Most places sell square boxes, I was looking for a rectangular shape. And Box Galaxy had it. Hard to find this size of a box anywhere. I was specifically looking for a 19x9.5x15 box but they had 20x10x16 for $5.33 and that is the closest I will find. I didn't want to purchase a similar one at UPS for $12 with logo all over it and then have to buy popcorn or bubble wrap for extra to fill the space. Do the math, save a couple dollars. Really great experience! I sold some jeep suspension parts on ebay and needed them repacked and shipped across the country. I found this place on Google and couldn't have a better experience. The girl spent about 15 minutes carefully and expertly packing and boxing up my shocks. That box could have been dropped from an airplane without damage by the time she was done. Prices on large boxes and packing service were extremely reasonable. They offered shipping options through USPS, FedEx and UPS and were able to compare and contrast prices instantly. I took a valuable work of art to this business to have it packed for safe shipping. But the young man who was working there alienated me with an inappropriate attitude and a passive-aggressive demeanor. I reached out to the owner directly to alert him of the situation and to avoid writing this review. Since the owner has not replied to my email, I am posting this review for people who specifically want to have their valuable artwork packed and shipped. Aside the attitude, the rude clerk quoted me $70 to pack my item. He then suggested that I leave my irreplaceable artwork overnight and without a receipt So I left immediately and took my painting to a FedEx store in La Mesa, where they expertly boxed my treasure in 5 minutes and charged me a total of $24.43. They did this service while waiting on other customers and with pleasant customer service. So if you want to pack and ship artwork or other valuables, take your business to a Fed Ex store. They have better prices, their staff is competent, and they actually care about providing quality customer service. read more

I want to shout out to "J.L." for his assistance in assessing & packing an Antique/Vintage 1920's Camelback Humpback Storage Chest/Steamer Luggage Trunk. I began this project attempting to DIY (assessed, purchased box & styrofoams)...took it home & attempted to pack accordingly...however "I" didn't measure things correctly & quickly realized needed help to do it right...returned back to the store...and "J.L." jumped in on-the-spot and further assessed & packed accordingly...in fact, he reused the box I purchased and cut accordingly to add extra padding & structure. I donated the styrofoam given was the least I could do other than paying for his fair & reasonable labor. Further, "J.L. literally "saved me" $100's by packing in a different box (wardrobe) given the shipping charges it "would have" cost me to do things initially "my way"...and so am ecstatic we did things "his way". Note that this review is solely on my uhaul rental. I was moving out and this was the closest place near my old house to move my bed and cabinet (literally a two minute drive from my old place). I made a reservation for a van a few days before. When we arrived the guy at the counter explained the rules for my uhaul and gave me the keys right away. We were out in less than 10 minutes and we were able to return the keys after a couple hours. The place did not rip me off and I was overall satisfied! We've been shopping at Box Galaxy for years. They're always helpful and friendly. Today we stopped in with an unusual request - for the second time. My goddaughter wanted a box for Christmas so that she could make a fort. The first time I bought one for her she was 9 years old and much shorter than she is now. This year she asked for another box. I purchased approximately $50 worth of boxes, including a couple of mattress bags. I returned one of the mattress bags unopened in perfect condition. They charged me a 15% restocking fee for the return. I could have walked 15 feet and hung it up on the wall where I first go it. Granted, it wasn't a lot of money, but really? When I questioned the clerk, without delay, he said he couldn't do the return without charging the restocking fee. He didn't give a damn. Okay then...I won't be back. read more

As I'm getting ready to finally move, I've watched my expenditures climb and climb. A few hundred for the home inspection, a few hundred each for mold reports and lawyers fees, thousands for repairs for the new haunt, etc. And through it all, it aint easy to find a bargain. I was able to find one for my packing materials, though! Yeah, that's a small victory in the sisyphean struggle to get your life outta one place and into another, but hell, at this point, I'm damn glad for it. I priced boxes and wrapping supplies elsewhere, and this place came out way cheaper. Plus, they're really well-stocked on all packing material such as bubble wrap, packing peanuts, specialized boxes, and whatnot. I've been twice (my first time through I thought I bought enough, but no way - not even close), and both times the service has been friendly, quick and professional. I realize this place is a drive for many of us, but I found it worth it. It's one of those businesses you don't hit up very often, but when you need em, you're glad they're there. read more

Went here first thing in the morning right when they opened. I've been gathering shipping information for some items that I need to send overseas for a few months now and up until my visit here I couldn't find a good option. I needed to send some odd shaped car parts to Japan and every price quote I received was way out of my budget. Ron was very thorough and informative, as well as patient as I asked him for several different prices based on shipping scenarios. This place is legit. I sell on eBay so I buy boxes often. They have good deals on bulk boxes of any size. I had a large 40lbs item to ship recently. I took the item to them on a Saturday which is my only day off. They were about to close but the gentleman said to leave it there and he would take care of it Monday. Sure enough on Monday I got a call saying my item was boxed and ready to go. I was able to pay over the phone AND they let me email them my shipping label from eBay. BUT the reason I decided to write this review is because there is one person that works there, RON, that always goes above and beyond. He is cheerful, extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help. It is SO much appreciated! We usually try to box things ourselves to save money but yesterday we ran into a situation where our inexperience in knowing the "rules" might have cost us dearly. Apparently we were 1/2" over where we needed to be to SAVE $200!!! Instead of saying "boo hoo for you", Ron reworked our box for us to reduce the size thereby saving us that money. WOW! I have used Box Galaxy for a number of years,- just for boxes. During this pandemic, I had no desire to go to the post office or FedEx. So, I handed him a stuffed (9 pound) Target bag full of non fragile items. He measured it, went over and picked out the box that fit it EXACTLY, taped it up, input the address and gave me a total,- all in less than 10 minutes. At home,- comparing the rates of USPS and FedEx, I had come up with a much higher number. Why? Because I would have used a larger box than I needed to. He explained that Box Galaxy is consistently more competitive than the primary carriers,- while still using them for the shipment. I've always packaged and taped my boxes. Although it is simple and doesn't take much time, - with what I now know, it is SMARTER to take what I have to Box Galaxy. Which is what I will be doing in the future. read more
