I personally enjoy Brooklyn Moon for their brunch, however I came with some coworkers for happy hour. The drink prices were good but what I ordered .. I was not a fan of. I got margaritas (great! & a lot of flavors) but I also ordered a salmon burger that was very mushy. I didn't finish it and just ate the fries. I know everywhere makes it differently and maybe i should've asked for it to be cooked longer? Not sure- maybe I'm not hip to it but it's not my first salmon burger and that wasn't what I expected. Overall, I'd still go here for happy hour (just drinks or small apps) and brunch! read more

LOL! Some of these 5 star ratings are quite questionable. Either people don't know any better or are friends of the management. There's no way I'd give this spot 5 stars or even 3. Luckily they didn't get 1. I came here a few weeks ago with a friend, and the ONLY reason why I'm giving it TWO stars, is because the hostess that I had was actually a sweetheart. Very talkative, welcoming and attentive. HOWEVER... the food was trash. Honestly. I could cook better and open up my own restaurant with my cooking, and make a killing if THIS is considered amazing food lol right... The only reason why I even went to this place is because a friend RAVED about how great this spot was. (Maybe she went years ago when there was a different cook or something) because this time? Food was below subpar. (And obviously rushed) The crab cakes were small, on a bed of skimpy lettuce (the same 'spring mix' I have in my fridge), the shrimp wasn't really seasoned, just overly SPICY. The corn was OBVIOUSLY canned corn, no seasoning, no FLAVOR. The "yams" were "blah". (I took photos of the food, and I made it look good because I'm a photographer. So that comes natural.) But the food was seriously very mediocre. My friend mentioned her so called peas and rice even tasted like boxed Zatarains rice you get from the super market. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was. The two drinks I ordered were WEAK and over priced. $10 for a drink, you'd think you'd taste the alcohol right?... I ordered one thinking that maybe I just wasn't feeling the effects yet. I'm a drinker so I know when a drink is just so good that it'll creep up on you, or when a drink was just carelessly made. So I ordered ANOTHER thinking maybe the second time I'd get a better drink? I wish i could give zero stars. From the moment i walked in it was a shit show, the bartender was having drinks at a table with her friends, it took 15 minutes to get a drink at the bar. The owner was high and drunk hanging outside with his friends, and to think, this establishment had been around for over 10 years and we wonder why they have very little community support, for god sake there's a go fund me in the bio. The young lady who was our waitress was so sweet however she barely understood what we was saying- we had to repeat ourselves at least twice ! drinks was watered down and we when expressed our dislike for drinks the waitress said o I need a reason in order for me to take it back !! I kind of love this spot. The vibe and the atmosphere is always dope. The drinks are super strong and the food is delicious. I've been continuously working my way through the menu. The curry mussels are a must-have. First of all, they're huge! I really wonder where they are finding mussels of that size from. They come in a simple appetizer plate on a bed of greens which soak up the seasoning nicely or as a dish with an additional 4 (i think) and your choice of side. I'm partial to the macaroni and cheese. The jerk chicken is very tasty but you can get equally as tasty jerk dinners from your local Brooklyn carry out for less. It's good but it's not necessary to the average Brooklynite who may already have their preferred jerk spot in their respective neighborhood. The crab cakes a delicious but they only come in 3s and you may not want to share. The spicy shrimp is a standout appetizer that you actually can share. It's perfect! I tried the whiting off of my friend's plate. It was cool to me but I don't really eat too many fish dishes so I don't have much of an opinion. She loved it though *shrugs*. Now to the drinks...they're the added selling point that would bring me in here multiple times in the same week. They're not the cheapest outside of Happy Hour which I always seem to miss (they've got great deals everyday) but they also aren't absurdly priced. I came here on a Thursday night with my boyfriend and the service here was horrible. Remind you this is not my first time here which Made me very disappointed. There was no one at the door to greet or to give us a seat. We came to the bar to get a drink and order our food with the bartender who was very attentive to us. He gave us our drinks and told us he would get us a table which didn't happen so we decided to order the food to go and that took forever. So my boyfriend and I asked for a refund. I love this place, I was looking for some soul food and found it here. I came here around 11am on a Saturday and they had brunch. I got the jerk chicken wings with homemade potatoes which was amazing. It was a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They also had $1 mimosa which by itself will keep me coming back here. My friend got the french toast, I tried some of her food and it was also amazing! So soft and tasty that you don't even need syrup on anything else in it to like it. The service was great, the waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I also like the set up in here, they have a sign by the bar area that says "Do the right thing way." 4.25 stars! What a difference interior design and a change in staff make! I came to Brooklyn Moon a few years ago and the food was delicious but the service was horrible. I met a dear friend there again on Friday evening and was presently surprised with the changes. After a long work week, I made a beeline for the bar and ordered a Brooklyn moon (light and dark rum, fruit juice, etc). We also ordered a few sea breezes and shots of rum. We had the jerk chicken wings to start, then my friend had grilled tilapia and I indulged in the fried chicken, mac and cheese and yams. Everything came out in an orderly fashion and was absolutely delicious. We cleaned our plates. I wanted to try dessert but was entirely too full due to the large portions. The service was impeccable. Our server, Ketty, was attentive and checked on us regularly. Our busboy, Amir, was really sweet and kept our water glasses full, table clean and tea candle lit (which we kept blowing out accidentally. lol). The restaurant got really packed and loud around 7:30 and it became difficult to have conversation with people next to you. Ah well, still a good place to hang out. Always wanted to try the place. Went there with a party of 8 on a weekend afternoon. They had us waiting outside at first. It seemed like they would've forgot about us, had it not been for one of the persistent hounding of a friend. The food here was good. I'm a big girl at heart so the portion size was alright. Not too much that I was left feeling the itis. All brunch plates cost $14.95 however the mimosas are $1?!! It reminds me of the sweet chicks in willamsburg just smaller. The parking is typical NYC parking so bring cash for the meter, unless you get luckily and find street parking on the side street. Overall it was just a great place to be. Came here last Saturday afternoon to reunite with a group of friends over brunch and had a great time! While the service was pretty slow, we were in no rush so we were happy to relax and catch up with our mimosas (they are $1 each and you can get up to 5 before you finish your meal.) While you can order bacon and eggs, you should absolutely go for the fried fish or fried chicken and the delicious fries - waistline be damned. Also, the guava mimosas. The atmosphere of Brooklyn Moon was very low-key and cozy, almost as if being a guest in someone's home, which was perfect for the occasion. I've heard nothing but great things about this place. I visited this place on Friday, November 15th and it was the worst dining experience of my life. It took over 30 minutes to receive my drink. I left my table to approach the bartender to inform her that I haven't received my drink yet and she told me it's coming but went right back to chatting with her friends. The bartender and her friends were so loud that it made it obvious as to why people weren't getting their drinks. The guests near me also had complaints because the waiters kept bringing them the wrong drinks. Did I mentioned that when I approached the bartender, the busboy/waiter whispered my drink order to the bartender. Now I'm confused because I'm thinking my drink order was never placed. Food: The food was disgusting. The Mac and cheese was dry as hell and tasted like it was made with processed cheeses. It wasn't seasoned at all. The crab cakes were definitely bought from the grocery stores frozen meals section. They gave you 3 crab cakes for $10.95 but the crab cakes wasn't any bigger than McDonalds chicken nuggets. They actually looked like tiny meat balls. The homemade sauce they used for the crab cakes is nothing but mayonnaise. Atmosphere: It's real cute, great vibes and music. That's why this place got ONE star from me because of the atmosphere. Employees: Everybody need to be replaced. The cooks, the busboys, the bartender, the waiters, the hostess.
