Took my car in for what I knew was a cracked windshield washer reservoir. Received a call that they couldn't find anything that was leaking. The next morning in the garage there was more of the fluid on the floor. Took the car back to Firestone. Received a call that the problem was the thermostat. I was told that the fluid I saw on my garage floor was coolant. I said what was the cost and was told $548 to replace the thermostat. I said OK, replace it. The next morning after bringing the car home, I saw the same fluid on the floor of the garage again. Took it back to Firestone again and this time they told me there was indeed a crack in the windshield washer reservoir. I asked why I had been told it was a thermostat when I had told them it was a cracked reservoir. They were unable to address that concern directly. I also asked for the part which they told me was cracked. They told me they had already thrown out the cracked thermostat, so I wasn't able to get it. I recently had to replace the thermostat again just less than two years later. I would never take a car back to Firestone no matter what. Not even for a tire. The dealer replaced it for 350.00 and that included parts and labor. I'd had people advise me against going to Firestone, I get it now. read more

I got tires here and when one of them started leaking regularly, they checked it and said there was nothing wrong with it. When it continued I went back and asked for it to be replaced. Travis told me they had replaced it last time and I knew that wasn't true. He was rude about my upset on this constantly leaking tire. He told me I'd have to pay if I wanted it replaced. It wasn't until Josh stepped in, double checked and noted they had replaced a different tire that they granted me the replacement tire. I'll probably stop going here. I got my tires here and one didn't perform well, why wouldn't they just replace it? Instead I had to fight for what I knew was true and got lucky with a more attentive employee who cared to give good customer service. As someone who works in customer service, I felt my interaction with the Travis was poor service and unnecessary upset. There's plenty more places to get better service in a big city. read more

It's Murphy's Law that it would be a Sunday morning that the tire pressure warning light would come on in my car! I first tried to go to a gas station to check it myself, but the air pump was out of order. That led me to the Firestone on Colorado. I pulled up, explained my situation to Celso, who kindly first checked the proper PSI for my tires in the driver's side door, then checked my tires, and found a nail in one of them. He instructed me to check in the office to see if they could fit me in today. Adam was so accommodating! Told me I could have the work done in an hour and it was done in 45 minutes, and they called me to tell me it was done and I could pick up my car. My wife woke this morning to a flat tire. I gave her my car and I got hers fixed. I originally went to another place, but it was at least an hour until they could even start on the car. I then decided to go to Firestone. I have been to other locations before and they are reputable, so it was a logical choice. I don't know why I didn't just go there in the first place. They did a fine job of oil change on my 2015 Corolla with cheaper price compared to dealer. However, I have to remind anyone who wants to do oil change by yourself, you might want to think twice before taking your car to firestone. They overtightened the oil filter cap of my Corolla so much, that you basically won't be able to remove the cap with any tool less than 120 lb/ft torque. Usually, you won't need anything more than 30 lb/ft to remove it. They even put those nasty yellow sealing on your cap without letting you know. This might be designed to ensure that you will HAVE TO take your car back to firestone because you will most likely not able to remove the oil filter cap by yourself. I learned the lesson in the hard way. I broke my pricy wrench and still failed to remove the cap. I had to take my car to a nearby shop asking for professional help. Of course, I ended up paying much more than I need to. Again guys, if you plan to keep going back firestone for maintenance, that's fine. But if you have any plan to do it by yourself, you might want to avoid this place. read more

It was a dark and stormy Sunday afternoon. I had just come from brunch with a friend and had pulled over to take a phone call because it's the responsible thing to do. No good deed goes unpunished, they say, and that was certainly the case here. As I tried to start my car to resume my trip, I heard that horrible sound of the engine turning over but not starting. Time after time I tried with no luck. I finally gave up and called AAA, looking for the nearest Firestone on Yelp. I was in luck and had my car towed to the Pasadena Firestone. I considered myself very lucky to find any mechanic open on a Sunday. I was even luckier to find this Firestone well-stocked with the parts that my car needed and able to complete the repairs rapidly. I've been buying tires at this shop for 20 years. No more after my latest experience. Took in my car for a bent control arm. They charged 4x the retail price for the part, doubled the estimated labor cost, and left the car handling very poorly. Took it to another shop (Arcadia Firestone location, recommended) where they diagnosed that the Pasadena location had over inflated the tires, the car pulled hard right, did not rotate tires, had not tightened new toe arm, and all that having told my wife that it drove just fine after a second visit to test drive. Unprofessional, dangerous, and unresponsive. I've been trying for six weeks to get a call back from Customer Service. Unbelievably bad service. If you need service in the area, go to Arcadia. The last time I came to Firestone for an oil change they forgot to put the oil gasket back and my car started leaking oil. I didn't realize this until I took it to an auto shop for an oil leak inspection and they told me there was no oil gasket. Only reason for two stars (and not one) is that I've come to Firestone in the past with reasonable service most of the time. I won't be coming back to this Pasadena Firestone though after this simple mistake. Edit on 5/7/18** Firestone replied to my review by saying to email them with full details on my experience (maybe so they could compensate for their bad service somehow?). Anyhow, I emailed them just as they said to (about two months ago), and they didn't even respond. I'm now dropping my rating from 2-stars to 1-star for Firestone further wasting my time. read more

There was a leak somewhere. The Service Advisor was Jose and gave her an estimate. The estimate descrbed that the "vehicle was not leaking power steering fluid...leaking coolant thru heater valve" the cost $250.37 and also to replace the cooling system for $99.99 which totaled to $367.10. I took the same vehicle to my mechanic and the real problem was a worn out hose leaking power steering fluid and the cost...$99.00 for labor and materials. Firestone was totally trying to rip-off my mother-in-law for $267!!! Shame on you FIRESTONE!!! DON'T WALK BUT RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! read more

Got an oil change two weeks ago. Had to take my car back in between I found a fresh pool of oil underneath my car and there was an access panel that was hanging several inches loose as well. Glad I saw that before going over a speed bump. Took my car back in and generally treated like I was an annoyance to them. Not once did anyone apologize to me for the inconvenience. Acting like that it was normal to get some leakage after an oil change and it was no big deal. As far as the loose panel, I was told that some clip fell off. Again, no apologies. Well, I've had the car for almost six years now and after countless oil changes, I've never had to take my car back in afterward. If they had at least said, "sorry for the inconvience" I wouldn't be too upset but, to be treated like an annoyance, that is bogus. They didn't even call me to tell my car is ready. I had to contact them. Lame. Won't be taking my car here anymore for oil changes for sure and there are plenty of other places to get tires in Pasadena on both Colorado and Walnut.... Yesterday was a nightmare. The first time I came here was because they were the only place stocking 20/50 oil, which my Chevelle SS demands. This time they had to grab it from Pep Boys across the street. Thank to some pretty but clueless and disinterested young woman working the counter, my experience was a major headache, and not just for me but for the guy who had to fix all her mistakes. First off, I had an appointment, but no one got started on my car for a while after I showed up. I think it was cause she was on the phone with another irate customer who didn't seem to like any of the answers she was giving him. When I simply asked if any of the guys sitting around were planning to get to work, she told them I was in a rush (I never said that), and told them not to do any of the free maintenance checks on fluids and such. This after I has walked in and confirmed they WERE going to do all that stuff. This meant, when the car came back out, only the oil had been changed, though I paid for full service. All thanks to this girl, who seems to do nothing but try to not answer phones and avoid the front desk by hiding in the garage area yakking away with the workers. She should be fired! After I insisted everything be checked, one helpful dude for some reason didn't want to drive the car back into a bay, and instead kept checking each item or fluid and then having to run back to the garage back and forth in the heat. He did everything, except he spilled the radiator fluid while pouring it, so as I drove home, and it burned off my hot engine, I left a trail of smoke like my engine was on fire. The whole ordeal felt like a total clusterfuck. And all because Miss Clueless told the employee changing my oil that I was in a hurry, WHEN I NEVER SAID ANYTHING OF THE KIND! One more great moment from her. I have a 1971 totally restored. I have original windshield wipers. A few years ago, most auto stores stopped selling just the rubber blade replacements and you have to buy the clip on plastic entire blade set up. That means I have to buy those, take out the rubber, and put them into my wipers. Figuring they probably work on car all the time, I simply asked if they could replace the wipers if I bought some of theirs. The girl says she wouldn't know what to charge, and that the rubber cannot be removed. I informed her they can and to ask whoever is the boss. She refused saying, "I'm not gonna ask my boys if they can do that, because we don't do that." Money lost on wiper purchase and labor. Boys? She was like 26. Her boys? I don't think she fucking owns or manages the place. Not according to the names on the paperwork, unless her name is Jimmy. I think her name was Aja or Ava. Oh well. I went in to have a small nail removed from my tire. They patched the tire without delay and I drove home. My tire pressure monitor system kept going off so I took it back in for inspection. They damaged the sensor in the tire and refused to fix it after they admitted that it was likely their guy who broke it. They had no excuse but to claim that it wasn't their responsibility to fix it. They wanted to charge me $100 to fix something they broke so I left. read more

Night. Mare. Took our new-to us car in at 8 am for new tires. Told noon would be no problem to get it back, so I could get it smogged during lunch. 4 hours should be PLENTY of time for a not-busy shop to put tires on. They called at 10-ish to tell me I needed a new air filter, wipers and a battery. I declined -- I can do that stuff myself. Went back at 12:30. Only car in the bay, and not done. Came back after lunch at 1:30. STILL the only car in the bay, and STILL not done. Missed my window of opportunity to smog the car, and was PISSED. Went back to work after explaining just how pissed I was. Got a call at nearly 3 pm saying the car was done. 7 hours after I had dropped it off. W...T...F. Manager, finally sensing how ticked I was, offered to smog the car for me. That was the one thing they did right, and they had to outsource it. HERE'S THE RUB: Got the batter tested at AutoZone on the way home. It tested 100% fine. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

I would suggest only using Firestone for your basic service needs, as in oil changes, wheel alignments, tire rotation, coolant service etc. Leave your mechanical need to your local auto mechanic. Firestone only employs mostly young mechanics with basic skills and little experience resulting in poor problem solving skills. They seem to have the hardest time with older vehicles, as they are beyond the general experience level of most of their employees. I still use Firestone, I buy their tires use their maintenance services, which is adequate.. read more

See, I'm having some roofing done at my house and the roofer didn't exactly get every nail out of my driveway. I picked up a nail and both Firestone and my personal mechanic sadly informed me that the tire could not be repaired because of the location of the nail in my tire. My advice to you: never, (I mean NEVER) book an appointment here at the end of the day. During the course of the day, things happen beyond their control and it puts them behind. Subsequently, you get there ON TIME for your appointment and still have to wait. I was only slightly annoyed...but only because they did not inform me when I arrived that they were a bit behind schedule. So, I took a walk in the neighborhood, stopped in at Rite-Aid, strolled further down the street and chatted with a mattress shop guy and came back in about 35-40 minutes expecting to pay and be on my way. I thought "cool...they put the car back EXACTLY where I left it. These guys are good!" I went in to pay and Vic (who, by the way is very charming and sweet) informs me that they are running behind and could get to me in about 20 minutes. Of course, that's when I kinda raised a stink and questioned him about the relevance of having an appointment. Needless to say, they lit a fire under their tails and got my car on the rack. I was replacing a tire that I had purchased there about 10 months earlier. (I purchased a full set back then.) Now, Vic didn't offer any discounts...but since the tire was under a year old, I asked if maybe I could get a discount on the new tire. He graciously gave me $25 off my purchase (the squeaky wheel gets oiled, people). All-in-all, I don't find this place spectacular - but they'll certainly do. read more

Yes!! This is the Firestone I know and love! Matt and Vic are awesome and took good care of me and my car! Came here after my disastrous experience at the Alhambra Firestone, and was much happier here! Came in at my appointment time and they got me in right away. Needed an oil change, as well as getting the squeal fixed the other store couldn't take care of. Within less then an hour they called me back and let me know what was wrong and what I could do to fix it. Once I agreed to the repairs they had them completely finished in just over two hours! Oil change, diagnostics, repairs, everything=Less then four hours! Also no hard-selling here! They didn't try and talk me into getting a bunch of stuff I didn't need, and when I told them what I did and did not want they went with it. Very happy with these guys! read more

We've been coming to Firestone because we got a lifetime warranty for our old car and we had some coupons. Not the cheapest place, but they do good work here. That being said the last visit left us with a little bit of a bitter taste in our mouth. We still have left over coupons but we were told they had expired (not stated anywhere on the coupons themselves), but whatever. They still do good work (at least no issues so far). The other issue is that they said they found nails in our right front and left front tires. Supposedly they were in a space that could not be fixed. I had a warranty with Big O Tires so I took my car there to get new tires. They "fixed" the tires. Now clearly this is a case of Firestone said Big O said, but clearly someone isn't telling the whole truth. Since that time though I have been harassed on the phone and via yelp by Big O Tire, so I am going to say Firestone was right, and Big O ripped me off. While this place hasn't taken us for a big ride yet I would be skeptical of any major services they recommend simply because I am skeptical of most mechanics. I would always seek a second opinion (or in the case of Big O, a third). I'll keep coming back here though for the minor odds and ends. read more

The only reason that I've been going was because I had received a coupon. They told us that our car would be ready in an hour to and hour and a half... ummmm no. It actually ended up taking them 3 hours. NIGHTMARE of a place to go. The workers don't care about what you do or do not say. They don't care if you have to wait longer than expected or if they do a bad job. All the care about is getting paid. I didn't even go on a busy day... there were plenty of people not working. I understand that sometimes things can take longer than expected. But do I at least get an apology for their lazy and sluggish ways?
