5 stars for a mechanic? Believe it!! My brakes were squeaking so I brought my Mini in to DTM after reading all the yelp reviews. They were right. Dan is honest and very informative. I have had my brakes done, my lights changed, ,my thermostat replaced- all on different occasions. Each time Dan took the time to inform and show us what was wrong. He would let us know what needed to be replaced and what could wait thus saving us moola. I feel comfortable as a woman ( who knows little about cars) talking to them. They are not patronizing like some other mechanics. He is really busy so make an appointment. I was debating whether to post this since I want to keep Dan to ourselves but I no longer have my MINI so I sadly will not be visiting DAN as I switched over to Honda ( for cheaper/easier maintenance). I will be referring all my friends who drive BMWs and MINIs to him. Thanks Dan for all your honest input/work. read more

Dan is the man. Anyone with a BMW would be insane not to go see Dan at DTM Auto Salon for maintanence or repair. Extremely professional and courteous, you won't be dissappointed with DTM's level of service. Dan and Jonathan are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and on the level. For BMW service look nowhere else. read more

I visited DTM Auto Salon for the first time a few weeks ago to perform a regular oil change on my 2008 BMW m3. The service was great and the owner/ operator Dan Taylor was very knowledgeable and courteous. He knows what hes talking about and it made me feel my car was in good hands. I had a recent issue with my car today and dropped by DTM because I was in the neighborhood to see if he could help me out. He definitely made me feel like a valued customer 5 stars from me.... Thank you Yelp and thank you Dan. I can't even wait to get home before writing this. If you have a BMW or a Mini, this is your shop from now on. I know it's mine. Dan is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, as is the rest of the crew. It's immediately apparent that they love what they do, they have a blast doing it, and they are constantly honing themselves. I can't say that about ANY of my experiences with dealerships. Dan took extra time to walk me through diagrams, pointing out every part, and explained exactly what was going on plain english. I learned a bunch about my car today! Like the others say, he's very transparent and straight with pricing, your options (even if said options hurt his business). Awesome shop. Awesome prices. Awesome human beings. It's a no brainer folks. read more

If I could give DTM Auto Salon 10 stars I would. I was gifted a 2000 323ci that was overheating and had a radiator leak, broken rearview mirror and flat tire. Or so I thought. I had her towed to DTM and Eric called me to tell me the bleeder screw was missing which caused the leak. Sounds simple. That was just the beginning, the former owner never changed the oil so Eric called me asking if I could come by the shop and he showed me what a mess this engine was in. I have pics of the engine and the gunk of hard oil that needed to be cut out of the car. Any other Shop would of said this couldn't be fixed. Not DTM AutoSalon. He did numerous flushes, repaired the exhaust, worked on the catalytic converter, rewired the lights. They did so much!!!! Eric is so knowledgeable and thinks out of the box. It took a month with ALL the repairs but my car is running so smooth and I could not be happier. They even took her for the smog test. Which she passed!!!! They are very honest and with EVERYTHING they did it only cost me $2700.00. It's like I have a new car. If you need a repair try DTM Auto first!!!!!! I will post pics of what the engine looked liked before and what they took out of the car. read more

Dan is as close as you are going to get to honesty and superior customer service. Being a woman and owning a BMW can be a bit of a challenge. My friends and family have always told me to be careful when taking my car in for service because they will gauge your eyes out and sell it to the black market. I didn't get that vibe when I took my car in to see Dan. Prior to seeing Dan, I had already gotten a quote for the repairs. Repairs that would have costed over $3000. Dan treated me like family. He took care of my car and it was no where near $3000 that I had to spend. He was willing to work with my busy schedule and accommodated me as much as he could. The car ran like a dream! Any girls out there who owns a BMW, you definitely can trust that Dan will do as he promised. I am definitely going back here again. I think I found the BMW technician of my dream! read more

My '04 Mini had three warning lights flip on at once--Tire Pressure Monitor, ABS, and Traction Control. Scheduled the first Friday they had available. Didn't drive my car for about a week as it is my extra car. About half way to the garage on my scheduled day, the lights all turned off. Hmmm... All better I guess. I hope. I pull into the shop at my scheduled time and they take me in promptly. I tell them what has happened and we both agree they should at least take a look. Long story short, they spent over an hour running diagnostics on my tire sensors and test-driving my car around the block. Didn't find any problems and determined that dirty sensors(which they cleaned) may have been at fault. Car has since been running w/ no problems. When I called to make the appt, they quoted me $95 for diagnostics which would be applied to any work done. When they didn't find any work to do, they waived the fee. Over an hour of work and they didn't charge me a dime. Will I be back for my regular maintenance and any other needs? Without question. Thanks guys for your work and your honesty. read more

I drive all the way from Redlands (1 hour and 30 minutes) to have my BMW repaired with peace of mind by Eric and his team at DTM. I found them by reading Yelp reviews and took a chance last year. I will only take my car to DTM if I am anywhere near So Cal. I had taken it two other places--both overcharged and fix the wrong items in my car. I was tired of spending $1K every time I went to the auto shop only to have another issue arise a week or so later. It turns out that others were not getting the root of the problem like DTM. I am on a tight budget and Eric is so good about giving me the best options for repair that are viable for my wallet!! They take the time to listen to you--not only about symptoms of car issues, but also how much you can afford during your visit. They work hard to fix the car so I can go on my next adventure! read more

If you own a high-end European car like a BMW, then you don't want to take it to some cheapo quick lube shop that only differentiates cars by numbers on the oil filters. All they do is drain your oil, fill it back up, charge your card, and send you on your merry way. You need to take it to an expert that actually knows about your vehicle and its specific needs. DTM Auto Salon is that place. You have fully trained BMW techs that are dedicated to diagnosing and fixing the problem(s) on your car. You paid a lot for your car, so you want it to last a long time. BMW dealers offer the same type of service, but at a much higher cost. At DTM Auto Salon, you get top notch service without breaking the bank. I took my car there yesterday for an alternator problem and it was fixed right away. The owner, Dan Taylor, also went through and ran all the extra engine codes then figured out what needed to be fixed. One was actually a hose that got chewed up by a rat trying to stay warm in my engine bay at night. Crazy, huh? It's the type of customer service you should come to expect when taking your car anywhere. Not only will your car be fixed, but the staff will give you recommendations on how to keep it running for years to come. read more

If you are a Mini and BMW owner, look no further! DTM is the place to go for all your Mini and BMW needs. I'm a car enthusiast and demand only the best for my car. As we know dealership always charge arm and leg for any work that needs to be done, and it's hard to find a good and reliable independent mechanic shop. Very honest shop and attention to detail. They are friendly and care about their customers. They give honest feedback about what your lovely car really need. The shop is clean and organized. Overall very good experience. Pro: 1. Honest people 2. Good follow up on the status 3. Quick turn around 4. Attention to detail 5. Reasonable price Con: Nothing outstanding read more

This place is fantastic! I drive a 2004 BMW X5 and my brake line was leaking. I needed to get into an auto body shop quickly, but I've had really terrible luck with places that weren't comfortable or knowledgeable enough to work on a european car. These guys were great. Dan got me in, inspected the car, a few hours later I received a call back breaking down the cost of parts and the total with labor. It was easy to understand and reasonably priced. He even made sure to get a smog check taken care of when I asked, regardless of the fact that his shop didn't do it. Within a couple hours everything was ready to go with a cleared smog check, two fixed brake lines... AND he fixed a sensor in the back, a brake light on the back left and filled up my oil for no additional charge. They picked me up from my apartment since I was without a ride to come grab my car. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend this auto body shop if you're in need of someone. read more

DTM Auto Salon is my car's new favorite place to go. I was driving to work one morning, and the oil light went on. Smoke or steam was coming from the hood, and it smelled like burning. I called my regular BMW repair place, and after finally getting past the busy signal, they said they could look at it but probably couldn't fix it that day. I took it in, and they said the car was leaking oil, but they said it could wait. I wanted a second opinion. I Yelped BMW repair in Pasadena and found DTM. I brought the car in to be checked at 5:30 p.m. and they took time answering all my questions. I liked them right away because the repair person came to the street to look at my car and showed me with a flashlight what was going on. Oil was leaking onto a plate, causing the steam and burning smell. He also said I could wait, but if it made me feel better, they could fix it. The price he quoted was worth the peace of mind. They scheduled me for first thing in the morning. When I picked up the car, it was on time, the same price as quoted, and the repair person opened the hood and showed me where it had been leaking and that he cleaned all the oil off so it wouldn't smell or steam. After gushing for a bit over how awesome my car is and what stellar condition it is in (It's a 2003 but it's new to me. I've only had it for a year and a half.), I went away with a big smile. I will definitely go back for oil changes and any repairs. I highly recommend them. read more

Thank you yelpers for helping me find DTM Auto Salon. We purchased our X5 used and I was always weary of the sale, but now with Dan and DTM Auto Salon, I can put my worries to ease. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but like everyone wrote...Reasonable prices, great service, knowledgable staff, and local, I won't go anywhere else. Oh it also helps that there was a huge rainbow in the sky after I came and picked up my ride, and it's been smooth sailing ever since. read more

I can't recommend these guys enough. I have a 2012 X5 and the other day my engine started smoking after all the coolant leaked out. I called and spoke to Eric who was really nice on the phone and said I could have my car towed to their shop. When I arrived I met Eric who was just as professional and nice in person as he was on the phone. He gave me a timeline of when they expected to be able to check my car out. Eric called right on time and gave me the rundown (cracked expansion tank). He gave me a very reasonable quote and an estimate of completion. My car was ready on time and the invoice was unchanged from Eric's original estimate. I left extremely satisfied. This experience is very different than I was used to going into the BMW dealer for service/repairs. Sure the dealer has higher labor costs, but on top of that they always ended up "finding" something else to be repaired. In addition, the dealer over the phone always failed to include every line item so my total was always higher when I arrived. The same repair through my dealer would've easily been double. This was not the case with this shop. While I hope I don't have anymore issues with my car, if I do I have the peace of mind knowing I've found a trustworthy mechanic. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with my car. It's a great car, but it it is really expensive to maintain (BMW) - so I am always on the look out for an affordable, but good (experience with the inner workings of a finicky BMW) auto shop. I looked on yelp (search terms: BMW service) and came along the listing for DTM and the review (as you can see) were amazing. I had to check them out for myself. So I gave them a call to get a quote on the service needed (new battery) and they came in lower than everyone else. I came in the next day (ie: today) and they swamped out the battery and even took a peek at some other things I had on my "I think my car is angry at me" list. Seriously above and beyond any other shop that I have been to (and it's super clean!). The owner (I think) Dan, was awesome. Incredibly knowledgeable about BMWs (I think they only service Minis & BMWs) and answered all the questions I had. Everyone else there seems well versed in the art of BMW maintenance and they were so polite (did I forget to mention how reasonably priced they were in comparison to other places!?!). I might have to keep my car a little longer than I planned, now that I have a place to take it without charging me my first unborn. And in all honestly, they're service, knowledge and prices really made me feel hoodwinked by the previous auto shops I've been to in the past - so much so, I plan on deleting my other auto reviews because they were good reviews, but after being at DTM, I feel like I was suckered before :) read more

It's not often one finds a great mechanic that is Honest, reliable and provides outstanding service! The guys at DTM far exceed all that. Took my 2005 M3 in on Saturday for "Service Engine Soon" and "EML" lights. Dan, the owner, was welcoming and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem right there and then. The car was ready by Monday. Long overdue review for Dan The Man at DTM. Dude knows his Beemers. Very honest guy and best prices around. Even if you're like me, and do a fair bit of self-diagnosing and troubleshooting before bringing in, he doesnt cop an attitude like most mechanics. He has no problem installing customer-supplied parts (implies no warranty of course), will answer any questions you have, and makes the best, most economical suggestions for repairs. Offers up recommendations of possible issues with every visit, but doesnt force anything on you and doesnt try and up sell ever. DTM is the type of shop that even if you moved across the county, you would still drive to bring your car here forever. Shops like DTM are hard to find, give them some love!! read more

Really helpful and friendly employees, thorough job on the car, very reasonable price (much cheaper than I'd estimated). One of the issues I went to DTM for was covered under a recall I didn't even know about... one that not even my previous bmw-only mechanic notified me of. They could have scammed me and had me fix it in their shop, but they sent me to the dealer instead to get it done for free. In summary, great work by very honest and nice folks! I'll be back! read more

I received an outrageous estimate from the Mini dealer (and scare tactics that you need to spend thousands or else) so I looked on Yelp and found DTM and Eric. Eric was very friendly listening to my situation and then patiently answering all of my many questions. He gave me a quote that was very reasonable and almost half the price of the Mini dealer. I decided to go in, but Eric asked more about the car and said it sounds good - no need to spend money for no reason. He offered a free checkup/test whenever I want to swing for peace of mind, which I will do in a few days. It is extremely rare to find a good mechanic who is so friendly and patient, and who helps you save money if you don't need to spend it on unnecessary repairs. From now on, I'm only taking my Mini to Eric! read more

Spent the day today having my '04 330Ci ZHP worked on (Inspection II, and a couple little things), and I can tell you that these guys are as good as it gets when it comes to independent BMW shops. Dan and his team are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and it's refreshing to be spoken to in such an honest and considerate way. The guys at DTM truly have your best interest in mind, and it shows in the way their work is done. All parts are factory OEM, unless there are better alternatives available, and then you're given a choice, with no pressure from Dan in either direction. DTM's prices were some of the lowest in town, but the job was done quickly and I have every bit of confidence that it was done properly. Great shop, and will not hesitate to come back. Thanks guys! read more

I don't know much about cars but Dan really took the time to explain EVERYTHING without my even asking him to. He is so thorough and passionate about cars, especially BMWs. I watched as his team carefully inspected my car. They found nails stuck in my rear tire while no other shop did, I'd say that is thorough enough for me :) I owner, Dan, once worked for a DMW retail service and decided to open up his own shop. He definitely knows what he is talking about and clearly loves to talk about it! DTM is a great little shop! Dan, the owner, is a young, skilled and very knowledgeable mechanic with nearly a decade of experience and training working at a local prestigious BMW dealership. Dan assessed the mis-firing of my BMW engine, and came back with a list of repairs to fix the issues at a great price!... Quite frankly, I was dreading the sticker-shock, you know the kind you get at most foreign auto repair shops. I was pleasantly surprised by first the price, and then the level of quality of repairs. In this tough economy, it is simply great to deal with people who get it and deliver great value for your money. Also, Dan priced, categorized, and prioritized other less pressing repairs that could be done on a future visit. Again, high value here too in knowing the overall condition of the vehicle and understanding what needs to be fixed now, and what can wait until later. If you are looking for a very competent, honest, and great value shop, look no further than DTM Auto Salon. DTM Auto Salon gets my highest endorsement. read more

I was a loyal customer of New Century for years, even after Dan disappeared without notice. Then one fine day, I had the good fortune of discovering he had opened DTM. I will never go back to the dealer - or anywhere else - for service. DAN IS THE MAN! He always explains with great detail and clarity what he sees under the hood, which repairs are needed, and what will be coming down the pike. When replacement parts are in order, he turns on the computer and and walks me through a few different options, prices, and recommendations. He is honest, gives a fair price, and does not do unnecessary work. I brought my car in once because I thought it was due for a service and oil change. He sent me home and told me to wait at least three months. Another time, my door lock post had broken/vanished - I asked Dan what could be done - he took the post of of one of his own cars, replaced mine, and sent me on my way. That's Dan. I probably would have traded my car in a few years ago given the cost of repairs on an out-of-warranty model, but now expect to drive it as long as possible, well over 150,000 - at least as long as Dan is around. read more

It has been a while since I wrote my original review and it is time for an update. My rating is still the same and my feelings about DTM and the Crew is even more positive now after five years or so of using DTM. The work is done correctly the first time and the cost is what they estimate and significantly less than a Dealer. Unlike some Dealers they do not find problems that do not exist or try to panic you into getting it "fixed" right away. More than ten years ago a Dealer told me that the differential mount was cracked and should be replaced immediately. I opted to not do the replacement and recently asked DTM if there were any problems with the differential mount. Their response was no problem found, I could damn DTM by saying they are more honest than one Dealer, but I would prefer to say they are honest and strive to make it clear what needs to be done now and what items can wait a while without negative effects. read more

I went to DTM after the M Shop told me they didn't have any openings and I needed work done on by my E46 M3. Dan knew what he was talking about and worked with me to make sure that the fixes were as cheap as he could get them. He clearly explained everything he was doing and showed me what was going wrong. Not only was he knowledgeable and worked with me on the price, he also stayed later to make sure I could get my car the same day (he worked on it after he closed!!). I rarely yelp, but I know it's hard to find a reputable & reliable car place/mechanic. I brought my car in today for window tinting (X5) since they were running special. I heard about this place through a friend and it got good reviews, so I figured why not. I dealt with Dan who I think was the owner. He was easy to talk to and professional...didn't try to haggle any extra services which I appreciate. I am extremely satisfied with the services... especially for such a reasonable price! I definitely will not hesitate to come here for future car needs. Actually, my Mom's warranty expired (also X5) so I'll recommend this place to her and that says a lot! Insider note: It was a little hard to find (I actually had to call them while I was driving on Monterey Pass). Basically, turn into the "Smog World" driveway and look in left corner of the lot. Dan and his team at DTM Auto Salon are by far the best shop I've ever taken my car to. I'm pretty picky about who I let drive, touch, or work on my car. Unlike other shops or the stealerships, he's honest and tells you what you need or don't need. I found the only shop I will be taking my car to in the future. I have been a loyal patron of DTM for the past few years, I was happy with their service for the earlier part of the relationship; Recently they have become sloppy and uncaring. They forgot to replace the Mini emblem cover on my engine, with the screws floating around in the hood. The time before that they replaced my alternator, and left a ratchet screwdriver in the hood area; after raising the price on there quote. "Who does that". Do you think they would have covered any damage those two blunders would have caused? DTM has taken a few steps backwards. They get 2 stars only because they are still better then the dealer. I recently bought my vehicle to DTM Auto Salon for a oil change. I was greeted by the owner and techs. I told them what I needed and they quickly racked my car. It was a busy day for them, so I was very impressed. The shop is kept extremely organized and clean, which is a great sign. The more organized a shop is the less likely your car will be missing bolts, screws etc... (I've had tools left in the car after a service once). During the oil change, Dan discovered a damage to the slash guard on my car and a crack in my exhast manifold. This was probably why my car smelled like exhaust once in awhile. I gave him the go ahead will the repairs and it turned out great. Thanks DTM read more

After 3 trips to New Century BMW for and "active steering" issue, with no results and out of pocket $450. I finally decided to check out Yelp and found Dan ant DTM. Came in one morning and told him the problem of the active steering notice and steering wheel off about 20 degrees. Also let him know the dealer didn't fix it and wanted another $350 for further trouble shooting. He ended up keeping it all day and was able to fix the problem way under his initial diagnosis fee. Honest and reputable place. I will definately recommend. No BS, straight to the point and very fair. read more

I really never do ratings but I promised Eddie (you will get to know him) I would because my first experience with DTM Salon was great to say the least. I called DTM Salon (due to their ratings/expertise) and spoke to Eddie who immediately set me up with an appointment for the next day. He let me pick a time that would fit with my schedule, which of course was a big plus. I had some worries about an intermittent squeaking noise I heard coming from the front left wheel well of my e46 m3. I also wanted to get my SMG transmission. They did a full diagnostic on the car (lifted the car and checked everything) and cleaned the brakes. Eddie then proceeded to tell me that the car was fine and I have nothing to worry about. The best part? Everything was done free of charge! I was expecting to pay a nominal fee considering they spent over an hour checking everything out. I even pulled out my wallet, but Eddie still refused. I must say it was a refreshing experience. Eddie is a real class act. Side note: I also asked Eddie about an issue I had with my convertible top sticking when closing. He immediately told me that convertible mechanisms were not their area of expertise and gave me the info for an expert on this particular matter. Moral of the story: Honest business run by people you can trust. No bull**** here, I was in and out with a smile on my face and a nice fat wallet : ). read more

I had a wonderful experience having Dan and his crew replace the radiator and hoses in our 2003 BMW 525i. His estimate was fair and accurate. He explained the availability of the OEM radiator which is the same as the one with the Bmw logo minus half the price of the dealership. The shop is clean with no frills. All of those fancy features such as coffee bars, waiting rooms and big screen tvs only serve to increase the overhead of the dealers and therefore the cost to you and me. Dan and DTM Auto Salon have no frills, except where it counts: expertise, fairness, and the latest diagnostic tools. We're purchasing a mini and will take it to them too! read more

I never write reviews on places but that's what I had to I would never take my BMW to that auto salon again I was referred to this place my friend but I think the quality of service has went down over the past years I went in for a coolant repair they told me that they will fix it for $2600 I agreed to get it fixed I talked to one of the repair men and he explained the problem so I trusted him after that he never came and talk to me again after I picked up the car to explain if there's anything else that needed to be fixed. First red flag! over the next two days the lights all the lights came back on, the car was lagging when starting up I called them to explain that to them and they had a smart response I only was able to talk to the blonde lady and never the guy who actually fix led my car a month later the same problem happened again with the coolant I took it into them and they then explained to me that there was also another problem with my car but if it was their fault they will fix it they called me back and ended up being their fault!! they did fix it but my car has not been the same sense I would never take it my car back to them I wish the owner was around .i have a 650 BMW that is very expensive to fix I have you have to really research on a good mechanic and do not trust this salon unless Dave is there i here good things about him but he was never there to save me. This is my first ever post on Yelp. I felt a need to write this review for a couple of reasons. First, the guys at DTM are as amazing as everyone else has written. Competent, professional, and you get a real sense of the integrity with which they operate. Second, I am a total pain in the ass customer, yet they consistently treated me with respect and professionalism. As a former Client Advisor at a BMW dealership ranked #1 in sales and service(Erhard BMW) I can attest that these guys work with integrity and extreme pride.
