I scoured the internet and my old photos trying to find this restaurant again. It had been about a year since our first visit, so it took some digging but we eventually found Flamingobaby Kitchen and off we went! For the table, we ordered the oxtail stew, fried chicken, yams, collard greens, and mac & cheese. I also had a Peach Bellini for a little bubbly. Everything was exactly as I remembered -perfectly cooked and well seasoned, large portions with more than enough to take home. The chef stopped by our table which was a nice touch. Service overall was great. They also make great use of such a small space. It is indeed well worth the visit. Side note, we ordered the same exact items off the menu as we did a year ago...only one thing was missing which was the biscuits with the flavored butter jam. I went to FlamingoBABY sometime this summer and I will say the food is so good. My only concern was the wait for a table as it is a small space. Luckily, we were sat against the wall so we weren't on top of other patrons, but it can be crowded if you plan on having a party of 4+. I'm not sure if they take reservations, but even when they opened, there was a huge line and they had a queue where you gave them your name and number. So I came here after doing some research for brunch spots to dine at for my birthday and I decided to go with this one. Love that the chef is an African American female who was very pleasant. Upon coming in I noticed it's a very small space but it's cozy once inside and great music selection of classic reggae hits. The pricing was a bit up there for sides, weren't a lot of combos with all side they had so it added up quickly. My best friend and I had brunch here on Sunday, and everything was amazing! The food was delicious and full of flavor, the service was great, and the music added to the vibe. I ordered the catfish strips with collard greens and mac & cheese on the side. The collard greens were a little spicy but extremely tasty, and the catfish was seasoned and fried to perfection. The Chicken: hot in temp, not too breaded, a preference for some, and tender inside. Crispy coat. Not overly seasoned but definitely not dry or lacking in salt. Mac and cheese: star of the show. Cooked to order. Came out steamy with crispy cheese blanketing even more cheesy noodles. Kept it simple with no overpowering flavors but very respectable Mac and cheese. My friends tone switched from Decent to very good several bites into the mac and cheese they supposedly weren't interested in lol. A lil high in sodium but I don't know that one can find solid Mac and cheese without that sodium content. Corn bread: Patrons all nodded their heads in unison about how good the cornbread was. This place is so warm and welcoming. Very intimate setting and staff is so kind. I would definitely come here early right as the open because they are always packed and busy. There's probably about 20 seats inside and also an outdoor patio. I came here with my one year old daughter and they were so accommodating the entire time. When I first walked in, my first thought was about how small the place was. They do not take reservation and operate under a first come, first serve basis. They also do not sets incomplete parties, which was annoying for me. I was dining with my mother and daughter for my birthday, but my mother was running late. They don't do traditional bottomless, instead you order a pitcher. However, I came in today and got put by the bar because I'm by myself. I've sat here once before in winter. It is not comfortable. It is not a true space for eating as the bartender needs the area to work. The chair is too high and I have to sit sideways, legs dangling down. Today, in the heat of the summer, the slushie machine is apparently way more high powered than I remembered. Heat radiated off the bottom and blew hellish hot at the top. It was awful in this 90 degree weather. So I asked the hostess if I could sit at a regular table and her reply has ruined my perception of this place forever. She told me she couldn't move me. Said there's nothing she could do as they don't "prioritize parties of one". If she put me there, then there won't be space for "real parties of two on the waiting list". I insisted that I was also a party and I was uncomfortable but she just said she was sorry and there was no way she could justify moving me. I was too stunned to say anything else. Too stunned to even argue. Too stunned to stand up for myself and all the New Yorkers who go to eat out alone. Something this seemingly minor stunned me into silence. While she was condescending to me, my food came. With appetite gone, I got a to go box. Packed it up. Left. I guess that's the message: if you are coming here to eat alone, don't bother. Eat your food in the darkness of your house and leave the eating out to "real parties of 2 or more". It was incredibly dehumanizing and I can't see myself coming back here anytime soon. I was pleased with customer service and a sense of southern hospitality . My food and drink was pleasingly good . I had the blueberry french toast with chicken and side of collard greens . In addition , we shared an appetizer of the Mac and Cheese and cornbread . We were happy and full . My other friend girl ordered the red snapper brunch meal and see was happy too . My friend and I decided to check out Flamingobaby Kitchen for brunch on a Sunday at 12:30pm. They do not take reservations, but Google estimated a 15 minute wait, and that was fine by me. My friend got there earlier than me and was quoted 30 minutes for a table. We checked in at about 1:10, and the staff informed us that the tables were turning slower because they were understaffed. There was one person for the entire restaurant. At first, I was going to give them 5 stars because that really sucks if people call out and you still have to operate, but when I looked at other reviews, long wait times are not an anomaly. The inside is small, so they can only seat about 10 parties at once. The ambiance is casual and the larger tables in the back have cozier seating options. We got the mini biscuit basket ($14), chicken and waffle with jerk chicken ($24), and Bananababy! stuffed french toast ($20). The biscuits were TINY yet delectable bites. These are the first biscuits I have had in NYC that were not dry. However, I think $14 is really overpriced because they are so small. The other dishes were definitely worth the price taste-wise and portion-wise. I would definitely recommend ordering a regular sized biscuit if it is something you wanted to try instead of the mini ones. The idea of the stuffed french toast is genius because french toast doesn't have a lot of flavor on its own and is pretty dry. Again, no problem with the price on this, but since it's a pretty heavy dish, I would prefer a smaller portion size for a lower price, which I still feel would be filling. My friend said that the jerk chicken was moist and that the dish was tasty as well. When we were waiting for the table, the hostess explained that it would take a while for someone to take our orders. Since all of this was said up front, I feel like it would be unfair to criticize the service too harshly. Everyone was sweet and friendly despite the stress of being understaffed. When we got there we were waiting less than 5 mins for a table. The Restaurant is small but super cozy and had a nice vibe to it. I started off with some coffee which was really good and we started with cod fritters. They were pretty flavorful but we weren't too crazy over them. My best friend got oxtail and grits and she said it was super delicious. I got the Bananababy French toast with fried chicken (you have an option of getting friend chicken or jerk chicken). I had the pineapple ginger drink which was tasty and the strawberry passion fruit lemonade. I couldn't really taste the passion fruit but it was still good. I ordered the wild Berry french Toast (my favorite brunch item) - 9/10 and the blueberry cream pancakes 9/10. The compotes with both items were really good! The food took around 15mins or so to come out but everything was fresh so the wait was fine. We weren't familiar with the place so we weren't aware of how small it was. When entering we said we were a party of 7. They said if we're all there we could be seated together. Then tell us that their maximum is usually parties of 4 but that we can sit towards the back. It felt like we were getting accommodated which felt nice but that quickly change. We sat down in tables next to each other and when we asked to combine our tables we were told we couldn't connect our tables because it would "promote big parties and we don't do that" We were asked to sit in the chair instead of the bench so that our backs would be turned to the table where 2 of us were seated. And the woman constantly spoke to us as if she was dumbing it down that we cannot combine tables, or order all on one bill because they don't do parties more than 4. We were understanding and didn't have a rebuttal but yet we were constantly reminded by this woman that we can't do xyz. We were able to slant our chairs to be more inclusive to the second table. When we placed our orders we spoken to again like kindergarteners and explained that one tables order would be taken first and put in the system and the second tables taken right after. Wrong. The first tables order was taken and then she went to put the order in, went to make 5 of our drinks, and after 10 minutes took the order of the second half of our party. I understand a business could have their own rules in regards to how many people can be seated. Honestly I would've much rathered being turned away and going to another establishment instead of thinking our party was going to be accommodated properly. This small yet quaint Black-owned restaurant by Chef Niki serves up New American with Southern & Caribbean influenced brunch cuisine. Opening in 2021 in Park Slope, FlamingoBaby is among the growing restaurants whose concept is to welcome and delight their guests during the day, closing their doors early. Sounds like work-life balance to me. There is outside seating. But no reservations. We enjoyed the food, cocktails, service, and chill vibes. Everything tasted fresh and yummy. We arrived at a good time, because the restaurant soon filled up and almost every party was celebrating a birthday, which included one of my brothers. There was a wait when we departed. Y'all I think I am over here drooling while writing this review...!!! I can't wait to go back, truly! Yes you might want to make a reservation and also don't come here if you are really hungry as the food is prepared from attract each time, the wait can be longer than you are normally use to. The staff were so friendly. Greeted us when we walked in, then came out a few times since we were awaiting a spot to sit. Once we sat down the waiter we had was very pleasant and willing to please. He was very informative regarding the menu options. He was also straight forward that the food cooking process does take some time, so I appreciated the heads up. Their space is small so they have a few seats inside and then some outside as well. It's gets really loud inside once it starts to fill up so I enjoyed being outside. They have a cute restroom inside as well. Now down to the food...ahhh yes it takes a while to come out but it's DELICIOUS. We ordered so much! The Baked Mac, Bread Basket, Codfish Fritters, Cornbread Skillet, Spiked Sorrel, Banana Stuffed French Toast, and a few more options and everything was amazing. All in all I will be back!! I have been eyeing this restaurant for months and finally got the chance to check it out with a friend. They serve brunch all day till 6:30 pm on Sundays which I love! The vibes of the space are immaculate as soon as you enter this establishment. The space is sunny, bright, cozy and intimate with a few tables. Staff is super friendly and goes above and beyond. Everybody from the hostess, waitstaff and chef are so welcoming. We started off our meal with the bread basket, which came with biscuits and cornbread. The cornbread was super fluffy, not very dense and appropriately moist. The biscuits were tiny, flaky, and buttery. Perfection. For entrees I opted for the banana, stuffed French toast and Jamaican jerk chicken. The French toast was to die for I loved the filling. The jerk chicken was hot and fresh although I do wish it was a little bit more spicy, but the flavor was still on point. My friend ordered the oxtail which we shared. It was fatty and delicious and stewed to perfection. The mac & cheese was TO DIE FOR - I loved the crispy cheese top and edges, and even the bottom of the ramekin was crispy. A textural, creamy and dreamy delight! If you are looking for a solid brunch place in the neighborhood with exceptional food, and even better service look no further. 10/10 highly recommended. read more

Small little place full of good vibes. Natasha adds to the experience by doing checking in on you throughout your meal. She is just wonderful, if you don't believe me then go see for yourself! The music is just amazing. The music makes you chair dance and sing along as they are classic R&B and Hip Hop. Now let's get to the food. Definitely a place for a foodie!
