Was really in the mood for Thai last night and immediately thought of Asian Mint. I entered an online Take Out order for my favorite, Shirataki Pad Thai. It's a delicious selection made with no carb Shirataki noodles, shrimp, chicken, house made tamarind sauce, egg, scallions, bean sprouts, and crushed peanuts. The waitstaff was very friendly when I got there for Pick Up. The vibe, as always, was lively and relaxed while I waited for my order. Fortunately for me, my order was ready earlier than predicted. I was hungry and really looking forward to digging in. My Shirataki Pad Thai was still warm when I got home, so I was not disappointed. I've been coming here since 2005!!! Asian Mint is an amazing staple to the 75 and Forest area. The ambiance is always amazing and their food and drink is always on point. Recently, I attended a private event in their Skye lounge. The staff welcomed us with a cocktail (lychee martini) and appetizers (calamari, sushi, and a veggie roll). This is one of my favorite places across DFW. Haven't been for a while as I don't live close by. This is their original location in a strip mall and parking is ample. As always, the vibe is clean, bright, fresh and casual. Service is nothing short of terrific. Every single person is friendly, attentive and responsive. Now the food - love the wide range of drink and food options on the menu. You can adjust the heat level a mild, medium, hot, Thai hot etc. we started with the papaya salad which was fresh, filled with peanuts and a delightful layered set of flavors and textures. We then had the special seasonal Siam Boat noodles (savory, delicious broth, generous portions - be sure to eat it right away as the noodles absorb that broth fast! It's served with fresh basil, chili crisp, pork rinds). We also had the glass noodles pad Mee kow woo San with shrimp - perfection. Very disappointed in the food! I am shock to see there is such a high rating place. In my opinion, it seems that Asian Mint caters to non Asians. The good quality is no where close to the Asian culture. We ordered the orange chicken. I was shocked at what the texture of the orange chicken looked like. It almost looks like I could have gone to Canes. I really wanted to leave and not have eaten there but I did as much as I could which was mainly the rice and broccoli. The soup was so disappointment. The broth tasted like water. It definitely lacked ingredients. The dumplings were decent. Service was attentive and ok! The server almost dropped the food in my hand when handing it over. He definitely spilled the soup on the dish as you can see in the photo. It's alright. We asked for chili oil for the dumpling and ended up with hot sauce. That's ok too. The Chicken Pad Kee Mow was flavorful and a very generous portion. It almost made me wish I had gone with my original choice of the Pad See Ew. Definitely next time! I ordered the Asian Noodle Salad and it was everything I wanted and more. The ingredients were fresh and crisp. The ratio of veggies to noodles was perfect. The dressing was sweet and tangy, and I'm actually already craving it again. I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for a salad. Also, it was a huge portion, so I wasn't able to finish it all. You've been warned! The Red Curry was the star for me. It was easily one of the best versions I've ever tried. My husband loved it, but complained that he wished they served it with more white rice. It was a pretty big bowl of curry, especially relative to others we've had. Finally, the Mongolian Beef. It was great! The flavor was on point and not overdone. Very cool concept; a "fresh food" take on Thai. The space is clean, airy and has a nice vibe. We were a little disappointed; the reviews all mention great sushi, but don't say that sushi isn't available at lunch. We came at lunch. Oh well, no sushi for us. The seared veggie dumplings were awesome. I didn't care if they had meat or not; they were very fresh tasting and delicious. The shrimp rangoons were a great take on the Chinese food classic; however, they were super hot (temp-wise) and a bit tongue burning. Once cooled, they were excellent. The Tom kha gai was a huge bowl of soup; but, again, served at a crazy high temperature. It took 5 mins before we could approach it. Once cool, all it needed was a little lime to make it perfect. The standard Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp was great. Big portion, fresh ingredients. The "crispy Pad Thai" replaced the rice noodles with fried wonton crisps. A very neat take on the dish; the portion was way too big to finish. They do not bring out the standard trio of Thai spices when you ask; they bring the chef/owner's proprietary sauce that was a take on standard thai chili sauce. I would have appreciated an option to amp up the spice with the traditional spice tray. Overall, a good lunch at a good price. Recommended for thai food. read more
