After puking my guts out for two days i finally can write this review. Went through the drive thru and ordered Spicy Tuna roll and my boyfriend a Crunchie Roll. We also settled on an appetizer of tempura shrimp. My Roll looked weird and light pink on the bottom so i stopped eating halfway through. My boyfriend, however was completely fine as he didn't have any of my roll. a few hours later i am in EXCRUCIATING pain. Throwing up started that night and haven't been able to hold anything down, (NOT EVEN WATER), since. i am a usual customer at this establishment and have had no complaints till they decided to poison me. i am truly upset at this experience and will NEVER be coming back. read more

This place is fairly expensive but their freshly made sushi is great. Their tempura vegetables are also fantastic!

I found this spot by searching on Yelp and I'm not disappointed at all! Not only do they have a $5.99 Hibachi Chicken Special and $4.75 sushi rolls, but they also have a drive-thru as well! You seriously can't go wrong with this place. I tried their spicy salmon roll. The fish quality was great and it was the SPICIEST salmon roll I've ever had so be cautious if you can't handle spicy food. As for me, it hit the spot! I will be again soon. (I didn't take a photo of the hibachi chicken special but it was piled up to the brim!!!) read more

Firexbox - It's so bad that the rolls were breaking apart - Japanese Near Me - Dallas, Texas

This unassuming little place does not look like much, but their food speaks for itself. The Philadelphia rolls are as good as any I've had and they tempura veggies stay crispy even after a bit of a drive. Their steak teriyaki bowl is amazing too! read more

Quick review: The Lo Mein and Combo fried rice were tasty. The reason for the rating is due to food poisoning I got eating the sushi. I ordered a Salmon Avocado roll. I do not believe it was fresh - tasted stale and fishy. Fresh sushi does not have an overly fishy taste. read more

For the price it's ok portions are a bit small. Got the rock roll it was really good the price for a half roll was almost 11$. The tempura shrimp was really good. I would go back and try some more tho. read more

Go here!! The outside is misleading. Great service, delicious, FAST sushi. I loved going here. Almost didn't, because it looked so sketchy. Glad I gave the ugly place a chance. It's scary on the outside but magical on the inside. read more

My wife and I have eaten here every Monday for almost the last 4 years. I have never had a bad piece of fish or anything less than perfectly fresh. It's not super-fancy like Sushi Zushi or Sasa, but the prices are fantastic for what you get. I saw it had been open for about a year before I finally got the courage to order there (it looks like a renovated Taco Bell, which doesn't turn me onto the notion of well-prepared raw fish), and our lives haven't been the same since. A true Lake Highlands delight. And BYOB helps too! read more

Nice little hole in the wall spot. They make good food for a good price the sushi is on average 7.99 a roll which is perfect for anyone wanting so satisfy a lunchtime sushi craving but on a budget. I'll visit if I'm in the area again or in two years when I'm in training again. read more

My partner at work took me here today. He found worms in his broccoli after ordering the shrimp bento. I ordered the chicken bento. We both asked for a refund since the broccoli comes out of the same bin in their kitchen. They only refunded him and not me for the meal since it is "rare" that it happens. This proves that they are not washing their vegetables before putting them in the prepped bin. The broccoli for every dish was coming out of the same bin and refused to refund my purchase. This is disgusting and disgraceful. read more

Come here for the fresh sushi. They have other things on the menu like lomein and tempura, but they aren't that great. The sushi is very good. And they even have a drive through. read more

Amazing, delicious quality foods! I love how the bento boxes have a variety of foods. Instead of rice, they substitute it with veggies, which I love also! It's also inexpensive, definitely going back to try all others. Great customer service also! Thank you Team Firexbox, you're all appreciated! read more

i love the people that work here they're always so nice. food is perfect and delicious, also super quickly made. i can't find anything to complain about. also, the portions are really nice :) and i get lots of sauces with my order. read more

I have to take out dinner from here at least once a week. NY Roll and CA roll are amazing

This is so not a place to dine in. I remember reading the reviews to not dine-in, but my friend and i didn't have a place to eat, so we decided to eat there... So many awkward eye contacts with the people working there. There's no place for me to look at while eating. Plus the location is in a sketchy area, there were a couple of guys also dining there.. They kept glancing at me and my friend... I ordered the Steak Bento Box and the Garland Roll. The steak bites were nice and juicy. I would have like it more if there was rice to eat with it. The tempura vegetables and the dumplings were average. The California rolls had a weird grainy texture to it. I hope I'm not the only one who experienced that. The Garland Roll was alright. It was pretty skimpy, but I guess you'll get what you pay for at a location like this. The eel and avocado on top of the roll were normal. I was hoping to have some crabmeat along with the tempura shrimp inside the roll (before I ate the Cali rolls). Will I come back? Yes, only for takeouts. I'm not too sure about the sushi, but I'll get the hibachi chicken plate for $4.99 for sure. read more

The food here is 5 star. I love love love the hibachi chicken and the rainbow rolls are wonderfully fresh and tasty. There is no table service or fancy decor. The girl that takes orders is sweet and the cooks are awesome though. If you live or work any where near it, You gotta go by there!! read more

Cool, cheap little sushi spot in the neighborhood. I love to stop on my way home to grab a roll when I'm hungry. Prices are great and I'm on a mission to try each and every roll they have. Today was the Garland Roll. Good amount of eel, but could've had a bit more avocado. I also like that the rolls don't have a huge amount of rice. Just enough for a quick snack; not too filling. Oh and they have a drive thru which makes it super convenient after a long day and you want to grab a light dinner or pre dinner snack. In the past, I've had the steak bento and I really enjoy the volcano roll. Those little bites of scallop get me every time, although I have to make myself stay away from the spicy mayo. Guess I'll start planning for my next drive thru. read more

Has its highs and lows. Not a big fan of the fried rice or the grilled veggies from the hibachi grill. However there are plenty of great things about this place. The hibachi chicken is at a great price. I highly recommend some of the rolls. The Newyork roll, The Garland roll, and the Rock Roll are awesome. And the bento boxes are tasty as well. I recommend the shrimp, scallop, or salmon bento box. read more

Normally this place is pretty good but today my order was crap. For lack of better words, I ordered the avocado roll trying to be healthy along w the veggie rice. Rice was decent despite the mushrooms, but my roll was pure horrible. Sticky rice and not even closed al the way. Not sure if I'll be back unless they rectify things. read more

Yes. 5 Stars. Wanna fight about it? When viewing this place from the street you think to yourself, aw hell nah - next! But wait...there's more. Go in. See the sights and sounds. Fresh sushi, fresh made hibachi, the smells, the $4.99 hibachi chicken dinner. The subsequent full stomach and then a nap. All very nice. MP and I went one night after he swore it wasn't scary and hot damn he was right. We started with the tempura veggies (I mean, fried broccoli...duh), then I got the shrimp hibachi. Seriously, so good! We got the unagi sushi roll and some other roll I don't remember because I was stuffing it through my food hole. MP loves the steak hibachi (men). The goyza is delicious too, and the sauces...yes. Always friendly, always fast, huge portions and always delicious. Oh, and they have a drive thru! You don't even have to get out of your car for sushi!! It's definitely one of those places you need to put on your list immediately and then send me a sushi roll as a thank you. You're welcome. read more

Wouldn't have thought twice about stepping into this establishment with it's crazy flaming sign not to mention the confusion of the name of this place (other sources have it as Fire Box, Fire xBox, etc..which is it??). You can tell that this used to be some sort of fast food joint. Definitely doesn't add to the experience the way you would like. Being situated in this part of town doesn't help, either. Get past these things and you'll be glad you put all of it behind you. The signs blast their most popular deal: Chicken Teriyaki Hibachi for ONLY $3.99. Most other times I would have been satisfied with this great offer, but last night a group of us decided to sample as much of their sushi menu as possible. We ordered 9 rolls between 4 people and our entire order was on our table in less than 10 minutes. For the best deals, you should definitely check out their sushi combos priced at $6.49. A spicy tuna roll AND a spicy salmon roll with 8 pieces each at this price point? That comes out to less than 50 cents a piece. How do these guys even make money?? Their specialty rolls max out at $6.99 which include many rolls that you would find at most other Japanese restaurants like a Caterpillar Roll, Rainbow Roll and Dragon Roll. The one exception is the Volcano Roll, which comes out to $7.99 and to be honest it's the one roll that I would have done without as it is Hea-vy with a Capital H. If you're a mayo lover than the Volcano Roll is made for you. My favorite 3 rolls were the Garland, Caterpillar and New York rolls. Highly recommended and I'm sure Tiffany D., Paul H. and Larry T. would concur. We barely finished the rolls and everyone was completely satisfied. 12 hours later and still no explosive diarrhea. Yay! If you go in with the expectation that you'll be dining in a Michelin restaurant you'll find yourself disappointed. Don't think that. You're in Northeast Dallas. But you're also in a place that will give you the best deal in town. Possibly in the US. Can't beat Firexbox! ..or whatever this place is called. read more

There are ghetto tacos and these my friend- are the elusive ghetto sushi! Yatta! So don't be a snob when you walk through these ex-Taco Bell doors. I've been here twice and I've never left hungry. Yayy for crazy cheap sushi and yayyyy for not getting sick afterwards. The prices here are like happy hour prices but all day. ^_^ $7.99 for a specialty roll? Hell yea! This place has a strange name and it was hard to figure out what the heck it was. The common consensus is that it's Fire Xbox. These are the four rolls we ordered and ordered again. Caterpillar toll Cowboy roll Garland roll Rock roll They're all pretty good. They can go a little crazy with the sauce so if you like it a little bit less sauce, tell them or else your rolls will be drenched. They're super generous like that. read more

First and foremost, this review is all about the food!! Ambiance is not always necessary when it comes to reviews. We can all agree that sushi can be a bit pricey no matter what you get, sushi, rolls, sashimi (um, yes, very overpriced for what you get). But it's all something that I crave and fork over the hard earned cash for it. When my husband and I drove by this place when they were first renovating it (ok, not that much renovation since it still looks like a Taco Bueno it had probably once been.) But when it said Sushi and Hibachi and below it was $3.99 Habachi special, we both were positive that this place was too cheap to be good. Once it finally opened, we decided to give it a try. I mean, we don't have that many good places to eat in LH, especially not sushi (which we usually get from Kroger when we don't feel like going to a restaurant)! Well, if you haven't been, you MUST go now!! Not only do they stick to their word of "Fast, Fresh and Affordable", they are always consistent!! We have been there about a dozen times and everything we have ordered off the sushi menu has been just as good as if we had gone to Blue Fish or some other sushi restaurant. And nothing, including a rainbow roll is over $7!!!! Even the sashimi, 3 HUGE slices for only $4!! Two pieces of sushi for under $3!! I mean, come on, tasty and cheap! It's unheard of these days! We hope this place stays open for years to come. I know we will try our best to keep it in business with our once, sometimes twice a week visit! Also, and if you don't feel like eating there, they have a drive thru!! SCORE!!! read more

Decor: 4/5 -Look for a tall and large sign that says "SUSHI HIBACHI", you're at the right place. -Is the name Fire Box or Fire X Box? Service: 4/5 -You order at the counter and pick up the food when it is ready. We ordered 9 rolls, the preparation time took about 6-8 minutes Food: 5/5 -You can't beat the price. Specialty rolls starting at $6.79 up to $7.99, these prices are unheard of. Normally one specialty roll is already in the $12-15 range. -2 regular rolls for less than $6, Fried rice and chicken for $3.99. -I came with 3 other Elites and we all agreed to eat 9 rolls family style (7 specialty and 2 regular rolls). You will be more than content. Beware though, they are a bit too generous with the spicy mayo (Volcano roll) -My favorite rolls were the caterpillar, new york, texas tornado, garland and the rock roll. read more

Great food, made CRAZY hot, FAST. They have a freaking drive through, yeah that fast. I watched them make my orders and everything was really good quality. Who'd a thought you could pull off serving sushi & bento boxes in a fast-food venue? It's not highbrow, but dayum, this sushi and goyoza are GREAT, fresh, and very inexpensive! Since they're about 4 blocks from my house, I've managed to get there three times in five days. Their Dragon, Cowboy, and Caterpillar rolls are exceptional, and their goyoza are perfect. Have yet to try the udon, but will make it back soon. If you are anywhere near Lake Highlands, EAT HERE! EAT LOCAL! read more

I've gone three times and I tend to have a good overall experience. Not spectacular but definitely getting what you pay for. I love the convenience of the drive-thru sushi and all though I was put off by the idea at first they do have good, fresh tasing sushi. The only things I don't like is how they box raw, cold sushi and warm, tempura rolls in the same container. Also the staff is not very warm and welcoming but I can get past that since I use the drive thru. read more

Just went today for lunch. Our fellow Yelpers are right on the money with this place. The one and only negative. It is a very small place. One door in and the same one out. A little cramped in that regard and a bit weird if you're trying to get out while there is a line of people. And yes, there was. The sushi here is just about as good as any in Dallas. I have eaten a lot of sushi too. And no, not California and Philly rolls. People who say they eat sushi and that are funny to me. All their rolls are under $7.00. Yes, $7.00. And we are talking the "fancy" ones you would spend $12-18 for anywhere else. They were fresh, large, well presented and extremely delicious. Oh, one other thing...Don't expect to be served. You get a number as if you were at a burger joint. But, it is well worth it. I'll definitely be back... Ciao read more

The food was good, but unfortunately they raised the price. So no longer the must go place for me...

The seating is poor by design. Do not go here with more than a party of 2. I'm currently sharing a seat with another man (well I think he is a man by overwhelming smell of Axe body spray). The soda machines are a tad flat, but not the worst I've ever had. there is no Diet Dr Pepper, even tho they have regular Dr Pepper. I'm very confused as to how they could pass up the deliciousness of diet Dr Pepper. The sushi is mediocre, I wouldn't call it sushi.. more of a bed of rice with sushi toppings on it. So be prepared for your favorite roll to be a sushi bowl. Still good tho. The hibachi is fairly priced for the quality. I would eat here again for the hibachi only since it's a good mix of protein / carb ratio. Over all; Do the drive through Pass on the sushi Get the hibachi Buy your diet Dr Pepper at 7-Eleven read more

Don't let the outside fool you! Came here after paddleboarding at white rock lake about 2 miles away. Not expecting much from the exterior and interior... But boy were we pleasantly surprised. The girl at the counter pointed us in the direction of the cowboy roll, the New York roll, and the caterpillar roll. (We didn't really care for the green sauce on the cowboy roll, we decided we'd nix it the next time we visit) everything tasted fresh and delicious. The workers were all smiles and it was pretty crowded for 2:30 in the afternoon. $25 for 3 really involved rolls is a steal. (At 7.99 a roll) Give it a shot! read more
