    NY & Hawaiian slices
    Pat P.

Went here for dinner a couple nights ago. Awesome casual pizza spot with reasonable prices and good NY style pizza. Order and pick up at counter. Note that because it's by-the-slice, they make a bunch of cheese pizzas then add toppings to order and reheat the slice. The base pizza itself is quite excellent, extremely thin & crispy, but I found the toppings were a distraction. They were generous with the toppings which is a plus if you really need something on your pizza, but you can tell that they are just sitting on top instead of being baked in. This isn't necessarily a con, as it allows you to have more freedom/choices with toppings, I just didn't like how the flavors blended with this technique. I will definitely be coming back for some plain cheese slices! They often have meal deals (right now it's a free soda with any 2 slices), which you may as well take advantage of.

I am still coming for the real New York pizza in California! I am a true New Yorker lost in California, born and raised in Manhattan NYC. I've been searching since I moved here, and I stumbled on iSlice by accident. I had parked out front to run an errand, but the smell of pizza stopped me in my tracks. I went in--and completely forgot what I came to do. The atmosphere feels like stepping into a true New York City pizzeria, complete with fun NYC-style decorations and friendly energy. There's even outdoor seating, and inside it's bright, clean, and welcoming. The pizza is everything you hope for: golden, crisp edges with the thin dough in the center that perfectly holds the exact cheese and sauce ratio. The sauce tastes like it's made from fresh Italian purée sweet in a natural way, not sugary, like ripe tomatoes straight from a garden. Every bite has the right balance of cheese and sauce, the kind of combination that makes you close your eyes and smile. The staff is warm and makes you feel at home. Their daily special is unbeatable: two huge slices and a can of soda for $10. The slices are so big you could easily share with a friend (if you really wanted to!) not me New Yorkers don't share!!!! Even the bathroom was spotless--bright, clean, and spacious. Parking is generous and right in front, which is a big plus. I see many more iSlice pizza runs in my future. If you miss true New York pizza, this is the spot. Once you try it, you'll be hooked!

Got my pizza and it was all burnt really disappointed. Waited almost 40 min and had to cook instead waisted money and time.

    Supreme Calzone

I went here on a Friday night, it wasn't busy so it was perfect timing and decided to try out their calzones from the menu. I ordered the supreme calzone and it was a big portion I can tell you that. Especially dipping in the marinara sauce, it was delicious. I'd come back and try out their pizza slices. Street Parking is free, and tables are displayed outside for sitting.

Solid family-owned, NY-style pizza joint. If that doesn't draw you in, the scent of fresh-baked pizza honestly will. Every time we walk by their shop on Solano, my bf and I always look at each other and debate heavily if eating pizza midday is worth the afternoon crash. Well, one day, it finally was................. For COVID safety purposes, staff/patrons must wear masks, and hand sanitizer is provided. Their store is small, cramped even-- the way their tables and storage are oriented feel extremely claustrophobic. I'd recommend taking to-go. MUSHROOM PIZZA: Excellent thin crust and cheese-topping ratio. Minimal sauce, but the toppings speak for themselves. VEGGIE PIZZA: Ditto. Super fresh! CANNOLI: Lowkey...... Disappointing.............. Both the shell and ricotta are way too dense, and the filling tastes stale. And doesn't meet at the center (literally empty in the middle). Not great. Very reasonable prices, and the family running the shop is always so sweet.

Brooklyn Pizza Slice and New York Pizza Slice with a squirt. Combo.

Pretty good pizza. We went for a walk at point Isabelle and took my 8 year old and his friend. We wanted some pizza but I didn't want to take them inside anywhere. So we stopped at Islice. The boys both got a slice, chips and a soda. I got the meat combo slice and my husband got the Brooklyn and the New York. The cheese is local and the pizza is thin and crispy. Being able to pick up a slice and eat it outside on solan and people watch was nice. Reasonable prices and everyone left happy. Solid stream of people.

Located on a busy stretch of Solano Avenue on the lower…read moreportion near the San Pablo Avenue intersection on Albany, California, Little Star Pizza is just one of many locations of this burgeoning franchise from owner Brian Sadigursky, who began his mini-pizza making empire of his signature cornmeal crust deep dish pizzas in a small location along Divisadero Street in San Francisco's Nopa neighborhood. That location has since closed down, but two locations remain, this one in Albany and another along Valencia Street in San Francisco's Mission District. The team also owns three The Star pizza restaurants with locations in Oakland, Alameda, and Portland, Oregon. With all these locations to keep track of what makes people keep coming back for all these wide varieties of pizza pies? It's the dough of course, but it is not just any dough, it is their beautifully crusty cornmeal dough that is cooked to perfection for their Chicago-style deep dish pizza that is what makes Little Star and all of their subsidiaries so worthwhile. I had originally been to this location when they were located literally right next door in a smaller location on the corner. Now, in a much larger location, with floor to ceiling windows that let in natural light on two sides, and their own communal parking lot, where there is a door for direct takeout orders, Little Star Pizza is thriving here in Albany. What brought me and a dining mate back for a first time visit to this newer location was the affordable lunchtime deal that they serve seemingly seven days a week. From open until 3 p.m. diners can order a Personal Signature Pizza either Deep Dish or Thin Crust for only 11 dollars. You can also build your own personal pizza for 9 dollars which is an affordable option. My fellow dining mate and I knew we wanted to select from their Seasonal Specials or their Signature Pies. I decided to order their Personal size All-Star Signature Pie, which was topped with bacon, meatballs, sausage, pepperoni, provolone cheese and served on their signature cornmeal crust, then filled with mozzarella cheese and house-made tomato sauce & finished with parmesan & oregano. My dining mate was intrigued by their Specials menu, and their Personal size Sweet Heat, which was topped with spicy sausage, caramelized red onions, cherry peppers, hot honey and served on their signature cornmeal crust, then filled with mozzarella cheese and house-made tomato sauce & finished with parmesan & oregano. Since both pizzas were so affordable at 11 dollars each, we decided to splurge and order two dessert drinks as I ordered their Golden Gate Orange Soda Float and my dining mate ordered their Dad's Root Beer Soda Float. The wait for our personal size pizzas would be a lengthy one, at least twenty minutes, which for about a nine inch pizza pie, is still a considerable amount of time. But once you do get the pizzas you order, I can report it is well worth the wait, as the pizza has that extra special graininess to it that makes it extra special good. Combined with the fresh tomatoes and an abundance of mozzarella cheese, you cannot go wrong with any type of pizza you order. I liked my All-Star pizza pie with its abundance of meat toppings and I tried my dining mates Sweet Heat pizza pie and it came as delivered as it has a combination of sweetness meets spiciness. Luckily our wait wasn't too long, as we had our ice cream and soda floats to keep us satiated while we waited for our pizzas to be handcrafted. Our total bill was $42.08, which was with tax but before gratuity, which in all reality was very reasonable considering we ordered two rather large personal deep dish pizzas, and our floats were a mere fraction less in terms of pricing. Since they have a Happy Hour on weeknights from 3-5:30 p.m. with reasonably priced cocktails, one-topping pizzas and other menu items at affordable pricing, you better believe it will not be another decade that passes by before I make another appearance. Here's to the continued success of Little Star Pizza, may more locations be in the future, and may their current locations continue to thrive thanks to their delectable Signature Deep Dish pizzas!

It's our neighborhood go-to, and we eat here at least once a week because the pizza is truly excellent. For nearly two decades, the staff was always friendly, but over the last couple of years, the front-of-house service has drastically gone downhill. The people taking the orders consistently seem like they don't want to be there. I've been overlooking the cold attitude for a while now because we love the food, but my experience today was the last straw. I ordered a whole pie and politely asked to have it double-sliced. The cashier looked visibly annoyed by a simple, standard request. It got worse when the pizza was ready: after she handed me the box, I kindly asked for a few paper plates. She literally threw the plates at me with a glaring look of unhappiness. I was honestly in shock by her behavior. Stunned, I asked her what her name was, and she flat-out refused to tell me. There is absolutely no reason to treat a regular, polite customer with that level of hostility over plates and a name request. I believe people need to be held accountable for how they treat others, especially in customer service. Looking at other recent reviews, I see that I'm definitely not the only one feeling this way. Gioia has been one of our absolute favorite pizzerias in Berkeley for over 20 years, but it's a shame to see a great neighborhood spot ruined by the attitude of the people taking orders. I am truly hoping management and the owners will read this and take real action. The food is still great, but the toxic energy at the front counter is ruining the experience, and loyal customers shouldn't be treated like an inconvenience. This incident happened today at 1130am.

As the name suggests, it's very thin and crispy and I loved the texture. Great as an appetizer pizza lol. Thick square focaccia style pizza is definitely my preference, which is why the Ray J Sicilian was my favorite here. The toppings are generous, love the large chunks of cheese and the hot honey on this one. The arancini we got was also amazing, it had a slight lemony tang to it and some veggies inside which balanced out all the fried cheesiness in it. Would super recommend Pizzeria da Laura, and come in a large party if you can! I think my only downside is the bathroom situation as you have to take a key to take the elevator downstairs and it was hard to get a hold of the key, but maybe try to come at a less busy time. This is Neo-Neapolitan pizza done right: bright, fresh tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, torn basil, and a beautifully balanced crust with a perfectly thin base, nicely charred underside, and those airy, leopard-spotted edges that make wood-fired pizza so satisfying. Simple, restrained, and incredibly well executed. It was an unusually warm evening, so I opted to sit outside. The takeout experience is mostly good, but a few things could be better. I'd like the option to remove onions from my takeout pizza. And: Lately the chopped salad has been presented in a plastic takeout box with the ingredients separated into other plastic containers. This leaves the customer to basically create the salad from the ingredients, then deal with a bunch of plastic waste. Better to go back to the old method: compostable box with the ingredients tossed by Benchmark, giving the customer the option to have Benchmark toss the dressing or do it themselves. When I order an expensive salad, I expect a salad, not a collection of separate ingredients for me to mix myself. And the plastic detracts from the experience and adds waste to the environment.
