I have been going to a different mechanic for over 10 years. I was I a bind and needed my battery changed out. it was 5pm my usual mechanic said just come in the morning and we can do it, I couldn't wait till the morning, so I drove around looking for a mechanic and without any issues Certified Auto took my car and switched the battery. They also checked my oil and topped off (I was extremely low). Today I came in to ask a question about my oil. They noticed I was past due on my oil change and said we could take you now and have you put in an hour. This would have never happened at my old mechanic. Honestly I switched over to these guys after being sick of being ripped off at the Hyundai dealership repair shop in El Monte. I am never going back to that other business again. I was looking for a place that could do an oil change and smog check for the DMV at the same time. The coupon on yelp was a bonus. When I called to ask about their services, they I'd have to drop the car off and leave it. I wasn't too happy about that, but they offered that there was a Starbucks within walking distance where I could comfortably wait. Was referred here by a good friend and brother from my church, who is also a customer here. And I must say.. I'm glad they did! I was getting so tired of driving down to South Central LA, where I know a mechanic, but the shop down there seems to be downgrading on their quality of work. Luckily, with the help of this facility "Certified Auto Repair Specialist" aka Napa Auto Care Center. I was able to get rid of an annoying squeaking and thumping noise on my brakes. I'd like to add, I was very much please with Edwin, who greeted me with a smile as I walked in the door. Took down my information, and told me they'd call me. They were punctual, as they knew I needed my car back at a certain time, but they are also very thorough with their work! Goodbye annoying brake squeak/thump & I say 'hello!" to quiet braking and a brand new wheel stud (which I accidentally broke off). This will be my new go-to place to get work done... I find myself to be a pretty good, self-taught DIY-er. But one thing I despiseeee, is working on drum brakes!! I absolutely dread it, therefore I have an independent shop do it for me~ But many of the other shops I've been to in the past, have done a horrible job on my rear drums. Although you wouldn't believe it with both, perhaps the most generic name possible for the business "Certified Auto Repair Specialist" AND the smorgasbord of independent service garages up and down Walnut Street -- as reviewed in these pages, these guys do a great (thorough) and reasonably-priced job. I took my problematic 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander with 250K miles fearing that I'd need a new or rebuilt transmission, and dropped it right on Allen's lap. He correctly diagnosed the problem, faulty and old airflow censors and damaged wiring from likely rats chewing on them. The bill for work completed was super reasonable, and the car is running like a top. Without any reservation, I recommend Allen and his team at Certified Auto Repair Specialist. My 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV required the AC condenser to be repaired to get my air conditioner working again. The amount the dealership gave me was a lot more than I expected, so I called around to get some estimates. Edwin was knowledgeable and accommodating in discussing my car issues. He was also able to give me a quote half off than what the dealership quoted me. I hope i can gave 0star or less than zero... I needed to change for my prius headlight.(only left side) I found this shop from yelp and they have 5star thats why i try. I asked price and he said $25 for bulb and $10 for labor total $35. I thought thats good price. Then after change bulb he said total $60!!!! What a nasty business... He keep saying "you are miss understood. I said $25 bulb $35 for labor." English is my second language but how come $10!? If you explain price $25 bulb and $35 labor for customers you don't use ward "$10" right? I know every business is such a hard time now, but if you gave a good service, customer will come back. I contacted them about 2 months ago to get my car checked and was able to come in for them to check my car that same day. They were able to fix my serpentine belt that same day as well. They were really honest with what issues my car has and was able to give me a quote and timeframe on the spot. Since the repair was quite expensive as expected (my car is old and I never got it checked for issues for about 3 years), I told them that I needed a bit of time to think about it. I contacted them again after a few hours and they said they will get the job done the next day (my car had 2 really old and damaged front ball joints). Dropped off my car at around 8:30 am and told them I have work at 4 pm. They were able to finish the job around 2:30 pm. They are very honest, fast, and the price is reasonable. I came in for a smog test last week so I could register my out-of-state car. It took only 15-20 min on a weekday morning and was $50 (if you mention you found them on Yelp) plus about $9 paid to the California DMV, which is $10 off their normal price. They send your test results directly to the DMV and also give you a print out. Just very efficient and courteous. But, what really confirmed that I would be coming back was the help I got today. My old license plate had rusted and stripped screws and I gave up on getting the last one out. They told me to bring it in and not only were they able to get it out quickly, they installed my new plate with new screws for no charge. I know this is not a typical service they offer, but I was still surprised they didn't charge me anything. And they didn't try to sell me on any other services either, which I greatly appreciate. I went to three different shops and before even looking at my car i was told 3 different things needed to be done and everything would need to be repalced and they wanted to charge me over $600. So far so good! My car wasn't starting yesterday morning so I got it towed to their shop and they fixed it that same day. I paid about $1000 for them to fix my 2016 Honda. There was an issue with the starter and the root of the problem which was the valve cover gasket. I've also taken it in to have my oil changed twice and for them to possibly fix my a/c but they suggested I go back to Honda in case it's covered by them or it could be cheaper for them to fix.
