I went to see if I've left a review for this local unassuming gem of a restaurant and was shocked to see I somehow hadn't. I'm glad they've survived peak pandemic as it is a fixture of this community. Hands down my fav Chicken Shawarma plate in the city. The chicken itself is a flavor ride but what really makes it a home run is the soft flavorful rice. It's enough for two meals but it's so hard to hold myself back. I've eaten in, take out, and had it delivered - always excellent presentation and portion (but I swear when I go in person to eat or pick up they offer me a small cup of lentil soup while I wait.) Not into meat? Do not miss out on their falafel- also fantastically fresh and crunchy- they even offer it as a burger which I recommend. read more

This place was great! I tried the veggie appetizer plate and a spiced Somalian tea (similar to chai and really delicious!). Much to my chagrin my daughter got chicken nuggets and fries and they were good as well. She also liked the smoothie. Prices were really reasonable, restaurant was simple and clean, and we were offered some delicious lentil soup while we waited. Our server was very helpful. I went here for the plate of nations special. Banana grills has been participating for over 10 years. The Service is really nice. The ambience feels very neighborhood, with teenagers and families from the area. They offer lentil soup you can tell everything is made fresh. I particularly love the hummus and the pita bread. I know I rate a lot of things 5 stars, but this place REALLY, REALLY, REALLY deserves it. After a hospital stay, the last thing I felt like doing was cooking. Bananas Grill doesn't do their own delivery, so Postmates it is. When a third party does the delivery, it's often cold and a mess, but NOT AT BANANAS GRILL. They do not stand for that nonsense! Not only was my food hot/warm, but each item that might possibly get gross packed together (tzatziki, feta, falafel, pita) was wrapped up so it was not soggy, wet, or messy. I have never in my life seen food wrapped as carefully and mindfully as Bananas packs it. They also included plenty of napkins and a set of silverware. Who runs this place? Cher? Jesus? Nothing would surprise me at this point. Please notice I haven't even gotten to the food yet. AND THE FOOD IS DIVINE. Like over the top, from portions to pricing, it's all good. We got the Bananas combo, baklava, samboosa, and Greek salad. The combo came with 2 chicken skewers, chicken, rice, gyro meat, 2 dolma, 2 falafel, hummus, 4 pita triangles, a little salad of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes. It's also only 20. There were 2 tzatziki and one honey mustard. Possibly the best dolma I've ever had. The rice was delicious, both types of chicken were moist and tasty, and I hear the gyro meat was good. My 3 yo seemed to like it, too. The hummus was smooth and came with an olive. Pita was warm, soft, and delicious. Falafel was perfectly crisp and tasty. I cannot wait to try more on their menu, or even just order when I want an actual hot meal prepared with care. read more

I was running some errands in the area and decided to pick up lunch from here and I'm so glad I did. I called in for a pickup of a gyro plate about ten minutes ahead of time and by the time I walked in, the order was ready. And the owner is such a nice man! Everything was really really really tasty. The salad was refreshing. The lamb and beef gyro meat was delicious. The rice was delicious. The hummus was delicious. I'm absolutely going back to try the rest of the menu - the falafel looks good too and there's something called Somali spiced tea that I'm very curious about. Great tasting food and friendly service! We ordered the Plate of Nations platter for $33. The cashier was very friendly and offered us water cups and complimentary lentil soup. The piping hot lentil soup was served with some seasoning on top. Very delicious! Next we received the appetizers including pita, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, and very light and fluffy falafel! Amazing! After that, we received the salads and main platter. The salads were not unusual, but the main platter was quite impressive. A fillet of perfectly seasoned fish was served over a generous bed of well seasoned rice. Chicken shawarma and gyros meat filled out the sides of the plate. A little cup of sauce was provided, and we loved it. The kitchen was hopping and service was friendly and welcoming. Although we ordered at the counter, each item was delivered to our table with a smile. read more

Did I order the wrong thing? Bananas Grill was a miss for me. $13 for a measly little gyro and a side of "Greek Fries" - Oily French fries with some feta and seasoning. I thought the beef and lamb gyro was very bland and dull. The picture of the chicken shawarma gyro looks a lot better and seems like a more bountiful portion. I ordered this place from a delivery food app and enjoyed the food a lot. This business is a black-owned business that is owned by a Seattle local. Their food is on the cheaper side as far as pricing and you get a good amount of food for what you pay. When I ordered from here, I got the chicken wings, chicken shawarma sandwich, and falafel. My favorite was the chicken shawarma sandwich, it had a lot of flavor and was super filling. Overall, I would eat here again when I'm in the mood for Mediterranean-type food. read more

Okay... just okay... I was pretty disappointed after reading all of the great reviews! I ordered the beef/lamb gyro sandwich and it had 3 pieces of meat in it, barely any tzaziki sauce, barely any lettuce and it didn't have cucumbers or anything. The fries were good but the portion was extremely small, $12 for a lunch combo was a rip off. My friend is vegetarian she wanted the pita bread with the fries inside of it instead of the meat they told her they can't do that and charged it up as the lunch combo also. The establishment was clean, easy to find, limited parking. The cashier wasn't very friendly either. If you want a small snack this place may be good but not for lunch or dinner meals. They had more items on the menu the Hawaiian burger looked good so maybe they have some better choices. The portions are just a bit ridiculous. read more

Placed a large catering order for a group of over 30 people and everything went well on the day of. Delivery was great, despite our difficult-to-find location. Food was packaged such that everything was warm. They didn't give us utensils or napkins, but I also didn't [forgot to] ask. They have excellently creamy tahini-heavy hummus, which is the way I like it. People who like more lemony/chickpea-y hummus may find it less to their liking. Fries are kind of blah, but the dolmas are solid and the rice is great. Everyone liked the gyro meat and the falafel was good too. I didn't try any chicken, so I can't comment on it, but there was no complaints! The baklava was on the sweet side and didn't seem to have any pistachios, but it's their take on a dessert and it's solid. I appreciate that they individually wrapped every piece. read more

Literally the best halal food in all of Seattle--I'm ready to fight anyone on this. My fiancé and I used to get food here about 3 times a week, but we had to pull back and order only every Friday. Now, Fridays are my favorite part of the week. The food is amazing. I always get the falafel sandwich, and it is so savory, tasty, and (what I love most) it's simple! Other falafel sandwiches from other places always like to add extra stuff that is NOT needed. This place doesn't. They add light shredded lettuce, some sauce, two halves of a slice of tomato, and three falafels aka, the perfect sandwich. Their hot sauce and white sauce is really, really good, and they're really generous. We have only been ordering with delivery, but they package everything so well that now we only order Halal food from Bananas Grill. My fiancé also feels the same way. The food is plentiful and tasty for the price. He swears by their hot wings and falafel burger. The hot wings are so spicy and they use a dry rub so the skin is crispy. The falafel burger tasted like meat! The falafel piece was larger than the bun so they made sure you got falafel in every bite. They definitely don't skimp on quality, taste, or quality. I definitely recommend Bananas Grill. They are just as good as the authenticate Halal food in New York from the carts. I have been to Falafel King in downtown, and you can rest assured that IT IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. 0/10 do not recommend. If you're looking for exceptional Halal food, Bananas Grill is it. Anyone who recommends Falafel King over Bananas Grill doesn't know food. Haha. read more

This Somali-family owned, Mediterranean restaurant is as good as it gets! The menu offers very simple, yet delicious halal meals. This is perfect for making your decision easier. From wraps of kebabs, chicken shawarma, to entrees and very rich appetizers it really varies. I recommend the Chicken Shawarma and the hummus Pita Bread appetizer. it comes with 2 hot and fresh falafels and these insanely delicious wraps! The price is very to my convenient also. Nothing expensive and the portion hits home. The environment is cozy, children friendly (there's a park right outside), and clean! The service is very good too!! even when working under fire or understaffed, this family will have your meal brought to you in no time! I recommend you hit this place up if you are ever around the area, looking for something both ethnic and comfort! Guess what, IT COMES WITH THE MEAL! Everyone knows I'm a sucker for some free bread. But don't let these Lebanese pillows fill you up, the dip marathon has just begun. The menu here is unlike anything I've ever seen. You can get lost trying to figure out what to order for lunch, so I would advise consulting the waitstaff for guidance through this delightful maze. I just looked on their menu to figure out what the fries that I ate were called, and I can't find them for the life of me. But they had their own incredible dip completely covering them. At one point we had 4 different dips on the table, and I'm not sure how they got there. 1) The dip on the fries 2) Spicy hummus (not that spicy, incredibly tasty) 3) Za'tar that comes with the pita 4) Yogurt sauce that came with the Kabob combo Everything comes with something else here. I highly recommend the combo for two to three people as you get a variety of different appetizers and all of the main kabobs. However, a couple of things that really made this experience mediocre. First, the meat was overcooked even though I asked for medium rare. Most of the meat came out medium well. The rice was undercooked and hard when you bit into it. The server could have been more attentive.. didn't come back to check on us, even though the restaurant wasn't super busy. The biggest disappointment is that this establishment passes on a 5% fee to help pay for their staff's benefits. They stay it's optional and they can take it off but it's very distasteful. The owner should reconsider this and build this expense into the pricing of their menu. Otherwise their wait staff is going to feel slighted when customers leave less tip because of this additional fee. We ordered a couple of truffle mushroom smash burgers and a spicy lover's smash burger, and every single one was fantastic. They delivered exactly what you want from a smash burger: juicy patties with perfectly crispy, caramelized edges, all tucked into soft, toasty brioche buns. The buns were a standout - they held everything together beautifully and soaked up the juices without getting soggy. The fries were crisp and satisfying, rounding out the meal nicely. This is definitely a spot we'll be adding to our regular rotation.

First, I'd like to start by saying, there was nothing wrong with my time or food here at K-street…read moreK-BBQ. We ordered the brisket and kings ribs. I can say the meat looked like high quality and tasted great! The only reason I'm giving it a 4/5 is because I personally wasn't a huge fan of the banchan (side dishes) that were offered. There was salad, that had like the full bottom parts of lettuce in it, there was onions in some kind of sauce, kimchi, just not a lot of things I personally like to eat. I would say their banchan definitely leans more towards Asian clientel, so if you go with someone who is a picky eater or not super familiar with asian/korean food, then just be aware of that I'd say. Overall though, I would say come here for the high quality meat! The service was good, but personally, I just won't be returning. We opted for the small mix combo which had the prime ribeye, beef brisket, king prime short ribs, la seasoned ribs, beef tail flap, pork belly, pork jowl, pork shoulder, and seasoned boneless short ribs. We also ordered a bottle of soju to share. The meats were beautifully presented. They also served an array of banchans including onion salad and lettuce. Service was amazing. Our server always checked in and offered to change our grill pan. Pricing was on par for the meat quality and amount that came with our order. We even ended up with a couple to-go boxes. This place allows online ordering via InKind so I used some of the credits to order some food to-go. It takes about 10 minutes, fairly standard. I got the make your own which is the preferred choice as the make your own is the same price as the other single choice plates, with the exception of salmon. So I got the Bang Bang chicken and teriyaki chicken half and half, with sesame noodles and gyoza ($1.50 extra) for the sides, which is good value as sesame noodles side was $9 versus other sides at $3-5 range. Portions are large. But you are eating a lot of salt. Sesame noodles are overly salty. The teriyaki chicken is salty. Bang Bang chicken is very salty. The rice helps a bit, but there is no relief to the amount of salt they used. Also, prices are very high. This order was $23.50 approximately, which is far above the average takeout plate in Seattle. If you like variety and customizations, this place is viable, but there are better places out there.

I stopped by lately for some lunch. The daily special was a falafel burger with chips - got that... and a frickin' great chai tea! After I purchased and sat down to wait, he got a chai tea sample for me to attempt; I did not ask about it... and it was a great 8-12 ounces, also! Attempt their own in house chai! It comes in a clean, material dixie cup (pros: comfy and pleasant, disadvantages: likely not recycle-friendly). The food special was a great value and good. I will be back to try their other things and the owner is extremely friendly with a widescreen grin. The toilet is a renter-shared down the hall. read more

Placed an online order to go: Greek fries and a side of gyro meat to throw on top, since sandwiches and bowls are $13-$16! Insane. I saw the bowls, they're not large. Not a great deal by any stretch, but that's lunch hour in Seattle I guess. The fries were soggy, barely any feta on top, and the "gyro" meat is just freakin' weird. It tastes like lamb meatballs. Not at all what I expected. On top of this, my order was not ready and I ended up waiting 15 minutes. Three people in line in front of me and three behind, but just one guy behind the counter taking and prepping orders, tickets popping out of the machine left and right until he cried uncle for some help. "Wow it got busy fast, went from no orders to backed up!" Yeah dude, it's 12:15. People get off at 12, call it in, take a piss and start walking to the restaurant, just like every lunch rush every day in a busy commercial core. I also dislike having to wait in line for a pickup order. I'm in a hurry. If you can't accommodate, I can go somewhere else. Just leave my order out! I did grab a jar of grilled preserved lemons to take home. Not sure what to use them for but they look delicious. All in all, not great, again.

The meal came with 3 large pieces of homemade boat-shaped pita, 3 sides of hummus, and 2 side salads (as well as the entrée sized salad with the falafel), and 2 sides of spiced rice. Note: I told them I had an egg allergy so I don't know if anything was modified in my order from the standard menu. While flavors were excellent, the meats were quite dry overall, with the worst being the beef schawarma in the sandwich which was irredeemably dry. Like, maybe a few days old and re-fried kind of dry. No amount of sauce or douses of extra olive oil could save the dehydrated, jerky-like beef chips that lay shriveled amongst a bed of gorgeous fresh veggies and delicious homemade pita. It was depressing to eat. Their talents seem to shine best in the dinner plates, so I will only order from that menu going forward and just forget the sandwiches. I was also very impressed with their falafel and thought this dish was the standout star of the grouping. Each oily little falafel donut was perfeftly crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside with good seasoning, and the cheese on the salad with it was a nice touch.
