I've been here a number of times across the years. And decided to swing in for a quick little snack. Opted for the corndog nuggets and the tater tots (superior fried potato food) to share with "my girl". We also had beers. There was a pretty good selection for me to choose from on tap, and Katie was able to pick up an NA beer for her to drink. It was a great little lunch. The service takes a bit of a hit on this one. Just a lack of urgency for the staff seems to have an unbalanced cadence. Quick to take the order. Slow to deliver drinks. Quick to deliver food. Quick to check back. Slow to check back again for the check. Slow to process the check. I am not sure if this is a training issue, as many of the staff are young. That said. Other than the cadence, the staff is extremely nice and helpful. This is an old wooden bar. The entire place reeks of the old wood pool hall and is so much fun to just be in. I will be back. You can't go wrong with The Peanut. I usually come to this location often, usually Mondays because my In-Laws love their Monday IPA deal. I think everyone will agree with me, but their buffalo sauce is the best I've tried. Their wings are cooked well and oh man, I'm salivating just thinking about the wings right now. We always get their large fries to pair with the dozen wings, just a perfect combo. The onion rings are seriously good too. When super famished, we also get the BBQ brisket nachos, honestly, I think is the best nachos. If someone finds something better, let me know. I have heard of The Peanuts reputation for years. But I never got a chance to try it, until recently. I was everything I expected. This location is in Overland Park. It is a sports bar. There were plenty of TV's. We were greeted quickly after seating ourselves. We got a chips and salsa appetizer as I knew the wings were cooked after ordering and could take some time to cook. I really liked the salsa. I ordered six wings and no sides. I like that they come with buffalo sauce and you don't choose a heat level. The wings were so delicious. I could only eat four and take the other two with me. Their reputation is spot on. These wings were very large and certainly tasty. I will be back again. read more

I have been to this location, and others like it around the metro, so many times I should have plenty to say. But honestly, my suggestions are simple: get the BLT, make it 'triple' if you wish to share, and you'll be very happy. I know The Peanut is often cited for having outstanding wings, particularly because they don't clip the wings, and while they're very good, the BLT is my go-to. It is a huge sandwich, so if you feel like sharing, the triple option is still two good-size sandwiches. It comes with a side and so that one menu item (at like $17) rapidly becomes two meals for you and a friend. Also of note are their sheet-pan nachos, their housemade mac & cheese, and just about anything else up to and including their salads (I dig the Iceberg Wedge). Each location has a full bar and there's always a drink special, so you have plenty to choose from. Parking at this location is sometimes tricky given the limited number of spaces in Downtown OP. Seating is find your own spot and service will find you, and they're always friendly. Tons of screens with sportsball almost always on, pricing reflects the value, and the reputation speaks for itself. Always a winner! read more

This place blew my expectations away. Just a very simple bar environment; lots of tables. Known for their bacon and chicken wings. Ordered 12 wings with sauce on the side, and a triple blt and blt salad. Absolutely delicious. Nothing super fancy but just good fresh ingredients made well. Wings were massive (the full wing) with their delicious tangy spicy sauce on the side. Blt salad was more like eating some veggies with bacon. Service was attentive and nice even though they were pretty busy. Came on a Sunday with $2.50 tall boys , this place can't be beat on a value perspective!! Will be back for sure read more

I came here on a Sunday around 630 and it was very busy. We didn't realize open seating but we did find a big table for our party open. We were told briefly after that it was open seating and then had service quickly after. We ordered a lot of food (of course wings and BLT) and there was a wait (as expected bc of the wings) but we killed some time with their drink specials which were a DEAL. Everything came out fresh and hot. The fries could have been a bit crispier but everyone enjoyed it fine. The dressings for the wings were large for dipping. The BLT came stacked. I loved it all and we thought we'd have leftovers but we really didn't lol. The staff was friendly even though we had children with us. It was a great time in a great space. I asked my out of town guests how they enjoyed it and they said I picked well so it was a win in my book. read more

I've been to this location several times. I love their wings. Service this evening was a little slower than normal and the place wasn't packed. We ordered a bottle of Melbec only to told after several minutes that they couldn't find a corkscrew to open the bottle. Had to change to a Cabernet with a screw top. I would like to start off by saying. I love The Peanut. Always have. My kids love the Peanut, it's a special occasion request spot for birthdays and milestones. The other night I had worked 10 hrs, I had not eaten and I was craving some hot wings and cheese fries. I ordered what I wanted. Waitress was really nice. Everything was going good, and I was starving. My wings get there and they look a little different, I grab a wing, it's not as hot as I am used to but hey... I am Hungry. It tastes like they reheated it and double dipped it in hot sauce. I grab the second one and I realize that that wing is room temp with a cold wing tip then I touch the other wings and they are COLD. Like cold to the touch. I eat some of my cheese fries and they are room temp. Sigh, I have NEVER EVER had bad food at the Peanut but the wings appeared to have been cooked prior, possibly dipped in sauce then reheated and sauced again. I asked the waitress and she offered to take them back....the wings she brought back were cold again, matter of fact I am sure they were the same wings just a different plate. I gave up. I asked for a box, I finished my cold fries... because I was hungry. I paid my 33.00 tab plus tip. And left hungry, and in much need of a lot of water to wash down all the sodium from the cold, crunchy, double dipped hot wings. Came here for lunch and I was impressed about their food portions and the size of their wings...So Big!! I haven't been here in awhile and my friend and I checked it onto on a Thursday night. Their happy hour was 4-6pm and 10pm-close. I had the salmon salad and the on tap Knob Creek old fashioned. Both were fabulous. I normally am a Manhattan girl but this old fashioned hit the spot. The salmon was grilled perfectly. My friend had the chicken fried chicken which she also enjoyed. The bar area was full of people (seemed happening for a Thursday night) but I was still able to hear my friend without yelling. Will be coming back. read more

I went to The Peanut for the first time tonight and I'll definitely be back! They had chicken fried chicken as a special tonight so I tried that. It was amazing! I also snuck a bite of my friends salmon from the salmon salad that was also a special and it was delicious. They're known for their wings, and I've heard from friends that they're the best around. Heard so many great things about this restaurant that I had to make a stop during my trip to KC. As someone who loves wings, I can assure you that these are some of the top three greatest chicken wings I've ever had. We also got the appetizer combo which had mini corn dogs, fried pickles, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and onion rings making it the perfect array of food to share. The bird bomb was also fantastic and I recommend that as well. As for ambience, the restaurant was big and had the classic sports bar feel with neon bar signs and a plethora of tvs that we were able to watch Sundays night games on. We were seated immediately upon arrival, but the place was definitely busy for a Thursday night. My biggest complaint was the piped in music. It was SO LOUD we were unable to carry on a conversation at our small round table for three. Plus the speaker probably needed to be replaced as it had a horrible squeaky sound.
