We've been coming to Island Tire for decades and the service is always so wonderful. They're the only tire people I trust with either of our cars at this point. That's why when I had a leak a couple weeks ago I tried there first, expecting that they wouldn't have time for such a minor thing, but I figured I should at least ask. They took the car with no complaints, even though the place was an absolute madhouse of customer cars everywhere, fixed the tire, confirmed that my tires otherwise looked good and could take a few more miles, and sent me on my way for $37. I can't think of any car business anywhere that will even touch your car for $37, and they didn't try to upsell, they just made a very kind repair and sent me on my way. Well, this review is long overdue... as Nick and the team at Island Tires has helped me numerous times over the last few years since I found this gem! The service done here for us has always been superior, with how quick they get back to me with timely updates as well as my vehicle. All the services performed have been done exceedingly well, never just the bare minimum of work that's asked to be done. I have been shown kind generosity by them even patching tires I got from them for no extra charge. They also give such an honest diagnostic review of the vehicle, at times the dealer has made me feel they just want money out of me to work on the car more, but here they let you know what needs to be done, as well as what can wait. We were visiting the area when we ran over a screw and got a flat tire. It was on a Sunday afternoon and we live 25 miles away. I was very stressed that we wouldn't be able to find a tire shop that can help us. When I came across this business on google I gave them a call and the gentleman told us to bring our car in even though it was close to their closing time. When we got there, they got to work right away to patching the tire. They told us our tires are very thin and worn (by showing it to us) so they might not be able to save the tire but they will try their best to get us back on the road. We waited about 30 minutes and they were able to apply the patch. The gentleman at the counter then gave us a very reasonable quote on the price of replacing all 4 tires, and only charged us for the patch. There was no upselling, no BS, just honest business and clear communication. We are so impressed with the service we will probably make the drive all the way out here to replace our tires. read more

Spoke to Jose on the phone about ordering a tire. We agreed to have the service done next morning at 9am and that he would have the tire ready. I arrived and he lied and said the customer said he would call him back, speaking to me in a third person as if I was not the customer, which was not what happened. The employees were also complaining and argumentative with each other, too lazy and upset to check on an elderly lady's car for a question she had after she got her Corvette serviced. Stay away. Spend an extra $10 and go to pep boys instead, you really cant trust these mom and pop shops. read more

José, whom I assume is the manager, is always informative, helpful and will work with you to find the best solution inclusive of your budget considerations. They're honest, reasonably priced, do good work and stand by their repairs. Recently however, I was irked and disappointed to find a neatly arranged stack of fringe political 'news' publications on the coffee table in the waiting area. I support the business owner's freedom of speech and expression, but as the country has become so polarized and divided, it's disheartening to see a reminder at my local auto repair shop. I suggest going back to having travel or car magazines for your customers, keep politics out of the shop, and maintain a respected business a neutral space. read more

Great place! Brought my own tires. Was charged 333$ for putting on the new tires and an alignment. Thought the price was decent and could've gotten done for cheaper BUT. Man they replaced all four of my TPSM's (Tire Pressure Sensor Monitor)! For my car that's about 40$ each sensor online! Was blown away with that service added to my alignment! No places be doing that! You usually gotta bring them the sensors yourself. Highly recommend. Definitely coming back for other services. read more

This place saved my holidays. I was out running errands the day before family arrived in town and heard a hiss from one of my tires. Called several nearby places and no one had time to check a tire. These guys were able to see me right away and find out that it was a metal shard in the sidewall that couldn't be repaired. Although they didn't have the exact replacement tire I needed, they threw on a used tire so I could get on with my holiday prep and said they would order what I needed and have it available for whenever I was ready. I'm so thankful for their superb customer service and kindness, knowing that if they treat (at that point, potential) customers the right way, people will come back. Because of how they stepped up for me, I was going to come back regardless of the price, but out of curiosity, I checked the prices at Costco and tire rack and Island was actually cheaper. Did I also mention that the waiting area here is amazing, with lots of retro car decor? It really should be a bar or speakeasy at night or on the weekends. Island Tire & Service had great communication throughout my tire repair and oil change, including accurate wait time estimates, fair and trustworthy pricing, and honest assessments of my concerns. They even down sold me on new tires because mine still have some life left! They have ample indoor and outdoor waiting space aligned with their "island" theme, and friendly employees who stopped to pet my dog from a safe distance. Came here on a last minute request to patch up my flat tire. Apparently I drove over a nail! Steve helped me out and the patch ended up being less expensive than quoted. The waiting area is really comfortable. There's free wifi, coffee, and water. The espresso machine was actually really good and made the experience much more pleasant than you'd expect dealing with an inconvenience such as a flat tire! I'm impressed with the friendliness, professionalism, cleanliness, and speed of the service--especially because I was a walk in. These guys are awesome. I've been bringing my car here for years and I will continue to as long as I live anywhere within a somewhat reasonable radius. By reasonable I mean, I live in Thousand Oaks almost 60 miles away- and I still bring my car down here. Yes, I know this shop is in Pasadena and no, I'm not crazy. Not only do they do a GREAT JOB- but Nick and Jose are the most honest guys in the business and will always make sure to take care of you honestly and efficiently. They offer reasonable prices and they won't try to sell you unnecessary services ladies! For the ladies- TRUST, as a woman in Los Angeles who has paid over $800.00 in UNNECESSARY car repairs, I have been completely gun shy about finding any car place to take my car to, but I tell you what- I was sent to these guys by a BUSINESS- not even a friend- and they treat me like I was a referral from a close friend. I've been in a few times and they have told me I didn't even need anything done. THAT HONEST! I was hoping that I wouldn't have to leave this review but I don't know what happened to these guys. This will be the last time I ever set foot there, and I hope others with a poor experience follow suit. My first few experiences with them were awesome (hence the reason why I went back) but when I went to get my vehicle aligned, they completely dropped the ball and left it worse than before. The sad thing is, they lied to my face and said that there was possibly something wrong with my suspension components and that they weren't able to get it aligned to the factory specs. After letting me leave with a vehicle that drove like crap, I was forced to get a second opinion and a second alignment elsewhere. Magically, they were able to get it aligned to factory specs and drove better than when I first bought the vehicle! (Shout out to Andy's Alignment in Glendale.) I hope the $85 bucks you stole from me was worth it for this great review and a warning to other future customers. Question: Now why would you cross out the before values and why would I go back for a warranty on the alignment when you didn't do the job correctly the first time. How does the front right caster go from 3.8 degrees to 6.2 degrees when it is supposedly "aligned"? SMFH. read more

This is my favorite mechanic shop in town! I came here several times with my 2002 Ford Ranger pick up truck and was always pleased with there service and professionalism. A friend of mine recommended Island Tire&Service in Pasadena several years ago,so I actually drove all the way from Orange County to see these guys. I had issues with my clutch and my car was leaking coolant. After speaking to Andrew and getting a check up on my truck I was informed that my clutch was worn down so far it was the cause of my Ranger to have the lack of power and was also the reason it was so difficult to put into gears. After replacing the clutch with a new unit Andrew had the mechanic repair a leaking coolant hose at no charge! Now my truck runs smoothly and problems are no more. I went to 2 other shops prior to get a quote and was priced significantly higher than at Island Tire. I started coming here for my oil changes and general inspections and always feel well taken care off, especially as a female customer.
