I finally found a place that has one of the best chicken fried steak meals. It is hand breaded and tastes just like my grandmas chicken fried steak. I will definitely be back. Man the carrot cake is to die for! Thanks Lisa for recommendation! Top notch experience from food, service and ambiance! read more

Great little bar & grille establishment in the Shawnee Mission West area. If you're looking for a local watering hole, a great burger, or maybe some bar trivia, then Beck's is the place. Easy to find off of 87th, the space is not huge, but there's plenty of seating, especially at the bar. Daily specials and a happy hour that runs until 6 PM during the week, so there is plenty from which to choose. Burger night (Mondays?) is $2 off the specialty burgers, and I recommend that Diablo Burger if you like a little heat. Sliced jalapeños & pineapple atop a 1/2 lb. burger with a sweet heat sauce, this burger will hit just right. Service is friendly and fast and the prices are right on par with the market. You can get in and out with a couple of burgers and a couple of drinks during special time for around $45 and that's a pretty good deal with a better value to boot. If you have a kid at SM West, then you might make this a pre-game event spot or a place to have refreshments afterwards. Great spot! read more

Very chill atmosphere- came in after hiking for the day and didn't feel awkward rolling up in our hiking clothes. Wings were perfection- crispy and tender. Pork sandwich was huge! I cut it in half and took the rest of it home. I got horseradish and mayo to top it with. Fries are amazing- thin cut but still like steak fries. Hubby loved the burger but said it could use a litttttle more salt. Gary Gary was a great server, attentive and kind. A gem in OP! read more

My wife and I dropped in at Beck's last week for a late dinner. We ordered the Pork Tender and special fries. The sandwich was HUGE, hot, not greasy and delicious. It couldn't have been better. Our server suggested that we try the carrot cake for desert. It's home made. It was totally awesome. Great food, great service, cold beer, reasonably priced. We'll be back! read more

Absolutely recommend! Fantastic food, kind people, and great vibe. We frequent this spot.

Great neighborhood sports bar! Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes & gravy & corn all terrific!!

This is a friendly bar with a great, inviting feel. On any given day, you will find a cadre of regulars, and as with most neighborhood bars, a few characters. Lots of TVs to watch a plethora of sporting events. The food is great, and they offer at least one food special every day. The Burgers are outstanding, as is the Cobb Salad. Everything that I have ever tried was really good to great. A notch or two above normal 'bar food'. Happy hour is from 3 to 6 weekdays and is usually pretty busy, so arrive early if you want a seat at the bar. They offer some fun twists on trivia nights, and occasionally there will be a live performer or DJ. They offer a limited menu for late night food after the full kitchen closes. If you're in the area, give this place a try, and you will definitely want to return. read more

The best pork tender in KC....period. Recommended by the bartender...that we split it it'd be so large. It was - and that's a mighty fine server. Casual - and I love casual atmosphere. Not in town often but will be back. read more

The burger and fries were amazing. The burger had a nice char on it. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was spot on!

Food was fine ambiance not so good service was ok. Really found place depressing don't think I'll be back.

We wandered into this place for a burger on a Friday night, because of Yelp. Nice little sports bar inside, and it was pretty busy when we arrived. We received great service from the bartender (we were at a table, and he served us), along with a big burger and fries, decent chicken fried steak. What will definitely get me to drive across town again and bring my friends was the karaoke! We had no idea, but as soon as the Royals game ended, they started up karaoke, and it did not disappoint. Clearly there are patrons here that come just for that. So whether you want a good burger, a cocktail or pure people watching entertainment, this is your place in OP! read more

We were hungry for burgers and had read some good reviews about Becks. We gave it a go. The burgers were indeed really good. The service was as good as could be expected. Only two people working and they did a great job. We had to wait a little bit but not so long that it was a problem. Is your typical neighborhood place so the atmosphere is conducive to a "come as you are" kind of place. Honestly, the only thing we didn't care for was the food being served on a cutting board rather than a plate. But I'm kind of fussy like that so probably not an issue for most people. read more

The atmosphere was perfectly divey. The food was phenomenal and the price of the beer during happy hour was reasonably priced. The people who ran the reatraunt were very pleasant. read more

I first chose this place due to it always being at the top of the list when you search on Yelp! It's a good thing they do that because once you arrive to the place, it's probably not one I would have considered just by judging from the outside. Once you go inside, you are quickly greeted by someone friendly and you are able to sit wherever you want. The main event is truly their chicken fried entrees. My fiancé and I am come and he gets the chicken fried steak and I get the chicken fried chicken. They are to die for!! The portion sizes are huge!! They also come with corn or green beans, a biscuit, and mashed potatoes. The biscuit and mashed potatoes are some of the best I have ever had of either. So, if you come by this place, don't be fooled. It's a great place to get a quick meal without a reservation, or stop in and have a drink. read more

BECKS PLACE offers a relaxing lunch and good food. My partner and I shared a tenderloin (very generous with the tenderloin portion)! Today is a Thursday and the restaurant was pleasantly quiet with only two other small groups dining. Becks Place is a friendly and unique bar-food establishment. Plenty of TVs surround you, so wherever you sit your viewing is easy. Our service was good and we did not wait long for a server. She was pleasant and delivered our food in a decent amount of time. We plan to return. read more

This is a new local bar by me. I expected a local bar, but didn't know it would be a townie bar. For those who don't know a townie bar is more local than a local bar. I was blown away by how busy it was and by how many in that busy crowd were regulars. Also surprised with the variety of the crowd. Old, young, singles, couples. And when they were getting slammed, the staff stepped up. No one was waiting long for a drink when they were so busy I couldn't see through the room, and even me eating my burger in the corner wasn't forgotten. Couldn't say more about the food. A groups of guys down the bar from me asked what the hell did I order looking at the massive burger I was served. It was just one of their standard 1/2 pound burgers. I appreciate how it was served with all the fixings on the side. It was delicious. If you live in OP or nearby in JOCO, you should check this place out. Just know it ain't for pretentious clowns, it's for the townies. read more

We write looking for a place to go after the baseball games and check out this website and were drawn by the great photos of their food. So just to be honest the outside appearance was like you could easily drive by and not stop. But I am glad we did! The food was amazing everything was delicious and unique. It was a really great stop for a great meal and service was top notch. I'll definitely be heading back next time we get a chance. read more

Friendly and fun place! Great food tops it off! Love game nights, trivia is the bomb! Cold beer and awesome choice if drinks.

Not much interior changes from its former owners and generic bar food choices. Stopped by to watch my bf play poker and have a drink. It was extremely warm in there with no ac running. Their fans and mini ac wasn't getting the job done. The taste of my bf pork tenderloin was good and the fried pickles were hot but too salty for me. No cocktail menu and the server seemed to be ok with just providing service. read more

A new local favorite. Very unassuming spot from the outside, but a very upbeat vibe inside. Becks has a pretty traditional bar menu and a solid beer list. I really enjoyed my burger and tots. Still an amazing place and have visited several times sense my initial review. The service, food and entertainment remain fabulous!

No frills. Good food, dive bar & grille ambiance. Service is nice and accommodating, but can be slow. Lots of regulars, good-sized portions. It won't be the best American bar food you've ever had, but you might be pleasantly surprised. read more

The food is top notch, a step up from typical bar food, it's more like a family hometown diner with the menu! 10/10 would recommend! The salads are fresh and HUGE. They have terrific daily specials too! I especially like Tuesdays Mexican food specials and Karaoke. We also stop by to watch our favorite sports on one of their multiple TV's! They have a brand new jukebox. You can buy lottery pulls, play keno or try your luck getting the latest power ball all while enjoying the atmosphere, drinks and good company!!! Service is excellent and friendly. My family enjoys this local treasure! read more

Only been there before 2-3 p.m. but we could expect the same at any time. Probably been back at least a dozen+ times over the last year, or so! Good Food!!! read more

Found this place on an outing about a month ago, decided to try it last night. Very good place for dinner and drinks. They have week long specials and Fridays are steak night, kinda like a KC strip. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful for first timers , knew the menu well and had suggestions for first timers. The cook had the steak spot on , sorry didn't get pics but will be back. The owners came out to mingle with the customers and asked how their meal was, that says a lot about this place. Most don't care, just get in and get out. We will return, read more

Local neighborhood bar with inviting staff, great specials & a good food menu. The menu has a lot of options, just not many vegetarian or pescatarian choices. A separate "late night" menu comes out at 9 with some more options as well. Ordered garlic cheese curds and some queso and they were both really good. The staff was great and very attentive. You can either sit at the bar or have a waitress come to your table. We were there on a karaoke night, and you can tell there are a lot of regulars who love to keep coming back. Nice patio also!
