Typical jerk chicken takeout place, with the usual decor. Not really suitable for sit down dining, although there are a few stools and places to eat in. The good: The jerk pork was very good. The fiesta (bread sticks) were excellent. Rice and other sides were all good (not great). I especially liked the spicy jerk sauce and the oxtail gravy. The not so good: The chicken was under spiced and a bit dry. Jerk chicken should be full flavored and have a bbq flavor. Not sure how they prepare their chicken, but it didn't seem to be made on an open fire grill. It is their signature dish. I was expecting better. Not bad, but nothing to rave about. The lady at the counter was very nice and got my rather large order together in a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps I went on a slow day and the chicken was sitting under the heat lamps too long. Peppas is like Footprints, but better. The flavors are richer, the sauces are absolutely incredible, and everything tastes freshly made. Also there are no prices posted. I swear she charges me different amounts every time she rings my order. Brought a small soup and all you get is a small piece of chicken??? So I payed for the bowl and water with vegetables??!!!.

Was recommended to go to this place by my sister, but while at work my co worker said he did not like their food. But i decided to trust in my sister and still go... I ordered an oxtail. Was told that the oxtail was only enough for a medium. Fine with me I'm not a big eater. As she proceed to ring up the order she told me that in her system it only comes in larger. "Here comes the lady that shares the food" you can't get it... I told her well I'll still take it because the only option if it can't sell it goes to waste. Her response was well that's normal. I still proceed to tell her ma'am I'm not asking for a discount or handout and that you rather not sell and throw it out and turn away a paying customer/money to a business, this was 10pm. These places need to reevaluate the people they put to the front line of their business. She nor myself was rude, but it's the principles and shows how bad service can cause a place to go down. I was in the mood for a hot plate of comfort food and so I decided to go to this Peppa's location. I got the Jerk Chicken meal that was reasonably priced at $13. The chicken was cooked fresh, hot and flavorful. The rice and gravy was very good just wish they added more gravy. The meal was supposed to come with plantains but there wasn't any in my plate. When I asked the woman making the plates she said the plantains was there. Got home and surprise there weren't any on my plate. I would give 5 stars for the food but the order/pick-up process was a bit chaotic. It's cash only in store but you can order on the app with card etc. There were no prices on the menu instore which means the prices probably change regularly. My friend noticed her meal was $1cheaper on the app than I store. If you have the patience to wait and are I'd recommend this place for a good meal but order via an app! read more

This past weekend I got a lift to check out Peppa's Jerk Chicken. I've heard of it before and I believe there are a few different locations. I may honestly only go back to the location near Prospect Place or Flatbush again because I'm generally never out on Utica avenue and the customers weren't exactly warm and receptive of me even entering the establishment. The staff were fantastic though and the business is a different story - everything smells amazing. I took my what looked like half an entire jerk chicken to go and side of mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was gooey and thick and full of flavor and the jerk chicken moist and tangy (although I asked for a ton of sauce). Definitely had enough leftover for another meal the next day and it was just as good. Really want to try their rasta pasta. Two thumbs up. read more

First things first, this jerk chicken is exactly what you need after dancing up a storm all night. What's even better us that they are open really late. The chicken is really yummy and juicy. It's not dry at all. The heat level is perfect on it's own. However if you are looking for a little extra kick, the pepper sauce they provide is to die for. We ordered via yelp for pickup and waited over one hour and a half for a jerk chicken meal to be confirmed. Once confirmed we arrived at the restaurant and we were told to wait outside in line for another hour. The "security" at the door let people walk in and order their food and get it within minutes and told people that ordered online that he didn't care and that they would have to wait and if they wouldn't like it their chicken would be spit on or tainted. This is Peppa's 2nd location (they have 3 now) and The experience is slightly different but the food is exactly the same. This location is clearly much newer than the first location. The first location is more hole in the wall. This location is still best for takeout does have seating for about 10 people. You need to have the jerk chicken if you come to peppa's its the best in the world if I am being honest. Im Jamaican and I have had jerk chicken all over the country and Peppa's is the best imho. Drizzle a little jerk sauce (its pretty spicy and honestly its spicier at this location as compared to the other 2) and some bbq sauce and your instantly treated to this humble plate of heavenly chicken. If im being completely honest I have never managed to eat anything else at Peppa's besides their jerk chicken and their festival (which is also bomb). This location unlike the other keeps other food items in stock. You can come buy and most things are available (oxtails, curry, stew chicken, mac & cheese etc). If you know Caribbean places, have the full menu available is a rarity. This location doesnt have that meanish brooklyn vibe that I appreciate from the OG but many people will probably appreciate it the service is much better and its not as crowded. read more

There's literally only one seat here, but if you're visiting Peppas your intentions should never be to dine in, this is a take out Restuarant. I personally believe they have some of the best jerk in the area(not the best but it's up there) The jerk sauce is madd spicy, my cousin told me, this location is it's the spiciest out of their multiple locations. Pros: the service is extremely quick, they always have a lot of people staffed to accommodate rushes. Pricing is pretty reasonable. Festivals are pretty awesome! Aren't too many cons but this is a cash only Restaurant but there is an atm. I wanted to try the Mac and cheese because it looks so good, but i went with what i normally get, jerk chicken and festivals! It's tender and full of flavor. I ask them to add the jerk and BBQ sauce on it so it can soak into the hot succulent meat. Best part, the festival is addictive! Once I opened up the container and that smell hit me I knew I was getting some authentic jerk. I love a dry jerk with all the smoky flavor and just the right balance of seasoning and this is it. They give you some sauce on the side as well that tastes good, but honestly it doesn't need it. The mac and cheese is very thick and cheesy so it's decent, and would probably pair well with something with a gravy like oxtail to soften it up a bit.
