You can't go wrong with The Peanut. I usually come to this location often, usually Mondays because my In-Laws love their Monday IPA deal. I think everyone will agree with me, but their buffalo sauce is the best I've tried. Their wings are cooked well and oh man, I'm salivating just thinking about the wings right now. We always get their large fries to pair with the dozen wings, just a perfect combo. The onion rings are seriously good too. When super famished, we also get the BBQ brisket nachos, honestly, I think is the best nachos. If someone finds something better, let me know. Service is pretty awesome too, even on super hectic days. Great with regulars, never late on food or drinks, can't complain. Ambiance-wise, friendly, casual, loud, great place.
I have heard of The Peanuts reputation for years. But I never got a chance to try it, until recently. I was everything I expected. This location is in Overland Park. It is a sports bar. There were plenty of TV's. We were greeted quickly after seating ourselves. We got a chips and salsa appetizer as I knew the wings were cooked after ordering and could take some time to cook. I really liked the salsa. I ordered six wings and no sides. I like that they come with buffalo sauce and you don't choose a heat level. The wings were so delicious. I could only eat four and take the other two with me. Their reputation is spot on. These wings were very large and certainly tasty. I will be back again.
I have been to this location, and others like it around the metro, so many times I should have plenty to say. But honestly, my suggestions are simple: get the BLT, make it 'triple' if you wish to share, and you'll be very happy. I know The Peanut is often cited for having outstanding wings, particularly because they don't clip the wings, and while they're very good, the BLT is my go-to. It is a huge sandwich, so if you feel like sharing, the triple option is still two good-size sandwiches. It comes with a side and so that one menu item (at like $17) rapidly becomes two meals for you and a friend. Also of note are their sheet-pan nachos, their housemade mac & cheese, and just about anything else up to and including their salads (I dig the Iceberg Wedge). Each location has a full bar and there's always a drink special, so you have plenty to choose from. Parking at this location is sometimes tricky given the limited number of spaces in Downtown OP. Seating is find your own spot and service will find you, and they're always friendly. Tons of screens with sportsball almost always on, pricing reflects the value, and the reputation speaks for itself. Always a winner!
This place blew my expectations away. Just a very simple bar environment; lots of tables. Known for their bacon and chicken wings. Ordered 12 wings with sauce on the side, and a triple blt and blt salad. Absolutely delicious. Nothing super fancy but just good fresh ingredients made well. Wings were massive (the full wing) with their delicious tangy spicy sauce on the side. Blt salad was more like eating some veggies with bacon. Service was attentive and nice even though they were pretty busy. Came on a Sunday with $2.50 tall boys , this place can't be beat on a value perspective!! Will be back for sure
I came here on a Sunday around 630 and it was very busy. We didn't realize open seating but we did find a big table for our party open. We were told briefly after that it was open seating and then had service quickly after. We ordered a lot of food (of course wings and BLT) and there was a wait (as expected bc of the wings) but we killed some time with their drink specials which were a DEAL. Everything came out fresh and hot. The fries could have been a bit crispier but everyone enjoyed it fine. The dressings for the wings were large for dipping. The BLT came stacked. I loved it all and we thought we'd have leftovers but we really didn't lol. The staff was friendly even though we had children with us. It was a great time in a great space. I asked my out of town guests how they enjoyed it and they said I picked well so it was a win in my book.
I've been to this location several times. I love their wings. Service this evening was a little slower than normal and the place wasn't packed. We ordered a bottle of Melbec only to told after several minutes that they couldn't find a corkscrew to open the bottle. Had to change to a Cabernet with a screw top. For a screw top wine, this Cab (Carmel Road), was actually good and went well with the wings.
I was driving through Kansas a few weeks ago and finally reached that point where I needed to stop for food and reset for a bit. One thing about me is that whenever I'm traveling, especially through states I've never been to before, I make it a mission to try local wing spots. Good wings tell you a lot about a place. After searching around for a while, I kept coming across The Peanut. The reviews were strong, the photos looked legit, and luckily I wasn't too far away, so the decision was made. I got there sometime around mid-afternoon, probably between 2 and 3, so the place wasn't too crowded. That gave everything a relaxed feel. Service was quick, attentive, and before long the reason I came was sitting right in front of me. The wings arrived steaming hot, the kind where you know they came straight from the fryer and weren't sitting around waiting to be served. They do whole wings here, which I always appreciate because it feels more substantial and gives the wings more character. Breaking apart the drum and flat, sauce immediately starts getting everywhere, which honestly is always a good sign to me. I like my wings messy. If I'm staying clean while eating wings, something probably went wrong. The first bite caught me off guard in the best way possible. The sauce immediately stood out. Most buffalo sauces follow a familiar formula, usually some variation of a classic cayenne-based hot sauce, but The Peanut somehow made theirs taste distinct. Maybe it's the seasoning blend, maybe it's the balance of butter and heat, maybe it's something else entirely, but it tasted like a sauce made specifically for their wings instead of something poured from a generic bottle. It had a deeper flavor than I expected, with enough heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming the actual taste of the chicken. And the wings themselves absolutely held up. The meat was juicy throughout, not just near the center, and you could actually see the seasoning worked into the skin. They had a solid texture too. The outside had some crisp to it, though personally I would have liked just a little more crunch. Another minute or two in the fryer probably would have pushed these into an even higher tier for me. Still, that's more preference than criticism because I genuinely enjoyed every wing on the plate. What I appreciated most was that these wings had an identity. A lot of places make decent bar wings, but very few make wings that feel memorable. Here, the sauce is what separates them. You could blindfold someone familiar with wings and they would probably know exactly where these came from after one bite. Being from the Chicago area, I've had some incredible wings over the years, so my standards are pretty high. These absolutely belong above your average sports bar wing. They're unique, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Would I go back? Without question. Maybe not tomorrow, considering Kansas isn't exactly around the corner, but next time I'm driving through, this will definitely be one of my stops. Rating: 8.45/10
It's been awhile but service is superb and the food is excellent, I sit at the bar and the bartender are the best ! Parking is a walk but coming here is worth it, never had a bad meal, customer are friendly and glad to meet them, small group in the afternoon but that makes it special
Always a good experience. Can be hard to find a table on busy nights but definitely worth the wait. We always get their family wings and BLT.
Came here for lunch and I was impressed about their food portions and the size of their wings...So Big!! I had the BLT which was pretty tasty, and had one of my daughter's mini corn dogs which were also good. Their wings are a popular item and they are certainly good in size. The service here was great. Our waitress was extremely friendly and took good care of our table. This is a good sports bar and the ambiance fits both family and friends alike.
It's the perfect dive-ish bar. I enjoy happy hour for certain food items and drinks (late night is fun too) and the BLTs and Wings are delicious. A great place to chill on the weekend nights. It's been a hit or miss with service lately but it's never been a huge problem.

This review is for happy hour for two at a high top table in the bar on a Wednesday afternoon in mid June. service: Sheila was an excellent waitstaff. Right there and helpful with suggestions. bar: Great tap choices and plenty of HH specials. I drank the always reliable Boulevard Space Camper IPA ($4 on HH as of 06/2026). food: Everything on the menu is exceptional! My single BLT was simply perfect ($13) and my wife's HH sliders (with surprise o-rings!) were amazing ($10). details: There's indoor restaurant seating, indoor bar seating, and outdoor seating. Parking is Santa Fe Drive in Overland Park, so just be patient. read more
I've been here a number of times across the years. And decided to swing in for a quick little snack. Opted for the corndog nuggets and the tater tots (superior fried potato food) to share with "my girl". We also had beers. There was a pretty good selection for me to choose from on tap, and Katie was able to pick up an NA beer for her to drink. It was a great little lunch. The service takes a bit of a hit on this one. Just a lack of urgency for the staff seems to have an unbalanced cadence. Quick to take the order. Slow to deliver drinks. Quick to deliver food. Quick to check back. Slow to check back again for the check. Slow to process the check. I am not sure if this is a training issue, as many of the staff are young. That said. Other than the cadence, the staff is extremely nice and helpful. This is an old wooden bar. The entire place reeks of the old wood pool hall and is so much fun to just be in. I will be back. Another quick stop likely. read more

Southwest eggrolls were crunchy and a bit spicy, but good and yummy. Salad was simple, hard to mess up. Mac and cheese with Buffalo chicken was great, filling and a bit spicy. Wings were great, came out piping hot and with lots of sauce. Fries were nothing special, but make for an okay side. Atmosphere was nice, service was a bit busy on Monday afternoon. read more

Nice neighborhood bar! Sports bar ambiance - low lighting, loud music, large TVs - and friendly, attentive service. The highlight of our dinner was definitely the buffalo chicken wings - they were the perfect amount of spicy with a tangy blue cheese sauce. Greek salad was solid. Fries and buffalo chicken dip were just ok and our chips for dipping were too thin to hold the dip. Recommend a visit, order the wings! read more

I think i spent a total of 7 hours here for Super bowl sunday. The food and the service was absolutely incredible. The chicken wings and the nachos are a must have- deep fried to perfection. read more
I haven't been here in awhile and my friend and I checked it onto on a Thursday night. Their happy hour was 4-6pm and 10pm-close. I had the salmon salad and the on tap Knob Creek old fashioned. Both were fabulous. I normally am a Manhattan girl but this old fashioned hit the spot. The salmon was grilled perfectly. My friend had the chicken fried chicken which she also enjoyed. The bar area was full of people (seemed happening for a Thursday night) but I was still able to hear my friend without yelling. Will be coming back. read more
I went to The Peanut for the first time tonight and I'll definitely be back! They had chicken fried chicken as a special tonight so I tried that. It was amazing! I also snuck a bite of my friends salmon from the salmon salad that was also a special and it was delicious. They're known for their wings, and I've heard from friends that they're the best around. Our server was friendly & made some great recommendations. It's loud in there, but that's to be expected of a sports bar. read more

Heard so many great things about this restaurant that I had to make a stop during my trip to KC. As someone who loves wings, I can assure you that these are some of the top three greatest chicken wings I've ever had. We also got the appetizer combo which had mini corn dogs, fried pickles, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and onion rings making it the perfect array of food to share. The bird bomb was also fantastic and I recommend that as well. As for ambience, the restaurant was big and had the classic sports bar feel with neon bar signs and a plethora of tvs that we were able to watch Sundays night games on. Our waitress was super cool and provided great hospitality. The food and drinks weren't unreasonably priced as well. read more
The Peanut in Kansas City serves arguably the best wings in and around KC...hands-down. These massive wings will have you craving to come back for more. My best recommendation is to add cheese on top of the crinkle cut fries...you won't regret it! I like to order the 3 wings and fries entree. Along with tasty wings and crinkle cut fries, you can also order delicious items such as nachos, appetizer dips, sandwiches, salads, and even Sunday brunch at some of the locations. There are a few different locations in the greater Kansas City area to enjoy these mouth watering wings. There is plenty of seating at this location and the service is very quick. Add the Peanut to your KC Bucket List today! read more
I was craving some chicken wings today and decided to stop by the peanut to curve my craving! We ordered the half dozen buffalo wings and tried the happy hour Buffalo dip. Happy runs from 3-6 Monday through Friday. Be prepare to wait 20 minutes per wing order, every order is made fresh (it's worth it!!) As soon as I walked in my nose was hit with that dive bar kitchen smell. Just were you want to be on a Friday after work. read more

Love the Peanut! Their wings really are the best. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to stick with the wings every visit, but they do have other great options. The BLT is great and their burgers and chicken tenders are good. I most recently got the Peanut burger and loved it! If I don't get the wings I'll get this burger the next time that I am in. The fries are great too (they are the perfect amount of crispy!) the nachos are just ok in my opinion but even a half order is a huge amount so you do get a lot of food. This is a great spot to watch a game or even stop by for lunch. Definitely recommend! read more
