Okay, this place has a lot, I mean a lot of potential, but right now they are not delivering and it may have something to do with their newness. The atmosphere is comfortable, the breakfast and lunch menu quite extensive, and even boast a fully stocked bar. Promising. The wait staff is extremely friendly and for the most part attentive, but the problem with "every waiter is your waiter" is that there is no dedication to a table and each waiter assumes someone else will take care of their table when that does not always happen. Perhaps take a lesson from Sweetwater Tavern, where the same ideology is in place but executed better because of the main dedicated servers to their tables but that other servers can/will address patrons if they happen to be walking by. The food was the most disappointing part of our experience. :/ The meal came out extremely slow and then when we got our food, it was hardly lukewarm, I had to ask the waitress to please warm my biscuits and gravy back up.... great flavors there but it was almost cold. Even my egg and flapjack were barely warm. The butter could barely melt on top and my over easy egg just fell apart. It was just a bit sad... I didn't even eat my single egg. Then there's the poorly named hash browns which were really thickly cut up potatoes with seasoning that again were practically cold. :/ My overall experience at this business was just like my food, lukewarm. From the greeting to the awkwardly wait in their tiny lobby to pay at the hostess stand like it's an IHOP. They even brought over he check before we were even finished, we weren't even offered the choice to try a dessert. The food is fantastic -- but the service? Needs some major work. I've been here twice: once on a weekend morning and once on a weekday morning. Both times happy with the food, but both times NOT so happy with how the service is handled here. The idea of everyone being your server is nice, but when put into practice, it doesn't really work. You'll say something to one of the servers but then it's their responsibility to carry it out when they've also got requests from 5 different other tables: it's a recipe for disaster. The need for Communication is doubled if not tripled by this method, and it is really hard for any restaurant to execute; hence, I don't find this method of service very practical. First time: 10-15 minute wait, no problem. A great waitress at the bar who chatted us up and told us about the brand and the menu. She kept on forgetting a few things, though, like the apple sauce bread at the beginning and my bacon that came with my dish. Didn't pay it no mind, it was fine, the food made up for it. Second time: 15-20 minute wait, no problem. Seated quickly and served quickly, great. When we wanted to give the check, though, I had to yell to a middle-aged Latina lady to get her attention to take our money (I don't like to yell). She took it and we waited another 10 minutes before I had to call out to her multiple times again to get her attention and ask about the status of our change. 3 minutes later the manager comes with our change but doesn't offer us anything even though she could clearly see our slightly annoyed faces. But DANG, she sure was quick to offer the couple next to us a 10% coupon for not putting cheese on their eggs......lol There's nothing like a good Southern breakfast with French toast, grits, and all the fixings. But the service here, yikes...I suggest they reorganize how they do things or really focus on how they can improve communication amongst the team. If I see an improvement in service, I might change this rating. But until then...a 3 it is! read more

The husband and I came for breakfast one weekend and only had a 15 minute wait. The first server that came to help us explained that all the servers wait on your table, not just one dedicated person. I wasn't sure if this would be a disaster or work ok, and it seemed to work fine throughout our meal. The menu was pretty diverse with omelets, burritos, pancakes and french toast. Their orange juice is freshly squeezed. I had the New York omelet which had bits of smoked salmon in it. It was pretty good, but could have been jazzed up with some red onion and capers like a new york bagel. Then it would have been excellent and not just eggs with smoked salmon. The husband had a breakfast burrito and really liked it. It wasn't too large and was just perfect. The one down side were the "hash browns". I love hash browns...crispy, fried, hot...my mouth was salivating in anticipation! Alas, what arrived were not hash browns. They were home fries. Big difference! Instead of crispy fried bits of potato, Toastery's version of hash browns are big chunks of potatoes seasoned in some odd smoky seasoning of maybe a BBQ or paprika mixture. Came here for breakfast with a client and the breakfast was actually really good--I give them a four stars for the Boursin cheese omelette, the home fries (although they call them hashbrowns) and toast were all solid performers. I ordered a chocolate chip pancake on the side and it took up the entire plate, for 3 bucks totally worth it. Oh, and they serve pure maple served up served hot! Major major YES YES kudos there! Elf would be proud. As many others have stated the "all servers are your servers" notice was gushingly shared with us upon being seated and in concept it sounds great, but in practice what this means is you will have four or five different girls coming by asking if you want coffee refilled no less than 15 times in the period of an hour, two different people asking if they can take your order when it's already been taken, and doing the food auction when there's only two people at the table. If you're going to offer a concept like this they need to communicate with each other. But let's be real, that's impossible. It's OK for the likes of the Golden Corrals of the world, but not this dinky space. I would much rather have one person take care of us who knows what's going on. This operational part of the restaurant is an absolute fail and I would never bring a client back here as I care not to be interrupted as often as we were. Tried the lobster roll special. Dunno why they split it in two rolls. Seemed like barely a tablespoon of bland lobster. Why offer such a deluxe dish if you can't afford to put enough food in the overwhelming bun? Also tried the meatloaf sandwich. This disappointing sandwich had processed cheese halfway melted on it. Tried the pasta salad side. I love al dente, but this pasta was practically crunchy. The best items were the potato salad and the hash browns. When we told the waitress how we felt, she offered no consolation, no manager. She did tell us to come back for breakfast, that it was better. We are huge breakfast fans and I can say with confidence that this place was the best breakfast we've had in all of Loudoun county!! It was AHmazing! Very few places serve real maple syrup, and the places that do it's hit or miss with the food. I am Canadian so I am HUGE on real maple syrup. I was ecstatic when they said they had real syrup because that meant I could order pancakes today! I got the raspberry walnut flapjack and it was absolutely thee best!!! My son got the kids pancakes and my husband ended up eating those because they were so good lol! The eggs were cooked perfectly and TASTED fresher than the eggs I have at home lol. Our food came out incredibly fast too. THAT fast and THAT fresh?? They just keep impressing me. Even the service was friendly from everyone; which is hard to do! The best part? I was super excited that a brunch place was opening in Ashburn. I finally had the opportunity to check it out and it was disappointing, to say the least. Their "every waiter is your waiter" concept seems efficient at first until we had to constantly wave someone down bc there's no one there to help you. Our first waitress was nice-she brought our drinks and took our order. She mentioned that they "make everything to order"... let's just say I highly doubt that.. Our food came out very quickly and everything was lukewarm and the flavors did absolutely nothing for me. Even my fob ass Asian mom said that everything was cold and IHOP was better. Breakfast burrito - soggy eggs, salsa, cheese in flour tortilla. Something I can make better at home. Lox breakfast sandwich on everything bagel - everything bagel looked like it came out of a Thomas's bagel package, also lukewarm and not crispy (no offense to Thomas), the lox was sketchy, too many capers/tomatoes. Overall plate did not look proportional or appetizing. Sausage gravy over biscuit - meh, little salty. MBS (mushroom, Swiss, bacon) omelette - cold, bland Side of bacon - cold, not crispy. Went to the Famous Toastery on Sunday. It was not too busy and the staff was attentive and helpful. Wife had a breakfast burrito and I had an omelette. Both of us came away with the opinion that the eggs were powered. They had zero flavor. Kids shared a French toast. I sample it and it was fairly good. I was surprised at how expensive it was. Omelette, burrito, and French toast were over $30 combined. We had 2 coffees and 1 Bloody Mary that was tasted great. Total bill was $43 not including tip. Wanted to love this place but felt the food fell very short of expectations. Maybe we will try again in a few months. read more

We are visiting for an MMA event from out of town and needed somewhere to eat breakfast on fight day. We found this place on yelp. Upon arriving, it's a cool little location. There was a 20 min wait and we are on a time schedule so opted to sit outside. They were accommodating in getting us a table cleaned ASAP. Our waitress was very friendly and the food came out promptly. Every thing was really good and the cornbread was awesome! Only complaint is after we got our food we weren't really checked on again. Eventually our waitress came out and got our empty plates and placed our bill on the table which we didn't even notice she did until about 10 mins later when we were waiting for her to come back with out checks. Once I realized it was on the table I saw she put it all on one, we had 5 people in our group and they needed to be split. I brought it inside and asked the hostess to tell our waitress we needed the check split diff ways and instead of checking how, she split them all completely. I let her know when she came back out to get payment though and I guess she combined me and my partners together instead of running my card twice which was good. Just a little inconvenient and wish she would have visited more after the food was delivered. Other than that, overall great experience and delicious food. read more

I've been here a handful of times. Today I came alone for the first time and tried something I have not had before from their menu. I've had huevos rancheros at other breakfast spots and this was truly a disappointing dish here. You can go to joes and pay less for what they offer with a side of bread at the very least. Not sure if it was because I was alone and they preferred to expedite my stay, but I wasn't offered any of the cornbread they normally bring out. I had passed on the option to take a seat at the bar and I wish I hadn't. More-so because I would have had consistent service. Also, they brought my order out with the receipt. Seriously? My biggest issue was the food; I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and the grilled chicken seemed undercooked and it was inedible. My friends enjoyed their meals but I could not say the same. Finally! A wonderful spot for brunch! Everything here is amazingly delicious! The flapjacks are amazing. I have had the Blueberry and the Banana Nut so far. The grits are buttery and rich tasting. The hash browns aren't real hash browns but better. They are delicious little breakfast potatoes with some amazing seasoning on them. The bacon is fresh and delicious and one time they even asked me if I like it more or less done... :) My only complaint is they aren't open past 3 PM unless it is for a fundraiser, but not a deal breaker for me. Visited here recently with a friend before he moved to Richmond. I had the biscuits and gravy with poached eggs on the side and a glass of sweet tea. The sweet tea was, as tasteless as I feel saying this, not sweet enough... (it's my only sugary vice, let me LIVE). The biscuits and gravy were definitely the highlight, however I asked for hollandaise sauce to be added to the poached eggs, and they somehow thought I wanted it on the biscuits and gravy... yikes. My friend was in a rush and it didn't affect the dish as much as I thought it would, so I didn't mention it, but definitely a bummer. The poached eggs were a bit overcooked as well, but that's so common at this point that unless I'm dropping major dollars I've accepted that it's just not a guarantee (a shame really). read more

This place is an odd duck, attempting to occupy a place between the classic "diner" and full on upscale breakfast. It works, kinda. Compared to a classic diner everything here is much higher quality, and much more expensive. From the fresh orange juice machine (fun to watch!) to the warm syrup to the lobster roll it's a good notch above the cheap everyday breakfast places that are all over the country (but largely missing from Ashburn). In some cases the upscaling is a bit comical, like the "country bene" (biscuits, ham, gravy plated like eggs benedict). In the actual "country" this plate would be laughed at, too small of a biscuit, not enough gravy. (For an example of it done right go to a Tudors Biscuit World.) But if you served real country worker breakfast here people would probably walk out with a tummy ache. The prices reflect the upscaling of the food, I've paid more for family breakfast here than we did for family dinner out the night before! Ouch! Compared to true upscale it misses the mark on the other end. The restaurant is not fancy. I'm skeptical that hollandaise was made in house, and if it was not shortly before the order was cooked, and the muffin appears to be an off the shelf variety given very little love and attention. (For an example of it done right check out Eggs Benedict at Balthazar in New York City, which is double the cost but has the best hollandaise you've ever had, on fresh in house made english muffins.) No one is going to mistake this place as a high end restaurant. So it exists in the middle. Too expensive for every day, not fancy enough to be special. The food is all very good. Perhaps not excellent in all cases, but very good. Service seems to have the kinks worked out for the most part. Ashburn is in desperate need of better breakfast options. What I will be curious to see is if they can build regular clientele, or if the price point will make it a one and done for too many people. read more

We came here for the first time on a Sunday, late morning. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table and ended up being offered a seat at the bar. We took it although I don't love sitting at a bar - especially for brunch. I thought it was interesting that they even had a bar! As a short person, I wish the bar had a foot rest - although it did have hooks for my purse - so extra points for that!!! Atmosphere was bustling and alive. That's a good thing. We were greeted right away and asked if this was our first time. Since it was, it was explained that everyone is a waiter or waitress for every table so anyone could help us. It was also explained that everything is made fresh and made to order so we could customize or substitute. They had a full menu - not just breakfast and everything is served all day. There was quite a bit to choose from and there were also some specials. They serve alcohol as well and many people were ordering mimosas and bloody mary's that looked delicious. There were other drinks on the menu as well - next time I may try one - but today I just had coffee and water. I must say the coffee was good. I ordered a dish from the specials of the day - crepes - - almond and peach, which came with one egg and a choice of meat. I substituted my meat for a side of fruit. The crepes were delicious. Filled with a sweet cream, light peaches and slivered almonds. Fruit was fresh and egg was perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the stuffed french toast (strawberries and cream cheese) with country ham. Delicious as well. There were so many delicious items we wanted to try. We rolled out very full and anxious to come back to try something different next time. If we come for breakfast again, we will definitely call ahead. We will be back though. You should come too! We asked Famous Toastery to cater a 75-person breakfast the morning after our wedding, and loved the result! Heading into our event, Angela helped us trim costs by ordering the right amount of food, showing that she was mindful of our budget. She arrived on time and set up efficiently, making the most of the limited counter space we had. Most importantly, everything we ordered was delicious! The quiche was a huge hit, as was the french toast and fruit, and the coffee was really good. We absolutely recommend Famous Toastery for large catered breakfasts like ours. read more
