I'm fairly new to the area and haven't really found a local shop to take my care to. I needed an A service and a change of brakes. I parked my car by and Ray immediately greeted me with a smile. 2019 C63s Coupe. I had aftermarket brake pads installed by another mechanic, EBC yellowstuff. After driving it for a few weeks this weird squeak noise came up on my front passenger wheel, anytime it would rotate the squeak would go off and it just got louder and louder. Researched on yelp and found Rays, stopped by on Saturday just to get an appointment, Ray said to bring it by tuesday. Dropped off vehicle and within 2 hours Ray called me and said it was done. Apparently the pins were put back correctly so it touched the rotor. Ray found the issue fast and quick and now my car is not longer making the sound. I love cars, love driving, rack up a lot of miles, and keep cars until they die before I buy a new one. Because of my car wants and habits -- the high miles -- I can't really lease. I tried once, and wasted money needlessly due to high miles. I normally go to the dealer for regular service until the warranty is done. The reason is because if something goes wrong with car, I can always point to the fact that I always brought the car to the dealer for service, and make the dealer do the work that may be needed with minimum arguments. Mercedes dealer maintenance service is a pain in the ass, especially under Covid. Dealer service advisors sometimes can be a pain the ass... Then they don't always have a loaner car like they're supposed to and they put me in the cheapest/worst Ubers home. On any dealer visit, Mercedes maintenance bills seem to always be in increments of $600. If you get off light, it's $600. But if you by chance need rear brakes for example, then it's another $600, for a total of $1200 in one visit. Then gawd forbid that you need to replace engine coils... that's another $600, or a total of $1800 on one visit. If you drop off your car at 7:30am, the dealer service crew often won't call you until 3pm even for a simple oil change... And you finally pick up your car at 5 or 6pm... The point is, the wait time for your car is all day no matter how small or big the job. A few years ago, my previous E Class was on its last legs. I loved that thing, but also abused it to 160,000 miles. Started leaking coolant all over my garage floor, but I didn't deal with it for a month. Rusnak Arcadia quoted me $1800 to fix. I took it instead to Ray. He reviewed the car with me in front of my face, and told me I'd need a radiator replacement... For only 600!!! So I fixed that old E Class, then sold it, then went to Downtown LA Mercedes for a new E Class. Fast forward to now, I brought the E Class to Ray for regular service. Needed rear brakes too. How much? $450! And car was done in 2 hours! Rusnak or any other dealer would charged $1200 and taken all day! Plus, Ray is just a great person. I don't know how he handles the pain in the ass people that come his way. Bottom line: If you have a Mercedes and want to cut your maintenance cost in at least half, and have a really nice and capable business owner personally handle your car... Then head to Ray MBZ. I went to the dealership because my brake lights went off on my Benz SUV. I took it to the dealership like I was accustomed to doing. I was told that the front pads needed changing but they also 'recommended' i change the rear ones too. The total cost would be $1850! I asked if I could just change the front ones and could wait on the rear ones.... they suddenly changed their tone and said I needed to change both because it was a 'liability' for them. I went to Ray. Parts and labor for the front $440. I saved $1400 and plan to sell the car soon. Honest guy, fair pricing and no shady up-selling. Will be going to him for my 'A2' service ... which sounds complicated but is basically an oil change and fluid check... and at the dealership is an option for them to up-sell.
