This is the best NY style Pizza in Berkeley and perhaps the entire Bay Area. As someone from the East Coast it's incredibly hard to find a good slice, but this place nails it each and every time. It's takeout so no ambiance, service is quick and easy. He has a system, it works, the food is excellent quality. Everyone should try this place even if it's just once. You just need to decide in the morning that you want pizza for dinner and order online since that's the system.

As a parent you eat a lot of mediocre pizza. Good pizza is always nice, an opportunity to share with friends or family, have a beer. Excellent pizza, you actually enjoy it for its own sake, and it's a nice combination of flavors. This place, though, now I get it. Easily the best pizza I've ever had. I put in an order on their webpage in the morning. 7:43 pickup time. Huh, that's precise. Okay. I show up at 7:35, it's this little storefront with no seats and little signage, but can tell I'm in the right place from the amazing aroma. I wander around the street for a bit, check out the taco place next door. 7:41, come back. Guy greets me, asks my name, says "oh, you're 7:43. Almost ready." 7:43 on the dot he takes it out of the oven, puts it in a box, and hands it over. I take it home and devour. The crust is light, thin, bendable, with a nice chewiness and a delicious flavor on its own. The sauce a little spicy, not too thick, just to flavor the pizza. A sprinkle of cheese. I got pepperoni and mushroom to go with a classic, and can actually taste the mushrooms. Cremini, I think? Half of it is gone before I think to take a picture. Phenomenal. Definitely going back.

After learning about the mental illness ordering process, I knew I had to sign myself up. I woke up at 7 AM, got ready for the day, then logged into the dial-up, Neopetz-esque website at 8:54 AM for 8:55 AM ordering. Once I knew what to get and readied my cart, I then had to wait until 9:01 AM to enter a RANDOMIZED QUEUE into another waiting list at 9:08:51 AM to select a time slot. For most people, they'll go "WTF!!" but for me, each queue lead me to get giddy and say "Here we go!" I was able to snag a 6:09 PM pick-up, and hilariously, the owner pulled the pizza exactly at 6:09 PM from the oven. The man knows how to budget his time to a T. I have no notes for Emilia's Pizzeria other than it's excellent. The owner Keith, who I briefly interacted with, seems like a nice and passionate guy just slinging out pizzas. I have to pull a comparison card and say that other acclaimed pizzerias like Rose's and June's all possess a certain "wow" factor that makes them unique. Rose's has things like a romantic ambiance, the Caesar, and flavorful white pies, while June's has the best marg in town and shredded cheese beds on their pizzas - a true stoner's dream. Much like the owner, Keith, Emilia's Pizzeria is humble. It's probably the best NY style pizza in the Bay. It doesn't possess that ostentatious flair, but just from pure taste and fresh ingredients it has that something special. I got the fully loaded pizza of Sopressata, Sausage, Pepperoni, and Extra Cheese, which Keith labels "The Forbidden" since it's extremely difficult to get all those toppings onto the pizza. While being the King Arthur Supreme flavor of Emilia's, I still found it humble. I didn't feel myself heavy after eating half of this bicycle wheel of a pizza. I felt full, happy, and hearty. And that's the magic of Emilia's - the heart of it all.

Well. I had heard all of the hype and after watching Netflix's Chef's Table: Pizza for the last few days I was craving some pizza so decided to pull the trigger. The ordering process is... odd. It seems like a form from 1999 and not in a cool way. I understand not wanting to pay for Toast or whatever other systems are out there these days but this was just plain bad. Saying that, I physically watched the pizza cook remove the pizza from the oven and box it so it was fresh exactly at my scheduled pickup time which was great. The pizza. I immediately noticed upon picking up my box how light the pizza felt. This is an 18" pie. I imagined it would feel slightly heavy. Upon further investigation I understood why. There was a minimalist aspect to the toppings. A thin layer of sauce, sparse amounts of cheese and a few pepperonis scattered around the pie. The crust was phenomenal, a crispy undercarriage and chewy center that is best enjoyed hot. Although I did wonder how much the sparse toppings attributed to the pizza not having any flop. All in all it wasn't a BAD pizza, but I wouldn't say it was a GREAT pizza either. For $36 I was expecting a little more. I'll probably be sticking with Pollara or Rose the next time I have a hankering for pizza.

Their pizza was very solid, but not outstanding in any manner. The service was prompt given the strict pickup rules, and overall I have no complaints here.

Great pizza, archaic system, pizza came out of the oven exactly at pickup time (gotta love NY efficiency) - so overall not too inconvenient and worth the try! -Gina Calabrese was yummy. Nice thin crust and tasty toppings. Personally I would've preferred more sauce and spiciness -I used the callback option - I filled out the form at 8:55am, waited until 9:01am for it to refresh, and there were many time options. Callback came between 3:30-4pm -Best of all was that the pizza came out of the oven right at my pickup time. So don't come too early or too late :) -Don't forget it is cash only -Only minus one star to be honest with myself - it was a good pizza but not a pizza I'd crave to go back to I recommend you try it!

Calabrian (the oil smear on my plate is olive oil I added to dip the crust in, not pizza oil)

The cheesy thin, crusty burnt ends gives it an appeal that most pizzas don't have .Thats what distinguishes this place from (ALL ) others ..Jupiter and Rose to name a few. Everything about our experience at Pizzeria Da Laura in Berkeley was absolutely perfect!…read more The meatballs were delicious--so flavorful, tender, and moist, and the sauce was absolutely incredible. And the arancini... hands down, the best I've ever had! Perfectly crispy on the outside and so delicious on the inside. We ordered The Standard pizza, and it was baked to perfection! The crust was perfect, the sauce was delicious, and every topping could be tasted in every single bite. Everything came together so beautifully. The ambiance was amazing too--warm, inviting, and the perfect setting for a great meal. The service was great! This was one of those meals where everything was just right. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and an experience we truly enjoyed. We'll definitely be back!

Brief Summary: - Close to the Downtown Berkeley BART station…read more- Indoor and outdoor seating available - Right next to it there is a shop where you can purchase slices and ingredients Lately, this is the family's favorite pizza place. The first time we tried this was a few years ago, and one of my family members wanted to try a new place to eat pizza and had been exploring one almost once a month cadence. Then we tried here, and we were amazed and became our favorite. One of the reasons why we like going here more often than the other restaurants, the food of course, but the comfortable restaurant atmosphere. Still to this day we chose to walk-in and test our luck than take a reservation, and so far we were able to get a seat. In the most recent visit, there was a university game, so there was a longer wait time. The good thing about waiting was there were dedicated seats to wait, or in the first few minutes we hung out in the shop next door. Here, visitors can choose to buy and take home a slice instead of dining in, order food or shop for ingredients. The pizzas we've eaten so far are the Sicily style and this one has a lovely texture. Its appearance is like pillows. It's lightly-crispy on the edges, even the under-layer. It holds the pizza toppings without bending. We also tried a pizza named the most thinnest pizza, and we loved this one too. This one was located under the Speciality menu, so this didn't have topping customization. We loved that while it was very thin it still held the toppings too. I also love stracciatella cheese, so I also tasted the milkiness while eating this slice. We've also loved the pasta and have been trying a new menu each time. The one we tried recently had a fun texture, like a gentle crunch, and the pesto sauce was easy to eat, didn't get heavy in the end of the meal. I also tried a salad that was being served to most of the tables on this particular evening; a bowl of purple leafs, purple onions, and beets. The chicory leaf had a subtle bitterness to it, but with the sweet beet, it balanced it out. I also love goat cheese, and it was creamy. Wrapping up the review, it gave me a soft joy when the staff recognized and greeted us. The staff were kind and attentive since our first visit,, so his was another part that we liked during our eating experience. We'll definitely visit again when we're craving pizza.

I came to Rose Pizzeria on a Thursday night and the 45 minute wait was worth it…read more It's a cute small restaurant that if you're not paying attention while walking or driving, you will miss this gold mine. Their menu is stacked with so many items from appetizers, drinks, and then pizzas. I started off with some olives, and they were perfect. Not sure where they sourced them from. I ordered the Old Faithful and I should've ordered two. It was so good with all of the flavors combining in each bite, and pairing it with their hot honey, it was the perfect combination among sweet, spicy, and savory. I tried their pie for the first time, sharing a She Wolf pizza and spicy Caesar between our party of two. They strictly serve 14 inch thin crust pies, which is a decent amount of food split between 2, if you supplement with a starter course. The She Wolf, littered with olives and garlic confit, is sublime, and the dollops of burrata thoughtfully portioned on every slice make a rich, excellent contrast to the tangy sauce underneath. I'd imagine Portnoy being likely pleased with the undercarriage, which was stiff enough to not forfeit any of its structural integrity nor toppings to the almost-inevitable flop. The spicy Caesar is a damn good Caesar and not over nor under dressed. Next time, I'd add some anchovies. In Carrie Bradshaw fashion, I also indulged in a chilled red with my pizza this afternoon while people watching on their adorable patio. Is there really a better lunch to be had?
