hallelujah!!!!!! i was ready to sell my bmw after so many horrible experiences with beverly hills bmw. on my way home, a crazy light went on and i yelped the closest bmw repair shop and DTM showed up with plenty of great reviews. the reviews were well deserved!!! the light was simply a burnt out fog light. dan and eddie reassured me it wasn't a big deal and took care of it in minutes. dan proceeded to do a quick once over to see if there were any visible issues. he showed my how the bushing was worn out and was making my front tire bounce around. but also said dont worry it was not something that would hurt anything, NO PRESSURE to do anything. wow. i think i'm gonna keep my car since i found these guys. DTM Auto Salon is a great independant BMW mechanic. I found them on google while looking for a good BMW mechanic. I needed to get my brakes replaced but I was my M3 but I was tired of spending so much money at the dealerships on repairs. So I figured I'd try to save some money and find a good independant BMW mechanic. I have to say DTM Auto Salon was a lucky find! The owner Dan and his tech have extensive BMW dealership experience, great customer service, along with very good pricing for a BMW shop. I recommend DTM Auto Salon to anybody who needs their BMW fixed or just needs regular maintenance. From 1 series to 7 series or even minis, they have all the equipment to work on those cars just like a regular BMW dealership does. Two positive thumbs up! read more

Just came back from DTM auto salon and met with Dan in person for an opinion on my BMW. I spoke with Eddie yesterday and he was just as delightful. These guys know what they are doing, honest, and make you feel comfortable. I ran over a curb and need some work on the vehicle and was given an honest opinion on how I should proceed. I liked how they weighed out the pros and cons to my options. I'm just sad I didn't know about this place earlier before I got work done at the dealer. Although the work I need is more like an autobody work, I appreciate their honest opinion to help me make my decision. I also like how they didnt make me feel stupid even though I asked silly questions. I will definitely be back for service and refer all my friends here. Happy to know there are honest repair shops . Dan and his team are amazing. I've been taking my car to get serviced with them since my BMW extended warranty expired, for the last 7 years or so. They always provide a detailed summary of service that is truly required at the time, and quality work. They have never been pushy or tried to get me to spend more money on unnecessary work. They are very courteous and trustworthy, so I've stuck with them and will continue to do so if I decide to get another BMW. They are the best! read more

Nick Alexander Mini is a rip-off not just because their prices are high, but also because they lie about what needs to be repaired. For full details of my first experience with them, see my other review. My break light recently came on again, and I still hadn't found a good place to service my mini, so I was back at Nick Alexander. Same old story. My break pads *did* need to be replaced, but Nick Alexander as usual insists that you have to replace the rotors too, which is both costly and completely not true. They found a few other problems, and quoted me around $5k worth of "maintenance" work on my '07 mini, all because my break light was on. I asked for it in a written quote. By then it had jumped up to $6k. When I called to question the written quote, the advisor said of the new items, "Oh yeah, I just threw that stuff on there, but you don't actually need it." Honestly, scammy is coming out of their pores over there. They're scam-tastic and not even bashful about it. At this point I decided it was seriously time to find an honest shop that I could trust to do work on my car because I will never ever go back to Nick Alexander. Reading Yelp reviews, I narrowed it down to two places, DTM and one other (name is forgotten now). The other place was not open on Mondays, and DTM's over-the-phone quotes were totally reasonable, so DTM won by business. They impressed me in a lot of ways -- one of which being that they drove me to/from the Gold Line station since I was car-less -- but the most important reason they wowed me was this: DTM told me I did not need to replace my rotors because they were still within spec, so they replaced only the break pads. After I left, my car was making an awful squealing noise when breaking and a different one when not breaking. The squeak when breaking is common after replacing break pads, but a squeak when you're not breaking is no good. I brought the car back in and did a road test with them. They agreed they heard the noise and said they'd look into it. Turns out, my rotors were rather rusty because this car spent the first 3 years of its life in New England. I thought for sure they would tell me I had to replace the rotors after all, and I was prepared for it; they had given it their best shot and had tried to save me the expense. But no! Instead they buffed the rotors, removing all of the rust. I think it took them at least 1 or 2 hours to do that. When I drove off in the car, all of the squeaking was gone. The car drove great. And did I mention they did not charge me for that AT ALL? They also fixed a problem that Nick Alexander had missed, and did not charge me for labor because they were "already in there anyway" but only charged me the $50 or so for the part. When I picked up my car they showed me all the parts they had replaced and tried to educate me about these various car parts and how they break down (all in one ear out the other unfortunately). And last but not least, half of the items Nick Alexander said needed doing, DTM verified, but DTM said those issues were non-critical and I could safely ignore them for now, and probably for years. All told, my bill with DTM came to under $1500. This all happened months ago and I had been meaning to write this review for weeks. These guys really deserve it. 10 stars! read more

Excellent Service. I also can't recommend these guys enough. We knew our car was out of warranty - but unbeknownst to us there was an emissions warranty still in effect on our particular engine. Eric could have charged us for the work and we wouldn't have known any better. But because he told us and took the time to explain it and show us where it was stated in the manual we were able to save well over a thousand dollars. This place is fabulous- quick, trustworthy, they answer questions without making me feel like an idiot and they do good work. They were very helpful when I called in a panic from the side of the road. The first time I took my car in for an oil change, they checked my cars computer and just told me to go home (this is my first BMW and I didn't realize how many miles you can go between oil changes). In the past I've always called my dad to run repairs by him before letting anyone fix my car but I don't feel like I need to do that here. Very pleased! read more

Yesterday my BMW started running rough. Made an appointment at the dealership in Monrovia but when I asked them what could be wrong w/ the car and how long the repair may take, they couldn't answer and said the car had to be brought in to see. So I yelped BMW repairs in Pasadena, and found DTM Auto Salon. When I called late Monday night, Eric was so helpful and even ventured a guess at the cause of the problem. Brought the car in this morning, and it was fixed in less than 2 hours and Eric was right! The whole crew was very nice and they answered all my questions. I think I just found my new repair shop. Their 5 star rating on yelp is warranted. No more dealership shops for me! read more

I highly recommend DTM auto! I'm driving a 2003 BMW sedan so having a good mechanic/shop you can trust is critical. After having a really bad experience with the guys down the street, I used DTM twice. First time, they inspected my car, gave me a report and actually found nothing wrong. They said come back when you have "real" problems. Now that's service. Many months later, passenger window is getting ready to fail(horrible screeching noise when opening and closing) and a warning light on my headlights. Eric and the team tracked down the issues and fixed them as well as topped off the oil and tire pressure. I will go back again. They are nice group of guys and respectful. read more

I am a first time yelper and a happy one. Through Yelp I found DTM Auto Salon. We were spending the holidays in Pasadena when we noticed that my right side brake light was not working. Went to Yelp and was impressed by the reviews that this auto repair shop got. It was Dan himself that answered my call. He told me to bring my BMW X5 after I told him the problem. Eddie went to work and found that my bulb was okay but the socket was the problem. I offered to buy a replacement socket, but Eddie cleaned and tweaked the old socket and then the lights worked! He said since the light was fixed I do not have to buy a new socket now. I wanted to do business with them for the time they spent fixing my brake lights because they did not charge me. Since my X5 is out of warranty, I was so happy to discover them, for now I do not have to bring my car to the dealer, just to DTM Auto to get an honest shop with excellent customer service! read more

I can't thank Dan & Eric enough for helping me return my car to the dealer weeks after I bought a 325 CI "As is" at a small used car dealership. The "service engine soon" light came on about 20 miles after i left their lot. I called the dealer & of course they said there was nothing they can do since i bought the car "As is". I looked on Yelp & found DTM. Made an appointment for a diagnosis about a week later. On my way to DTM, the engine started to make a loud whistling noise. I was quite upset & nervous that I bought a lemon & it may cost me thousands to fix.. Dan was so kind & patient, listening to my story & told me not to worry, he will go through & inspect the entire car. I came back later that day and Dan told me that he found the leak & it would cost me ~ $1300 to fix, but his main concern was that there is a dot next to the odometer which is called a manipulation / tamper dot. It possibly meant that someone mess around with the odometer reader ( illegally??) & the mileage on the car may not be correct. Dan could have easily fixed the car for $1300 but instead he suggested I try to return the car since it had so many issues, especially with the Manipulation dot. With Dan's inspection report & Manipulation dot issue I was able to return the car to the dealer for a full refund. Thank you Dan for your honesty, expertise & your kind heart for informing me about the truth of the car. I greatly appreciate it! read more

Took my Mini Cooper here because of a rattling sound. They assured me it was the clutch: it needed to be replaced and doing so would fix the problem. Well over $2000.00 later they tell me it's fixed. When I pick my car up the SAME HORRIBLE RATTLING SOUND is still there. In fact the car runs, sounds, performs exactly like it had when I brought it in. I was told essentially too bad - but they would gladly put in a new transmission for me for another $7000-$8000. I would NEVER, EVER, go back to this place.Took the car to Mini Monrovia and the service manager diagnosed problem in about 1 minute and fixed it properly. Being female and not knowing much about cars, I felt better to go directly to the dealer with my problems. For 20 yrs I used New Century BMW without any problems never had any hard sales. 5 years ago I brought in my car, was told I needed 1 of my 4 oxygen sensor replaced, so I fixed the one and was told I should do all four because they would soon go out, a little over $1000 EACH!!! I said no and stared searching on Yelp for any future problem & I found DTM. So 6 months later check engine light comes on, I went to New Century who handed me a list of item wrong at a grand total of $6000, I said No, paid $150 for the prognoses, and took it to Dan at DTM who new me and my car because he was my old Service advisor from New Century. I was so excited to see that what had to be done only came to $1000 everything else on my original prognosis was never found. Its been 5 yrs and my oxygen sensors are still working. Dan is great, Eddie is Great & Eric is great...I highly recommend DTM Auto Salon. Best find ever read more

I visited Dan and his crew this morning. I was a long time customer at a neighboring BMW specialist on same street (take a guess...) who recommended that I change the high pressure power steering hose on my well maintained M3. Was told it was leaking badly and needed to be replaced immediately. They quoted over $700 for the job ($300 for part plus 3 hours for labor due to complexity of the replacement). Sounded steep. I called DTM on a whim and was quoted around $460 total for the replacement (original BMW part, not simply OEM and a little over an hour in labor). This sounded more reasonable so I made an appointment. Long story short, they called me back this afternoon and said there was no leak. That the hose was only seeping at the clamp and their recommendation was to keep in place and revisit at the next maintenance appt. When I went to pick-up the car this afternoon, Dan was kind enough put the car back on the lift to show me the so called leak in person. I was expecting to pay a little for the diagnosis given the trouble i put them through, but Dan didn't charge me a dime. So to sum up, these guys have way too much pride in what they do to stiff their customers like others. An honest BMW mechanic is hard to find, but I think I finally found one. Don't hesitate to give DTM a try! read more
