Small Curry Chicken
Diane Y.

AMAZING! Delicious comfort food at a price that can't be beat! I got a small fried chicken with goat curry and rice and peas. The chicken was juicy and crispy. The curry sauce was comforting and layered with robust spices. The rice and peas was perfectly cooked. All of this great food for $6! What a great deal. I can eat this meal everyday. The service was friendly and helpful. He helped me figure out what to try having been there for the first time. I hope I can come here again on my next visit.

Fried chicken lunch special w/ coconut rice & peas

BOTTOM LINE: Flavorful Crunchy treat that you owe it to yourself to try TIP/S: $5 Fried/curry/stewed Chicken lunch specials ...WHO: party of 1 WHY: lunch WHAT: (Deets) Fried Chicken (with sweet sauce on the side) and al dente coconutty rice & peas. Let's have a conversation about the fried chicken! In this neighborhood, there are tons of places to get food, and to get good food. Count this place among them! The fried chicken has a delicious balanced saltiness. But the crunchy munchiness is spectacular. Add a lil' sauce... ¡Por Dios! Your mouth will say, "Yes please! More please!" I'm going back THIS week...did I mention the crunchy munchiness?! My mouth is smiling independently at the memory. WHEN: 4/4/18 WHERE: take away HOW: car/ bike/ public transportation: bus B35, B46 BATHROOM: no customer restroom WIFI: did not use DRESS CODE: as you like SERVICE: cordial and accommodating, just resist being in a rush when you order

I recommend you get your meal with rice and peas rather than white rice. Love the food here. It always takes too long to get it. The end.

Their playlist is great so vibes were on point. We all shared the lemon drop cocktail tower. It was super cute, tasty, fun, and did what it had to do for us pre-day party. For food, I tried the bao fish tacos and the crab curry gyoza. Both of these items were good but for the amount that comes with them it's pricy (you get 2 small bao tacos and 4 pieces of gyoza, both of which are $20-22 each). I liked the bao tacos the most because of the mixture of flavors and textures, including the excellently friend fish. The gyoza was different. It wasn't bad but I think I'm just used to crispy/fried gyoza vs these which were boiled/soft. My friends really enjoyed the crab fried rice. The fried sweet plantains were just ok to me; The batch we got were dry and not that sweet.

The couple who owns Kokomo deserve an award, if they don't have many already. The food is incredible. I've had both lunch and dinner. I can't say I have a favorite. But what stands out to me is: jerk chicken, mac and cheese, the lamb. Wait, my fave was the flatbread pizza with pasta and jerk chicken. My partner throughly enjoyed and raves about the oxtail. The mixed drinks were equally exceptional.

The drinks were perfectly made nice, strong, and flavorful. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious. The codfish fritters had to be my favorite, perfectly fried without being oily, just pure deliciousness. I ordered the Stella's Tasting, and it was more than enough food for two. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. Since it was my birthday, the staff came out and surprised me with a very delicious carrot cake. Moist, not overly sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. To top it all off, we were vibing to a really great playlist the entire time we ate. I will definitely be back!

I had their passion fruit lemonade which was refreshing and not overly sweet. For my entree I ordered their oxtails and rice and peas on the side. Their oxtails were cooked perfectly, the meat was falling off the bones. I would like it to be a bit more spicy and some more Lima bean but maybe thats just my own preference. When I asked for some spice the server brought us some pepper sauce which was exactly what I needed! My sister tried their jerk wings and mac and cheese. Their Mac and cheese is WOW. Definitely recommend! I didn't try their wings but I tried the sauce that comes with the wings and it had a lovely kick to it. For dessert we shared the Plantain Paradise and the ice cream paired so great with the plantains. It was vanilla ice cream but didn't taste like regular vanilla ice cream.. it had a nice rich texture . Service was great, the music was nice and although it was a bit cold in there they had a blanket per table which I thought was a cool concept.

The other establishments are much better. Would I return.....I don't think so .

The new location fixes that without losing any of what made the original special. More space, better ambience in, and just an all-around better experience. The food is amazing, the staff is great, the music is always on point, and the crowd is full of beautiful people. It has that increasingly rare Brooklyn feeling: cool without trying too hard, lively without being annoying, and actually rooted in the neighborhood. I'm low-key scared to even write this review because we've started thinking of Flamingo Baby as our secret best brunch spot and I'd prefer to keep it that way. But I'm writing this review because we also want them to get their flowers and succeed. Great food. Good music. Beautiful people. Great energy. It feels like Old Brooklyn--and I mean that as the highest compliment. My big warning is that it's a new restaurant, with a small kitchen, doesn't take reservations yet and it still doesn't have a liquor license yet. You should be prepared to wait an hour for a table.

Fat Fowl is located inside a food hall, which is great because you get to explore and try delicious food from other vendors, too. I ordered the oxtail grilled cheese (because, duh! ), along with plantains. Everything was delicious! I was a little worried the sandwich might be too greasy or heavy, but it was just right. Absolutely no complaints here! Now, a few things to keep in mind if you plan to visit. The food hall was busy when I went, and finding a seat was a struggle. My advice? Divide and conquer! Have one person scout out seats while everyone else orders the food. Also, since it's a food hall, be prepared for noise. Between the different restaurants calling out orders and all the activity, it can get pretty loud. But shoutout to the cook controlling the music because whoever was on aux deserves a RAISE! That man kept the place JAMMING ! Next time I'm in Brooklyn, I'm definitely coming back. That oxtail grilled cheese has me in a chokehold already.
