Brunch for the first time at Brookiyn Moon... Quick, randomly ordered recap: ---cute space ---mimosas for $1.99 (meh) ---long wait time for food (over 30 minutes and they weren't super crowded) ---friendly service ---no wait time for seating (2.30p on a Sunday) ---NO A.C. (it was 90 degrees and they were relying on a breeze? I was sweating profusely to the point my pants were wet when I got up to leave). ---Okay food. No real complaints; I just think I've come to the conclusion that "chicken and waffles" is overrated. (but I would go back and try other dishes.) ---I hear their wings are delicious.

Great place so happy to find this while walking in the area, stopped in for drinks. Freindly server , attentive even with being busy , moderate prices. We enjoyed margaritas and sea water . Delicious, recommend a visit when in area .

I'm being generous here with this rating. Where do I begin??? First not one employee had a mask one. Oh, but there was hand sanitizer available. Upon arrival we waited for help to be seated. No one came over so we proceeded to seat ourselves. When we went to sit in a corner, we were told we could not there because were a party of two and the table sat four. The restaurant was practically empty at the time. Okay on to the food and service. The apple salad was very wet. It was drenched in dressing. The fish had absolute no seasoning with the exception of the lemon wedges on the side. The chicken was salty. The service was very slow. The bartender/waiter placed water on the table but never came around to refill our glasses. We literally almost died because it was over 90 degrees outside and no AC inside. So by now your wondering why the two stars. One star for the great house music playing and one star for decor. The restaurant had a cozy feel to it. I just wish the service and food was better.

This wonderful night we had in soul summit ended with the worse service ever. We arrived 9:31pm exact. There was 4 people, two of us order our meal before the waitress beasicallt ignored our request. She told us that she was putting in our orders , and she would be back momentarily.she came back at 9:59 to take the orders of our two other guest after trying to flag her down multiple times. She took our guest order then came back out 3 mins later and told us that the kitchens closed, and ask us did we still eat it to order drinks. we resentfully agreed, when the drink came out 10 mins later the ice was already melted and the drink tasted like apple sauce water. This was the literally the worse drink I've had in my life and one o the other guess agreed and concurred. When we made the issue known we were told by the other attendant/waitress/bartender that she was sorry but she didn't take the order. The most she collies do was apologize. 1 out of 5 Mr.B

Def a Brooklyn staple. Can't say much more about it. I've always loved this place. Went there when I was in Brooklyn recently. Was going it an event but decided to grab a bite to eat before going. I had the fish sandwich. It was delicious. And I think the drink I had was called Sea water. Good as well. If you're ever downtown Brooklyn I'd check it out. Always great service. The manager is real cool and sociable. As well as the server. Go check it out.

Meal did not disappoint. The plates at one time housed jerk chicken and bbq chicken with greens and yams.

Mango margarita on the rocks $7 Happy hour 3-8p daily. Margaritas are $5. Lunch special orders also receive margaritas for $5 but menu is limited with a couple sandwiches. Mango margarita had kick. They do not play you with the alcohol. Jerk chicken leg quarter with Mac and cheese. The skin of the chicken was so flavorful. The Mac and cheese although good was missing something. The yams could have been a slight bit sweeter and the greens a little less vinegar but all in all I loved every bit of the meal. Also tried my friends bbq chicken breast and that also was a winner. Service impeccable. Spot is so chill and relaxing with good beats. Small interior but lots of seating and also bar seating. Both high top and low top tables. Pictures and decor with a photo of BIGGIE SMALLS. the hanging chandeliers add a touch of elegance. Seating in the front allows one to people watch. If seated towards the back it gives a close up to the stage. Meal comes with one side for $15.99 before tax.

I've came here twice- once for dinner and once for brunch. The flavors of the dishes I had were AMAZING. Not too salty and marinaded just right. It also doesn't make you feel too heavy and groggy. I wanted to give four stars but I'm giving five because the customer service made up for the overcooked chicken and the wait time. For dinner I had the BBQ chicken & mac. The chicken was over cooked- almost rubbery. I still ate the entire thing. We went during happy hour so we had about 12 drinks between us both (mango, guava, pineapple etc) For brunch- I had the fried chicken & mac. My girlfriend had the fish whiting and waffles. The whiting was very fishy- it wasn't my dish so it's not my business. My food was amazing. I had about 10 mimosas at **TWO DOLLARS each. Camille was a dream! We'll be back eventually.

Brooklyn Moon Cafe is fantastic!!!! Just to give you an idea as to how truly cool this place is I will explain my experience from the beginning: I walked into Brooklyn Moon Cafe and really enjoyed the vibe. The music was wonderful which really put me in a relaxed and calming mood. I wanted to dance and began to sway to the smooth reggae tunes that emanated from the speakers.....The hostess was so friendly and told us that we would have a 25 minute wait and I gave her my cell phone number. We proceeded to go look into some neighborhood stores and I received a text 15 minutes later indicating that they were to seat us for dinner. Brooklyn Moon Cafe is such a cute eatery that consists of multiple small tables and a couple of larger tables in the back of the place. The place was crowded with people that were enjoying themselves as they dined on delicious looking plates of food and sipped on colorful beautiful looking cocktails. It was Happy Hour when we were seated for diner so we were able to have some less expensive cocktails. I thoroughly liked my Mango Margarita which was $ 4 so of course I had a 2nd one......I had the Fried Whiting entree with Macaroni + Cheese. The Fried Whiting was scrumptious and light and the Macaroni and Cheese was creamy and cheesy just the way I like it. The person that I was with mentioned that their crab cakes were good. We also ordered some of their season french fries which went well with our cocktails. Overall, the food was spectacular. The waiter, busboy and waitress were attentive and ensured that we were provided with great customer service. The staff at Brooklyn Moon Cafe were nice, made sure that were given additional things if needed (extra napkins, extra condiments etc) and exchanged pleasantries with us throughout the evening. All in all, I look forward to coming back other evenings as it was advertised that they have Poetry and Jazz Nights. I also want to try other food on their menu as well as other cocktails such as their Rum Punch and signature beverages!!!

I've always loved this spot and although they've made some renovations the menu is still delicious. They forgot my honey for my chicken but Brooklyn Moon still has some of the best Mac n cheese and fried chicken. The art work is all around and adds to the very comfortable, cool vibe of the restaurant

Three stars is perfect for this spot . We came upon this restaurant by just walking around before a WNBA game and loved the black owned feel. It's a black/Caribbean Restaurant and it certainly gives that vibe . We went during the summer and it was very hot , no air conditioning, it felt like we were on a island dining, I'll say that lol. The food satisfied our hunger but wasn't something I would recommend as a "go to" , but for a quick bite to eat then it's perfect. The wings , cooked well, could use some wet condiments to occupy since they're dry. Whiting was very good, salmon tacos was expected, Salmon was as expected & macaroni & cheese was dry . Margaritas (we didn't get the Margs on happy hour) were weak but not the worst.

    Guava Margarita = $4

Unfortunately, this place is no longer suitable. They won't seat you if your whole party is there UNLESS the hostess knows you. 2/3 of my party was there. We were waiting on one more. The woman that walked in seconds before us was also waiting for someone - he seats her. Then tells me he knows her and that's why he disregarded their policy and sat her even though her whole party hadn't arrived. This policy is custom for a lot of restaurants and I get it, but if that's the policy, apply it to all. Don't be selective. And especially don't be selective in front of other customers and then tell them WHY you won't accommodate them. That's just bad business. Last straw for me.

It was sort of an odd time so the spacious restaurant wasn't very busy. We studied the menu for too long and after much deliberation, here's what we ordered, in order of spice level: - Oxtail ($35): Not spicy, super flavorful, "Trimmed and sliced chunks of oxtail seasoned freely with fresh spices and simmered to tender perfection." - Curry goat ($29): Mildly spicy, "Goat meat marinated and cooked in curry spices and herbs makes this an exotic dish." - Jerk chicken ($20): Apparently incredibly spicy so I steered clear of it, "A Jamaican delight. Spicy, delicious chicken baked with this unique combination of spices from the island." The dishes I could handle were excellent, with no drop of sauce left unmopped. On the sides front, the rice and beans, roti, steamed vegetables, and plantains were all tasty. The entree sizes were hearty. Our server seemed like a cool dude: easygoing with a sense of humor. It was kind of chilly in the restaurant, not sure if we were in a warmth dead zone or what. The bathroom was frog-themed which was a cute touch!

Very island spiced and cooked well - Goat was also really strong - Reasonable prices - service with personality What's to jeer - they were out of the jerk chicken unfortunately which I really wanted to try - place is pretty low key and not swimming with ambience

For apps, we got the curry crab gyoza which was a very small portion (6/10) and the roasted mushroom truffle flatbread which was the highlight of the meal (8.5/10). For mains, we tried the biang biang Rasta noodles with salmon (6/10) and the sofrino roasted chicken (5/10). Both were a bit underwhelming. I've heard their drinks are great but we didn't try any. For my hubby, Brooklyn is home - and we always love exploring the new places the city has to offer when we visit. We had reservations, and were seated within 10 minutes, which was reasonable. The place was packed - everyone was in high spirits, and I was ready to taste some of the best Caribbean cuisine in the region. My hubby's best friend - a Brooklyn resident, joined us. He had been to the restaurant a few times - and had good things to say. We were not disappointed. I had the Brown Stew Red Snapper - *chef's kiss*. Hubby had the iconic Jerk Oxtail over Macaroni & Cheese Pie! The English language cannot convey the beauty of that combination! Tender, tender oxtail, falling off the bone with the creamy, cheesy mac & cheese! He wanted to savor that dish another day, so he got a to-go bag and took it back to the hotel! (I couldn't help but clean my plate - I was obsessed with the fish!) Our friend enjoyed the Hennessy Fried Shrimp (not pictured) - one of his favorite dishes at the restaurant. It looked delicious as well. For drinks, I had the Bob Marley cocktail. A colorful drink - flavorful - and effective! There were people celebrating their birthdays throughout the night - and the wait staff goes IN! I was enjoying watching at least 10 people receive the Stevie Wonder "Happy Birthday" song while we were there. Imagine my surprise when it was my turn! My birthday was the day before, and we had already celebrated in Manhattan. Having two special recognition events made the evening that much more special! Shout out to the Simpson crew who came with the song, the rhythm, the sparkling cake, and the good vibes! My 70th birthday was exceptional - without a doubt. The Simpson added the touch I needed. I asked for bottled still water, but the staff member didn't know what they offered, so I decided to wait. Our server came over for drink orders and she was very warm and kind. She took our full order at once. I asked again about bottled water and she confirmed they had Voss, which was perfect. I requested ice on the side. When the water still did not come, I asked a third time. At that point, she told me they only had sparkling water. Ma'am... were you ever going to tell me? Or was I supposed to just sit there guessing and waiting? I was two seconds from going to grab a bottle out of my car. Food: * Cod fish fritters (appetizer): very good, and the aioli really elevated the flavor * Brown stew snapper with veggies, rice and beans, and mac and cheese: the snapper itself was flavorful but not hot, which was disappointing. The veggies lacked seasoning, and the mac and cheese tasted like plain noodles with cheese * Oxtails (my mom): she loved them, but they were just okay to me * Chicken and waffles (my husband): he enjoyed it * Fresh fruit punch: absolutely delicious Service: This is where things went downhill. After the initial interaction, I had to constantly look for our server or any staff member whenever I needed something. Not once did anyone check in to ask if we needed anything or how everything was. That level of inattentiveness is unacceptable. I was extremely annoyed. This is not the experience I expected based on reviews, but then I realized something important. Google and Yelp reviews are very different. Yelp reviewers tend to be more honest and consistent, and I should have listened. Final Thoughts: Traveling all the way from Boston for this experience was a letdown. Between having to chase service and inconsistent food quality, it simply was not worth it. If it were not for how I was raised, the tip would have been 10 percent, and even that would have been forced. Simpson's needs to either hire more staff or seriously retrain their team on customer service. Bostonians: it is not worth the trip.
