Really love this place I ordered the BB1 and switch the sushi rolls to fried rice. Not that I don't like sushi but I can not eat raw fish. The food was to perfection tasted all good. They added mushrooms, and I'm not a big fan. Next time I will tell them to leave it out. I like it when they take time to cook my food get a self satisfaction. My wife and I have eaten here every Monday for almost the last 4 years. I have never had a bad piece of fish or anything less than perfectly fresh. It's not super-fancy like Sushi Zushi or Sasa, but the prices are fantastic for what you get. I saw it had been open for about a year before I finally got the courage to order there (it looks like a renovated Taco Bell, which doesn't turn me onto the notion of well-prepared raw fish), and our lives haven't been the same since. My partner at work took me here today. He found worms in his broccoli after ordering the shrimp bento. I ordered the chicken bento. We both asked for a refund since the broccoli comes out of the same bin in their kitchen. They only refunded him and not me for the meal since it is "rare" that it happens. This proves that they are not washing their vegetables before putting them in the prepped bin. The broccoli for every dish was coming out of the same bin and refused to refund my purchase. This is so not a place to dine in. I remember reading the reviews to not dine-in, but my friend and i didn't have a place to eat, so we decided to eat there... So many awkward eye contacts with the people working there. There's no place for me to look at while eating. Plus the location is in a sketchy area, there were a couple of guys also dining there.. They kept glancing at me and my friend... I ordered the Steak Bento Box and the Garland Roll. The steak bites were nice and juicy. I would have like it more if there was rice to eat with it. The tempura vegetables and the dumplings were average. The California rolls had a weird grainy texture to it. I hope I'm not the only one who experienced that. The Garland Roll was alright. It was pretty skimpy, but I guess you'll get what you pay for at a location like this. The eel and avocado on top of the roll were normal. I was hoping to have some crabmeat along with the tempura shrimp inside the roll (before I ate the Cali rolls). Will I come back? Yes, only for takeouts. Cool, cheap little sushi spot in the neighborhood. I love to stop on my way home to grab a roll when I'm hungry. Prices are great and I'm on a mission to try each and every roll they have. Today was the Garland Roll. Good amount of eel, but could've had a bit more avocado. I also like that the rolls don't have a huge amount of rice. Just enough for a quick snack; not too filling. Oh and they have a drive thru which makes it super convenient after a long day and you want to grab a light dinner or pre dinner snack. In the past, I've had the steak bento and I really enjoy the volcano roll. Those little bites of scallop get me every time, although I have to make myself stay away from the spicy mayo. I've gone three times and I tend to have a good overall experience. Not spectacular but definitely getting what you pay for. I love the convenience of the drive-thru sushi and all though I was put off by the idea at first they do have good, fresh tasing sushi. The only things I don't like is how they box raw, cold sushi and warm, tempura rolls in the same container. The seating is poor by design. Do not go here with more than a party of 2. I'm currently sharing a seat with another man (well I think he is a man by overwhelming smell of Axe body spray). The soda machines are a tad flat, but not the worst I've ever had. there is no Diet Dr Pepper, even tho they have regular Dr Pepper. I'm very confused as to how they could pass up the deliciousness of diet Dr Pepper. The sushi is mediocre, I wouldn't call it sushi.. more of a bed of rice with sushi toppings on it. Get past these things and you'll be glad you put all of it behind you. The signs blast their most popular deal: Chicken Teriyaki Hibachi for ONLY $3.99. Most other times I would have been satisfied with this great offer, but last night a group of us decided to sample as much of their sushi menu as possible. We ordered 9 rolls between 4 people and our entire order was on our table in less than 10 minutes. For the best deals, you should definitely check out their sushi combos priced at $6.49. A spicy tuna roll AND a spicy salmon roll with 8 pieces each at this price point? That comes out to less than 50 cents a piece. How do these guys even make money?? Their specialty rolls max out at $6.99 which include many rolls that you would find at most other Japanese restaurants like a Caterpillar Roll, Rainbow Roll and Dragon Roll. The one exception is the Volcano Roll, which comes out to $7.99 and to be honest it's the one roll that I would have done without as it is Hea-vy with a Capital H. If you're a mayo lover than the Volcano Roll is made for you. My favorite 3 rolls were the Garland, Caterpillar and New York rolls. Highly recommended and I'm sure Tiffany D., Paul H. and Larry T. would concur. We barely finished the rolls and everyone was completely satisfied. 12 hours later and still no explosive diarrhea. Yay! If you go in with the expectation that you'll be dining in a Michelin restaurant you'll find yourself disappointed. Don't think that. You're in Northeast Dallas. First and foremost, this review is all about the food!! Ambiance is not always necessary when it comes to reviews. I mean, we don't have that many good places to eat in LH, especially not sushi (which we usually get from Kroger when we don't feel like going to a restaurant)! Well, if you haven't been, you MUST go now!! Not only do they stick to their word of "Fast, Fresh and Affordable", they are always consistent!! We have been there about a dozen times and everything we have ordered off the sushi menu has been just as good as if we had gone to Blue Fish or some other sushi restaurant. And nothing, including a rainbow roll is over $7!!!! Even the sashimi, 3 HUGE slices for only $4!! Two pieces of sushi for under $3!! I mean, come on, tasty and cheap! It's unheard of these days! We hope this place stays open for years to come. I know we will try our best to keep it in business with our once, sometimes twice a week visit! Just went today for lunch. Our fellow Yelpers are right on the money with this place. The one and only negative. It is a very small place. One door in and the same one out. A little cramped in that regard and a bit weird if you're trying to get out while there is a line of people. And yes, there was. The sushi here is just about as good as any in Dallas. I have eaten a lot of sushi too. And no, not California and Philly rolls. People who say they eat sushi and that are funny to me. All their rolls are under $7.00. Yes, $7.00. And we are talking the "fancy" ones you would spend $12-18 for anywhere else. They were fresh, large, well presented and extremely delicious. Oh, one other thing...Don't expect to be served. Don't let the outside fool you! Came here after paddleboarding at white rock lake about 2 miles away. Not expecting much from the exterior and interior... But boy were we pleasantly surprised. The girl at the counter pointed us in the direction of the cowboy roll, the New York roll, and the caterpillar roll. (We didn't really care for the green sauce on the cowboy roll, we decided we'd nix it the next time we visit) everything tasted fresh and delicious. I have seen the work going into the place for several months now, and given the very limited selection around here, knew I had to try it once it opened. I walked in but placed my order to go. Overall, it took less than 10 minutes. The staff were all very nice, and the inside is very clean. I got the vegetable udon noodles with volcano sauce on the side and the Rock Roll sushi. The noodles are pretty good! The volcano sauce was okay; I'm glad I got it on the side. The dish came with two other hot sauces as well, and I liked a different one better. The sushi roll was really good, too. I will definitely go back. Especially considering the price. This place has some solid fare for great prices. It's located within an old Taco Bell with a functioning drive thru, but don't let that dissuade you from venturing inside (though if you don't want to venture in, you could always use the drive thru). The hibachi specials here are humongous and are large enough for two separate meals. Their 4.99 hibachi chicken tasted like your standard Asian fare, but the price definitely is the kicker here. The scallop hibachi was also great and they were pretty generous with the scallops when I ordered that. The sashimi here is also solid. Every time I've ordered salmon here, the cuts have been large and fatty, which is a good thing. The tuna is also good, though it didn't really stand out as much as the quality of the salmon. The tempura shrimp appetizer was also tasty which each piece being approximately 4" long a piece. Overall, a good place to get a cheap Asian fix or if you're craving some good sashimi. The interior / exterior may not be all that, but the overall quality / price / late closing hours make it a solid recommendation in my book. read more
