Sushi Time - Volcano roll, so fire. - Japanese Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Sushi Time at 1638 W Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75235 Took me some time but I finally get a chance to get in here and eat since my last experience trying to. I was the only customer at the time. The food feels freshly made and prepared. It definitely tastes delicious like it was especially made for each customer. This definitely reminds me of a mom and pop type cafe. I ate through the food pretty fast and do admit the quality was pretty good. Can't really judge the service because like I said I was the only person in there at the time and the lady was pretty attentive to me. I do feel like the prices are kind of expensive but for the type of quality and service you're getting, this is probably the exact amount one should be paying now. If you're looking for sushi inside the medical district area of Dallas or close to downtown. This is definitely the location you want to try out. Enjoy read more

Sushi is really good, and the prices are great, moved here from NY and have yet to find a local sushi spot like this one. Will definitely be going back read more

First time eating here. Was looking for sushi takeout for dinner with my parents. Ordered in person, food was ready in about 15 min! The staff very helpfully labeled all the containers with the names of the rolls so we didn't have to do any guessing when we got home. Tried the dynamite roll, candy cane roll, salmon bomb, NY crunch, and shaggy dog. All rolls were great but our favorite was the NY crunch. Will definitely be back! read more

The staff is always very kind any time I come in for lunch! The food comes out quick and tastes delicious! The shaggy dog roll was yummy and the teriyaki chicken was great too!! I will be back! read more

Sushi Time always has great service. Their sushi is really affordable. Rolls are a few dollars cheaper compared to other sushi restaurants. They are a little hole in the wall that my wife and I love to go to. The music they play inside is good too. Just know they aren't open late and are closed on Sundays. read more

Prices are amazing. Tower bowl rocked. Yummy miso too! Super sweet staff as well! Will come back! read more

Sushi Time - Ahi Tower Bowl - Japanese Near Me - Dallas, Texas

They're a pretty nice mom and pop sushi restaurant. Although the sushi is not the best quality, it's hard to beat the price especially when I'm craving sushi and need a quick fix. We were able to have a nice contactless pickup of our order once it was ready. Upon going home, we found that there was a mistake in our order. We called back and even though they were minutes to closing, they were happy to correct it! When we got back, they not only gave us the correct order free of charge, but they added an additional roll for creating an inconvenience for us. That totally showed me how much they care for their customers having a great experience. Would hands down order again for subduing my sushi cravings! read more

Sushi is usually pretty pricey but this place wasnt. I read the previous reviews and it made me inclined to try it since I was already in the area. It's tasty. I enjoyed my salmon roll and the rice ball. The New York roll I wasnt a big fan of, however, it wasn't nasty -- just not my cup of tea. This is a small place and you do have the option to dine in if you would like. I chose takeout and my food was ready in about 10 minutes or less. I gave this place 4 stars because the staff was friendly and fast getting my food out. I love a place that's reasonably priced. So if you are in the area it's definitely worth stopping by. read more

Sushi Time - Salmon Roll, New York Crunch Roll and 1 Piece Unagi Rice Ball - Japanese Near Me - Dallas, Texas

sushi time is the best place in dallas for sushi that is fresh and delicious and affordable. i love the salmon bomb and miso soup in particular. read more

The poke bowl was funky. It had this super sweet sauce with chili flakes in it. The salmon roll was a massive rip. It's 7 dollars for 6 small pieces and the rice isn't even sushi rice but instead just rice out of the rice cooker. I'm disappointed with the good reviews of this place on door dash. read more

The prices are low because I'm pretty sure imitation crab was in my ahi tower. That was not disclosed on the menu, hence my one-star review.

Absolutely love this hidden away jewel! The cashier is super sweet! Price is fair and it feels you up with honestly $15! Been here twice now! To fill myself up I either get 1 roll and miso soup, or a bow, roll, and miso soup! Somehow the miso soup is the diamond touch to ending your meal! Highly recommend! read more

Food is amazing. Hidden little gem maybe? I can't believe how many times I've drove past this place. Simple menu but with everything you would want. Just missing a bento box I had the fire dragon and dynamite roll. Both were great. Fried shrimp amazing. Edamame yum. Ordered the beef ramen to go. 5/5 stars definitely will visit once a week! read more

Says that they are opened till 9pm. As of 7:57pm, they are closed and there are no lights on. Drove 20 minutes here for no reason.

Pricing is like going back in time, sushi is fresh and made to perfection. Simple, good service and family run. The dining area is small, quaint and clean. read more

Got a couple rolls. The spicy one I'm pretty sure was ground up flamen hot Chito's which was not what I was expecting. Flavor and quality was all right. If you're looking for something quick and fast food like I guess this is a good stop. read more

Great sushi and Ramen!! Family owned business and great customer service. I have been coming here for years now!

This place changed ownership a few years back. This place used to be great! Since new ownership everything disappeared from the menu. They basically turned it into sushi similar to a grocery store. The original owners has so many different dishes. They offered 2 special rolls for $10 for lunch specials and many other dishes. So disappointed when I went after they sold. Everyone I introduced to place has stop going saying the same thing. They where doing business based off the original owners foods and that's not the case anymore. I don't recommend this place to anyone anymore. Don't make the mistake of going So sad to say but just being honest. See pictures of the old menu below. Let me tel you the food was Fantastic with the original owners. The new owner down want to do anything. Asked for my roll to made with rice to the outside and they didn't want to do it. Horrible! read more

This place is so cute! It seems like it's run by a couple, so it has that family-owned business vibe. It definitely isn't your fanciest sushi place, and thank goodness! Because that means cheap sushi. And the quality seems pretty good for the price. I've never had a place wish decently priced volcano rolls until here! It's one of my favorite rolls, so I'll definitely coming back here for more. It isn't the most delicious sushi, since it's not uchi, but I'm giving it a five star for the quality of the sushi at the price and the family vibe. I'd bring some friends here more than a date! read more

Update (08/23/2019: ownership/management): I will not return to this place after the rudeness of the sushiya. I've been coming to this establishment since they first changed ownership/management. I even have a "10 Visits and Get 1 Free" card with 8/10 spots filled in. I asked for a sriracha and and eel sauce. The the woman who has always worked there under present ownership handed me two small plastic containers with a small amount of sauce and I thanked her. As I was turning to go, the sushiya yells from behind the counter, "Next time you pay for those! Fifty cents each!" I replied, "Then I will not be back." To the Sushiya: I can understand and empathize with your desire to keep cost down; however, nickel-and-diming a loyal customer who you've never asked to pay for those items and yelling such sentiment across the restaurant as I'm leaving is rude and unacceptable. You've lost my business. Previous Review (01-20-2019: ownership/management): It's not as quaint as it was before the change in ownership/management, but I like their current offerings in both quality and price. The sushi chef is extremely friendly and accommodating, while crafting delicious fare. It's not the best sushi restaurant, but it is one of the best budget conscious ones. Old Review (02-28-2014: not current ownership/management): Good food for a good price. They may not have the best sushi, but they are not far from it. I recommend the Mockingbird Roll and anything from their Two for $10 sections. The eggroll appetizer is pretty good too. Their service is always friendly, but they do get bogged down from time to time. It's best to go around 11:30 or 12:45, to avoid the lunch rush. read more

The food is yummy. Great customer service and they always wear a mask. Only concern is the delivery time.

The food was inexpensive & good. I liked the location and it was a cute little setup. However, the service was terrible. I met with my family for my birthday lunch. The woman serving us stared at my family the entire time while we ate. I felt so uncomfortable. It's a shame because otherwise this would've been a good place to recommend! I don't know why she was so rude read more

Tried this place out today. Little unassuming place off mockingbird, next to New Fine Arts. Get in, get seated pretty quickly. This place is pretty small- according to fire code, its max capacity is 49. Not 50, but 49. We get our waters and order our food. So far, so good...Sit, talk, hang out for a bit...then a little bit more..then they come out apologizing that our food is taking so long...there were people that came in after us that got food. My guess- they forgot about us. Get our food, not too shabby. One of the rolls we got were really tiny. No bueno. The other roll looked significantly larger. Both tasted good, but it would have been nice if there was more. The menu says that one roll will have six pieces and one will have ten, but they don't tell you that six piece roll will be emaciated and sad looking. But, like I said, the flavors were good so that's a plus. Will give it another try to see how consistent their food and service is. read more

Not sure about the mediocre-to-negative reviews for Sushi Time... We've ordered them via DoorDash five times now and the food has been fresh, delicious and consistent. We order the Rainbow Roll, Volcano Roll and Sashimi. Always super yummy! read more

Affordable sushi, awesome quality and fantastic prices! Love that this place offers a little bit of everything from rice bowls, ramen and sushi. And, love even more that the sushi is simple, none of those fancy rolls they have several sauces combined all over. Warning- the tuna bomb was so spicy! It was more of a sriracha spice which I'm not really a fan of. A little out of the way but worth it when I'm craving some sushi that doesn't break the bank. read more

I got the 2 for $10 deal with a California roll and a salmon roll. Now, understand something right now: the only sushi I've had previously has been from my college dining hall. I'm no sushi connoisseur or anything, and being a bit tight on cash, I appreciate this place for when I want a sushi fix on the cheaper side of things. The California roll was what I always got at the dining hall, and it was comparable. I loved the flavor and everything about it. The salmon roll was something new for me. It didn't have much flavor so I ended up squirting some soy sauce on it, but it was definitely edible. There were some intriguing rolls on the menu, so I'm looking forward to coming back and trying them (although holding all the spicy stuff because white girl can't handle it). Overall, I'm not mad at it. read more

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Value: 4/5 ------ A co-worker recommended this place, and I must say, I was a bit skeptical when I walked in. However, I left very full and very happy, both in my stomach and my wallet. The nigiri here is $4 for two pieces, and the cuts are HUGE. They look relatively good quality too, for the price. The rolls are also pretty standard, but much cheaper than other restaurants, at about $7/$8 for a roll of ~8 pieces. You're not gonna get some restaurant grade fancy schmancy sushi here, but for the prices, this is definitely becoming a lunch staple for me. So happy to have discovered this place in the medical district. They also have lunch specials every day, which is usually a roll, some california roll pieces, and a salad or soup for $10. That's a lot of sushi. We went at 11:30 and it was pretty empty actually, but a fair number of people ordered takeout. And service is FAST. My biggest gripe about Oishii is (well besides the price, but that translates into better quality sushi) that it is SO SLOW, especially during the lunch rush. Sometimes, you just want a quick bite for lunch, and if you're craving sushi, Sushi Time is a must-try. read more
