I have been meaning to write this review for so long, probably almost a year. Hands down, this was absolutely the best smog experience I've ever had. The service was amazing, incredibly friendly and quick. I called in to see if they had any availability, and said to just come on by. Of course, in the 5 minutes it took for me to drive over there, a couple other customers got there first haha, but all good I really didn't mind waiting a bit. I can't remember what I paid, but I know for sure it was the best deal compared to all the other smog check businesses that I called. Both my car and my wife's car have to be smogged every couple years due to their age, so we'll definitely be back here soon. Thank you so much! Truly the best 5-Stars all around. read more

Excellent + efficient service, in a comfortable environment and convenient location! I called this morning first thing to see if they could do the STAR Smog Test on my 2012 Nissan Juke before I went into work and they were able to accomodate - and I was in/out in 30 minutes. Owner Fred is kind and gracious. I'm glad I took my car here today and will continue to until I stop getting these notices! read more

Great experience! The service was friendly and efficient. I was in and out quickly with no wait, and was able to get everything done during my lunch break. I would definitely recommend them and will be back again. read more

Fast, friendly, and great prices too! Go here for all your smog needs. The owner also provided great advice on ensuring your car stays healthy and on the road for years to come. Plenty of parking and conveniently located off the freeway. I was in and out in 10 minutes! read more

I had a great experience here for my smog test. I was fortunate they had an opening when I called, which made scheduling really easy. When I arrived, there was hardly any wait, and I was seen almost immediately. The staff were professional, efficient, and courteous throughout the process. The price was very reasonable as well. It's conveniently located next to a gas station, which made the visit even more convenient. I would definitely come back again. read more

Fast, efficient smog check. Don't be bothered by other cars being there. Your smog check will be done quickly.

I needed to get a smog check & cert for my car, and I yelped places near me. Mission Smog came up with glowing reviews, so I thought I'd give it a go. It was so quick & easy! Fred was very nice & accommodating. He checked my car right away, and it took less than 20 mins! He also sends the results to the DMV. The rate is on point with the area. I highly recommend this spot! read more

A+ smooth easy friendly fast service! Straight forward smog check process. Bring your car in, hand over your paperwork to Fred and about 10 minutes later you're done! ... He also offers a free re-check if by chance you don't pass. Mine did thankfully but owning a bit older 2005 Honda Pilot I was a bit worried going in so appreciated that was an option just in case. ... Cost is competitive!! Sure you can probably find a cheaper place in LA if you search hard enough but at what cost savings? You going to drive to downtown LA to save $10? $15? Not worth it! Plus you can get $5 off if you pay cash! ... If you need a smog check, don't want to waste all day waiting and driving, want an A+ easy experience just come here! I will as long as I'm in the area! read more

I was looking all over the 90042 area for a place to get a smog check . Great service, fast and easy. I had a bad experience at another smog place and this was 180 degrees different. I'd highly recommend to anyone who needs a smog check. read more

Great service . Called on a Saturday morning and went in an hour later . I was out in 20 minutes .

The DMV sent me a letter saying my 2017 Hyundai Ioniq needed a smog test. I found MISSION SMOG on Google and since it was close enough to home, I went there. FREDDIE is the owner -- Freddie dropped what he was doing, drove my car in, tested it, and I was out the door in about six minutes flat. Go see Freddie because he will drop what he's doing and HELP YOU OUT! I cannot recommend Freddie and his business MISSION SMOG enough. If you're near South Pasadena and you need your car smogged, do yourself a favor -- go see FREDDIE!!! He's a heck of a nice man too. read more

The staff (Fred) can quickly accommodate folks for a smog check. Recommend. Just pull to the back of the station.

Recommend. In and out in 15 minutes. Good location. Mission and orange grove. Price I assume is normal (I think) $60. read more

Fred was a big help! I appreciate his advice and assistance.

I work long hours so their hours work for my schedule. I tried another shop before finding this one and the other place was closed well before their 5pm closing time. So I appreciate that I pulled up at almost 4:30 and he's still willing to perform the smog check. The other place told me to come earlier and give them at least 40 minutes. It took Fred less than 15 minutes to get it all done and I was out of there. 5 stars all day for quick service and being available when your customers need you. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I've gotten several smog checks around the neighborhood over the years and this was by far my best experience. Fred was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. My car initially FAILED (I had just installed a new battery, my own bad timing) but he told me exactly what I needed to do to reset everything. A few miles and errands later, came back the same day and all was good to go. Pricing was also great - and in my case, he retests for free! Thanks Fred, I'll be back for the next one. read more

Quick, convenient smog certificate...friendly service! And some interesting old cars to see there while you wait.

LOVE this family owned business. Their gas prices are the lowest in town and their mechanics are thorough and efficient. Can't go wrong here. read more

Excellent!! Timely, courteous and respectful. Service price was reasonable. Highly recommended!

Fred was so nice and helped me right away after dropping in. The wait was short and car passed, and Fred sent in the inspection information to the DMV so o didn't need to worry later. Great place! read more

I want to recommend Fred! If you read Joby's review, this was exactly my experience: Fail, follow recommendation, retest, all good to go. No hassle, no problems, friendly, helpful, courteous service! Great resource! Thanks Fred! read more

Small shop, efficient and well priced. Been going to Mission Smog for years, old cars and new cars, all passed.

The reviews are all true. Fred, the owner, couldn't be nicer. He said go ahead and leave the engine running, and he'd take care of it. Took a whole 12 minutes! He said remind him of the $10 coupon, and he'd subtract it. Fred automatically sends the test results to the DMV. I like that the smog test center is at the Arco station I always go to. Initially, my car didn't pass. What?? Fred asked whether I had recently gotten a new battery. Yes, I had, a few weeks prior. He said when the battery is disconnected, the syncing between the battery and the car's computer gets thrown off. So a car that's fine can fail the smog test -- due solely to the battery/computer needing to be reset. If your car fails as mine did initially, Fred offers a free retest within 30 days. Other smog test centers will charge you double. To reset the battery, Fred said to drive continuously on the freeway for 50-100 miles, and then come back for the retest. When I drove and went back, my car passed. Yay! I heartily recommend Fred and his smog test center. No more scrambling every two years with the DMV. I will come here. Thanks, Fred! read more

I brought in a BMW M4 convertible for a smog certification. Fred was very attentive and quick to serve me, even though there were other customers. Fred is very friendly and professional, and handles vehicles with care. I was probably there less than 30 minutes, and the price is super reasonable! I definitely recommend Mission Smog & I'll be taking all my vehicles to Mission Smog! Thank you Fred! read more

Everything I heard and read about this place, and the owner Fred, is true. Friendly, helpful, and great service. I needed to check the monitors before my car could be smogged, as I just had a repair done and the computer had to re-calibrate before testing. Fred did that quickly and cheerfully, and reported that everything looked good and it would pass. Twelve minutes later I drove out with the smog certificate in hand. His prices are great, his service exceptional! Highly Recommended! read more

I called in to get a star certified smog check per dmv request. The owner told me to go in with no appointment and I was in and out within 12 minutes. I even got a $10 off discount! Life is good! read more

Fred is awesome. Honest friendly man. My go to place for a smog check! I found this place a couple years ago. My vehicle didn't pass the smog check the first try. I took it to get serviced, then came back here. Sure enough the smog check passed and he didn't even charge me twice for the 2 tests. Cannot say enough good things about this place! read more

Love the service, got out in 15mins for the Smog Check Star Station and most importantly, the attitude. Very friendly and price is reasonable. Will definitely go again! read more

Easy in and out, friendly service. Happy to have this smog check place in my neighborhood.

Fred is so wonderful! He's super helpful and offers great service :-) I didn't realize having recent service on my car would make the smog test go wonky and he helpfully offered I needed to drive my car extra miles so it would reset for a good smog test. I'll have to go back after tomorrow's extra long drive, but that's okay! I love really good human beings and he's definitely one of them! read more

This is probably going to be my go to smog station from now on..not only did my sister and I receive great and prompt service but Fred communicates well to adjust to your schedule and needs and is open on Sundays! Mention $10 off and you can get it for $50 vs $60. Both my sister and I left satisfied customers. We were both done in less than 30 minutes. read more

Very helpful to get older cars to pass smog. AND offers "don't pass don't pay"...love that!

Super quick service and very knowledgeable. Handled my smog certification on my 1997 Ford F-150 without any problems. Pro Tip: Make sure and run you car for at least 20-30 mins ahead of time and have a full gas tank when you go in for your smog test to ensure a better chance at passing for older cars. Thank you Fred! I will be back again! read more
