Overall rating: 4.5 Paid: $20 Good food, no complaints. Do I wish it was slightly cheaper? Yes, yes I do. I got the Curry Shrimp Burger which I've never had before. It was tasty but I'm not sure if it's a revisit for me.

I stopped into this restaurant located in the food court! When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a mini mall. I walked downstairs and found the restaurant. It was busy! I was greeted and ordered: Chef Shorne Sangria Oxtail Grilled Cheese w/ Sweet Plaintain Oxtail Mac and Cheese Chicken w/ macaroni and cheese, broccoli, sticky black rice, sweet potatoes Branzino w/ sweet potatoes Shrimp Burger Tha food was spot on! My favorite was the Oxtail and Mac! All in all an amazing experience!

The food exceeded our expectations. Let me just tell you everything with seasons delicate and wonderful open kitchen concept good hard workers. The Rose lemonade was refreshing 10 out of 10 the grilled cheese was tender perfect cheese flavor and toast buttery wonderful I will run back to eat that and I don't even eat cocktail that's how good it is. The purple mangoes law was refreshing you with this healthy chicken, although I love dipping the lavender sauce with it in the barbecue sauce phenomenal mac & cheese was perfect flavored well broccoli good corn with coconut good the black rice and out of 10 the sweet yams 10 out of 10 there was nothing we didn't enjoy. Thank you. Shout out to Paige and all her workers. I don't even like fish and the fish was perfect. It wasn't fishy. It was flaky. I would order that again. The mashed potatoes were insane. There was so good.

Service post order was a little slow but the food didn't disappoint. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Lavender does rotisserie chicken well. The sauces were flavorful. The coconut corn was good along with the mango pickle slaw. There could be a bit more mango in the slaw.

This spot has been "bookmarked" to check out for awhile. It's located in the Albee Square food court downtown Brooklyn. I arrived early afternoon and it wasn't to busy. They have the menu up top to view or you can scan it. I already knew what I was ordering based on Yelp reviews. I ordered the oxtail grill cheese sandwich. I also ordered the quarter rotisserie chicken with a side of the mango pickled slaw and the roasted corn with coconut. I ate the oxtail sandwich for lunch with my homemade side salad. I'm not a huge fan of oxtail but I was expecting more from this sandwich. I loved that it was soft and fulfilling but I wasn't a big fan. It was a bit bland to me and don't think I would order again but it did eat every bit of it and it filled me up. Now baby the overall winner and reason I would return is that rotisserie chicken. Omg, I kept smelling that chicken on the train ride home. I ate this for dinner and it was delicious. My sides were also amazing, nicely seasoned and flavorful. I had the organic lavender sauce that I didn't use and didn't need. That rotisserie chicken stood very well on its own, lol. It was so juicy and very tasty. I'm looking forward to returning to purchase another rotisserie and check out some other menu items.

Following my teen dinner companion, I settled for a bite at Fat Fowl. The service was very pleasant and accommodating... nice vibes overall. Everything behind the counter looked very appealing as well. The food is pricey, so my mistake was not going with my gut. I ordered the oxtail grilled cheese because the teenager ordered it. Duh @ me! While I can cook exceptionally delicious oxtails, I never eat the meat, just the gravy over rice. The oxtail in the sandwich at Fat Fowl was nicely seasoned and very flavorful, but what may appeal to oxtail eaters is a complete aversion for me... fat, etc. Does not matter if it's beef or chicken, it's been an issue for me since childhood. While I managed to eat half of a half of the sandwich and enjoyed the flavor, I didn't like the little pieces fat. I ordered the mac & cheese, which was delightful. It was a big portion so I ate some and took the rest to go. In the future, I will try the chicken breast which is more aligned with my palate's preference for leaner meat.

The oxtail mac and cheese was super delicious the oxtail had all the right flavors and the Mac and cheese was just as delicious it was creamy and seasoned perfectly the black fried rice was also great it was sweet and spicy. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely going back.

Get in my belly! My great friend Denise said this place is a must and brought me to try it after we did some boutique-ing in the area. We both had the oxtail grilled cheese with a side of plantain, and later, added on Mac n cheese. What a flavor explosion! The tender beefy oxtail tasted like it must have been braised for HOURS and was delightful. The crispy caramelized-edged sweet plantain were cooked to perfection. The creamy savory Mac and cheese and I appreciate that they used another variety of noodle for the classic dish. I washed it down half a portion with a chilled pink grapefruit Ting soda. I took the other half to go. The food and the company? 5/5 Shout out to the Sous Chef (maybe also co-owner) who was going to WORK tirelessly as we sat at the bar. She made those dishes sing and I made sure to tell her about it.

I enjoyed my food at Fat Fowl but I do think they're a bit overpriced. I ordered the rotisserie chicken but didn't get much of the lavender notes. The mac and cheese on the other hand was probably my favorite! Don't forget to ask for the peppa sauce -- this kicked everything up a notch! Staff are friendly here and I love that you can see them prepare the food! They have a few bar stools at the front if you choose to dine in.

Loveeee omg. Everything about Fat Fowl is great in my opinion! I loved the blue and gold signage, so cute! The energy was great behind the counter too. I finally got around to trying their oxtail grilled cheese. A friend of mine mentioned how much she loved it so I knew I had to put it on my list. There was such a hefty amount of rich and tender oxtail on the sandwich. It was almost to a point where I felt like I could've used more cheese... never thought I'd say that. I split it and before my half was even done, I looked up and said "I want more". That's how you know it's good. Definitely worth the hype. I'll be back!

Food: The food is delicious here! We tried the oxtail grilled cheese and the chicken with two sides (pickled mango slaw and mac and cheese). All of the food was very flavorful and amazing. The oxtail grilled cheese is quite heavy but very enjoyable. It was good to try but definitely not an item I would get all the time. The oxtail was very moist and packed with various spices and seasoning. The chicken was also juicy and tasty. I would highly recommend the mac & cheese which is a little bit spicy and the pickled mango slaw. Service: Staff are very good friendly and welcoming. Ambiance: This is a food stall in the DeKalb Market Hall. This place has their own seating with about 10 counter seats surrounding their stall. There is plenty of seating in the food hall in general. Overall, I would highly recommend this place!

Keepin it real out here in Brooklyn Solid solid Caribbean spot We got a mix of diff dishes and all hit the spot. The spinning chicken at the bar is a nice touch, so far seems like they're very on top of their kitchen, would visit again once i save up enough

Quick NY trip to see a concert & added this place to my "To Do" list based on a video I'd seen on IG. Its located in a food court located in Brooklyn. If you're from Philly, lets just say it gives Reading Terminal vibes lol. We located the place towards the back of the food court. There is bar style seating at this place but there is also picnic style tables and high top table/chair settings located all around the food court. We were lucky enough to get seating in front of the restaurant. I ordered the highly discussed Oxtail Grilled Cheese with a side of Mac + Cheese and Maple Sweet Potatoe, with the Rose Lemonade to drink. Initially I was going to just add a green salad to my sandwich for an extra $5 but the person taking my order said the Mac & Sweet Potatoe were really good so I trusted her judgement and ordered both. My total for all 4 items came to $65 *YIKES*! The food didnt take long and I was excited to try. The Oxtail grilled cheese was everything I read about, very good. Fresh oxtail was for sure used. The Rose Lemonade was also good. Not too sweet but still refreshing. That is where the satisfaction stopped for what I orderer. The mac was mid. I guess I was expecting too much because it for sure was not soul food style Mac + Cheese. Just a cheesier Kraft style with a little seasoning tossed in. The Sweet Potatoes were HORRIBLE. Undercooked with no seasoning! Not even a hint of Maple was tasted lol. I took one scoop full and trashed the entire $14 container lol one of the cooks was so nice and friendly. When he asked our opinion and we truthfully told him about the potatoes he gave me a plate of black rice and corn to try. Both were amazing and I wish I would have gotten that from the beginning. I also tried the Plantains my sister ordered and they were the bomb! I'm in no rush to return but if I find myself in Brooklyn again and decide to visit this place, I know what NOT to order

It was sort of an odd time so the spacious restaurant wasn't very busy. We studied the menu for too long and after much deliberation, here's what we ordered, in order of spice level: - Oxtail ($35): Not spicy, super flavorful, "Trimmed and sliced chunks of oxtail seasoned freely with fresh spices and simmered to tender perfection." - Curry goat ($29): Mildly spicy, "Goat meat marinated and cooked in curry spices and herbs makes this an exotic dish." - Jerk chicken ($20): Apparently incredibly spicy so I steered clear of it, "A Jamaican delight. Spicy, delicious chicken baked with this unique combination of spices from the island." The dishes I could handle were excellent, with no drop of sauce left unmopped. On the sides front, the rice and beans, roti, steamed vegetables, and plantains were all tasty. The entree sizes were hearty. Our server seemed like a cool dude: easygoing with a sense of humor. It was kind of chilly in the restaurant, not sure if we were in a warmth dead zone or what. The bathroom was frog-themed which was a cute touch!

I discovered Kokomo because I knew I wanted our wedding celebration to be in Williamsburg -- a neighborhood that holds so many memories for me growing up in the Bronx and exploring the city as a kid. We flew in from Los Angeles and truly made it a full wedding week experience. I planned the wedding myself, so I had been communicating with Joel for months leading up to the event. We reserved the Champagne Room, which felt like its own beautiful oasis. As a Jamaican-American woman, it meant so much to know my disabled mother would feel culturally comfortable, welcomed, and safe in the space and with the food. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, attentive, and calming. Our server especially helped ease my nerves while we were finalizing seating and guest details, and after that, I genuinely did not have to worry about a thing. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Truly perfection. As a vegan, it meant so much to fully enjoy every part of my wedding meal without compromise. The rum punch was fantastic, our guests loved the open bar package, and the entire evening flowed so seamlessly. The aesthetic is pure island luxury -- elevated, warm, vibrant, and beautiful. The communication from the owners and management team was excellent throughout the entire process, and I even had the chance to finally meet Joel at the end of the night after months of planning together, which was such a lovely touch. I was also able to personally thank the chefs. We even accidentally left my bouquet behind, and the team kindly helped us retrieve it the next day. Kokomo NYC is officially a staple in our family now. I already know we will celebrate future milestones there and visit often whenever we are back in New York. It makes me proud to support a Black Caribbean-owned business that creates such meaningful experiences with so much care and excellence. The restaurant recently switched reservation platforms and lost our reservation in the transition. The service was attentive.

But this is a reminder that no matter how good your cocktails are, no matter how delicious your food is, service is king, and a 20% automatic gratuity can often enable some pretty terrible staff management and lackadaisical attitudes. What a waste. I came here on Tuesday night with my top-tier chum to grab a drink before the Nets/Celtics game. I showed up about 15 minutes before she did and was able to secure two spots at the bar before her arrival. While I waited for her, I ordered a Dream Catcher, which sounded super tasty (Patron, and a lot of pineapple vibes)...and then I waited some more. The bartender was nice but she was just WAY too slow. She wasn't able to multitask and my drink literally took 10-15 minutes to make, which is just not acceptable, especially when it was clear it was the only one she was working on. It showed up a minute before my friend did, and my 15-minute head start was rendered completely moot. The other ominous development right from the start? While the bartender was slowly making the drink, two members of the waitstaff were just hanging out at the end of the bar playing on their phones. So already, it was clear that the support staff hadn't been managed/instructed to pitch in during periods of need. The drink itself was actually really good; it just took a ridiculous amount of time for her to make, which to me is both a strong indicator that you need to train her to do this quickly without losing the quality of the beverage and also ensuring that you have at least one other person helping her behind the bar. The bar itself was pretty packed and there wasn't a moment where she wasn't doing something. Read the room and get off your phone. That to me is an unforgiveable sin. When my friend showed up, she also ordered the Dream Catcher, and we got the Crab Rangoon and Shrimp Tempura apps to munch on. The apps came out pretty quickly and were really good - fried perfectly, which I think is the area where it's easy to overdo it and potentially ruin these items. Huge points there and made the service problems even more frustrating. We weren't provided with napkins/silverware to eat the apps, so my chum had to wander around the establishment looking for them (no one assisted her in that search). The slow bartending reared its head immediately and my chum also had to deal with a mystifying 15-minute wait for her cocktail. We had about 40 minutes to play with before we had to be at the game, but because the service was so mediocre, we couldn't risk it - so they missed out on a second drinks and apps. Just leaving money on the table. We were so disappointed walking out of there. A lot of the qualities you'd want to pre-game before an NBA matchup are here, and I didn't even get into the ambience, which was both pretty chill with dim lighting but also had a little electricity in it. They have a ton of good material to work with . But if you can't trust the staff to be engaged and provide quality hospitality, it doesn't really matter. We had a conversation about coming back here some other time potentially but they just don't deserve it. Also, if you're trying this hard to figure out a way to strategically have a good time at a bar, that's all you need to know - you've answered your own question. And when we saw the 20% gratuity added? Final slap in the face. Frankly, if you're going to do that, at the very least let us know when you hand us the bill that it's added on; it's so easy to miss in a darkened bar, and given the other issues I just can't give the benefit of the doubt there. But this is why automatic gratuities need to be abolished. The bartender and the rest of the staff have no incentive to roll up their sleeves and provide a positive experience - they're getting paid no matter what. Hopefully management really takes a step back to reconsider their stance here or at least improve the staffing so they don't take all of the legitimate positives here and throw them in the trash can. You should be building on the good stuff, not canceling it out.
