I had a wonderful experience having Dan and his crew replace the radiator and hoses in our 2003 BMW 525i. His estimate was fair and accurate. He explained the availability of the OEM radiator which is the same as the one with the Bmw logo minus half the price of the dealership. The shop is clean with no frills. All of those fancy features such as coffee bars, waiting rooms and big screen tvs only serve to increase the overhead of the dealers and therefore the cost to you and me. Dan and DTM Auto Salon have no frills, except where it counts: expertise, fairness, and the latest diagnostic tools. We're purchasing a mini and will take it to them too! read more

Dan & Eddie at DTM are awesome. I've been going to them since I bought my older X5. Dan looked the car over when I first bought it and let me know what repairs needed to be done and what was still covered by my warranty and then suggested I have those repairs done at the dealer. Can't get much more honest then that. When I returned with a list of repairs the dealer told me I needed, Dan looked it over and confirmed my suspicions that the dealer was just trying to get me to make repairs that were not needed. These guys have been nothing but honest and open with me. They know my car and they know me when I call. Their impeccable customer service is one of the reasons why I like them so much! If you live in Pasadena or anywhere in the SGV, there is no reason to look at any other shop. These guys are honest, fair and basically, the best. read more

The prices at DTM Auto have gone up and the customer service has gone down. I've always had a good experience with DTM Auto, however, since they've gotten busy I rarely get to talk with Dan (the owner?) anymore. I get the feeling that Dan probably deals with his more high end BMW customers instead of his less wealthy Mini Cooper customers (like me). Whatever the reason, the others at the shop don't give the same level of service as Dan. As an example, I called to get a price on a repair and was told I would receive an email with the estimate. I never received an email. Soon after I emailed to ask how much an oil change would be..again, no response, no reply email. What's up guys? Another thing is although I trust DTM to do quality work, their prices have been getting pricier. As an example, an oil change for my Mini Cooper was $43 more than the place I eventually went to who specializes in primarily Mini Coopers. Although this shop is further away, the cost savings and personalized customer service is worth my time and the drive. Thanks for the memories DTM Auto, we can still be friends but it's time to move on. read more

I moved out here with my g/f about a year ago. We both drive BMW's and have both experienced some horror stories relating to what we thought should have been simple repairs on our vehicles. In the time we've been in CA, I've even been to a couple of other local shops and typically leave feeling like I'm being gouged or taken advantage of, just because I drive a Beemer (it's a 2003, folks, really?). Anyway, recently my 2003 540i simply would not start. I called around and had it towed to DTM. Dan could not have been any more courteous and straightforward. He went through the possible issues (with associated repair costs) and allowed me to make the ultimate decisions without any pressure. It turned out that I just needed a new key, which had to be ordered through a dealer. Dan was kind enough to hang on to my car, give it a full diagnostic (again, NO pressure to fix anything, but if and when I'm ready, I know where I'm going) in the couple of days waiting on the new key. When it came in, he reset everything (alarm, etc.), all for minimal diagnostic cost. The topper was my g/f's 2005 325i which had an issue with a turn signal. Upon another full diagnostic, Dan and his team identified that a previous issue had some serious consequences in clogging some coolant hoses. Long story short, we were looking at a potential engine failure if nothing was done. BUT, he didn't just explain this to me, he waited for me to come in, gave me a pair of gloves and let me FEEL the problem. It's this kind of attention to detail and customer service that made me feel like I was in the right hands. We stood around and discussed potential solutions (and again, associated costs) and yet again, he allowed me to make the call on the fix. We were fortunate that one of our lower cost options, which was a bit of a "crapshoot" actually worked! I'm not even going to tell you how generous he was when it came time to pay the bill. He put in at least 4 solid days diagnosing and attempting to fix what is a rare issue, even giving up his full Saturday. I was expecting the worst with the bill. Dan is a saint, and all I can say is that I hope to be able to really "repay" him for his time, efforts, dedication and determination by this recommendation and by entrusting him with anything and everything relating to both of our cars in the future. It's this kind of work ethic that shows how much he cares about these cars and his customers. I don't write many reviews (lazy, I guess?), but I felt compelled to write this one simply because of how far Dan exceeded my expectations. read more

Dan is awesome! I'm terrible at taking care of my car and I freak out everytime any light comes on in my car. I've had the "fill up your engine oil" light come up twice in the last several months and both times Dan took care of it free of charge. He just asked that I come back when I needed my car to be serviced. He didn't give me the sleazy "i'm gonna rip off this stupid girl who doesn't know crap about her car" vibe so I went back this week to fix a broken lock. He actually charged me less than some of the places I've gotten quotes at in Koreatown. My car was fixed in a few hours and he even let me know that they can arrange to give me a ride back to my work if I ever needed to have anything fixed again. DTM Auto always provides great service at a great price. This time I mentioned to them that I wanted to get a spare Mini Cooper key. They don't sell them, but they told me that some dealers charge over $300 for the two part key (true) and I should ask for a lower price or look for a lower price. I did. I found a dealer who sells the two part key for $203. This is still a lot, but DTM just saved me over a $100. Thank you! read more

What can I say...I love my car and try to take good care of her, but sometimes I forget...or procrastinate. Twice now DTM has helped me when I've been near tears and frantic over that darn Mini Cooper. Once last summer when my car was dangerously low on oil and turned off on the 210, the guys at DTM let me bring her in without an appointment and filled her up with multiple quarts of oil for free. This week, after failing my smog check due to an idiot light, I walked down to DTM in the hopes they could steer me in the right direction. Despite being busy with other cars and my not having an appointment, the guys fit me in and were able to diagnose the problem. They not only explained to me what happened and what I needed to do to reset the computer, they did it without talking down to me or trying to sell me a bunch of extra repairs-something all my single ladies can appreciate! The price was beyond reasonable, even for a non-import/luxury mechanic, and after seeing their service list with prices, I can say that even for larger repairs they are extremely affordable. These guys obviously care about the cars they work on and have a passion for the brand-something that makes all the difference in whatever type of work you do. Whenever I pay for repairs or services of any kind, I like to ask many many questions and also watch as everything gets done (whether it's fixing my car or getting a root canal haha). Anyway, Dan and his team are AWESOME because they not only humor my peculiar tendencies, but went above and beyond to show me how they will test my car, where and how the repairs will be made, and let me hang out and use their WiFi/eat their chips/watch them do the work. The entire process was super easy -- I actually went to Dan 3 times in 2 weeks, so instead of recounting all my visits, I will say this: - Dan is super responsive. I've always e-mailed him and he always responds within a day and usually has free time on the weekdays. They were able to take care of my car the next morning on two occasions. - He doesn't push repairs on you and is honest about what you really need fixed - If you want to know about your car and have questions, Dan and his team are super friendly and explain everything to you! TBH, I don't know much about cars, but I learned a lot from my visits here and it helps me become a more educated consumer - They are very open with showing you the computer monitor with the breakdown of the cost of the parts, labor, etc. - I think the prices are very fair because I had all the receipts from previous quotes/estimates from another mechanic and Dan's prices were lower than theirs (but that was a BMW specialty shop in Northern CA, not sure if prices are diff. btwn the two regions). Eric and the team at DTM have serviced my BMW 325i for about 2 years now. There have been times when more than one repair was needed, and they helped me prioritize repairs so I was able to spread out costs. I was just in the shop twice in the last week for a plastic cover that helps protect different components under the car. The first visit they removed the part and even 'reshaped' a part of the bumper due to damage on my part to parking to close to those unforgiving concrete parking stops. They did it all free. Yesterday I returned as another piece of the plastic cover had come loose. They replaced it and didn't even bother charging me labor. Knowledgable, professional and extremely down to earth. They love what they do...in fact, they all drive BMW's as best I could tell. read more

A hundred times better than Bimmer PHD. They work faster, have better prices, and much nicer employees. I took my BMW 2004 5 series there because something in my door broke so it didn't lock. They diagnosed the issue extremely fast and called me back just a couple hours after I dropped off the car. The part had to be shipped from Germany so it took a while, but after it was here, they fixed it for me within an hour. On top of that they even fixed two of my lights that went out from before. I asked them how much for those but they just did it for free. I love these guys. Danny and Erik are both great, and I'm sure the rest of the workers too. read more

I had my car serviced here for the 1st time last week and was more than pleased w/ the results. The owner, Dan, is great to work with. He has a strong background w/ BMWs so is very knowledgeable and makes customer satisfaction his primary goal; thus, puts a lot of effort and time into diagnosing your car. My car, which is a 2007 X5, rec'd an 'engine over heat' error. Sadly, we just recently exceeded our manuf warranty due to mileage overage so knew that if we brought it to the dealership, we would have to pay a few hundred up front just for the diagnosis. I was highly referred to DTM. Dan identified the issue right away and fixed my car that same day. He even helped me clean out the crusted coolant...which was really an added quality touch. If you have a BMW or any BMW owned vehicles, I totally recommend coming to DTM. Not only will you get quality care for your precious car, but you also get quality service. Came here earlier to get a repair on my electric seat, which had the infamous seat twist. I scheduled my appointment, came in, got the car assessed, and pretty much had a smooth business transaction. The guys here at DTM are honest, and trustworthy. The price was very reasonable and I will definitely be back for the second seat to be repaired, along with anything else I might need to do. My mini cooper was making a weird noise so I decided to go here after reading the other reviews. I was definitely glad that I did. It turned out my car simply needed more oil. Instead of pretending it was something else and charging me for unnecessary services, I left with an oil change and a much quieter car. Eddie was also willing to work with me by making my payment over the phone and leaving my car for me to pick up after hours.
