Chickichangas are delicious! We have had them dine-in, and this time was take out. No fuss and just a good concoction of meat, cheese, and the beloved avocado... which God made just for me to eat [and for me to make fun of the dimbulbs who don't like them]. We couldn't believe how busy this place was for noon on a Friday, but it was packed - we took it as a good sign and we're grateful we were quickly seated. We enjoyed some coffee and weren't rushed to ordered despite how busy they were. We decided to try their new millionaires bacon (bacon with pepper, raw sugar and maple syrup drizzled on top). I was torn between biscuits and gravy and their seasonal tomato and burrata toast (I LOVE burrata). I decided on the biscuits and gravy because for me that's a true test of a great breakfast joint. Gary got the trifecta with sausage, and the Belgium waffle. Our food arrived quickly and it was delicious! I'm taking a star off because it said we got two eggs with our meals but we each got one and my meal was luke warm in temperature. They were very busy- which we understand (we work service industry!) I got the Benedict but wasn't asked if I wanted a salad or potatoes. When the food came out I received a salad. I asked for potatoes after I learned the salad wasn't the only option. Food was pretty good! But whilst walking out- I was told by the HOST (while trying to get the bill figured out) that potatoes were only available upon request. ?? Is that true?? Disappointed to be told that at the end of the meal. Set your restaurant up for success. Not failure. read more

Food gets worse every time I visit. Have been eating at First Watch for 25 years. This one is terrible. I'm finally writing a review after 3-4 consecutive bad visits to this location. My french toast was a combination of their lemon ricotta and chocolate chip leftovers. My sausage was cooked very long ago, burnt and then microwaved and delivered after I asked why it was missing . My wife's salad had zero dressing and we had to ask for dressing twice. They never even ask at the register anymore how things were. This is not the first watch you remember. read more

I was requested by management to come back and give them another try and they advised me that they would love to sit down with me and go over what their mission statement is which is a very nice invitation but being who i am people trying to explain something to me is awkward in this particular regard. So i opted to go in unannounced and give them a blind second trial. I will start by saying the second times the charm in this case despite them being very busy we had excellent service this time around including our server who was obviously over seated made time to get my wife a coffee cup before dropping off her load of dishes. I have to be honest off the top of my head o don't know what we all ate but if the service was like this and the food tasted as good as it did this time we would have no problem going there again soon. It's been years since we've been to First Watch. I'm so glad we stopped in today. It's changed a lot since we were last there and I think I'm in love with it now. :D We joined the waitlist for a table on the Yelp app since we knew there'd be at least a 20 minute wait. When we got to the restaurant we still had to wait for our table, but we saved a lot of time by checking in ahead of time. The staff was amazing! Everyone was busting their buns to keep up with the brunch rush. The hostess was checking people in, running the cash register, and seating people. She made it look so easy, but I know I'd be sobbing after trying to keep up with her pace and ability to multitask. Not once did she appear grumpy or tired even though she was handling wave after wave of hungry customers. Our waitress was also wonderful. So cheerful! She was fast and efficient. Everything came out exactly as ordered and our drinks never ran dry. I ordered a Pomegranate Mule (non alcoholic) to drink. I love that First Watch does fresh squeezed juices and mocktails. They are all bright and refreshing. Definitely recommend getting one! For food I ordered the A.M. Superfoods Bowl. It's a coconut milk chia seed yogurt topped with homemade granola and fresh fruit. A side of toast with almond butter is served on the side. 6 hours later and I'm still thinking about how delicious it all was! It was so fresh and healthy tasting. My husband kept trying to steal bites from my bowl. Next time I'm using a fork instead of a spoon so I can protect my bowl better. :D My husband ordered the Power Breakfast Quinoa Bowl. It was quinoa with mushrooms, tomatoes, kale, and Italian sausage all topped with eggs. I snuck a tomato off his plate and I couldn't believe how flavorful it was. The veggies were all roasted with a bit of olive oil. They do a great job of using simple food prep techniques that maximize flavor. Both of us left feeling very satisfied, but not stuffed and weighed down like you do at some brunch places. I love that you can enjoy typical brunch foods - pancakes, bacon, etc - while eating here, but you can also have healthy yet decadent choices too. They also offer seasonal choices, so the menu is always changing, but the classics stick around. Another thing that sets First Watch apart from their competitors is their website. You can easily see nutrition info for each dish. You can even customize your order online and it will instantly update the nutrition info. This is so nice because you can figure out exactly how many calories/fat grams/carbs/etc that you'll save by simply ordering sauce in the side or whatever. The website also clearly marks allergens in their food. This makes planning for vegan, gluten free, or customers with other allergies so much easier. I love being able to have a game plan for my food beforehand so I'm not asking the waitress a million questions. We'll definitely be back soon! Perhaps tomorrow? :) read more

Greeted shortly after we walked in and were told someone would be right with us. A few minutes later they sat us in an area where tables were not spaced 6 feet apart. We started with the donut holes which were yummy and the dipping sauces were hot and tasty. The kiddos ordered the choc chip pancake which was huge. Came here before hitting KC for bridesmaid dress shopping with my friend who is getting married next June and it wasn't too darn bad. First Watch is overall pretty good in general (from my experience). All of our food was brought out quickly and they had various flavors of creamer for the coffee. I think my total was less than $10 for my breakfast/coffee. It's quick, affordable and they have many locations. My only weirded out feeling is that this location felt more like an IHOP and less like a First Watch. Maybe this is common and I just now realized it... Whatever... go eat some brunch! read more

Let me start with First Watch used to be one of our favorites for brunch. It had been quite awhile since we had been back and now I remember why. The food was assembly line omelets, the works omelet let's just say I have had a better omelet down the street at Shawnee Mission Hospital. It was bland with undercooked eggs, the turkey meat/veg blends were put together after the eggs were as almost done not cooked together to add flavor to the eggs. If you are going to serve whole grain toast it is good to serve it where butter would melt on it. They precooked and prebuttered so it was cold with a layer of some kind of spread that was supposed to appear like butter. The service makes you wonder if your son dated and dumped the waitress, and do they pool tips so that who we had could make a living. A waitress from the next table took our drink order, then when our waitress showed up, no greeting, good morning, how is your day going or kiss my butt. We ordered and the a disappearing act for our table began. Someone else brought our food. But we did get a nice drive by how is everything with no chance to let her know we were out of coffee. I was still half way through my omelet and she stops by to give us the check and we can pay on our way out. With restaurants fighting to stay open and experienced servers fighting for shifts and survival. How someplace that used to be the gold standard for quality food and service can put out such poor food with such dismal service is beyond explanation. Now we all know the canned answer of sorry experienced delivered an upward force on an intimate object (sucked), staff off their game yada yada yada. Will be coming from the manager. I came by here on a whim at around 2pm in the afternoon on a Saturday, looking for a place to satisfy my post-workout famish after hitting 24 Hour Fitness just down the street. Having no desire to hit any of the fast food chains and looking for some good brunch, I strolled into First Watch almost by default. And it didn't disappoint whatsoever! Between the atmosphere itself to the hosts and waiters/waitresses, First Watch was very inviting from the beginning. I usually see a packed house (with wait times!) when driving by on the weekends, but this late in the day 30 minutes from their closing time, there were plenty of seats available. I'll get the bad out of the way first: the coffee. The coffee itself was delicious, but the packets of creamer on the table I was sitting at had creamer that was clearly expired (if you put it in your coffee, little "chunks" start floating everywhere. Eww!). I know changing creamers on each table isn't at the top of anyone's priority list, but it certainly brought me to a "WTF" moment and definitely started this meal off on the wrong foot. I ordered the Crepe Omelet and it was QUITE the delicious surprise. It came with potatoes, an english muffin, some sauces/salsa, and pico de gallo and whipped cream on top of the omelet. The crepe-style omelet has a crispy, delicious texture at the top with a creamy, meaty-filled middle. There's a lot of cheese usage inside the omelet, so you may want to ask for less if cheese omelets aren't your thing. I swallowed this thing in about 5 minutes and I reckon you'll be doing the same. Perfect for a post-workout meal and guaranteed to induce a post-meal food coma afterwards. The english muffin and potatoes were good as well and I have no complaints for either. Complemented the omelet perfectly. I believe there are quite a few First Watch locations around town, so definitely don't limit yourself to this one! Outside of the coffee creamer incident I have absolutely no complaints about this place, and their crepe omelet is to die for. I'll certainly be back sometime soon to try the rest of their menu. Wow! This place does a heck of a business! Took a group of 4 teens for brunch on a Saturday and the wait was 30 minutes but luckily was able to check in ahead of time on Yelp! The service was friendly but my big pet peeve of the upsale was so blatant I was just annoyed. The food is pretty darn good. I had the chicken/burrito thing which was delicious. My daughter had the turkey sausage gravy and biscuits which was just ok. Lacked flavor. Their potatoes are weak - blah, not at all crispy, a little under cooked. I would go back for the chicken/burrito thing but I'm honestly not a big breakfast/brunch person so I think there are better choices for the few visits I make a year. read more

We ate here last weekend for brunch since we had a gift card from last Xmas we needed to get rid of. The food here is good, reasonably priced, and the staff was friendly. I had a bacon avocado omelet called the "Bacado" while my wife had the a classic eggs benedict. Both were tasty and were prepared well with quality ingredients. Only thing to ding them for was the out of commission (remodeling) restrooms inside, though they did have a fully functional restroom trailer just outside in the parking lot. Bottomline, this is a good place to come on occasion for breakfast, just wait until their restrooms are fixed. read more

We stopped in because of a 4 star rating and unfortunately we were disappointed on a few points. We ordered the Inspired Italian Omelette with added kale ($1.79 upcharge) and two of the Carrot Cake and Pecan pancakes. The overall flavor and selection of ingredients was good. The omelette was warm, but not hot on arrival. The amount of Kale for the upcharge was pretty pitiful. It was less than a pinch of dried parsley equivalent. The pancakes really underperformed. The idea is good, the execution not so much. They have a great idea with putting the carrots and raisins on the grill before dropping the batter, but there was a huge lack of "carrot cake" flavor. They could blow this out of the water and make it a signature offering with a couple of tweaks. Sift the powdered sugar. Put together a dry mix with nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar, all spice and use a shaker to top the pancakes with the mix. Make a pineapple & vanilla cream cheese frosting and serve in a small cup on the side topped with crushed pineapple. Make a maple and pecan cream cheese frosting and serve on the side in a cup with a couple of pecans. That would make it a home run! The coffee was hot though a bit bitter. The overall service was ok. Positive Personality makes a huge difference. First Watch could be epic with a bit more attention to detail. read more

Ordered my food to go and they didn't disappoint! Had a vegan wrap, same as the day before at another location and it was DELICIOUS!!!!

My husband and I came here for brunch today. Sadly the atmosphere is so loud we couldn't even hear each other talk. Here are kids throwing things, screaming, and their moms are ignoring them. Why does it matter in my review? Because the staff should be doing something about it but instead they aren't. There is a table with 2 business type men yelling at each other to have a normal conversation because it loud. However that also means they are yelling curse words too. For well known breakfast/brunch/lunch place for the elderly it was NOT what I was expecting. Not one bit. The biscuits and turkey gravy are reasonably priced however it looks and tastes nasty! I had one bite and didn't eat anymore. I figured it would be one of those "tastes better than it looks", nope! Our waitress Amanda was very nice and lovely. Very helpful and alert to us (our table). This was my first trip to first watch and let me just say OMG IT WAS PHENOMENAL!! I haven't had breakfast that tasted this amazing since moving back to Kansas City from Denver. Not only was the food epic, the plating and presentation was on par with something you would see on the food network or the cooking channel. The food wasn't the only great thing here either. The staff was absolutely awesome. They were super friendly, courteous, and very attentive to all the guests in the establishment. The decor and atmosphere here was very open and welcoming. It is definitely a place you want to have a meal and enjoy your meal with friends and family. I truly can't wait to return many more times to try so much more of the menu. I had the pork carnitas omelet and it had this authentic taste to it. You can taste the effort that they put into their food. I also had the million dollar bacon and it very much lives up to its name. You truly can not go wrong with anything you order. read more

I love First Watch. As often as we brunch, we do try to find typically unique locations... not chains - but First Watch is just TOO good to ignore. This was our first visit to the new location. The location is large and the inside decor is well done. We came about 11AM on a Sunday - their was about a 20 minute wait. This location (not sure if all) use a texting service, which is really nice. You can see where you are in line, but you're required to download an app. I do not think they offer free Wi-Fi (at least we couldn't pick up any standing outside), so that kinda defeats the purpose of the app.... We were seated in a timely manner. Our server greeted us. We ordered. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. After 38 minutes we got our food. The worst part of it all is that our server never once checked on us or gave us a heads up about the expected delay. The issue is the layout of the restaurant. There's a large wall the blocks the kitchen/prep space, and the wait staff seemed to congregate there. The only time we saw our waitress was when she ran food or greeted a table. You could hear the waitstaff chit chatting behind the wall the entire time (we sat next to it). These are easily things that can be fixed with some attention. Oh yeah...the important stuff - the food. Welp we demolished it. I had the Elevated Egg Sandwich - HOLLER if you love Gruyere cheese! I can't remember what Ryan had. Does that make me a bad wife?
