Was looking for a good burger and found a great one at Murohy's Corner in Lenexa. They don't use just ground chuck but a combination of short rib meat, brisket and ground beef. A delicious burger cooked just right. Service was great too. Manager was friendly. Highly recommend. read more

I was super excited to try this bar! The outside area was great and even had connect 4(large) for the kids to play with. Our server was nice, but seemed a little busy(not as attentive). I tried one of their new drinks off their new seasonal menu, the rum and coke with cream. It was not my favorite, something about it was just off. When we received our appetizers I have to say the fried pickles had to be one of my favorites. The way they fry them are superb! When it came to the shrimp on my Caesar, it actually made me sick:( and my mom's mashed potato's were flavorless and she could not eat them. You have lots of choices in the Lenexa area for a burger or a beer, but Murphy's Corner has a little edge to it. Pretty good eats, great specials, and a full bar makes for a solid dining option for solos, couples, or families. You'll find Murphy's Corner nestled into a strip center facing 87th. The owner apparently did catering prior to opening this space and you can certainly tell with the food. The menu has lots of options, from standard pub fare to housemade pizza to some rather artisanal salads. I'd suggest the chicken sandwich, hand-breaded and fantastic. Or even the Hinkle, roast beef & thinly cut pork tenderloin with a sweet pepper aioli, is a fabulous sandwich. But don't miss that happy hour from 2:00-6:00 on weekdays. The smashburger special runs $6 for a single, and even that is a fair-sized burger, and maybe share a side with someone special. The smashed patty(s) come with the usual accoutrements, including a 'special sauce' that makes the smash a smash. Secret of the pros: get two patties, because it's worth the extra $3 and it's sensational. If there is any knock, then it might be the speed of service. Having stopped in several times, I don't think I have ever had the kind of turnaround that I can get many other places. But the food often makes it worth the wait, so I can only knock it for one star. Pricing is fair and certainly on the level with the area, parking is shared with other spots along the strip, and the atmosphere is wonderful. There are a TON of TVs in all directions, and you can even sit on the patio in nicer weather. It's a neighborhood spot with great food, great atmosphere, and great specials. Get there. read more

Just updating my review. Still a super cool spot, above is all still true, however just having frustrations getting service from some of the staff when I go in on Fridays between 3 and 5pm. They're super nice but 20ish minutes without getting a drink order taken is definitely less than ideal, especially when it's not busy. read more

My workplace placed multiple orders with this restaurant for lunch. When the person picking them up arrived, she was told that all the orders were cancelled due to some kind of "glitch in their system" but she could still see the orders and they could make them. Then she made the person picking them up pay for all of them on her card and of course we all had to pay her back, however, the original charges still went through on all of our cards on the original orders that were supposedly cancelled. When the manager, Jessica, was contacted regarding this she said she would refund those charges for those orders and we gave her all our card numbers to give the refunds. That was 3 weeks ago and still no refunds. The food was mediocre at best. Not a place managed with integrity at all and we paid double for food that was not that good. Staff is super friendly and attentive! I've had a lot of pork tenderloin sandwiches, but this one is right up there at the top! The tenderloin itself was spot on and it doesn't come with your mama's LTOP, I'm talking kitchen pickled onions with this bad boy. Oh, and it comes with their horseradish sauce.... forget about it. Came in on a Sunday evening, caught their open mic night, and they had a solid lineup for some nice entertainment to boot. read more

Last time we were here, this was a Callahans but that was decades ago. The food here is legit. The waitress recommended the meatloaf special and it was fantastic. Came with mashed potatoes and brown gravy and green beans. Huge portion was plenty to eat. Homemade meatloaf is evidently a Friday night special now for $14. I also had a Jim Beam and Coke and the pour was generous. Lots of TVs for watching sports and they have a small area for Live music. Other people around us had great looking burgers and pizza. This is the old Calahan's that was picked up by a whole new crew and rebranded this last spring! The food is fantastic! And now that they are offering brunch expect even more varied kitchen options. Pictured you should find the shrimp and grits from their Brunch! The bar is a full service with quite a few options and extremely competent and accommodating bartenders who can shake you up most concoctions or pour your beer whichever is your pleasure. The staff is amazing! They are quick when they need to be but also attentive and even talkative when the atmosphere allows for it. This IS my new Neighborhood Bar. My turkey melt with choice of side ($10 daily special) was served just five minutes after I ordered at the bar, where the service was attentive and helpful. The sandwich had a generous amount of moist turkey, tasty bacon and melted cheese on buttered, toasted bread, while the cole slaw was creamy and slightly sweet - nice! Amenities included a pool table, two dart boards, a digital juke box, plenty of TVs, a spacious dining area with a mix of booths and tables, 80s rock background music and a patio. First time here! Our waitress for our lunch was great. She was quick to keep our drinks filled and very friendly. We both ordered chicken Cobb salads. They were great. A tad on the more expensive side at $16 for each salad. I also got a side of the pub chips (homemade potato chip) to try. They were $6 and came with a side of ranch. Found this dive bar on Yelp when my friend and I were in the area and looking for a simple but effective lunch spot. Murphy's is located in an unassuming strip mall in Lenexa in the end spot. This place had an extensive menu that wasn't filled with tasty sandwiches, burgers, salads and a few full sized entrees. I wasn't feeling too adventurous on this day but, I was hungry so, I went with a tried and true favorite that I don't usually order out (but make often at home) a classic turkey sandwich. At Murphy's Corner they offer this turkey melt which was beyond delicious it had smokey crispy bacon, creamy zingy garlic aioli, and pickled pink red onion all the perfect components for a elevated turkey club. I also really enjoyed this fun local bottled beer that I had never seen out before! The bottle was a nice take home and I use it as a bud vase for small flowers. My lunch partner also really enjoyed his breaded fried pork tenderloin sandwich and the coleslaw was mild and creamy, not vinegary at all, so it was a plus in my book! Our server was quick with the beer and the food, he was the one who recommended my beer to me based on my preferences and I ended up loving it. read more

This was previously Callahan's and I came only because of football Saturdays and there were other Nebraska fans there. It is now a place I come as much as I can because the food is great (didn't care for Callahan's food) and the atmosphere is even better. They've added live music, their menu has been completely overhauled as well as their drink options. It's no longer a dumpy sports bar with high school boy food. I had the chicken pesto pizza last weekend at the advice of the chef-he didn't stir me wrong. It was delicious with large chunks of white meat chicken and great flavor. I will definitely be trying the meatloaf at some point as well because it looks awesome. The staff is what really drew me to this place the first night. Everyone is energized, fun and treat customers like family. David and Kate are great bartenders who serve with a smile and will make you one of their favorites if you ask. The chef Converse is super cool and friendly. The owner is totally hands on, walks the room and greets anyone and everyone from what I've seen. What's not to like about that? Get on down there, try the food, bring your family, your office for happy hour or just your appetite for a cold beer/couple shots and a pizza to end the night with!!! read more

We had not been to this restaurant since it became Murphy's Corner and we are so glad we stopped in! The decor is cool rock memorabilia and it's a nice spacious place. It has seating inside and the outside has a good shade covering to enjoy the breeze. The waitress was wonderful and very helpful on the menu when I asked about a particular dish being gluten free. She was knowledgeable about celiac. My husband had the fish and chips and he chose to have their homemade potato chips and it comes with a small side of coleslaw. He said it was tasty! I wanted to have the Caesar chicken salad (w/o croutons) but she checked and the dressing had possible gluten so I just changed it to ranch and no croutons for a GF meal. It was a generous fresh salad and the chicken was cooked perfectly and the ranch was good. The bartender was very gracious and we even got to talking to some kind patrons who mentioned my husband's t-shirt. It's a very easy going/chill vibe and we found out they have live music nightly! The onions rings and cheeseburger were excellent. A couple sitting near us had ordered pizza and it looked and smelled delicious! They have quite an extensive menu featuring housemade entrees. We definitely will return to try the fish, chicken, and pork tenderloin. We enjoyed the casual ambiance and attractive decor. My husband loved the many TV screens showing a variety of sports.
