I usually don't leave negative reviews unless I feel it's truly necessary. I'm a regular customer here and have recommended this place to my family and friends many times, which makes this experience even more disappointing. As a business owner myself, I understand how important it is to close on time. However, your posted hours say you're open until 10:00 PM. I arrived at 9:38 PM to place a to-go order, but the doors were already locked. What bothered me the most wasn't just the inconvenience of driving 25 minutes for my usual ramen and gyoza--it was that the kitchen staff laughed as if the situation was funny. That level of unprofessionalism was very disappointing. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be returning.
Been here several times, Ramen is tasty and meets my spice standards. Terrible experience today when our group came in and asked how we should order if we sit at the bar. Instead of getting a direct answer, the guy rudely responded that he won't make money if we do. Confused, I asked again for clarification and he gave us the same rude and confusing answer. Ruined the whole mood for our group. There really was no need for the attitude.
Small, tight interior. Very thin walking space, but cool wall decor. They let you know on their wall right away that they don't do refunds or remakes if you happen to get the wrong spice level-- which would be understandable if there was a server who you could ask how they would describe the spice levels before you made your decision, but there's not. Or not a friendly one at least. There is a corner bar on your right as soon as you walk in, and kiosk on your left. There's already limited seating, but they limit it further by putting on their kiosk "if you order here don't sit at the bar" If you go to sit at the bar to order, expect nothing but terrible service. I came in with a large but polite group. Despite the sign on the kiosk, we asked if we could sit at the bar after ordering at the kiosk because there wasnt enough seats for our entire group to sit at the tables available. He goes, "don't sit at my bar because i'm not gonna make money" ....? we repeated the question because we were confused and he just repeated the same thing, very rudely, as if we wronged him by being there at all. It let us know we are not guest, we are just a means to make money for this guy. Why work in a customer facing position if you're going to be that rude for no justifiable reason? An extremely poor representation of Oni Ramen. We ended up finding seating and two of us sat at the bar after ordering because there truly just wasn't room for all of us. This is not the place to go to if you are with a larger party. It's an open kitchen concept, we can see everything they are doing to the food, from prepping, finishing, serving, and bagging. The kitchen cooking staff wore gloves for the most part, but occasionally i witnessed them touching their face, scratching their nose, then dressing the food. Raw ramen noodles just sitting on top of counters as well. And to top it off, that exact same rude employee vaping openly around the food. You have to get your own water at a self service water station, seat yourself, order your own food on a kiosk, grab your own food at their drop off station and take it to your table. Afterwards, take your tray and drop it off at the bar with their oh-so-kind employee. And the kiosk ask if you want to leave a tip. Insane. The food was mediocre. The ramen does not have much depth the way other places do, but they compensate for that by adding spice they way other restaurants lack. Food mediocrity can be excused if service was decent. But it wasn't even subpar. We came here because a few of us have visited here a few times before, but this was by far their worst experience here. For the few of us where it was our first time, we would not return. Nor would we recommend it to anyone who actually wants to have a good, enjoyable meal. A picture below of the employee so that if you happen to go, you can save yourself from interacting with him! So that maybe you can still enjoy your meal without feeling like you just offended someone who is choosing to work there! (I would have asked for his name, but he was so rude to not only us that I did not feel comfortable to do so.)
Ramen was delicious, broth was well seasoned. Maybe too much cheese but I didn't mind it. Dumplings were very good as well! Service was quick especially with the self order machine, and ambiance was very calm and soothing. There's outside seating with space in between tables.
order too salty to me. and they didn't even cut soft eggs in half. pricing is gouchy plus not based on the quality. The soup was mixed like a charcoal and ingredients. i dont like the smell of it and looks unhealthy. also noodles not special, just like general one and not even the one japanese do for ramen. what a laugh
As our first time here, we ordered at the kiosk. As stated by other commenters if you order at the kiosk be prepared to be ignored by staff. We ordered, Gyozas, the Light Assari and the Oni Reaper ramen. The Gyozas were cold. The Light Assari had no flavor and tasted watered down. Oni Reaper was not any better the meat tasted spoiled, and was being masked by the chili oil. When brought to the attention of the girl at the cash register. She said there wasn't anything she could do about it since we ordered at the kiosk and we would have to pay for another bowl. Unacceptably behavior. Especially when the problem is with the kitchen not something the customer can control. We were denied a refund given that these terms were not disclosed at the beginning before the transaction. There are plenty of restaurants who value customers this is not one of them. I would advise to take your business somewhere else. It's not a surprised that this establishment will be shut down soon.
I enjoyed this place! The food was really good and the portions were HUGE! The staff weren't too talkative- but ensured our drinks were filled and we had everything we needed! The restaurant itself was clean, but the restroom wasn't as clean. Overall a very enjoyable experience!
ONI IS LEGIT!!! This place is a tiny powerhouse of amazing flavor and service. Total hole in the wall vibes; kinda grungy, kinda cramped - but as usual, worth it. Order on the iPad by the door, or sit at the bar - but be warned, the iPad lies to you and tells you things on the menu are unavailable. The bartender quickly corrected this issue for me when I attempted to order a Shiner and the iPad told me there were none - but the glass display case behind him was full of them! He traded the ordered beverage for the needed Shiner. Now the ramen is nothing to be trifled with! You are greeted with a huge painted devil and a warning upon entering that if you order spice and k¡ll yourself, tough cookies, no refunds. I went medium since I wasn't sure what I was getting into, and didn't regret my choice one bit. I had the Reaper, medium spice, soft cooked egg. The noodles were tender and delicious, the broth was a flavor level and complexity that made me happy dance. Not to mention the star of the show, the tender and delicious pork belly. My eyeballs and forehead were shining, but it was amazing. I'm no average gringa, I was raised in Texas, and this spice was perfect! There is nothing more annoying than ordering something with a warning and being disappointed. This place is a total win. And the big glass window in front was perfect for people watching.
Great little place to have Ramen!! Wonderful and creative Ramen!! The owner was a great! And all the food was wonderfully seasoned and put together! Enjoyed everything about Oni Ramen!! 5
The type of ramen joints that is worth to mention and visit. I appreciate the different types of ramen they have instead of the regular "miso" "shoyu" blah blah blah. Give me something new. Which they did. Heres the breakdown and you must order: -Texas Mazeman: for someone who wants noodles but in a soup form. So much flavor and perfect chewiness. -Tokyo black: for someone who's a daredevil. This one is a good one to try. Another flavorful ramen -Oni reaper: good flavor. The most basic out of the three i mentioned, but still good. Ambiance: place is quite small but has 3 tables in the back and along the wall. Will i be back? Yes, if im around DTX again.
Deep Ellum is eclectic but holds a lot of gems. This is an incredible one. I have no complaints, no notes. I like eating places that are not complicated. The price point isn't ridiculous and you can eat here any season. The staff is doing what they need to and I really only like eating outside? I don't know if that information is useful here given that the star of the show is just the food.

Oni Ramen, you have my heart. When I first went to Oni Ramen (specifically the deep ellum location) I knew that it would quickly become one of my favourite Ramen Spots in the DFW. From the noodles, the broth, down to the toppings, everything just tastes so dang good! Let's not forget the presentation too! I love that you can just walk in and place your order by yourself at the self help screens and then you walk over to the counter to pickup when ready. Every time I've been there I have never had to wait in a single line (which is weird because it's so good lol) They have a small indoor seating area but also have more seating outside. The environment is pretty chill too. You can wear whatever and won't feel out of place. Dang, after writing this review, I need some more Oni Ramen lol read more
Oni Ramen is hands-down one of my favorite spots in Dallas -- i mentioned it before but to this day it still beats some of my ramen favorites back in LA! It's a must, every time I'm in town, and I always make sure to bring friends so they can experience it too. The ramen here is incredibly flavorful without being too heavy -- rich, balanced, and deeply satisfying. My personal favorite is the Oni Ramen -- the spice level is just right, enhancing the broth's depth instead of overpowering it. Pro tip: get the spice on the side so you can adjust it to your liking. Every flavor I've tried has been great, and if you're feeling fancy, you can customize your bowl with extra toppings for a little more. Between the delicious ramen, friendly service, and consistent quality, Oni Ramen is a total gem and an easy 5 stars from me! read more

I've had this one bookmarked for a while and finally got a chance to go. It is a pretty small place but it definitely says ramen restaurant when you walk in. They are heavily focused on it and have an opening where you can clearly see the chefs working. There system only allowed for credit cards to be used up to $30 or you'd have to go to the bar and check out with them. I think this is a one off and system issue. The tonkatsu ramen i had was delicious. The broth was very rich and you can tell they take extra care when making it. I had the mild spice, not hot at all but added a nice additional flavor. There isn't much seating inside due to its small spot but they do a lot of to go orders as well. Definitely glad i checked this spot out. read more

Ordered the rich tonkotsku with spice on the side, very delicious. Went on a weekday so it was fairly quiet. Everyone was very nice, there were a couple flies by the window but the food made up for that. read more

Had dinner here with my family since my son had heard so many good things. The parking really sucks, there is very little street parking, but several lots and each cost oner twenty bucks. The restaurant had a very friendly staff and they were eager to help with inputting your orders. I ordered the Texas Mazeman, and aside from having a very big chunk of ramen, partly uncooked and inedible, it was a really good bowl with lots of flavor and a really good broth. My wife also enjoyed her vegetarian bowl. If ever in the area again we will make another visit. read more

Went to Dallas for a birthday celebration and arrived almost an hour early. So my eldest and I decided to grab a bite to eat and chose ramen. Came across Oni near downtown and we clearly caught it during the bustling night scene. Bars and clubs had music playing. The streets were inundated with party goers during their own pub crawl. Nestled in between two of these hot spots was the small ramen shop. Union entry you can't help but notice its limited space. Along the left wall is a shelf that extends the length of the wall with four kiosks for ordering and bar stools for sitting. In the far back were probably six tables that could possibly hold four guests, snug but, comfortably. To the right was the main bar and I grew window bar stool tables if you wanted to people watch while enjoying your meal. The place had a divey charm to it honestly. On to the meal. For appetizers we started with the sweet chili wings. My son had the reaper ramen and I had the signature miso pork belly ramen. The wings were fried excellently; the sweet chili sauce had an unusual aftertaste that I didn't care for but didn't detract from the wings themselves. The reaper ramen was well prepared. Spicy and filling. The pork belly was even better! Hearty and savory. I chose a mild spice to better enjoy all the flavors but they do have spicier options. The played current and classic hip hop hits. The noise blended seamlessly with the atmosphere outside. The restroom however!?!..... hard pass. If you're ever in Dallas and like ramen give them a try. Wait time wasn't long and meals come out quick read more
Don't judge but their ramen is so good that I ended up getting two bowls. The tempura shrimp was definitely the highlight of my meal. It was lightly battered and tasted like it was made fresh in house since the tempura was still so crispy. The broth is packed with flavor and the service is so fast. I ordered at the kiosk with all my additions and substitutions; and before I knew it, they were calling my number. read more
Expensive is what you need to know first After that, we had tasty miso with chicken, shrimp and beef Pork belly too (it was not hot and I was disappointed.) Dingy restaurant but it's Deep Ellum ambiance. People were nice and friendly Pyper's first experience with traditional ramen-she was ok with it Medium spice was hotter at the bottom of the bowl than the start. Medium is still spicy let me tell you. Ample portions so makes money you spend seem worth it But I'd come back read more
I will begin by saying this place serves fresh, tasty food and it comes out fast. But if you're looking for value-priced food, friendly, personable service and comfort while dining, this is not the place. A group of us from the office arrived to this trendy spot in downtown on a Wednesday afternoon about 11:45am. There were six of us & we were expecting a sit-down lunch, only to find this place a tiny, narrow place with a very few tables in the back & a crowded counter in front to retrieve your order. Directly across from the counter are about 3 kiosks to place your order. I don't mind admitting I'm a bit of a food snob, but I will always give a place a try. I might have given more stars if: 1) Someone would have acknowledged us when we entered - there were tons of staff in there & they were moving at a steady pace - not rushing. 2) Someone would have walked around from the counter or at least shouted - place your order on the kiosk! Sure, they're right there in your face, but someone like me is not used to being forced to place my order this way, so I didn't even notice them. 3) Would have been great if someone would have - dare I say - come out from behind the counter other than to place to-go orders on the rack. Tell us where our food will come out & where we go next. Actually tell us when we enter whether there is seating. After the big disappointment in ordering, we decided to take it to go and drove back to the office. I snapped a couple of photos of my food but due to the fact that a few people walked in right after us, we felt rushed to get out of there (is that the owner's preference, that no one dine there?), so I didn't take any photos of the place. I don't eat ramen (shocker, lol), so I ordered chicken thigh on steamed buns. Ingredients on their website menu: steamed bun filled with your choice of protein, greens, pickled vegetables & hoisin. On the kiosk, I thought I saw red onions & tried to remove it, but there was no option to get it the way I wanted. And the website informs you that you'll receive (2) but I didn't see that on the kiosk. All that time waiting I thought I paid $8 for one, ha. I have to admit it was delicious, so 5 stars for that. The meat was fresh and not greasy, the buns were light and great. I loved it. My co-worker ordered - Signature miso $14.50 Website menu listed ingredients: creamy pork broth seasoned with sweet & nutty soybean paste, topped with pork belly, bamboo shoots, corn kernels, bean sprouts & green onion. She didn't want the bamboo shoots but there was no option to remove them. She's ordered from this place before, so she knew what she was getting and loved it. I love downtown and the little hole-in-the-wall places but I wish the person who selected this place would have done a little more research - it's definitely not a place to sit down & enjoy your lunch with 5 other people, but rather a place to order delivery from. Which is fine, since the food is good! read more

The food was good. Not the best ramen I've had but it was decent. The workers were pretty rude. No acknowledgement at all and when we asked how to order they looked so annoyed that we even asked. Everything is ordered by tablet if that's something you're into but I wish that the staff didn't act like customers were an inconvenience you know? The place is small but the decorations and stuff are cute. The bowl I was served had a giant chip in the side though and that kind of threw me off too. read more

I would give zero stars if I could solely bc of the customer service. As you can see, the ramen looks great however extremely unprofessional, rude, & the staff have a huge attitude problem. My friend ordered ramen & she put on the kiosk that she didn't want spice however, the broth ended up having spice in it. I have a high tolerance for spice & even tried it myself to see if she was overreacting but I could taste the spice in the bowl. You can also see the spice in the picture as well. I honestly felt like I was being gaslit when we told the staff member because we were told there was no spice in the ramen.. People make mistakes all the time.. it's okay to admit when you're wrong & it IS possible that the kitchen staff messed up & actually added spice or maybe the server switched the bowl on accident. I honestly wanted them to try it themselves but even if they did, I'm sure they'd still deny it just so that they wouldn't be in the wrong. We were still denied a remake or even a refund. Looking back, it's actually comical this happened because I've never experienced this anywhere else before. So much potential but wasted due to the customer service and lack of knowledge on how to interact with customers & deescalate situations. I believe there is a lot of work to be done here & I am not the only one that experienced rude customer service considering the other reviews that were left. read more

Do you take reservations?
No. it's first come first serve . y'all have to wait until there's available table .
How long is the wait?
Sometimes you wait to use a tablet to order, but they have multiple so maybe 5minutes at most?? It takes longer to place your order than for the food to come out. Not sure if this answers your question. Good Luck Friend 👍🏽
What do they do to make the some of the dishes vegan?
They do make their Vegetarian Ramen vegan or gluten-free as well. It's a cabbage-soy broth. :)
