I want to give a huge thank you to Dee at the USPS office for her outstanding help with my missing package. I had filed a service request after I couldn't find my delivery, and Dee went above and beyond to assist me. She personally reached out every day with updates, asked the carrier to recheck the mailboxes in our apartment complex, and kept me informed at every step. In the end, the package was found at our apartment office -- and it was all thanks to Dee's dedication, consistent follow-ups, and clear communication. I truly appreciate how much effort she put into helping me resolve the issue. Initially, I thought the package was gone for good, but Dee and the carrier worked together to make sure it was found. Y'all. If you can avoid this post office, please do. Don't go here unless you absolutely have to. The manager here is a condescending jerk who thinks the customer is incompetent and doesn't know what they're talking about. I realize that post offices everywhere are overworked and horribly understaffed. But the manager here shouldn't even be a manager as it is clear he hates his job. I've had no issues with other post office managers at College Area and Serra Mesa; they're actually really nice and professional! But this guy; I wish I knew his name but he is such a rude person who shouldn't be in customer service! And before anyone thinks I'm being dramatic and overly sensitive, I actually spoke about his attitude at the Tierrasanta post office and the postal workers there knew EXACTLY who I was talking about and agreed with me. Does anyone really go to the post office anymore?!? Yes they do! This location is fairly busy at times and yet only 1-2 workers at best. That's why this location could be better. At least right now during the holidays there are 3 service windows open... but still not enough to keep the line short. This used to be my go to Post office when I lived in the area. I still occasionally visit this one because it's conveniently located not far from the freeway. They have later closing hours on Saturday which is nice that it's a bit later, open until 2 pm. Staff is friendly. Plenty of parking. There is no lobby access outside of business hours. They do lock their large drop boxes on Sunday... never seen that before, Crazy! One perk to this location? Maya's cookies is just across the street! read more

Always get insurance. Always. The managers fail to train their employees to deliver responsibly and according to USPS's own rules for safe delivery. Packages get dumped anywhere in front of your property and when they go missing or get stolen, there is zero accountability if you didn't pay for insurance, even if said managers themselves admit the delivery person did it incorrectly. I'm rooting for the USPS. But if the lack of accountability for untrained or careless deliveries and careless managers are the modus operandi, I won't be surprised if the USPS fails. Disappointed - yes, but I will not be surprised. Someone else's incompetence shouldn't cost me dearly. And an apology as the only accountability measure is hardly way to keep customers. read more

Asked for help on who to contact for a missent package, the person who spoke with me refused to assist, even after I offered to provide and information needed. Extremely unprofessional with all of the people before me as well. Avoid the bald guy with glasses and goatee. The least helpful person I've ever had an interaction with. Just dropped off a polypackage with 3 red stickers marked FRAGILE on it - thought giving it to the front would be the safest option of shipping this out. Had I known the person receiving it would just carelessly throw it in a bucket near a desk, I would have placed it down myself in the bins to be sorted out instead. Would have given one star but this has always been my go to location so . . Guess I'll be going back to just dropping in the chute or placing in the large buckets moving forward. read more

Nice post office in the mission gorge area. The times I come here, people are generally nice. Decently staffed. Some of the other USPS's I've been to are understaffed. This one doesn't seem too bad. It's large. Parking is easy and plentiful. Haven't had any issues with this location. read more

I only wish I could give a 0 (F) for the US postal service. THEY CANNOT DELIVER! I had important documents to be sent via Priority domestic with return receipt and $6k insurance, per the business' instructions. On March 7, 2024, I spent over $70 and the PO claimed it would be there in 2 das. It didn't arrive until March 15 (8 das. later), and the return receipt, March 23. This is totally unacceptable, and I ought to be reimbursed for this bungling outrage. Never use the US post office for any special, important delivery service. When I went to the Grantville, San Diego station where I purchased the postage, many, many days later, the clerk didn't know anything, and couldn't interpret the clear receipt, from the address to the tracking number, etc. Totally incompetent. He thought the MA destination (for Mass.) was Maine! Then he read the wrong tracking number (for the return receipt) and had to ask me, again, where it was on the receipt. Outrageous! read more

I've never mailed a box before so I was worried it would be this huge process. But when I came to this post office, which I've been to before, I was helped quickly. I only waited in line for a few minutes, and the woman working behind the counter helped me and made the whole thing super easy. I was in there less than 10 minutes max. The woman helping me also made sure to get me the least expensive box which I appreciated. Both times I've been here it was a good experience, with short lines and very helpful staff. read more

Soooooo, yesterday got a failed delivery notice left in my mailbox (according to USPS no one was home, even though I was there all day, and close to the door!) Went online as indicated on the notice to arrange for a redelivery. The USPS web site could not locate the tracking number (yeah!). So, today drove to the post office address as indicated on the notice. 25 minutes one-way during rush / work hour (yeah they close at 5pm!)... Waited another 25 minutes in line, only to be told to go to a different post office location. Apparently the mail guy had used the wrong notice. I asked the clerk at the front desk if she had called to verify if the package was indeed there (not wanting to waste any more time). She was evasive and reluctantly said yes. She asked me if I wanted to speak with a manager. I said yes. She goes to ring a bell and then goes to service another customer. Nobody comes. 5 minutes later, she goes to ring the bell again, nobody comes. Left the post office. Drove another 35 minutes to the other location, waited another 10 minutes and was finally able to get my package! Wow. This experience shows every possible failure in the USPS system. Failing mail delivery, failing web site, horrible customer service, and incompetence. If anything these government employees should get fired! read more

This review is about the Grantville Post Office. It isn't about any other post office - it's the one in GRANTVILLE. I just left after waiting 45 minutes to mail one package. The line was OUT THE DOOR (at 11:15) and the Postmaster assigned ONE young woman to be the ONLY counter service agent. One customer said she had been there since 8:30, and witnessed that the counter didn't open on time but finally opened at 9:00. An open argument ensued between two women and the lone Postal Worker; no other employee came to her assistance even though she pressed the buzzer in the back three times while I was in line. It is not so much the counter personal but poor management on the part of the Postmaster or his/her designee. Do yourself a favor and drive a bit to another Post Office. This one is grossly mismanaged. It's a shame. read more

Paid $38 for priority shipping to send a package to my daughter 2 day delivery. It shows it was delivered on time. She couldn't retrieve the package because the carrier left the wrong mailbox key (to the wrong building). Have tried to call them all hours multiple days but no one ever answers the phone there and then I'm disconnected. Had to open a problem ticket with USPS and still waiting for resolution 5 days and counting. Answer your phones! Extremely unprofessional. read more

I came here for the first time yesterday because I was in the neighborhood and needed to mail two packages before they closed. Google maps got me close and I saw a sign saying where to turn but there are a lot of buildings that all look the same around here and I found it tricky to find. Once I arrived there was enough parking and the staff were friendly and helpful. The building was clean and the line moved quickly. Overall, I had a good experience! read more

I recently lost a post office box I have had for 30 years because they stated I did not pay since October of 2019. There were no warnings no request no nothing and I can not get my box number back. Unfortunately I paid cash and am look for the receipts - anyone else have this problem. Seems impossible that it has been unpaid for over a year before they shut me down when everyone knows that you miss one payment you receive a warning. They are holding my mail now and will not deliver it to a new box office. read more

The post office has implemented the 6ft in distance, plexiglass window, wearing a mask before entering, etc during the time of COVID-19. Although I'm sure it took effort to adjust and handle customers that didn't comply, I'm so happy that they are not showing any stress or unhappiness during this time. I've been here about 10 times the last month to ship letters and packages to my boyfriend at MCRD. Every single time the service has been great. I've experienced cranky and unhappy usps employees at other locations, but not here! The employees were very nice, helpful AND quick. The employees are usually the same people each time I come. I chose a priority mail box and the employee recommended a different one for domestic shipping because it was a cheaper option for me. I really appreciated it! read more

Actually visiting a post office is a good reminder of why I need a home scale for mailing packages. The machine to self-serve wouldn't read my card and the line for an actual person was so long, I almost just left thinking I'd never get my turn. When I finally got my turn, the woman I worked with was nice and on my other encounters here the staff has always been friendly. Generally however, USPS has invested so much in making mailing easy - flat rate boxes, purchasing postage online, etc - it's evident they are not in a hurry to improve the in-person experience. This place is kind of hidden off of Mission Gorge Road, so I don't know that it's even a busy location. There was clearly plenty of parking but not nearly enough staff for the volume of visitors on my several visits. As a result of my most recent visit, I picked up some flat rate boxes (which you can print postage at home for) to save me the trouble next time. Even if what I'm mailing isn't heavy the time the line consumed is not worth the few quarters I'd save in postage. read more

My tracking number says the package arrived a month ago, but it should have been forwarded to my new address by now. Tracking does not show any updates about forwarding. I have been unable to reach anyone via phone at the location. My new post office has even been trying to help me with this issue and even they cannot reach the Grantville office. This is not the only time we've had issues, specifically with packages, at this post office location. When I did live in the area and would go into the counter, staff were very rude and not helpful in locating the first package that was missing. It was eventually found a week later and the box was destroyed. Still have not received the most recent missing package almost 5 weeks later. read more

Needed to mail a care package to my husband in the military. The clerk, Ken, wouldn't say anything and just stared at me and was rude because my box was not a flat rate box. He was at first refusing to help me. He then asked me to lift it for him because he claimed it was too heavy when it was only a few pounds. He wouldn't put in the address right so I hope it gets there and was rude about every shipping option I tried to pick and was rude until I picked the most expensive one. He the proceeded to pick up my box without help and jostle it around. They just hired new employees who know nothing are extremely Rude especially the woman by the name of Mariela she was helping her customer out and left them standing there to butt in to what I was addressing with the other employee, Which is extremely rude for both customers. We have been customers for years and go on a daily basis never had a problem up until a couple of weeks when this woman started working there. She gave us a certain price and than we go the following day and other employee said it was wrong that it should be $1.20, So we go back change it and everything is fine so we thought.
