However, when another staff member brought out our food, she looked at us and said, "Why you all hiding?" My husband almost responded, but I stopped him. She did not know that her comment hit a sore spot, especially when we didn't choose to be seated away from everyone else. As more guests arrived, the pattern continued: they were guided to the main dining area while we remained isolated. The entire experience felt discriminatory, and it left us with the impression that we were not "good enough" for the rest of the restaurant. My husband still left a generous tip because we believe in treating service staff fairly -- regardless of how we are treated. We will not be returning to this location. Perhaps the Barton Springs restaurant is different, but the Arboretum site left us feeling unwelcome. When we finally sat down at a regular table, we waited about 15 minutes without a server coming by. I eventually flagged a server down, and we got our order under way. We requested the manager stop by to tell him about the issue with the reservation and the fact that his hostess needs additional training, and surprise, the manager was also not helpful. He did apologize for our reservation being lost, but blamed it on the system and denied any responsibility for taking care of it - basically just told us that "life is life". He did not offer a discount or any kind of relief for the setbacks or bad service. I wasn't expecting the world or anything, but good hospitality dictates that you do more that basically tell us to just deal with it. For the food: the sushi was pretty gnarly - it looked like somebody was angry at the fish when they were slicing. Most things needed salt. Steak and fried rice was good, but the vegetables were pretty much raw. I can forgive quite a bit when it comes to service, especially on graduation/mother's day weekend. The green beans were so flavorful and had the perfect texture. The Smokey and the Bramble cocktail featured Fósforo Ensamble Mezcal, Bombay Sapphire Gin, lemon juice, blackberry purée, and club soda. It was a very refreshing and flavorful craft cocktail that paired well with my meal. Great atmosphere for a group dinner and the service kept everything moving smoothly for our team. When I called the store to figure out what happened, the staff hung up on me twice. When I finally got ahold of someone, the employee admitted the tenders were sitting right there on their counter because they forgot to hand them to the driver. ​Instead of taking accountability and making it right, the employee told us we could come pick them up. When I explained we didn't have a car, he flatly said it was "too far" for them to bring it to us and told us to just get a refund from Grubhub. ​A refund doesn't feed a family. By the time this unfolded, every other decent food option nearby was closed. Thanks to this store's complete negligence, rude staff, and lack of care, my family--including my children--had to go to bed hungry on our vacation. Absolutely disgraceful service. Avoid this place.
