I don't rate things much on yelp because I'm not usually that impressed and never feel so inclined to....until Dan at DTM! Everybody out there, including DTM should benefit! Dan explains everything and kept me updated to the point that his calls were irritating me (even though us BMW owners appreciate it deep down)! Have you ever had that? No where, ever! Had some issues with my mini making noise and shaking, so I did a yelp search and found DTM. Having been to the mini dealer in the past and taken for a ride, I was a little hesitant about what to expect. Well, my fears dissapated quickly when I met Kenny, who clearly was concerned about finding the problem and resolving it, while not trying to find a bunch of other stuff to charge me for as the dealer has done in the past. Just like how all the other reviews are saying, DAN IS FREAKING AWESOME. I don't write that many reviews but I felt compelled to give this place 5 stars because their customer service is just out of this world. My maintenance plan just expired and I was due for my 60,000 mile inspection and I needed new front brakes and rotors. I did some research and DTM Auto kept popping up as a well respected auto shop, so last month I decided to give it a shot. I don't know a lot about cars, but Dan was incredibly nice and helpful in explaining (and showing me) what needed to be done to my car and what options I had regarding the different types of brakes I could choose from. I had already previously called other auto shops to get an estimate of what it would cost and DTM Auto's prices are extremely reasonable (especially when you consider that New Century BMW gave me a quote that was almost double of what DTM charged me!). Since I was a new customer, Dan threw in the full inspection free of charge. Due to my work hours, I asked if I could leave my car overnight and have it picked up the next day, and they were totally cool about it. Dan even gave me a call an hour or so after I left to let me know that they finished the inspection and that nothing came up. When I came to pick up my car the next day, they helped me right away and there was little to no wait time. They gave me a cost breakdown of parts and service fees and it was exactly the amount that they quoted me. I also stopped by today because my engine oil level light turned on this morning and it was running low. Dan recognized me from last month and refilled my oil free of charge! I was in and out of there in literally two minutes. Dan is seriously the greatest! I think I have found my new permanent auto shop! Took my Mini Cooper to the guys at DTM to look at a check engine light, fix some small issues and get the oil changed. I was able to get an appointment when I wanted it and they had my car done the same day. To make things better, I got out for $150 which is simply impossible at a dealer -- it would be like the Sun circling the Earth. The guys who helped me, Eddie and Eric, were informative about my car and told me some basic things about maintaining the car that no one had ever said to me which is great. A quick preface: I detest getting my car fixed. I don't like the hassle; I don't like the information asymetry (the mechanic surely knows more than me); and I don't like the cost. As a result, I usually don't like to own cars past their warranty. That being said, I think I'll hold onto my 2005 MINI Cooper a bit longer now that I've found DTM. I found them after I was unable to get in elsewhere on same day notice when my power steering failed (a common problem with my model). They replaced the pump and had my car back to me in a few hours. I have always had excellent service at DTM. Handing my car over to techs with a TON of dealer experience makes me feel a lot better than going to any other shop. I have a 2010 Mini Cooper and just recently, my car started to "kick" specially when I would accelerate. I initially took my car to Mini of Monrovia who insisted that I needed a brand new transmission and that it would cost $11,000!!!! I have only 50,000 miles on my car and have been maintaining it regularly. I ended up taking my car to this location and spoke with Dan. Right off the bat, he was very informative, educated me and resolved the issues for a very nominal fee (barely $500!!!). He simply said my battery mainly needed to be registered and that overall, my car is in good condition. He also changed my brakes. I saved my self $11,000 by going to this place and I highly recommend everyone to try this place for any Mini and BMW issues. It was a very positive experience!!! read more

I took my Lowered, HPF Turbo Equipped 2003 BMW M3 here for fresh engine/transmission and differential oils. Dan was very accomodating and maneuvered my M3 over the front entrance way which I was hesitant to drive over; if my car made it over this bump any car will easily make it over...the techs were very friendly and also pointed out a concern with the color of my coolant which was attributed to the water wetter I had added in my system. They told me the standard BMW methods for fresh differential oil and were all extremely friendly car enthusiasts to boot...the street was ridden with great looking BMW's of all generations. Would not hesitate in a heart beat to take my car here again. Great prices to boot! read more

I've taken my car to a couple of other independent shops that serviced BMW/MINI, but it seemed as if I would always have to leave it overnight for one reason or another even for a basic oil service. I've even been told (at close of business) once that they just didn't get a chance to get to my car that I left at their shop the whole day. Not acceptable to me. So, when it came time for an oil service on my 82k mile 2005 R53, I jumped on yelp and found this place. It was only 10 minutes away. I called on Tuesday and set an appointment for 8:30am Thursday morning. When I pulled up to the shop, I was greeted by Dan and he got things rolling right away. No waiting. I told him I wanted an Inspection 1 and to check out some rattling I've been hearing from the rear suspension. I also asked to have the engine valve cover gasket checked, since there was oil residue all over the engine block. Dan gave me a quote, I handed over the keys, and went to work. I got a call around 11am from Dan. He told me that everything in the rear suspension was fine, but did find some worn out items in need of repairs (front lower control arm bushings, left axle cv boots, right engine mount, strut tower mounts, drive belt, valve cover gasket). I basically ended up spending more than I expected yesterday. All these items have not been replaced before, save the engine mount, valve cover gasket (both replaced once before under dealer warranty over 3 years ago), and drive belt (replace routinely). So, his findings weren't unreasonable with the symptoms my car had been experiencing. Dan gave me the run down of all the issues he found and gave the cost for each repair (very decent pricing, especially for the quality of service you get). He gave his recommendations on which repairs were absolutely necessary and which could wait. I felt that Dan was being completely honest an open about his opinions/recommendations. Something that anyone would value greatly in a person working on their car. Even with all the issues that were found, my car was finished by the end of the day. That was a big plus for me. If I had brought my car to the shops I previously went to, I wouldn't be able to pick it up until at least a day or two later. When I went back to pick up my car, Dan took the time to show me all the worn parts that he took out and the new parts that were installed. During the drive home, I listened for the rattling noises. They were gone! The suspension felt tight and responsive like new. Night and day difference. This was my first time servicing my MINI here, but it definitely won't be my last. I have been going to the guys at DTM for about three years. Dan and all those that work there are not only highly competent mechanics but really customer focused. A great combination. My 540i crossed 110k miles and I had not put much money into the car. A few oil leaks developed, the brakes were ready for replacement, a check engine light on and a few other items that needed to be fix.. I wasn't ready to repair everything at once so I spread the repairs over multiple visits to DTM. I would get some additional work done when I got the oil changed. I believe I got to know them rather well regarding their abilities and how they manage their business. I am very satisfied with their work and the costs. They really worked with me to get the car running well on my budget. They helped me prioritize the work to be done and I felt they kept my interests front and center. Today's visit compelled me to finally provide DTM the great review they deserve. My bill was a few hundred dollars LESS than what I was originally quoted. The work was great and the parts and labor turned out to be less than they originally thought they would be. How often does that happen for a car repair? They are fair, honest and reasonably priced. If it weren't for finding DTM I probably would be driving a new BMW. My bank account is much happier and my car is running great! read more

First of all, these guys are awesome.... honest and efficient! I have stopped into this facility initially 3 times : power steering fluid because my car was making a god awful, screeching sound and they put the fluid in within minutes and with no charge. Then I had them change a cigarette lighter fuse since my phone wouldn't charge-again no charge--- I even insisted on giving them a $20.00 & they still wouldn't accept my money. Since these guys had helped me out previously with out charging me, I felt compelled to give them my business. I can't remember what I took my car in for the first time, but again they didn't charge me. Then when I actually needed to get major work done on my car: brakes, oil change , valve replacement . They were very efficient and a lot of the work was covered on my third party warranty , which they coordinated with the party warranty company. I am so glad that I found honest mechanics here at DTM! Thanks so much for not taking advantage of a female, because I have dealt with other mechanics who are very shady. I will certainly be back because I know these guys are reliable,efficient and honest! read more

These guys are awesome! My headlamp on my BMW325i was out and I called to see if they could replace it. Dan took the call and was great. Brought the car in within 15 minutes of calling and Erik replaced the bulb in 10 minutes! And the price was amazingly inexpensive too! I'll definitely return for all my BMW services in the future. These guys are great, my Mini broke down 1/2 block from their shop and I'm from out of town. The were very busy but got me in to have a look. They spent at leas an hour checking it out and determined that I needed an alternator that had just been replaced in another shop and was under warentee so the did not actually work on it. They did spend an hour on it and did not charge me for their time. That kind of customer service will bring me back if I ever have a problem in Pasadena again. read more

I went to see Dan because I had a leak in the engine on my 6 year old BMW. At home, I have other several other cars and usually can do some minor repairs on my cars. But lately I do not have the time because of work. When I took it to Dan, I notice his shop is clean, organizied and his attention to detail is excellent. Because I have worked on my cars, I have some knowledge about repairs. Without saying anything, Dan took my car and put it on the lift to show me the problem it was having, which was great. Dan told me how much it would cost and the time it would take to finished. His cost was very fair and he completed the job earlier than he had mention. I am the kind of person who likes to keep my cars in great shape and look for a mechanic who is detailed. I found Dan's service to be honest, fair and straight forward and cheaper than a dealer. Simply the best. If you own a BMW, this is the only place you should be taking your car. Unless of course you enjoy being raped by your BMW dealer. I on the other hand prefer not to pay two to three times as much for my repairs. These guys are super honest, extremely reasonable, and the quality of the work is top notch. Their prices were consistently half as much or less than the dealership quoted me every time. Not to mention Dan is a very knowledgeable mechanic and an all around nice and decent guy. Everytime the warranty on my car expires I look for a good garage because I feel the dealership overcharges automatically, and think I have found it. Eric is an extremely honest man who walked me through all the work that needed to be done. Perhaps the biggest display of this honesty was when he referred me to the dealership, because it would be covered by an extended warranty on the emissions system. I have always taken my car to my local BMW dealer but after a couple experiences where it felt like all they where doing was pushing there unnecessary services that where not needed at that moment and wanting to charge me ridiculous rates. I knew it was time to start looking else where to get my BMW service but where? I didn't want to jeopardize the integrity of my car , I am so glad I found DTM Auto Salon. My change brake pads light came on for the back breaks but the actual pads still look like they had allot meat on the bone you can just tell with the naked eye. I wanted the dealer to checked them and they told me they would need to charge me just to get them checked , and to change pads the charges where going to be from $320 for the pads or $720 for pads and rotors. I when to DTM Auto Salon there cost sounded more reasonable all the reviews I red where positive took my car into DTM .They checked my brakes and also notice I had plenty of life in my pads , it was during Christmas time as well , I was wow they could of charge me just to checked them but they didn't,all I really needed was my get my brake sensor recalibrated. They save me a ton money during Christmas time. They told me what my next maintenance service was and when it needs to be done by and the cost , they told me , not trying to sell me. These guys are honest and great mechanics they just found another client in me. All future services on my BMW guess where I am going.Word of advice, call in advance these guys are busy all the times now I know why. read more
