Brunch for the first time at Brookiyn Moon... Quick, randomly ordered recap: ---cute space ---mimosas for $1.99 (meh) ---long wait time for food (over 30 minutes and they weren't super crowded) ---friendly service ---no wait time for seating (2.30p on a Sunday) ---NO A.C. (it was 90 degrees and they were relying on a breeze? I was sweating profusely to the point my pants were wet when I got up to leave). ---Okay food. No real complaints; I just think I've come to the conclusion that "chicken and waffles" is overrated. (but I would go back and try other dishes.) ---I hear their wings are delicious.

Great place so happy to find this while walking in the area, stopped in for drinks. Freindly server , attentive even with being busy , moderate prices. We enjoyed margaritas and sea water . Delicious, recommend a visit when in area .

I'm being generous here with this rating. Where do I begin??? First not one employee had a mask one. Oh, but there was hand sanitizer available. Upon arrival we waited for help to be seated. No one came over so we proceeded to seat ourselves. When we went to sit in a corner, we were told we could not there because were a party of two and the table sat four. The restaurant was practically empty at the time. Okay on to the food and service. The apple salad was very wet. It was drenched in dressing. The fish had absolute no seasoning with the exception of the lemon wedges on the side. The chicken was salty. The service was very slow. The bartender/waiter placed water on the table but never came around to refill our glasses. We literally almost died because it was over 90 degrees outside and no AC inside. So by now your wondering why the two stars. One star for the great house music playing and one star for decor. The restaurant had a cozy feel to it. I just wish the service and food was better.

This wonderful night we had in soul summit ended with the worse service ever. We arrived 9:31pm exact. There was 4 people, two of us order our meal before the waitress beasicallt ignored our request. She told us that she was putting in our orders , and she would be back momentarily.she came back at 9:59 to take the orders of our two other guest after trying to flag her down multiple times. She took our guest order then came back out 3 mins later and told us that the kitchens closed, and ask us did we still eat it to order drinks. we resentfully agreed, when the drink came out 10 mins later the ice was already melted and the drink tasted like apple sauce water. This was the literally the worse drink I've had in my life and one o the other guess agreed and concurred. When we made the issue known we were told by the other attendant/waitress/bartender that she was sorry but she didn't take the order. The most she collies do was apologize. 1 out of 5 Mr.B

Def a Brooklyn staple. Can't say much more about it. I've always loved this place. Went there when I was in Brooklyn recently. Was going it an event but decided to grab a bite to eat before going. I had the fish sandwich. It was delicious. And I think the drink I had was called Sea water. Good as well. If you're ever downtown Brooklyn I'd check it out. Always great service. The manager is real cool and sociable. As well as the server. Go check it out.

Meal did not disappoint. The plates at one time housed jerk chicken and bbq chicken with greens and yams.

Mango margarita on the rocks $7 Happy hour 3-8p daily. Margaritas are $5. Lunch special orders also receive margaritas for $5 but menu is limited with a couple sandwiches. Mango margarita had kick. They do not play you with the alcohol. Jerk chicken leg quarter with Mac and cheese. The skin of the chicken was so flavorful. The Mac and cheese although good was missing something. The yams could have been a slight bit sweeter and the greens a little less vinegar but all in all I loved every bit of the meal. Also tried my friends bbq chicken breast and that also was a winner. Service impeccable. Spot is so chill and relaxing with good beats. Small interior but lots of seating and also bar seating. Both high top and low top tables. Pictures and decor with a photo of BIGGIE SMALLS. the hanging chandeliers add a touch of elegance. Seating in the front allows one to people watch. If seated towards the back it gives a close up to the stage. Meal comes with one side for $15.99 before tax.

I've came here twice- once for dinner and once for brunch. The flavors of the dishes I had were AMAZING. Not too salty and marinaded just right. It also doesn't make you feel too heavy and groggy. I wanted to give four stars but I'm giving five because the customer service made up for the overcooked chicken and the wait time. For dinner I had the BBQ chicken & mac. The chicken was over cooked- almost rubbery. I still ate the entire thing. We went during happy hour so we had about 12 drinks between us both (mango, guava, pineapple etc) For brunch- I had the fried chicken & mac. My girlfriend had the fish whiting and waffles. The whiting was very fishy- it wasn't my dish so it's not my business. My food was amazing. I had about 10 mimosas at **TWO DOLLARS each. Camille was a dream! We'll be back eventually.

Brooklyn Moon Cafe is fantastic!!!! Just to give you an idea as to how truly cool this place is I will explain my experience from the beginning: I walked into Brooklyn Moon Cafe and really enjoyed the vibe. The music was wonderful which really put me in a relaxed and calming mood. I wanted to dance and began to sway to the smooth reggae tunes that emanated from the speakers.....The hostess was so friendly and told us that we would have a 25 minute wait and I gave her my cell phone number. We proceeded to go look into some neighborhood stores and I received a text 15 minutes later indicating that they were to seat us for dinner. Brooklyn Moon Cafe is such a cute eatery that consists of multiple small tables and a couple of larger tables in the back of the place. The place was crowded with people that were enjoying themselves as they dined on delicious looking plates of food and sipped on colorful beautiful looking cocktails. It was Happy Hour when we were seated for diner so we were able to have some less expensive cocktails. I thoroughly liked my Mango Margarita which was $ 4 so of course I had a 2nd one......I had the Fried Whiting entree with Macaroni + Cheese. The Fried Whiting was scrumptious and light and the Macaroni and Cheese was creamy and cheesy just the way I like it. The person that I was with mentioned that their crab cakes were good. We also ordered some of their season french fries which went well with our cocktails. Overall, the food was spectacular. The waiter, busboy and waitress were attentive and ensured that we were provided with great customer service. The staff at Brooklyn Moon Cafe were nice, made sure that were given additional things if needed (extra napkins, extra condiments etc) and exchanged pleasantries with us throughout the evening. All in all, I look forward to coming back other evenings as it was advertised that they have Poetry and Jazz Nights. I also want to try other food on their menu as well as other cocktails such as their Rum Punch and signature beverages!!!

I've always loved this spot and although they've made some renovations the menu is still delicious. They forgot my honey for my chicken but Brooklyn Moon still has some of the best Mac n cheese and fried chicken. The art work is all around and adds to the very comfortable, cool vibe of the restaurant

Three stars is perfect for this spot . We came upon this restaurant by just walking around before a WNBA game and loved the black owned feel. It's a black/Caribbean Restaurant and it certainly gives that vibe . We went during the summer and it was very hot , no air conditioning, it felt like we were on a island dining, I'll say that lol. The food satisfied our hunger but wasn't something I would recommend as a "go to" , but for a quick bite to eat then it's perfect. The wings , cooked well, could use some wet condiments to occupy since they're dry. Whiting was very good, salmon tacos was expected, Salmon was as expected & macaroni & cheese was dry . Margaritas (we didn't get the Margs on happy hour) were weak but not the worst.

    Guava Margarita = $4

Unfortunately, this place is no longer suitable. They won't seat you if your whole party is there UNLESS the hostess knows you. 2/3 of my party was there. We were waiting on one more. The woman that walked in seconds before us was also waiting for someone - he seats her. Then tells me he knows her and that's why he disregarded their policy and sat her even though her whole party hadn't arrived. This policy is custom for a lot of restaurants and I get it, but if that's the policy, apply it to all. Don't be selective. And especially don't be selective in front of other customers and then tell them WHY you won't accommodate them. That's just bad business. Last straw for me.

Made a reservation for Saturday brunch with a friend and was instantly charmed upon arrival. I love the layout of the restaurant with the bistro tables facing inward-- it really feels like they are making the best use of the space. For food, my friend and I opted to share the french toast and the burger. The french toast was delicious, although dare I say the slab of butter they put on the top is a little too thick and too cold, so it's hard to get it to properly melt. The burger was good but nothing spectacular and I think they could have a much better bun. However, the fries were delicious! I got a flat white and my friend got a grapefruit juice. For the price, the sizes of the drinks fell flat, and my flat white was also too much like a cappuccino. Service was friendly but extremely slow to take our initial order, and our drinks then took 10 minutes to come out too.

But everything else when eaten together tasted a bit too greasy and felt monotonous in terms of flavor. Brussel sprouts were fried and held to a decent amount of oil, then the addition of tahini made it even more oily. Pan chicken we expected whole pieces of chicken but it was more like a thin chicken cutlet. We were, however, a bit disappointed over recent times that they pulled back from their original plan and stated mission of including the service charge in the cost--it both seemed worker forward and made the cost seem more reasonable, with service charge built into the fixed price. Now the cost seems like any other nice restaurant--far above and beyond the printed menu price. Don't get me wrong, it is exceptional dinner and still well worth it, but a mental adjustment. Their rotating dinner menu (fixed menu, now 3 and 5 course options for different price points) is a brilliant move, meaning you can find something seasonal and new and inventive every couple of weeks. We can't afford to come every two weeks, but we do look forward to the new menu release every two weeks to judge our level of temptation. I'd also note that they apply their same model to breakfast--it is slow service, without bar service as far as we could tell. It was dinner speed at a more bustling brunch time. The food was still stellar--delicious sourdough breakfast sandwich and fabulous spiced pumpkin waffle (even if I had to fight for the advertised maple syrup)--but the service painfully slow. It works over a four course dinner with cocktails, but feels a bit more interminable as you stare at your number for breakfast for 30+ minutes--I think they need to adjust their approach here. Overall we are so grateful to have this gem in our neighborhood--fabulous food, great service... truly some of the best food and service in a neighborhood lacking great options for both. I know we are all feeling tariffs and inflation and cost of living, but the pricing approach/change has moved it from a "let's see the new menu every two weeks" to a more occasional splurge, and I'd be wary of the breakfast/brunch experience if you aren't prepared for a very leisurely day.

But this is a reminder that no matter how good your cocktails are, no matter how delicious your food is, service is king, and a 20% automatic gratuity can often enable some pretty terrible staff management and lackadaisical attitudes. What a waste. I came here on Tuesday night with my top-tier chum to grab a drink before the Nets/Celtics game. I showed up about 15 minutes before she did and was able to secure two spots at the bar before her arrival. While I waited for her, I ordered a Dream Catcher, which sounded super tasty (Patron, and a lot of pineapple vibes)...and then I waited some more. The bartender was nice but she was just WAY too slow. She wasn't able to multitask and my drink literally took 10-15 minutes to make, which is just not acceptable, especially when it was clear it was the only one she was working on. It showed up a minute before my friend did, and my 15-minute head start was rendered completely moot. The other ominous development right from the start? While the bartender was slowly making the drink, two members of the waitstaff were just hanging out at the end of the bar playing on their phones. So already, it was clear that the support staff hadn't been managed/instructed to pitch in during periods of need. The drink itself was actually really good; it just took a ridiculous amount of time for her to make, which to me is both a strong indicator that you need to train her to do this quickly without losing the quality of the beverage and also ensuring that you have at least one other person helping her behind the bar. The bar itself was pretty packed and there wasn't a moment where she wasn't doing something. Read the room and get off your phone. That to me is an unforgiveable sin. When my friend showed up, she also ordered the Dream Catcher, and we got the Crab Rangoon and Shrimp Tempura apps to munch on. The apps came out pretty quickly and were really good - fried perfectly, which I think is the area where it's easy to overdo it and potentially ruin these items. Huge points there and made the service problems even more frustrating. We weren't provided with napkins/silverware to eat the apps, so my chum had to wander around the establishment looking for them (no one assisted her in that search). The slow bartending reared its head immediately and my chum also had to deal with a mystifying 15-minute wait for her cocktail. We had about 40 minutes to play with before we had to be at the game, but because the service was so mediocre, we couldn't risk it - so they missed out on a second drinks and apps. Just leaving money on the table. We were so disappointed walking out of there. A lot of the qualities you'd want to pre-game before an NBA matchup are here, and I didn't even get into the ambience, which was both pretty chill with dim lighting but also had a little electricity in it. They have a ton of good material to work with . But if you can't trust the staff to be engaged and provide quality hospitality, it doesn't really matter. We had a conversation about coming back here some other time potentially but they just don't deserve it. Also, if you're trying this hard to figure out a way to strategically have a good time at a bar, that's all you need to know - you've answered your own question. And when we saw the 20% gratuity added? Final slap in the face. Frankly, if you're going to do that, at the very least let us know when you hand us the bill that it's added on; it's so easy to miss in a darkened bar, and given the other issues I just can't give the benefit of the doubt there. But this is why automatic gratuities need to be abolished. The bartender and the rest of the staff have no incentive to roll up their sleeves and provide a positive experience - they're getting paid no matter what. Hopefully management really takes a step back to reconsider their stance here or at least improve the staffing so they don't take all of the legitimate positives here and throw them in the trash can. You should be building on the good stuff, not canceling it out.

My burger was excellent, normally I don't eat my burger with a knife and folk, but in this case with all the cheese and sauce oozing down the sides, not to mention the caramelized onions, it was necessary. (If I were home I wouldn't mind having burger juices running down my arm, but other people were eating in the restaurant also). The tiny pickles which I can't remember the name of were an added treat to the burger. I decided to order mine with the loaded fries. Just imagine the ground burger with all the toppings covering french fries and add melted white cheese. Since I was alone I didn't order a pizza because how would I eat it all, but next time I will try the pizza. I don't mind paying extra for a burger when it's aged beef and the taste is great. I definitely recommend this location. There is a fast food burger restaurant next door to Emily's but I can't imagine there burgers compare. I will try them another time and let you know. That's all for now, see you on my next review.
