Serious security concerns, poor response, and unacceptable rate hikes. I rented a unit at this Extra Space location for $85/month. It's now ballooned to $217/month, and despite the price hike, the facility offers zero peace of mind. My unit was broken into, the thieves cut through the chicken wire ceiling, popped off my lock, and went through all of my belongings, selectively stealing several items while leaving others behind. When I reported that my lock wasn't working, the manager suspiciously already seemed to know exactly how it happened, including how the wiring was cut and the lock was removed. Instead of expressing urgency or concern, I was told there was "nothing he could do" unless I contacted a district manager. He offered no credit, no compensation, no apology--just told me to move my stuff to a different unit (as if that guarantees anything). Even worse, I've witnessed homeless individuals living out of units, and hallways that reek of human activity, not storage use. When I asked about this, the manager admitted they were aware of how people break in through the ceilings, yet no cameras are positioned to monitor the exposed wire areas where the break-ins occur. So they know how it's happening, and still choose not to prevent it? They advertise "security" and "peace of mind," but that's completely false. This place is shady, lacks basic protections, and seems more interested in raising rent than protecting customers. This isn't just mismanagement, it feels negligent, possibly complicit. Avoid this place. You're paying premium rates for a security system that doesn't work, staff that offer no real help, and a facility that enables theft more than it prevents it. read more

The absolute worst storage experience. The place is not maintained properly and we were extremely impacted when the building flooded 3 days after our move in. It was unacceptable and they only send a general email out saying we might be affected. Well, we were and inches of water was inside our unit. They didn't let us touch a thing and made us wait days until they had availability to move us to another unit. The movers were beyond unprofessional and damaged more things (all of our stuff was packed so well and they just threw things around and scratched up our expensive stuff). It took weeks and weeks for our inventory and later we realized they stole expensive stuff from us like a fancy coffee maker! After all we went through, this was horrific. The pregnant female manager gave us nothing but attitude and shouldn't be in charge. They should have been more accommodating and accountable. All they said was contact your renters insurance. It's still their responsibility to maintain a clean and proper building and should be shut down for their inability. I'm still shocked more people didn't review after that. Do not rent here or store your valuables if you care about them! read more

We weren't sure about getting storage at this location but it has worked out well, especially because of Angel in the office. We are moving into this facility after our current facility jacked up prices by 35% (+ $100/mo). I actually really love that they redeveloped the old Sears space for this facility. Honestly it's an ingenious use of the space in what is an otherwise ghost town of a mall. We were able to use a 1st month free promotion & reserved our space online to get a 10x20 at a great rate. I highly recommend checking their online prices rather than walking in without being armed with that info. I like that it is climate controlled - in East County, it's a bonus. The hours are great (6a-10p) & the access is on both side of the building makes it easy to get to your unit. There is a loading dock on the south side but it was designed for commercial vehicles, which means your uhaul truck or trailer is too short to line up & there's no lift (not sure how I feel about putting the ramp at an incline of the truck up to the platform). The north entrance doesn't have a loading area but there are 6 parking spots assigned to the facility (our midsized suv fit snuggly so I can't imagine a larger vehicle would really be able to unload from them). It's generally clean from the couple of times we've toured. Small flatbed dollies are available at the entrances. Elevators are freight size but they are minimal with only one at each entrance. I wasn't going to do this because I hate to give one star reviews but I just read that some else went through the same situation as me. They basically doubled my monthly payment from $86.00 to $170.00! without any notice, I thought it was a mistake so I went straight to the office and the lady on the counter told me those were the new prices and that they did sent letters in advance through the mail (which I doubt because I would've canceled right away) they could've send an email and/or text message. I guess it's the new normal, big companies trying to screw customers over just to get more money. A simple text message like the ones they send every month could've solve this and would've cancelled on time, I mean by doubling my monthly payment I have no choice but to move somewhere else. First off Cesi is amazing! She is so personable and definitely made a great first impression! I can tell she loves being in customer service and it was a pleasure having her assist me. When I arrived with my mother, she took us on a tour of the property. She showed us the loading dock in the back of the building (there's a garage door for large items when unloading). The storage is right next door to Ashley's furniture which is convenient because of the access in the back. They have created a space for you to pull your uhaul in the back and unload easily! The facility it self is very new and clean! I also love the fact that it's at the parkway plaza mall and there is designated parking in the front of the facility for Extra Space customers. It's probably one of the best storage spaces that I have rented! Cesi had to leave at 6pm but made sure my movers and myself had access to the large garage door in the back (typically the large door closes at 6pm. Good facility but the guys at the front desk is a freaking jerk . I do have multiple storage units around town for my work that I do . Great place here but the guy is an ass. I asked him where the restroom was he told me with an attitude it was in the back of the building. I'm looking at the restroom right now in the office in front of the building... I will not be storing here in the future... Only because of the guy at the front desk. His attitude has stopped me or my coworkers from using this facility again.. customer service is always my top priority for my customers.. I am a senior project manager that deals with customers every day.. but this guys has a lot to learn how to talk and treat customers..my coworker told me about him and I see exactly what he meant.. read more

Thank you for reminding me of the $120 market rate increase and that I was sent a letter, which could be the laziest and deceptive way possible to gouge your customers out of money. For a 90% increase a courtesy call or email would've gone a long way here, but that is clearly not the Extra Space business model. Extra Space Storage has been providing me with somewhere for my extra things for about 3 years now in Nevada and California. Only thing I don't like is some places only take a certain type of lock and I think it's always better to have options. I also wish the hours were a little longer instead of 6am-10pm for access. Other than that Extra Space Storage is a great place for your extra things. read more
