    Falafel Wrap (IG: hangryforwhat)

The food is fresh and made to order so it comes out steaming hot! I highly recommend the pocket pita with falafel. The pita is so pillowy soft and the falafel is nice and crispy. The Chicken shawarma rice bowl is also delicious. There's lots of vegan/vegetarian options here. Service is so friendly and everyone here is super sweet! They also have a cozy space that is dog-friendly. Definitely worth a visit!

Overall, this was place good. If I come back here, I would try something other than the gyro! It wasn't bad, but I'd be interested in trying their other option. Rice / plate was definitely the winner (over the Pita sandwich). Service was good! Friendly staff! Small dining establishment. Parking was pretty easy on a Sunday afternoon.

We lived in this neighborhood for over a decade, and apparently, this restaurant has been here for almost the same amount of time. We kept saying we need to check it out! For some reason, we never did until today, and oh how we regret not coming here sooner! It was a Saturday afternoon. There were 2 occupied tables and plenty of other vacant ones for us to select from (by the time we left, all tables were taken). We were greeted immediately by a super friendly server. We took a couple minutes to figure out what we're getting and how to order. We finally decided on 1 pita pocket with gyro meat & 1 Falafel salad. For both, we selected the purple slaw/sauce. We also ordered their garlic fries (extra crispy) & a mint lemonade. We selected seats facing out the window, looking out towards the busy California Ave street. Within a few minutes, our drink came out with our beef gyro pita and Falafel salad. Just looking at the beautiful colors of the salad made me happy. After taking a bite of it made my taste buds even happier! Then I looked at the beef gyro pita. At 1st glance, it looked plain bc all you can see if the meat, feta & garlic sauce oozing out of the white bread. However, once I took my 1st bite, I had to remind myself, do not judge a book by its cover. It was delicious! The pita was filled with different layers of meat, cheese, sauce, & slaw. The combination of all we're perfection! Then came the garlic fries. It looked as amazing as it tasted. Even with the garlic sauce and feta cheese drizzled on top, the fries were still crispy. I could not stop eating it. They were dangerous! It's definitely worth all the calories! Oh, almost for about the lemonade! With the food being so savory, the mint lemonade was the perfect touch. It complimented everything we ordered very well. 5 Stars Overall!! Experience, food, and service were all exceptional! I can't wait to go back!

We stopped in here one hot afternoon for a quick snack. We shared a pocket pita with gyro, which was more than enough for both. The pita was filled with gyro, veggies, and more gyro. I think we got it red spicy, which was a bit too much for my husband, but perfect for me. Service was friendly and the space was casual and dated, but overall OK. I'd stop in and try it again!

Quick and easy place to grab lunch or dinner! The food came out really soon. Lamb Gyro Bowl ($14.25) - Solid bowl. Side of Chicken Shawarma ($4) - Was a bit dry but flavor was there. Garlic Fries ($5) - Best $5 you could spend. Huge portion. Loved the garlic aioli and feta!

Strange experience. I can't say it was negative, but... First of all, what they're serving isn't pita! It's a bun. So after a couple of minutes, it turns into a soggy bun. I approached and asked why my shawarma looks like a burger with lettuce and big pieces of chicken in a cold bun. But I was told it's pita; you can see in the picture what they called pita. It's a completely different kind of bread. I also have culinary experience, so I felt somewhat deceived. When I placed my order, I asked for "extra juicy", "extra crispy". When they took the order, they silently agreed, but then it turned out they couldn't do it. Although, it seems like putting that bun on the grill shouldn't be difficult. Anyway, the sauces are tasty, the lettuce is fresh, I even bought jars of pickles. But please, don't deceive people and don't call this strange bun - pita. It's not fair. I'd like to add that I bought 3 jars of pickles. Almost $20 worth. The employee put them in a thin paper bag, which tore after a minute. Maybe you should instruct your staff to initially pack the jars in sturdy bags? I nearly broke them.

Just moved to the area and was looking for a healthy option for lunch and I must say this place was perfect. Sometimes you crave a fresh crisp salad and the one I ordered did not disappoint. My usually picky child loved her kids plate. And my husband's pita looked delicious as well. We will be returning soon.

Good place for a fantastic house made Pita. They are different in a very good way from your normal pita. The Falafel are crispy flavorful and excellent. The Lamb Gyro meat is spot on and purple cabbage slaw is cooling and crunchy. Be careful when ordering the spice level! Just ask for it on the side the green spice is pretty hot, a lot like Ethiopian spice.

Update: still kicking dolmas & taking names, Falafel Salam takes the whole cliché falafel/gyro stand concept and gives it an artisan bump, with soft, pillowy pita bread, house-made preserves, maybe the juiciest, spiciest gyro meat I've ever tasted (and I've had a few. Hundred.), and an offering of delicious beverages (tea and juice drinks, ciders and beers) that compliment their food. Don't hesitate-get "The Hesitator" ($14). That's the name of their sample platter of gyro meat, shawarma chicken, dolmas, falafel, hummus, a sampling of their house-made pickles (which they sell retail, btw), their wonderful, creamy/tangy red slaw, and a Mediterranean salad. Oh: and don't you dare miss their don't-miss, famous puffy pita bread, to mop the tahini sauce. Awesome! And unmissable. :) Feel free to yell, "Puffy Pitas!" in appreciation. We did. I highly recommend a side of the green hot sauce (more of an herbed chili paste, really) and if you're really hungry, a side of Greek fries with cardamom catsup. Ooo, and if you're drinking, wash down this colorful flavor-fest with a Turkish coffee stout. It's not as overwhelming as it sounds, with a smooth, malty body and dark chocolate bitter finish that seems to sweeten the food and bring out the savory flavors. If you're not drinking....well, first off I recommend taking it up, on principle. But: they also have yummy tea concoctions and fruity inventions to tickle your fancy. Get in here before they get bought out by Subway or something. Remember people, our fate is in your hands! Will we become a big, ugly Californian strip mall that used to be a neat, funky place called Seattle, or do we support our local originals, and vote with our money for our neighborhood entrepreneurs? Resist. Don't eat corporate "food". It's not just not good for you; it's not good for your town. Missing star for some poorly washed silverware and slightly awkward, forgetful (though friendly) service. But dang close to perfect, especially on the plate. Eat here. It's noms. Recommended!

    Awesome

I was in west seattle & decided to go here, because I'm super busy & this had closest distance with vegan food. Also, I remember the green sauce I had when they came over to E side with food truck. Staffs were very attentive. Dining room were kept very clean & simple & I loved all the plants. Here are my suggestions to owner. 1. Salad: put lettuce first & top with heavy stuff on top, because it was kinda hard to get carrots & cucumbers out. Also it lacked herbs. Could use more cilantro & parsley. I took it home and made bigger salad with more herbs & lettuce & cucumber. 2. Pita bread. Texture is like cake. It need to have more chewier texture and it should be toasted to brown. This was more like cake like & too soft! I have never had this soft pita bread. Maybe it's Jordanian bread? I don't know. 3. Their infamous green sauce was too spicy and lacked cilantro taste. 4. Garlic fries: please have a vegan option w/o feta and no egg in sauce. Crushed garlic in olive oil on top of fries is my suggestion. Did owner change hands last several years or recipe change? Food was good, but different than my memory. Anyways, hope someone reads my input.

Great service. Fantastic fresh pita. Seriously, I would go there for the pita along. The rest of the food was also great.

This is a lively place, always filled with a lot of upscale looking customers. So the atmosphere is quite loud, but fun in a buzzing way. We were seated quickly, as we had reservations. Our server Charlie, was engaging, friendly and on top of things. We ordered the shared dips---olive tapenade, eggplant, hummus, tatziki with some warm pita triangles. They're all good and a fun way to start the dinner. We each had kebabs---lamb, chicken and mushroom. All good, moist and tender all poured with a jig of ouzo on a hot skillet. The onions in the bottom get browned and crusty, so good to eat. One had a lamb burger which looked juicy and served with delicious mound of fries sprinkled with rosemary. Food here has always been awesome. Skipped dessert as we had homemade cookies to eat at our next stop.

However after we expressed that we didn't want to wait that long, we were told that if we wanted outdoor seating they could actually seat us in less than half an hour. We chose the outdoor seating option and took a quick stroll in the quiet neighborhood before coming back. Our server told us that Homer's plates are meant to be family style and shared so their general recommendation is 1 large plate or 2 small plates per person. For us, we ordered the Set of top 3 spreads, lamb ragu on tahini and we were served with 5 pieces of warm pita. We also ordered Grilled Pork with Stinging nettles, raw albacore tuna with taramasalata, and smoked and shaved kohlrabi. Our server warned us that the pork was going to be on the fatty side but we were still surprised by how fatty it was. The spreads for the pita were amazing as usual-- their seasonal flavors taste amazingly fresh. Our table wanted to order more pita and when someone came by to take the empty plate they asked if we wanted more which we did let them know but even by the time we finished all the plates, we never got the additional pita so we just took it off. The Kohlrabi was an amazingly refreshing palette cleanser before the pork-- super light and refreshing. After we finished our meal we grabbed some soft serve from the window and wow, for 7$ it's quite a lot of ice cream! The flavors that were offered when we were there was Dark Chocolate and Kettlekorn. I sampled the swirl and the fusion of the saltiness of the kettle korn, the slight bitter and sweetness of the dark chocolate was immaculate. Final thoughts: very cool experience, inside I could see the open kitchen and the stone wood fired oven and the ingredients tasted amazing. However it is a little inconvenient that it's walk in unless you're a party of 6 since the lines and wait can get incredibly long. It's also difficult to find parking in the area. Very neat experience!

We went on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasn't too busy at the takeout window. The restaurant is only takeout - there are benches right next to the takeout window, but there are only enough spots for 8 - 12 people (2-3 people per bench). The only other seating is at the nearby street seating offered by the neighboring bars, which I can see being restricted during peak hours. Parking can be very difficult if you plan on driving, there is only street side parking that is usually full, and nearby paid parking in lots. Service is fast, after we got our order, we only waited 5-8 minutes for our food. We got their recommended Soujouk (Beef) and Cheese Wrap for $16. The wrap is long, I would say about 13 - 14 inches long, and I can definitely seeing most people getting full after enjoying one of these. The flavors are nice and you can taste the spices from the sausage - I could taste cinnamon front and center with other earthy spices lingering in an aftertaste. The wrap is very decadent, the cheese is hearty and indulgent and that with the spiced sausage and textural difference with the cucumbers is pleasing. Do note with how indulgent this wrap is, you will accumulate a ton of oil in your wrapper as you enjoy it - a nap afterwards is in your future if you eat a whole wrap! I think that Yalla Seattle is a good stop to try these cuisines in a casual manner and the price is reasonable. There are some other items on the menu that kept my attention and I would totally revisit to try the other items offered by this restaurant.

Yalla is a walk up window, and there are just a couple of benches right outside where you can eat, and according to other reviews you can also go to Montana Bar next door with your food. The menu is posted in a couple places right next to the ordering window, and it's pretty easy to parse. Almost everything there is what I'd consider a "portable food", meaning something you don't need a plate, fork, and knife to eat, which makes sense given that it's not a sit down restaurant. They have veggie saj, meaty saj, mezze, a few sides, and a dessert. I really like their concise menu. We tried the baba ghanoush ($9.5), which comes with saj on the side, a batinjan and labneh saj wrap ($12), and a halloumi grilled cheese (halloumi grilled inside saj, $13). As you can tell, the saj underpins everything at Yalla, and their saj is excellent. Warm, soft, flaky, and tearable, it is perfect for both dipping and wrapping and grilling. The batinjan and labneh wrap is bursting (literally) with tender grilled eggplant, a rich sauce, and tangy, creamy labneh. It is truly one of the most delicious eggplant dishes I've ever had. The halloumi grilled cheese definitely hits the spot, and is more filling than you think by looking at it. Baba ghanoush is so smooth and flavorful, and I love the pomegranate seeds on top! The folks who work there are super nice, very friendly, and food comes out quickly. Prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to try some of their meaty saj! This place is going into my regular rotation, for sure.
