The vodka pizza was OK. I definitely like the artichoke pizza more. The service here is super friendly as well. The line does get pretty long on busy nights after big events like concerts, but it tends to move pretty fast. I've tried their Artichoke, Margherita, and Vodka slices which are all solid choices. Each of their slices are huge and great for the price of ~$8! Personally, I find their pizzas to be a bit on the heavier side with their generous amounts of sauce, but great if you're in the mood for some mouth-watering greasy saucy pizza. They operate on a grab n go service, but there are seats and a few standing tables outside. Overall, definitely a pizza spot worth going to when you're in Berkeley!

Nostalgia much? I grew up with Blondie's Pizza. I have loved…read morethis place since I was a teenager & I love it even more now. For more than one reason. For one it brings back so many good memories, Blondie's always makes me happy. The second reason is they now have 100% BEEF PEPERONI! You heard me, 100% BEEF PEPPERONI! For some people that's not a big deal. For someone who hasn't eaten pork their whole life & always has to avoid getting pepperoni on their pizza, its a HUGE freaking deal. I love, love, love when the rare occasion happens that I get to enjoy BEEF PEPPERONI on my pizza. OK besides that, the pizza is amazing. I was literally closing my eyes and in my happy place the whole time. Now for those that never had BEEF PEPPERONI, please go try it. It is so much higher quality than pork pepperoni, so I've been told. I plan to make many more trips in the near future, thats how excited it made me. By the way I loved the cheese just as much, yum yummy. Pro tip: parking is hard, obviously, downtown Berkeley and all. So either walk, Uber, find parking, take the bus, or do as I do and tag team it and drop off a friend to go order for the whole car and drive around until they are ready to be picked up. Do what you have to, just get there. Now go enjoy yourself, you can thank me later.

We were greeted by the friendliest server (a tall guy with curly hair whose name I unfortunately didn't get but shout-out to him) who asked us if we had any questions about the menu. My friend and I had already glanced at the menu when we checked in with the host, so we pretty much knew what we wanted. I did ask our server about crust options though and ended up going with the New York style because I didn't have the stomach capacity for the slightly thicker options like Detroit but perhaps next time with a bigger group! We ordered The Standard, which seemed like a good choice because of the diverse, balanced toppings, and the chicories & beets salad. The salad arrived quickly, and the pizza was brought to our table soon after. I liked how refreshing and crisp the salad was, but the pizza was really what I wanted. It was everything I wanted in a pizza - definitely the best choice of the lineup imo. The crust was so soft and pillowy I couldn't resist devouring it all and leaving no trace. I'm very much a crust gal. Glad the plan to hit up Rose Pizzeria didn't work out so that we could discover this gem. With the various styles of pizza options available, there's sure to be something from the menu for everyone here!

We tried a Sicilian style pizza that was super delicious - the crust was thick and fluffy and aromatic, with a perfectly light crunchy bite - no soggy bottoms here, folks! It almost doesn't matter which flavor, but we had the Ray J which was a delightful blend of sweet and savory. In contrast, we also tried a seasonal vegan pizza prepared in the thinner-than-Sicilian Grandma style - this was also delicious and the crust was satisfyingly crunchy. We appreciated the quality ingredients and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The arancini balls were pretty good but the stars were the pizzas. Service was efficient, helpful, and friendly - Laura herself was on hand to make recommendations and answer all our questions. The space had a nice vibe and was clean and comfortable. Parking wasn't too bad - found a spot two blocks away. Will return to try more pizzas, as well as a pasta dish. If you're ever in the area, I do recommend that you check it out. This pizzeria has been around for 3 years and we want it to stick around for a long long time.

Once seated, it was another 10-15 minutes before someone came to take the drink order. It looked like they only had one server working the inside and one outside, which is obviously insufficient on busy days. We read that spicy Caesar is a must, so we ordered one as an appetizer. It was pretty good but I wouldn't go back just for that. The two pizzas we tried were Margherita and classic pepperoni. IMO these two pies should showcase every great pizzeria, and Rose does them well. The pizzas are slightly bigger than Neapolitan pies and cut larger, almost NY style. The drink menu is appropriate for a pizzeria, wine and beer. But all the beers are in cans, no drafts, so I went with house wine instead. The prices are what you'd expect to pay at better pizza places in California nowadays, around $25 for a pizza. For a pizza out of electric oven, Rose is one of the better ones I've had. But compared to brick ovens, I don't think any electric oven pizza will come close. To say the hype around Rose is worth it, would not be truthful. There are definitely better pies in the area. I wouldn't mind going back, but there are other pizzerias in Berkeley that I will give a shot before.

The pizza was also remarkably delicious and reminded me of my experience 20 years ago at a Point Reyes pizza joint where they also used a brick hearth. It's so difficult to find this flavor and has always been just a minute walk from the office. I'm so glad I walked in today and found this place.
