I never complain about the attitudes of the women that work here, why? The food is always so damn good. Today was a bit different because the place was empty, and I was literally screaming my order out too her. She still rolled her eyes, and sucked her teeth at me, I don't know what gives maybe it's a Jamaican thing. I'm editing my review just for sheer fact that this location is terribly discombobulated. Yesterday I came in 10/12. I always order a medium bbq chicken with two hot sides, the woman working the bar was new. I asked for two hot sides with my order, and was told I had to pay extra. I spoke up and told her no I always get free hot sides; I took the macaroni salad which she sprinkled like ten pieces of on top of the chicken. This location also has one of the most aggressive, most rude women working here. I walked down to the other location, and was given my choice of hot sides. I don't care how good your food is anymore, don't be rude.

Great authentic Jamaican food. Seasoned well and prepared well. Fresh food not stale or oily.

Good jerk chicken - had it with rice and peas, cabbage and plantain. No complaints - didn't love the patty and fried dumpling.

"Deep in Brooklyn, hides the Caribbean"…read more Came here on sleepy Tuesday. Not many people in the restaurant but lots of take out going on. The friendly one woman staff helped seat us, recommend the dishes, made the drinks, prepped and served the food. It was all tasty. What's to cheer - Nice not to too sweet homemade rum punch - Solid, flavorful oxtail. Very island spiced and cooked well - Goat was also really strong - Reasonable prices - service with personality What's to jeer - they were out of the jerk chicken unfortunately which I really wanted to try - place is pretty low key and not swimming with ambience

Service was excellent, we felt like we were visiting an old friend who happens to have a great restaurant. The food was delicious, we had the home made sorrel perfectly sweetened and the right amount of ginger. The oxtail with rice and peas with cabbage was on point. The meat was perfectly tender and the gravy was savory, the rice and peas was moist and delicious, the cabbage had a nice flavor and texture and the side of fry plantains were perfect, the right level of soft and sweet. Do yourself a favor and visit Islands. Cool .

Upon arrival the restaurant is very clean, and the service was fast. There is a dine in area as well. The woman who took my order was very patient , and personable. I ordered a brown stew fish, cabbage and 3 small soups. Everything came out to about $49. The chicken soup was very good . The cabbage was also very good. The fish on the other hand was very salty and not worth the $20 charge (fish with no sides). I get it the area etc etc but for the price the food should be top notch. The other establishments are much better. Would I return.....I don't think so .

Escovitch fish meal which came with plantains, rice and peas, and spinach. Everything was still warm and tasty when I arrived home. The order was packaged nicely. Definitely, nice portions for the prices. Place is clean. Staff is friendly, informative, and service was amazing. It takes about 10 minutes for the fish since they make it to order. I will soon be back and may have them do some catering orders for me( usually order from the location on flatbush). Pop in if you ever get in the area and want some hot warming food.

This is an intimate and cozy space, great to sit and talk without the noise of a loud space. Music was played, but not obnoxious and there is a tv. For the table, we ordered the oxtail stew, fried chicken, yams, collard greens, and mac & cheese. I also had a Peach Bellini for a little bubbly. Everything was exactly as I remembered -perfectly cooked and well seasoned, large portions with more than enough to take home. The chef stopped by our table which was a nice touch. Service overall was great. They also make great use of such a small space. It is indeed well worth the visit. Side note, we ordered the same exact items off the menu as we did a year ago...only one thing was missing which was the biscuits with the flavored butter jam. We were told the biscuits were replaced with cornbread. I didn't order the cornbread this time around but would like to see the biscuits return at some point.
