Super easy and quick - no appointment needed. Probably in and out within 10 mins. Current price for a smog check in April 2026 is $60 cash ($65 credit). - Saturday hours are great (8am-2pm) - Enter into the garage area from Greenwood St (not Walnut) - They do a few other services like oil changes The only other thing to highlight is that there is a small fee to retest if the car fails the smog check. You can share with them that you are not sure if the car will pass smog and they can try to do a few basic things to gauge right off the bat which we appreciated. Other places may do re-test for free if you do the initial smog check with them (but possibly higher in overall price) so keep that in mind. read more

I've been coming to Pasadena Test Only and Smog Check for years and they always take great care of me. It's not very fun getting that smog check slip from the DMV but Alen gets it all done in less than 10 minutes. Usually there isn't a long line and he works super fast. If you pay cash, it's a little bit cheaper. read more

My car required its first smog check. I really didn't know where to go, so I searched on Yelp. They had a great review, and it was very close to where I live, so I called to make sure that I could walk in without an appointment. The gentleman who answered the phone was very friendly and assured me that no appointment was needed and it would take no more than 10 mins. When I got there, I waited just outside their garage. As soon as he saw me, he came over and told me to enter through the other side pleasantly. The lady guided me exactly where to stop once I entered the garage. I saw that there was another car being checked, so I assumed it might take up to 20 minutes, but I was done in 5 minutes! She also told me that the results will be directly sent to the DMV, and they should have it in 30 minutes. Once I returned to my work, I went to the DMV site to renew my registration. As she said, the system already had my smog check results! I love recommending small businesses owned by real and nice people! read more

I had intended to visit the Pasadena Test Only Center and thought I had entered their address into Google Maps. I didn't realize I went to the wrong place until I read the sign, but Pasadena Test Only & Smog Check turned out to be the right decision. Alen and (I believe) his son were both very professional, respectful, and nice. They serve people through a drop in based system and the smog check was very quick. My car was done within 10 minutes. I came when they open at 8am! The owner and staff was so nice. They gave me a quote before they started the service. Don't forget your dmv paperwork. He took and and input all the info fast. He offered me a seat and wait and it was done less than 10mins! He printed the paperwork and I was out the door! He submits it directly to dmv and I keep my receipts! Since discovering this place on Yelp, I've been coming here for all my car's smog tests. The service has always been fast and courteous, and I really appreciated the air-conditioned waiting room with coffee for customers. It made the whole process much more comfortable, which is why I became a loyal customer. However, during my visit this summer, I was told by the lady at the counter that I couldn't wait in the air-conditioned room and instead had to sit outside near where they were performing the smog test--in the heat. That was a bit disappointing. At least, it was no more than 5-10 minutes. read more

On 9/27/25, I called ahead to see if I needed to schedule an appointment and to get a quote for a Smog Check. No appointment needed and for my Prius C they quoted me $55 by credit card or $50 by cash... and I love cash discounts! The woman who conducted the inspection was super fast and efficient! I was there for less than 10 minutes as she inspected and tested the vehicle. She didn't find any issues and submitted my passing grade electronically to the DMV. Quick note: when you arrive, enter from Greenwood Ave. If you happen to enter through the gates on Walnut, you'll need to back-in your car. read more

I just came back from getting my smog check. I have been going here since 2009. The people here are always so nice, professional, efficient, and helpful. $50 for a smog check if paid by cash. $55 if paid by credit card. The location is convenient, neat, and clean. Enter through their entrance on Greenwood Ave so you can drive headfirst. If you enter from Walnut then you have to back in the car which can be a bit of a challenge due to the other vehicles in the area. Please support this wonderful, local business! We need reliable merchants like this in our area. Landlords are raising rents to astronomical prices and we cannot afford to lose a five-star business like this. read more

Great Mom & Pop/Husband & Wife business who work well as a team. The setup is very efficient where you drive in one direction only. The car gets hooked up and entered in the computer system while either the husband or wife is telling you what is happening. Wife gave me the $20 discount without me asking even though I brought the coupon. Both were very friendly and had smiles on their faces. I was done and out of the bay in 10 minutes. Rolled in late Wednesday morning and had my dad's car smog checked after reading several positive reviews on Yelp. Stopped by the bank first as I wanted to be rewarded for paying cash. There's a coupon on line for $20 off in cash or $15 off with debit. It was unclear to me what I would pay. I was hoping between $45-$65. Ended up being $50 (cash price) which is great. I have been to this place twice since I've had to start getting my car smogged more often. I'm glad I found this place. The people who own the business are very very nice. They get you in super fast and the smog is super affordable. I came one day around 1ish on a Thursday and it was actually super busy. I was in and out in minutes! It was a weekday and I only had one person ahead of me that was finishing up when I arrived without an appointment. It cost $50 cash, which I'd been told about on the phone when I called beforehand, versus $55 on a credit card. The guy seemed to check several things. The results are submitted by computer by them. The team at the Test Only station are very nice and willing to take care of you with no waiting. I told him the my cat failed the last test since it was worked on at the dealer. He plugged in prior to running the test to see if it would pass. Once he confirmed it would he ran the test. They transmitted it to the DMV and I was done. Thank you! read more

As a girly pop scared of doing anything car-related, this place was very friendly! Thanks for the quick smog check! They don't take appointments, which is totally fine, considering how fast and efficient they are. I came in on a Friday afternoon and the whole process only took 15minutes at most. It's $65 for a smog test, but you get $20 off if you pay cash or $10 off if you pay credit card. This only applies to newer cars-- sorry forgot what year cut off they had! Quick & easy, price is reasonable as well. This is a clean spot that I come to get my oil changed. They do it right in front of you so you can see exactly what is being done. Owner & his wife are both very friendly. They do take walk ins but I would call to see if they have openings beforehand just to avoid any wait time. I got 2 cars done in less than an hour (i had to drive home & get my wifes car too). They only do oil changes & smog test. You can't bring your own oil (even if its the same unfortunately) read more

I appreciate that they take the tome to answer my questions and explain things -- as a woman who does not know cars, I'm usually wary of mechanics. But they are COMMUNITY. They treat customers like neighbors they want lasting relationships with. It takes away a lot of stress when dealing with people who wear their integrity, out in the open. They do all my smogs, and are very accessible when something suddenly goes wrong. Just today, woke up to a missing gas cap & engine light on. I immediately drove there, they diagnosed the problem and had me sorted in MINUTES. Same last month (?) when my car started breaking down while I was driving -- a busted, cracked radiator was the diagnosis, and my Jeep was running perfectly again by next day. I love the new location, too! It's so much better than the Colorado auto complex--this is open, airy, kinda art deco and has really good vibes in a neighborhood suited to their traffic. My dad was an excellent judge of character. They take as good care of me, as they did of him. Excellent value, and they REALLY know cars. All kinds. It's a relief to have such a trustworthy mechanic -- we can't live without our cars, in SoCal! Highly recommend. Decades of service don't lie!

I was charged $688 for a muffler and 2.25 straight pipe install. I was told that the muffler was a…read more50 series Flow Master for $180. After I pickup my supra I noticed the exhaust sound wasn't consistent which Flow Master and lifted the car to discover a generic no brand muffler and very poor welded job. When I confronted Omar, he said that despite my muffler not saying it was a Flow Master. I called Flowmaster the company to confirm, and they let me know they do not create Flowmaster mufflers without the Flowmaster brand emblem. Advance Muffler also had installed a 'magma flow" muffler on my son's Acura Integra a few months back so I also lifted his car to find that his muffler was also generic with no brand markings. I spoke to Omar about the situation and he refunded my Supra install and stated he is not a muffler guy and didn't know. I believe this shop often claims to sell you brand name mufflers, like Flowmaster at a premium price and installs generic no name mufflers not expecting customers to ever check.
