He kept my car over the weekend, because he wanted to make sure I had no gas leak. Dan has so much expertise and knowledge in BMW"s. Overall, he discovered, I did not have a gas leak. So glad I waited the weekend to come here. Made an appointment Monday morning for Tuesday first thing. Met with Dan who greeted me first thing to follow up on my request to check on my engine light warning. Received a call midday to find out it was a loose gap cap that triggered the warning light. Apparently, it takes a few miles for the light to go away. I've been shopping around to get a price on an engine mount. First dealer told me I needed a right replacement,second dealer said I didn't need it at all, then was told I needed two mount replacements and finally just the right again. DTM replied to every message I sent, offered a reasonable rate, said they could turn the car around in a day. Meanwhile my car was in the shop 14 days at the dealership and I finally ran out of time and had to head back to Palm Springs so had the dealer just do it at a higher cost. But I won't hesitate to go here for all future service on my BMW. I've never seen a more responsive owner who was honest and direct about what they could offer. I'm not saying I can't wait until my car needs service, but I can say I can't wait to go here when it does. read more

I have a 2003 530i with less than 45,000 miles that I inherited from my dad. We recently spent a pretty penny on repairs, though, so when the inside driver pillar started leaking water from the rain, I thought, "Here we go again." I called around and my usual shop said it could be a number of things and they'd have to spend time diagnosing the problem. Also, they were all booked for a couple weeks. I called DTM and Eric quickly said, "It sounds like the sunroof drain is clogged. It's quite common with that car." He mentioned they usually send some high pressure air through the drain to fix it, so I made an appointment and came by a few days later. A few hours after dropping off the car, Eric said they didn't see much buildup but they cleaned out the drain and he didn't expect it to leak any more (he didn't charge me a dime, by the way!). Even so, if it continued to leak, he said to just bring it back. I finally tested it in the rain for about 20 minutes just now (it's raining HARD!) and not a single drop. I hope it holds up, but the way Eric and his crew conduct their business means I'll likely be back for regular maintenance and (hopefully not any time soon again) any major repairs that come up. read more

A rare occurrence of rain was about to happen and my wiper blades were dried out and fried. I had to find the closest and inexpensive to get new wipers blades for my convertible BMW. I was lucky to find this place, so close to where i was the day of rain. Someone was available to do the install and they had the blades in stock! This was going to be a good day. This wasn't a bad deal. It was less than $40 for the blades and install. Actually, it was a lot less expensive than originally planned, since the guy at the shop did not have changed, so charged me less to avoid having to give me change - what an idea and so great at that! I have a regular mechanic for my car, but thought i'd leave this review, since it was well deserved. I was in and out in about 10 minutes! Vroom vroom!! read more

Real professionals who know their business ... 5 Stars After hitting 100,000 miles, there were obvious repairs ... -valve cover gasket -oil filter housing gasket I communicated with Dan and got the quotes via email, and made my appointment. Dropped off the car Monday morning, and realized that more work was needed, like the build up gunk inside the engine. Picked up the Bimmer Tuesday afternoon and she runs like new. Kudos to Dan and Will for diagnosing that what seemed to be a problem with our BMW X3's transmission, and an intermittent "check engine" light, was actually due to low voltage coming from a nearly dead car battery that had been in place long after its expected life span. My worries about a several thousand dollar transmission repair were gone and my bill for the new battery and the associated reprogramming was less than $450. We will definitely be coming back to DTM Auto! read more

One of these days I'll have my mini serviced here. You see the thing is, try as I might, these savant master mechanics refuse to take advantage of me. They keep referring me back to the dealership when they know I can get the job done under warranty. They even tell me what to say and do to make sure I get the issue fixed under warranty. They have been more than kind, honest and generous with their valuable time and expertise. They have poked and prodded my driving machine but have yet to charge me a nickel. I received an estimate from another independent BMW shop and what they quoted me seemed pretty high plus they told me I needed to replace other items because it's wearing out and if i didn't get it done I would be in trouble. Typical right? I wanted to get a second opinion on what the issue was. Dan is awesome! He told me to bring it in and even showed me what the issue was. He took the time to explain what was wrong and showed me what need to be replaced. Dan also assessed what future repairs may be needed and was extremely honest if I needed to get it done now or if I could wait longer. It turned out I only needed to replace a few wear and tear hoses and the other items could wait. The price was much more reasonable. You can't find honest mechanics anymore these days. I found this repair shop through yelp after seeing the horrendous price quotes for getting a service at a BMW dealership. The brakes on my 328 were due as well as a typical oil change. Nothing big or special, but the service was good and my mechanic Eric seemed very honest about what I needed servicing on. Although there isn't a sitting area, Eric pointed me to a local coffee shop, Jameson Brown Coffee Roasters, which was about 3 blocks away. Pretty chill spot, You can read my review about it. What's cool is that he offered me a ride to anywhere local if I needed but I wasn't in a hurry. Nice touch. I saved about 35-40% compared to what BMW was going to charge me so its definitely worth coming through. And although it took 3.5 hours, that was pretty quick considering they needed to order my brakes and rotors and have them installed all at once. Definitely coming back for any other services. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but because of the exceptional service I had from Dan, I was itching to write one. I yelp anything and everything! This is like my bible before I try anything new. Because of the urgent nature of my situation, I wasn't able to yelp DTM shop until after I put the faith of my MINI S in his hands. On tuesday @5:30pm, I was driving in OLD Town pasadena and suddenly there was smoke coming out from under my hood. This freaked me out and didn't know who to call. I usually get my car serviced from Mini Dealership and tried calling them, but no answer. There's a another place I get my car serviced from but it was located all the way in Burbank. I needed help now, before my car fried! I called a couple of people to see if they can help me, and because of the time I knew I was in big trouble because of most auto shops are closed by 6pm. My brother called me at 5:50pm and said Dan from DTM Auto Salon will stay open and would wait for me. My brother's girlfriend really like this auto shop, so I trusted her and hurried over to the shop. I got there around 6:20pm. Dan is a very personable, and knowledgeable guy. He actually takes the time to explain everything to me and reassured that my car were in good hands. I usually don't trust mechanics but there's something about Dan that made him seem trustworthy. He said because of the heat from the leakage that he would have to inspect it the next day. He called me the next day and explain the breakdown of the costs and also filed a claim through my extended warranty. My car was ready today and Dan showed me all my broken parts and explain the breakdown of the labor fees, etc. We stayed at his shop more than 30mins to talk about car stuff, etc. His prices are very reasonable and I was glad that my extended warranty covered a little more than 80% of the total. The service is amazing. I have to admit I was initially a little nervous taking my car here as I usually take it over to some of the other independent BMW mechanics, but thank GOD I went with DTM. Dan is all about service, and taking care of your car. My BMW Z4 had an SMG issue, and they fixed it up without an issue. They are insanely honest, and they aren't forcing you to fix stupid stuff up. Look, I never write reviews on Yelp, I'm not trying to impress everyone with my review writing skills and trying to get badges, medals or dukedoms or whatever you yelpers get for writing reviews, but I will write a review for a place that is simply badass. The last review I wrote was for Eli's Jewlery for my engagement ring, and Eli's is awesome. DTM is at the same level of awesomeness for great service, prices, honesty, and damn Dan is a nice guy. Girls, you don't need to look further! Even if you don't know anything about your BMW, Dan will NOT scam you. I'm clueless when it comes to cars and my husband's schedule couldn't permit him to come with me...so of course, I was very nervous. However, the moment I drove up to this location, I felt very relaxed and ended up verifying how Yelp rating of this place is very true. Few days ago, my car indicated that I need my brake pads changed. I naturally turned to Yelp and I called around several places in Pasadena area and found DTM to be in the middle range. (The cheapest I found was The M Shop but it was a week wait for an appointment.) Like I said, I don't know anything about cars so Dan actually showed me what the problem is and explained in detail what needs to be done. He was even patient enough to talk to my husband on the phone. My husband approved all that needs to be done and so I dropped off my car and they took me to Santa Anita Mall while everything was fixed. It was done in 3hours. * Price = From what I can tell, it is fair :) * Location = convenient. if it is your first time, I would drive up to the shop entrance and ask where you need to park. * Service = very nice and friendly. I had the engine light come on and wanted an oil change anyways for my 328i coupe. So on a Monday morning at work I called DTM and spoke to Dan. He said he I could come by right away and even offered a ride back to my work office, which was five minutes away! I only had to change the microfilter, but got an oil change since that was due anyway. The prices were very fair and he even gave me a great discount since I was a new customer. I like how he doesn't try to sell me and makes honest recommendations. He checked my car inside and out and gave me a few precautions to keep an eye on for the next year. 5 stars for a mechanic? Believe it!! My brakes were squeaking so I brought my Mini in to DTM after reading all the yelp reviews. They were right. Dan is honest and very informative. I have had my brakes done, my lights changed, ,my thermostat replaced- all on different occasions. Each time Dan took the time to inform and show us what was wrong. He would let us know what needed to be replaced and what could wait thus saving us moola. I feel comfortable as a woman ( who knows little about cars) talking to them. They are not patronizing like some other mechanics. He is really busy so make an appointment. I was debating whether to post this since I want to keep Dan to ourselves but I no longer have my MINI so I sadly will not be visiting DAN as I switched over to Honda ( for cheaper/easier maintenance).
