribbean cuisine in the region. My hubby's best friend - a Brooklyn resident, joined us. He had been to the restaurant a few times - and had good things to say. We were not disappointed. I had the Brown Stew Red Snapper - *chef's kiss*. Hubby had the iconic Jerk Oxtail over Macaroni & Cheese Pie! The English language cannot convey the beauty of that combination! Tender, tender oxtail, falling off the bone with the creamy, cheesy mac & cheese! He wanted to savor that dish another day, so he got a to-go bag and took it back to the hotel! (I couldn't help but clean my plate - I was obsessed with the fish!) Our friend enjoyed the Hennessy Fried Shrimp (not pictured) - one of his favorite dishes at the restaurant. It looked delicious as well. For drinks, I had the Bob Marley cocktail. A colorful drink - flavorful - and effective! There were people celebrating their birthdays throughout the night - and the wait staff goes IN! I was enjoying watching at least 10 people receive the Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday" song while we were there. Imagine my surprise when it was my turn! My birthday was the day before, and we had already celebrated in Manhattan. Having two special recognition events made the evening that much more special! Shout out to the Simpson crew who came with the song, the rhythm, the sparkling cake, and the good vibes! My 70th birthday was exceptional - without a doubt. The Simpson added the touch I needed. We'll definitely go back next time we're in Brooklyn!

I asked for bottled still water, but the staff member didn't know what they offered, so I decided to wait. Our server came over for drink orders and she was very warm and kind. She took our full order at once. I asked again about bottled water and she confirmed they had Voss, which was perfect. I requested ice on the side. When the water still did not come, I asked a third time. At that point, she told me they only had sparkling water. Ma'am... were you ever going to tell me? Or was I supposed to just sit there guessing and waiting? I was two seconds from going to grab a bottle out of my car. Food: * Cod fish fritters (appetizer): very good, and the aioli really elevated the flavor * Brown stew snapper with veggies, rice and beans, and mac and cheese: the snapper itself was flavorful but not hot, which was disappointing. The veggies lacked seasoning, and the mac and cheese tasted like plain noodles with cheese * Oxtails (my mom): she loved them, but they were just okay to me * Chicken and waffles (my husband): he enjoyed it * Fresh fruit punch: absolutely delicious Service: This is where things went downhill. After the initial interaction, I had to constantly look for our server or any staff member whenever I needed something. Not once did anyone check in to ask if we needed anything or how everything was. That level of inattentiveness is unacceptable. I was extremely annoyed. This is not the experience I expected based on reviews, but then I realized something important. Google and Yelp reviews are very different. Yelp reviewers tend to be more honest and consistent, and I should have listened. Final Thoughts: Traveling all the way from Boston for this experience was a letdown. Between having to chase service and inconsistent food quality, it simply was not worth it. If it were not for how I was raised, the tip would have been 10 percent, and even that would have been forced. Simpson's needs to either hire more staff or seriously retrain their team on customer service. Bostonians: it is not worth the trip.

But this is a reminder that no matter how good your cocktails are, no matter how delicious your food is, service is king, and a 20% automatic gratuity can often enable some pretty terrible staff management and lackadaisical attitudes. What a waste. I came here on Tuesday night with my top-tier chum to grab a drink before the Nets/Celtics game. I showed up about 15 minutes before she did and was able to secure two spots at the bar before her arrival. While I waited for her, I ordered a Dream Catcher, which sounded super tasty (Patron, and a lot of pineapple vibes)...and then I waited some more. The bartender was nice but she was just WAY too slow. She wasn't able to multitask and my drink literally took 10-15 minutes to make, which is just not acceptable, especially when it was clear it was the only one she was working on. It showed up a minute before my friend did, and my 15-minute head start was rendered completely moot. The other ominous development right from the start? While the bartender was slowly making the drink, two members of the waitstaff were just hanging out at the end of the bar playing on their phones. So already, it was clear that the support staff hadn't been managed/instructed to pitch in during periods of need. The drink itself was actually really good; it just took a ridiculous amount of time for her to make, which to me is both a strong indicator that you need to train her to do this quickly without losing the quality of the beverage and also ensuring that you have at least one other person helping her behind the bar. The bar itself was pretty packed and there wasn't a moment where she wasn't doing something. Read the room and get off your phone. That to me is an unforgiveable sin. When my friend showed up, she also ordered the Dream Catcher, and we got the Crab Rangoon and Shrimp Tempura apps to munch on. The apps came out pretty quickly and were really good - fried perfectly, which I think is the area where it's easy to overdo it and potentially ruin these items. Huge points there and made the service problems even more frustrating. We weren't provided with napkins/silverware to eat the apps, so my chum had to wander around the establishment looking for them (no one assisted her in that search). The slow bartending reared its head immediately and my chum also had to deal with a mystifying 15-minute wait for her cocktail. We had about 40 minutes to play with before we had to be at the game, but because the service was so mediocre, we couldn't risk it - so they missed out on a second drinks and apps. Just leaving money on the table. We were so disappointed walking out of there. A lot of the qualities you'd want to pre-game before an NBA matchup are here, and I didn't even get into the ambience, which was both pretty chill with dim lighting but also had a little electricity in it. They have a ton of good material to work with . But if you can't trust the staff to be engaged and provide quality hospitality, it doesn't really matter. We had a conversation about coming back here some other time potentially but they just don't deserve it. Also, if you're trying this hard to figure out a way to strategically have a good time at a bar, that's all you need to know - you've answered your own question. And when we saw the 20% gratuity added? Final slap in the face. Frankly, if you're going to do that, at the very least let us know when you hand us the bill that it's added on; it's so easy to miss in a darkened bar, and given the other issues I just can't give the benefit of the doubt there. But this is why automatic gratuities need to be abolished. The bartender and the rest of the staff have no incentive to roll up their sleeves and provide a positive experience - they're getting paid no matter what. Hopefully management really takes a step back to reconsider their stance here or at least improve the staffing so they don't take all of the legitimate positives here and throw them in the trash can. You should be building on the good stuff, not canceling it out.
