The manager Gabe and his assistant Edward were very helpful in my moving. I was able to see the storage unit before I made a decision. Mission Valley also allowed me to use their moving truck at no extra charge. They have great customer service. I highly recommend this storage facility! read more

We rented space to store my daughter's items for summer break from college. The whole process was easy from start to finish. Even beyond that, when we moved her stuff in, the staff allowed us to use their dolly and same for move out. The staff was super friendly and easy to work with, especially when I left our lock key at home and had to buy a new lock. They were able to assist us quickly to remove our lock and help to purchase a new lock from them. Check out was just as easy. Will rent from again at the end of this school year too. read more

I highly recommend this place! Edward, Cassie, and Gabe were incredibly helpful and made my experience smooth and very pleasant. If you're looking for storage, this is the place to go. Go Aztecs! read more

Horrible customer service and they lied to you about their rates and they raise their rates every six months

The rent for the unit was raised 3 times during 1 year and a half. I tried politely negotiating a better rate for a lease and they said they would look into it and never responded. I paid $140/mo for a tiny 5x10 unit. Also they advertise access to a moving truck which was a major selling point for me, but as it turns out you can only use this once: When you move in. I truly thought this was basically a truck I had access to during my tenancy, which explained why it was so expensive, but nooo. I wasted money and time in this business that I would not have, if I wasn't in such a hurry to secure a place. Considering that there are hundreds if other businesses just like it in the area, I feel like this one does not deserve to keep thousands of dollars of my hard earned working class income in exchange for the great skill of "owning broom closets" read more

Great prices 1st month was 1$ did everything online made renting and securing my precious keepsakes simple and safe. Relatively affordable, but that's all they've got going for them. Clearly you're not paying for competent service. No communication in regard to updates - you only find out general information when you visit your unit and see cheap paper notes taped to the wall. When I brought my concerns to the person at the front desk, he clearly didn't care, even got defensive and threatening. He was aggressively yelling at me when I tried to pay my bill, telling me I couldn't pay by check and that I'd have to pay online (the website crashes when I attempt to log in) or by the phone (no one answers and returns your call). When I first moved in two years ago, Alex and Natalie were very nice and helpful, but the tightwad I see now reminds me time and time again that I can't move out of here fast enough! When asking about move out procedures, I received this response (see picture). I don't know if I should be insulted by their disregard to grammar or laugh. "Not even one hour!" Ooooookay... I responded to the email to give them notice. No return confirmation. I emailed again asking them an entire business day later to confirm they read my email and tell me by when I need to move out. I get a message with just a date - no greeting, no signature. I'm just appalled by the simpletons who run this company. read more

RATE MISSION VALLEY STORAGE AT -0! THEY SUCK. Was a former tenant. After 4 years of watching my monthly cost increase 20 per year I had enough. These asshats refused to let me use the restroom in June 2021. Claiming covid. Meanwhile where are there masks when I walk in? They locked the trashcan so I had to drive my trash elsewhere. Greedly little fuckers. I had to stay from 24th ty o 30 of June. Refused to prorate seven days. Even though Ive paid monthly never skipping a payment, left unit clean. Provided vacate notice. There answer.. we dont pro rate. Cant use the rest room and no you cant throw 1 trash bag in trash can Kharma back to you greedy schmu ks. Dont ever use them thete are better places in town! read more

This is the second time using Mission Valley Self Storage to store my daughter's college items over the summer. The process is pretty straight forward. You choose what size storage unit best fits your needs. Purchase your own cylinder lock or buy one from them. Same with renter's insurance. If you choose to use your own, simply provide a copy of your insurance declaration page. Rosalie helped make registration fast and easy. She is super friendly, professional, and even chose a great storage unit for us that was right next to the elevator. Very convenient to load and unload quickly. When calling other storage facilities to check on rates, Mission Valley was more reasonable. I will continue to use them for their excellent service. read more

I sent an email to MV Self Storage a couple of days ago... I like to address issues directly with a company before blasting them online. It has been two days and they can't be bothered to respond so here I go... I have an upstairs unit, located on the far side opposite of the elevator. There seems to be a major problem here keeping moving carts accessible for the tenants. At least 50% of the time I come to move items in or out of my unit, there are no carts to be found. None in the elevator where they belong, none in the hallways upstairs, NONE. So envision yourself hauling your heavy bins, furniture, etc. from the elevator down the hallway in multiple trips. It is NOT an easy or pleasant experience. I expressed my frustration to the front office person and I just received some poor excuses... carts are expensive, people steal them, people move them, blah blah blah. How about someone be in charge of putting the carts back in the proper place a couple times a day?? Seems like an easy solution to better serve your tenants. They automatically raise your rent 10% annually. I figure if you're getting that much more money from everyone you can probably swing buying some new carts when needed. Though the location may be convenient if you live in the Grantville area, do yourself a favor and find another storage place a little further out, with better pricing, and better service. read more

My negative review is based on my move-out experience today. Today is the date rent would have been due to pay through Nov 12th. I was sick this past week, so today was first opportunity I had to remove my items from storage. At just after Noon, when my space was emptied out and I was in the office, I was told I had to pay $100 for rent thru Nov 12th because I didn't move out Friday or yesterday. Apparently the system makes no allowance for move out on the morning of the 1st day of new rental period. As a senior on a fixed income, I find that especially poor customer service. Now the company has my money and may have already rented the space again this afternoon to someone else. Seems very greedy. If I had felt better today I would have told the lady to cancel the move-out and I would have put my lock back on the door to prevent them profiting off the same space twice for the month. But I didn't have the energy. So I just left a very unhappy customer. Buyer beware! read more

I stopped by because one of my friends said she rented storage a few years back. I really didn't need storage at the time however, I'm big on easy workflow and being prepared. I had the pleasure of doing business with Gabe. He has good energy and he is on it! He was very helpful aiding my indecisive mind lol. Like I said I didn't need the storage at the time so Gabe told me a unit would be opening closer to the time that I would need it and offered to place the unit on hold for me. Few weeks pass and I had plans to stop by to make sure Gabriel hadn't forgotten about me. Not 10 minutes later I got a call and it was Gabe informing me that my unit was ready for me. Do you believe in divine timing? I really appreciate Gabe's punctuality, I was in and out with the paperwork. Property is clean. I love my unit. I'm currently packing and had to make sure I tell others to stop by and see Gabe. I'm very thankful for his customer service. read more

I recently helped my sister move all her belongings to this place. At first, I was hesitant just because it was so last minute that I thought she chose it out of desperation! I was wrong! First, the facility looked very small. When we finished moving her stuff, we saw that there was a lot more space left over that I had a chance to also take some of my own boxes as well. Every time we drove in, there was always some person from the office walking or driving around, making sure everything was OK or needing any help! That made me feel safe, and also know that my things are secure too! On our last trip to the storage, we asked the manager about the move out process. What would it be like since my sister got the storage unit online without speaking to anyone. He made sure we understood the rental agreement just because you really don't read all the fine print online! He didn't want us to get any surprises at the end! He made sure if we ever had any other questions or concerns that we could call him directly for assistance! He was such a cool guy! read more

This place is awesome it's the most affordable and central of San Diego than any other storage place around. The staff is awesome and is always eager to help. Rosalie and Martin in particular have been so patient with me, answering my questions and even helping me lift some things out of my car! I called other places just to get sent to voicemail, but every time I call here with my silly questions they always pick up and happily answer all my questions. I won't store my things anywhere else because of how great the customer service is. You arnt going to get that sort of care and anywhere else around here! read more

Great place at an affordable rate the staff was always friendly and helpful I would highly recommend to anyone who lives around the mission valley area. read more

Been renting a storage here for over a year now I live directly across the the street in the Vora apartments the rate was reasonable I. The beginning around 85 dollars a month then they raised the rate to $110 for a 5x6 storage space. I went to the apartments in which we also have storage same size 5x6 for $30 dollars a month! It was basically simple math after finding out cheap the storage was right here where I stay j moved everything out ASAP ! Also the storage here I have access to 24/7 and is about 20 steps down the hall. So if you live at the Vora apartments check with management before you go here please you'll save a ton of money! One more thing no late fees! read more

First time getting a storage unit and the ladies here in the office made it super easy and fun.. I even locked myself out the other day and they came running to my rescue!! 10 out of 10 read more

I have a couple of storage places here and have been very happy with not only the storage units, but the staff as well. They go well beyond what is agreed to in our contract. The staff has never failed to make a courtesy call if my rent is late so I don't get charged a late fee. Pretty stand up if you ask me. The negative reviews on here are a joke. If you can't pay your rent, don't blame the management company! Isn't it interesting how people who can't fulfill their end of a contract, and fail in their financial obligation, blame everyone else for their predicament? Sad. Do yourself a favor and go here when looking for a storage space, you will be glad you did. read more

The office people are terribly rude, the prices are way over priced compared to local storage facilities. And the facilities gate closes at 7 or 8pm so you cannot enter without getting locked in at night. I would recommend A1 for better prices and 24 hour access to your unit. read more

Stored my SDSU student's belongings over the summer and couldn't be happier with their pricing, facilities or service. I was able to book the unit from my home 400 miles away and purchase a lock from them by phone. My daughter arrived, picked up the lock and moved herself in. I didn't see the unit until 3 months later when we moved her out. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The woman at the front desk couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Highly recommend and will definitely use them again! read more

Staff very nice and helpful. Clean storage rooms. Pricing was not so high look for discounts and enjoy. Good people and good service

I did a move job for a client of mine and his stuff is in the storage. I wish I had this place instead of public, they stay open later and the place is just much more convenient. I'm not going to move my stuff just to be here but if I ever get another one this will be my first pick. read more

I went in a few days ago to update my reoccurring card for monthly payments. They couldn't be more friendly or efficient. I am active duty military. I am being sent away way sooner than I expected, so I needed somewhere to store my belongings temporarily, and quickly. I went to Mission Valley Self Storage because they had good prices. Above all else however, their service was incredible. The Manager, Rosalie went above and beyond to ensure that I was taken care of and that I could leave with peace of mind, something that is rarely afforded to us. I strongly recommend using this company, and whatever you do Mission Valley Self Storage, do not let go of Rosalie! She is great! Thank you for everything! read more

Michael was nice. Great deal on three months at half price. Easy access. We were able to complete the paperwork and get moved in in under 30 minutes. I would recommend this to my family, friends and coworkers. It's a good beginning to our move. read more

The worst place. People who work at this place are EXTREMELY rude and dishonest. I was given a big storage space than I wanted. The lady who signed me in told me that it was the only one left. But a friend called a day later and she was shown the sizes I was looking for. They also like to increase the prices very often. Don't be fool by the half price when you move your stuff because they will start overcharging you after a few months. read more

Measured the actual size of the unit and it was almost 2' less than quoted. Truck is small and all kinds of riduculous rules. Had a reservation, never received call from property. Called the day prior to move in. Spoke with Alex (Alejandro) who was rude, unhelpful, ambivilent, told me to rent my own truck, and hung up on me. Requested district manager Natalie call me to discuss Alex's behavior, never got a response. I reserved a unit and a truck that apparently was already taken. One person gets the truck from 9-5. You must have premium full coverage car insurance and $150 cash, must show a receipt for at least $15 refuel no matter how many miles.Cannot rent past 10 am. The person who supposedly had the truck didnt even show, yet they still refused to let me use it. I get rules, these are not customer friendly and neither is the staff. Will not rent here, plenty of others who are professional.Alex learn how to problem solve and conflict management, literally any people skills. read more

Poor Service, FALSE ADVERTISING, and unwilling to meet customers needs. I reserved a storage unit, a 10x20, in order to fit my one bdrm apt. When I arrived, they explained their strange rules of no throwing away trash or we will be fined, after hours fines, and many list of fineable offenses. I brushed it off as I would not be at my storage unit very often. Then, upon opening the unit to view, I immediately realized this was not a 10x20 unit. I asked the employee if it was 10x20 and his response was "I think so"...He didn't know. So I measured the unit and it was 18ft x 9ft! Complete scammers here! I went back to the office and let them know the issue. They we're extremely rude, unable to accommodate, refused to resolve the situation in any way. I asked to speak to a supervisor, "not available", and they said someone will contact me on the matter...This business is stealing customers money, lying, and seemed satisfied in doing it. HORRIBLE Business practice, poor customer service, basically corporate thieves. I will be reporting this business for their false advertising and faulty business practices. read more

Termites: and fairly expensive. Extremely dirty on move in. I decided to move out after I found termites. When I wrote about termites on the check out survey, the desk clerk did NOT acknowledge the issue. In fairness, they did contact me once after I neglected to lock up properly. If you don't have "stuff" termites eat, like concrete or iron.... 'enuff. said. Did I mention: termites??? read more

The place seems clean enough when you first see it (how clean can an outdoor storage unit get?) But there were termites on some of my things when I moved out. The prices aren't outrageous, but definitely over priced when you consider the bugs, the location (its really more mission gorge than mission Valley), and that the staff is sometimes friendly but always EXTREMELY unhelpful. A couple of times the staff has been downright rude. Overall, I would warn to go somewhere else. read more

Amazing customer service! The man helping us was funny and pleasant. The manager of the place ended up doing our paperwork and she demonstrated the same professionalism. While waiting to finish up our paperwork, she over heard me saying I was thirsty, and she quickly offered water bottles for me and the two people that were with me. Very nice people! The storage was cheap, clean and easy to access.
