Botched oil change... I took my vehicle for an oil change a couple of weeks prior from the date of this post. After service I noticed the slight but consistent oil leak I had going on had increased dramatically to the point that I was leaving huge oil puddles in a parking spot after a minimum of two hours. As of the date of this post, my car began to overheat, and when I popped the trunk I noticed that there was antifreeze on the engine. None of these problems were occurring with my vehicle before the oil change, it was noticeable by next day. I am hoping that it's an oversight that they will be able to acknowledge and willing to make right. read more

Definitely go to this place for any tire related needs. I had a front tire replaced for 50 bucks with a gently used one two years ago and it's still going strong. They did it in like 20 minutes. The guys were having lots of fun doing it, sounded like too... lots of laughter and rapid fire Spanish. *UPDATE* Downgrade. The used tire they sold me for my EV had wall separation occurring in less than a month from purchase. Resulting in my vehicle shuddering at speeds over 50mph. I had to replace the POS entirely. It could've have blown out on me or someone else in my family on the freeway. They don't guarantee any tires which is a crock of crap. Chuy's used to be my go to for tire repair. Ever since I moved to Altadena in 1998. Recently they have switched to cash only and have, twice, neglected to provide me receipts for two tires I purchased from them. And I was forced to get an alignment done due to improper mounting. I come here from time to time to check tire pressure, and they will add air to my tires if needed. They repaired one of my tires previously, due to a nail, so I check to see if it is still inflated properly. The other day I came here and did the tire pressure check, and he put air in all the tires. The problem was he overfilled the tires with air, up to 58 PSI which is way over the recommended amount. What bothers me the most is that instead of just checking the pressure,, he just went ahead and added more air than the tires need, and could've caused a blowout. I went to one of the large chain tire shops and had them let some air out. The mechanic said all the tires were overinflated I won't come back since this is extremely dangerous and careless behavior. read more

Extremely Unsafe, Dishonest, and Hostile -- Especially Toward Women I came here with a tire that wasn't flat -- just had a nail. I only wanted a patch. They claimed all 4 tires were bad, then admitted 1 was okay. I agreed to buy 3 used Bridgestones at $70 each. The price and brand were confirmed before they touched the car. When I went to pay, they tried charging $280 -- more than agreed. I checked the tires and realized one wasn't even replaced. It was a Continental, my original tire, visibly balding with thread exposed. I took a photo. When I pointed it out, things escalated. The owner told the worker to reinstall the tire with two nails they had just pulled. He said, "Ah, pues así te vamos a tratar," and the worker replied, "Sí, ponle ese." They had all 3 of my tires, but chose the most dangerous one on purpose. I begged them not to. I told them it was unsafe, a hazard -- they didn't care. I felt targeted, unsafe, and powerless. It felt personal -- like retaliation for calling them out. I was seconds from calling 911. Only when I started filming did they back off and put back one of my better tires. I paid for the 2 actually replaced and left shaken. I have videos and photos of proof of how they treated me. This place is unsafe and deeply unethical. Their behavior was aggressive, manipulative, and predatory. Go to Al's Auto Center at 590 N Lake Ave, Pasadena. They're honest, kind, and actually care about your safety. He could have just pointed to the front instead of asking me what I needed and walking away and not helping. Very unprofessional, and bad customer service. Went to do a balance and allignment, first of all they only balanced my two front wheels didnt even do my back ones, the dude who was putting my wheel back on used his impact gun, realized he threaded it. took the lugs back off readjusted and was inspecting it to see what he had done. when i asked him if there was something wrong he had a moment of silence then said "nope". then proceeded to drill the lugs on a threaded hub bolt. Drove off cause according to him it was fine.. just to drive about 15 miles and my wheel started shaking.. Cost me about $516 to get my hub bolt replaced since they also had to remove my wheel bearing. Wish they were honest people. Such a simple job mistake costed me a lot of money. read more

If I could leave a NO STAR REVIEW I would. Been coming here for years now, never had an issue and this one time when they are at fault they disrespected us. They had told us a price and the beginning of the service which we had agreed on and they put the tires on our truck. To after know there is an additional charge of $100 more for each tire. Never communicated with us to let us know the price had changed or even see if we can afford it. They didn't even apologize they just cared about the money! The old guy was just arguing with us instead of telling us it was a mistake they had made. That's not how you do business. May look like nice people but they are just a bunch of shady people who try to milk all the money out of you. Went in for a tire patch because one of my tires would lose pressure over time. Finally went in to get it serviced. They patched 2 holes. All is good, next day tire loses pressure again. Went back to chuys and they found another point of leak. Cool, paid another tire patch. I would think my tire is all good to go now but the next day the same thing happens where I lose pressure. Went back for the 3rd time and they wanted to patch another hole, this time I asked if they are patching a new hole or redoing a previous work. I asked to look at the damage and they showed me it was a new hole and that my tire was now unrepairable because of cracks created by alignment issues. Only when I asked if I can look at the damage myself they inform me to get a new tire. They basically tried to have me pay for unnecessary patches and eventually buy another tire from them. I feel scammed and taken advantage of. They could have told me my tire was unrepairable from the start. They are the "experts" after all so they definitely knew from the start. The issue with family owned tire shops is that they can do whatever they want to milk as much money. Do yourself a favor and go to americas tire in Pasadena. Their tires are cheaper than chuys as well. Chuys mark up their products more for profit. read more
