Rented a unit November 19, 2018. Got us hooked with a promotion for the first month "free". Wouldn't allow us to use our own STORAGE GRADE LOCK and MADE US PAY another chunk(want to say $25ish) to buy a completely unnecessary lock simply because that's what they wanted. Mind you,our lock was purchased at another PS Facility a few years ago, is a premium Lock they formerly- and many other facilities now- endorse use of. Complete waste of my money, but I relented- after all, the first month was"free", right? Without my knowledge they raised our unit rent by over 20%- from $196 to $236. I was told they sent an email in April- so they say- which I never received, and EVEN THOUGH THEY CALL ME ON MY CELL PHONE if the rent is a few days late, they couldn't be bothered to tell me there was to be a rate increase. So paying online in MAY, I was shocked to find this huge percentage rate increase. This means that after payments for only 4.5mos, they increased my rent 20%+. I was aghast, and at first thought that there was a mistake/or a late fee charged when I saw the bill had increased by $4after all, one would NOT expect that so quickly a facility would dare increase the rent! I called & spoke to a manager on site who told me she was sorry, that she understood this was a bit much- and a bit soon- and she promised to put in with corporate to put my rent back down to where it had been, but that I would have to pay the higher rent for May- which I did. I did not hear back from the manager, and ASS*U*MEd she'd handled it as she stated, but she had NOT-- my rent for JUNE became due at the same CRAZY HIGH INCREASED PRICE of $238. I wrote to corporate, explained in an email my displeasure and expectation that it would be handled. NOT ONLY did they NOT change the rent back to the former level, they couldn't be BOTHERED to write a personal email, and the only indication I got that they were going to rip me off for additional funds was when on JUNE 8th I received an email - just an invoice emailed- stating my rent was increasing for May 2019. Again, no decency to send a personal email or to call--- EVEN THOUGH THEY CALL ME AT WORK when my rent IS paid before the deadline, if after the first. The local manager who calls apparently with payment reminders, couldn't be bothered to contact me after assuring me she was going to deal with corporate on my behalf. BEWARE--- they lure you with deals, charge for unnecessary locks, and then raise the rent (in my case a huge 20%) before five months of rental--- and then don't have the courtesy to respond personally to emails. ADDITIONALLY, there is a dumpster in the unit behind a locked gate. It bears a note, no illegal dumping. I get that- folks seem to all the time leave huge amounts of personal belongings and furniture - BUT one day I was walking the 2 miles back home from working at my storage unit. I had a plastic grocery bag filled about 1/4 with simple little bits of paper /my fast food wrappers/little bits, and I began to toss it in the dumpster (already loaded with tons of furniture and such) and was YELLED at by someone who apparently worked there-- they basically said- can't you read, there is no dumping allowed. Here I am, with my service dog and a rolling cart with 80 lbs of stuff I have to get home, WALKING, and they tell me I can't throw away an apple core, some old receipts, etc. REALLY?! You're going to call me on THAT?! I couldn't gone in the ladies room and set it in their bitty trash can. It was so little and of such type of trash that had I been inconsiderate, I could've just left It to fly away in the wind on the driveway, but OH NO, Heaven forbid I put 6 oz of trash in the dumpster. After all, I only paid an extra $4o for my unit that month! SHAMEFUL and completely RIDICULOUS. Still haven't gotten a personal email from corporate or the local facility. They don't care. They would rather take advantage of someone who they well-and-good-know has paid a small fortune of time and money to move into the facility at a set price, typically not able to move out on a whim, charge an unusually high and early rent increase, and hope that I may default, allowing them to lock me out of my unit and sell my goods to the highest bidder. Despite the cost, I am moving my things to a new location before the end of the month, because their practices prey upon people like myself, on limited budgets, not wanting to lose all their worldly possessions. Captive audience? Well, in this case, joke's on you, I will pay almost anything to get out of their facility and give my hard-earned money to a company who won't take advantage of me. And that is another thing- I would've given 30 day notice midmonth, but was told that I HAD to pay rent through any calendar month, regardless of the amount of notice I gave, and regardless of the fact that I didn't need the facility the entire month- or be in default. SIMPLY SHAMEFUL- go somewhere else! read more

This is the worst storage facility you could possibly go to the staff is rude and incompetent. I purchased a storage unit and when I went to put my stuff in it I couldn't get in there was no one onsite to give me my access code and after waiting for over 2 hours I called customer service and was told to make an appointment in order to be able to access my unit which was already paid for. Then was wrongfully accused of violating the rental agreement saying I was "loitering" in my storage unit when I was going through and organizing my stuff best advice I can give anyone is don't rent there take your business elsewhere. I must say I was incredibly surprised at the level of service! I called the 800-number to get more information and the guy on the phone was SOOOO helpful and thorough - he told me once I reserved the space a manager would reach out and check in with me. Sure enough 10 minutes after the call was over I received a call from the manager checking in to see if I had questions. Upon arrival, the manager, Wendy, greeted me, we filled out and signed the paperwork. She walked me to my unit for approval and I was all set! I appreciate good customer service and prompt response. I started renting here 2 years ago, 5x10 unit for 79$ month. My rent has gone up almost double in that time, I am now at 146$ for same EXACT unit. Online a 10x10 unit is 135$. Called today to see if I could get that rate and the customer service told me i had to get that rate online. Okay, cool. So I ask if I secure the online deal, can i possibly get a unit nearby to make moving easier. She told me i wouldnt qualify for the promotion. So I ask if I get the unit in someone else's name may I request a unit close to that area. I'm told "no, you just told me it was for you and you cannot get the promotion." So not only has my rent doubled in two years, I also cannot get a unit at the price they are offering to other customers. Now I'll have to pay for a uhaul and move to a complete other property just to get the price they offer to anyone. Does this sound like customer service, none the less fair practice? read more

I WAS BROKEN INTO AND ROBBED!!! Somebody took their time to break into my unit go through all my boxes steal half of them and took some stuff out of my boxes. Then they put everything back. Reported the robbery to office no investigation not even a follow up I felt scared and violated and they did I nothing. I asked to move to a same size unit because I had been robbed multiple times before I realized what was going on. They said they would have to raise my rent and I needed to pay them up front the new first months rent. So not only am I not being protected now they want to penalize me to protect my stuff. I had a unit here for over a year and I liked the location. Right off the freeway and you drive up to the units. they have huge doors and lights inside. Very nice to use. The place itself is always clean and secure. The help was always friendly. The only down side was they raised my rent twice within a year and they were higher than A1 down the street. They were higher when I got the unit and they increased more so than A1 did over the year+ I was there. Now this place is nicer than A1. Much. The units are better and more convenient. Id seriously consider paying more here for these reasons. Its probably worth it. read more

Happy with the security of this particular property. There is a location on Johnson ave less than a mile away and the front gate is always open and staff there seems to be neglecting the people that drift onto the property. This property is secure at all times code in code out one gate. The manager Wendy went out of her way to help me get the right size and situated with my new unit and even though I reserved a bigger unit the one o got stored all my stuff and she saved me money in the end. read more

I was assisted by this wonderful girl named Ashley who made my day. She was cheerful and friendly as she took my payment even though I was unprepared with my account information. Had no problem getting a unit and with the blonde woman whom helped me. Beware: if you have an assertive voice that doesn't sound like a dove cooing, WENDY will threaten to hang up on you. She's apparently a VERY sensitive child. Try to whisper maybe and she'll not hang up on you. Lmmfao @ Wendy's sensitivity level. Why do you work anywhere if you can't handle people's differences???? I have been a customer of the PUBLIC STORAGE facility in El Cajon CA on Magnolia for well over 20 years, they have always kept the facility clean and pest free, plenty of security and if you needed assistance the front desk was there to help. I recently retired and am leaving CA, NATASHA was GREAT. It took me three days to clean out the unit and she helped me in identifying a salvage/recycle facility nearby where I could get rid of so much useless stuff and make little cash on the side. This location is infested with rats. Three months ago i put items in the storage and everything was fine today me and my wife were planning on taking some stuff out and when we opened the unit rat droppings were everywhere things were chewed on including wedding items and we found two dead rats in our unit. We told the person working about it and she said they knew about the problem and they called an exterminator to handle it a couple months ago. We asked why didnt you notify us and what about our damaged items. She said its not their responsibility and we have to deal with it read more

I Rate this place 0 stars as this place is WORST public storage I've rented from by far. Natasha the property manager would always have a snobby attitude with poor customer satisfaction skills she would act friendly at first but when your already signed up that attitude completely change I always caught her staring into my unit everytime she walked by, I forgot to lock my unit one time and next day I showed up she said she opened up my unit an entered without permission then complained that i had bottles of piss inside when 3 quarters of the time the bathroom was always locked. Here I am now in position of getting all my personal life long belonging put up for auction due to non payment I was recently released from serving over a month in county jail I pleaded with management that I have partial payment towards my ridiculous payment of $800 but without paying it in full all my things would be auctioned off anyways I also tried to call Rob the district manager left multiple messages to please return my call but got absolutely no call back. I'm really upset an hurt that there's nothing anyone can do to stop this auction as it seems that all they care more about is getting there money back an less about helping me not lose my irreplaceable family belongings. Horrible staff who don't even clean the units or inside. Blood stains on the walls and floor. Bathroom that's has been out of order for the past 1 month. There is only good staff member I wish I knew her name. The rest especially the fat one is rude and lied. If u stay more then few hours they say u are hanging out at the place I guess your not allowed to be there for a long period of time. Stay away from this place. Its over priced and falling apart. The friendly staff person this Sunday was very helpful, giving me a locksmiths name, who only charged me 50.00, plus a new lock from the company for 20.00. Came in to get a storage unit today. I reserved online and within the the hour they had contacted me. The property manager Wendy was super friendly (and cute too!) The unit was clean and ready and the paperwork was a breeze. I definitely recommend completing your information online to save some time. Of course they are obligated to push moving/packing supplies along with their insurance. Not a big deal to say no to. All in all, a pleasant experience with friendly staff. I will have to say this is by far the worst business experience I ever had in my entire life. The district manager and some of his employees are spiteful, hateful and vengeful. He kept reminding me that "he was the district manager" like his status was so important, not the reputation of the company. It seemed like he was addicted the power his position entailed. He also has some weird relationship with the woman that are employed at each of the storage units, he was very protective over them and believed their story not even giving me an opportunity to explain. It almost seems like he is having an affair with one or more of them. They are so hateful when I was forced to move out for some retarded reason, my uhaul accidentally hit the bumper of a car on the street. I did the right thing and left a note on the car. Well the witch that worked there tracked down the driver to make sure he knew I hit the car, which is fine because I left a note on his car. Also, I took the lock off when I moved and left a small table and chair in the unit. Well the witch called me back and said I had to remove the table and chair of I would continue to be charged rent and they would evict me,but she told me this after it was already too late so I had to pay $200 dollars and then move the table and chair out because I was locked out of the unit they put one of their locks on the unit. I called the district manager and he "with pleasure in his voice" said the same thing. They kept calling me harrassing me laughing while they talked to me, screaming at me at the top of their lungs that I would continue to be charged rent with laughter in their voice. They were bent on destroying my life and causing as much misery as possible. The experience I had with them was so traumatic that every time I pass by a Public Storage sign I have to give them the finger, lol and I do not even cuss!!!!
