My dad used to take me to this Papa Murphy's in Pinole to order pizzas when I was younger, so coming back after not having it for a long time brought back some memories! The staff was very friendly and helpful with answering my questions. The prices are also pretty affordable, especially for a large pizza. Just remember, Papa Murphy's is take-and-bake, so they don't cook the pizza for you. You take it home and bake it fresh whenever you're ready. The pizzas are good & they have a lot of toppings! I bought my favorite pizza the Cowboy Family because it's Tuesday discount day! Remember to order online for your discount price on your pizza. Service is great not too busy too. But my family Cowboy didn't have much toppings plus it was only on the pizza 3/4 of the pizza. The 2" of the outer ring didn't have anything! Did the store get bought out? New owners? I've been coming here for many yrs. I will try again & see if it's the same or not! They need to put more toppings on them pizzas. My family would order here when I was younger, and they would usually have friendly, quick service. The last time I ordered from here, the service was average, but they messed up my order. Approximately 5 months have passed, and I decided to order again. I ordered 4 items total "Chicken Bacon Stuffed" pizza. I requested no onions on the pizza. They put a very generous amount of onions on the pizza despite my request to not do this. I ordered "Cowboy". No issues. I also ordered "Cinnamon Monkey bread" which states it comes with a side of icing. I ordered an extra side. Upon entering the building, I said I was there for pickup and gave the name. The employee looked for the order, then handed me a single pizza. I informed them that I ordered 2 pizzas and a side of the cinnamon bread. They looked at the shelf again and asked me to repeat the name on the order. I repeated the name, they grabbed the 2nd pizza off the shelf, and handed it to me. I repeated that I ordered a side of cinnamon bread. They walked away, and another employee took over and grabbed a side of the bread, then a side of the icing. A third employee came to give me the side of icing and pretended to throw it at my face while laughing. I left the building and sat in my car and looked over the order, and realized I was missing a side of icing. I went back in and spoke with whom I assumed was the manager and informed them of my missing side item. I was given my item and went home. After cooking the stuffed pizza for 45 minutes and realizing it's filled with large chunks of onion, I was extremely disappointed at the fact they got my order wrong. You could imagine how upsetting it would be to not only spend 21$ on a pizza but to cook it yourself only to find you've wasted an hour of your life because the employee put 10% effort in due to the company paying them pocket lint and a stick of gum per day in wages. Why would the minimum wage employee care if your order is wrong? Honestly. At the end of the day, I guess I should have known better than to order an item with a topping I dislike while specifically requesting that item not be applied. I should have expected the order to be messed up, considering they usually do mess up the orders, at least in my experience. Tried to contact the store regarding this issue. They hung up without even speaking to me. Twice. 10/10 customer service. read more

It's possibly not possible to have a fresher chain-restaurant pizza, even though you may arguably argue with my arguable claim, than at Papa Murphy's. I love the concept as everything is made fresh on order, and I get to bake it whenever I want to. I love both their DeLite and Original crusts --- the DeLite for the intensity of flavour that only a thin crust can allow, and the Original for that unmistakable rumble of satiety after two slices. My current favourite is the lemon-pepper chicken with salami dancing on a bed of spinach, mushrooms and zucchini roundels over a layer of herbed tomato sauce. It's hard to go wrong with this pizza; just follow the simple instructions and even Forest Gump would find it hard not to get it right the first time. With their very friendly staff and equally quick service, their lovely $10 Tuesdays (any size pizza, same price; I don't know why anyone would go for anything smaller than the 'family' size) makes an already sweet deal even sweeter. read more

I walked in for my pick up order and started to pay the cashier and noticed a young lady with dyed green hair making pizzas with her hair in a loose ponytail and it was waving over the front of her shoulders and over the pizza crusts she was putting sauce on. .... I was instantly grossed out. I asked the cashier and quietly just said , " Don't you guys think she should wear a hair cap?" I mean that's kind of gross " He replies, Oh they don't provide us with those. ...I said" Wow! Okay who's your manager Id like to speak to him about that". He replies that he's not here. I asked for a business card, and he replies he doesn't have any. So pretty much I was shuffled off. This is unacceptable and against Health and Safety Code. I was going to a Super Bowl party in the Bay Area and was asked to pick up a couple Papa Murphy's pizzas on my way down. To prevent me from having to wait I ordered them online figuring I'd save some time. This was not the case. My pickup time was 1:15 and I got there around 1:20 and had 3 people ahead of me. They had pickup orders on the counter but I didn't see mine so I had to wait in line. When I got up there the girl said they weren't finished with one of the pizzas and it would be a few minutes. It was 1:45 when I got the pizzas and got back on the road. It's crazy that I still had to wait 30 minutes. The pizzas had all the toppings piled in the center of the pizzas??? We spread them out and the good thing was they were yummy which made up for a little of my earlier disappointment. My partner loves pizza. So, even though we had Valentine's Day plans I thought I'd surprise him with Papa Murphy's HeartBaker Pizza the day before. That morning, I had heard about it on the radio, I researched it online, and it seemed like for at least 2 years now around Valentine's Day they have this deal for a heart shaped pepperoni pizza (for about $9) with the option to bundle it or even customize it (for more money). Anyway, a friend had previously mentioned this place and raved about their take and bake. I had never heard of it or the concept before and thought I'd give this special a try. The online ordering was easy enough. Upon arriving, I was warmly greeted and my pizza was ready. Upon first seeing it, I was kind of disappointed. I knew the heart was there but if I didn't tell my partner to look for it, I don't know if he would've seen it. The pizza was on a flimsy plate which made it hard to keep the pizza level when driving alone. When I got home to bake the pizza with my partner, we found out that the ridiculous Bay Area rent we pay doesn't get us a normal sized oven. We had to curve the pizza plate to make it fit, but alas it cooked. It came out and looked slightly more heart-like than when uncooked. Now I am not usually this picky about my foods presentation but let's be honest, I only came here for the heart. Also, I've ordered heart shaped pizzas from one of the larger chain pizza spots and was impressed. Overall, I'm unclear if I would go out of my way for this deal again. On line ordered pizza and calzone so the wife could pickup on her way home. Received a call they are out of calzone and was offered a refund or option, switched to the chicken cesar salad. My wife shows up 45 minutes later and the door is locked. Employee comes to the door and says there not taking walk in orders because the manager is on vacation and short staffed. They let her in when she said placed on line and paid. Pizza wasn't prepared so she has to wait, on line says 31 minutes. She noticed there was only a couple orders prepared so why after 45 minutes isn't our pizza ready. There is a $3.99 difference in price between calzone and salad but they cant give refunds because the manager isn't there, guess that turned into an additional tip. Employees are dressed sloppily wearing a T shirts no uniform, very unprofessional. These last two experiences at this location have not been good, the owner need to hire a team that's willing to give the service they used to have. read more

One of my WORST experiences here. I order 3 pizzas. 1 Large 5 meat stuffed, 1 family size Jack-O-Lantern, and 1 large "papa's perfect" (1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 Hawaiian). My "papa's perfect" was FAR from perfect. No pineapple, and less than 1/2 of the pizza had ham. I've worked fast food, and have 2 and a half years (management) experience working with pizza. I understand that it's the day before Halloween, it's close to closing, and that you're establishment was busy. But there's absolutely NO reason for the screw up tonight. I call in to speak with a manager. There's no manager until tomorrow. WHAT?! I explain to the person who answered the phone (Mark) what happened. He said I could call back tomorrow when there's a manager here and they'll probably give you 50% off. I ask what I'm supposed to do with the pizza, he tells me you can throw it away... So I ask what I'm supposed to eat.. He's like well you could eat it. I ask who closes the store since they have no manager there, he says a bunch of coworkers.. WOW! I have heard such great things about Papa Murphy's, but I was worried; I have a normal oven surely I can't replicate some pizza place's oven. I was so wrong! I used the awesome instructions they give with each prepared Pizza and my Stuffed Crust Chicago Style came out with the best dough I have had on a Pizza! I usually trash the crust ends but I found myself eating the crust before the rest of the pizza. The dough is amazing you can tell they put love into it, the toppings are fresh and amazing, the sauce nice, the meat great! For 15 dollars I took home a pizza that tasted like I should have went to SF and spent 40 to 50 dollars. And the service, wow amazing and so nice. These guys know what they are doing and seem to love where they work. The location is such a small unassuming little store next to a subway and I just can't get over the service. You guys totally rock! Whoever was working Sunday Dec 27th in the 11 am to afternoon deserves points. We were gonna get Pizza at Costco and the wait was like an hour and the girl freaked out when I mentioned what I had heard about Papa Murphy's. I am a regular and figured I owed them a review. I always order in advance on-line and my pizza is reliably ready on time. I think that is the best way to go rather than sit in the store and wait. Generally the preparation is very good. Sometimes it is better normal, but I can't say I have ever been disappointed. They offer good pizza at a good price. Tuesday specials of any large for $12 and any family for $15 is a really good deal. And I would rather bake it at home and have it really hot than pick up a hot pizza and have it only warm when I get home. It takes less than 15 minutes to cook. As someone who's known in her circle for being a bit of a food snob, I never thought I'd be reviewing a small town chain take 'n bake pizza shop, but here I am, admitting that I go to one, and giving it 5 stars. While driving by with my brother yesterday, on a whim, he decided, "I want pizza. Do you mind coming to Papa Murphy's with me?" Sure, whatevs. As we drove up, there was a large poster on their window that said something to the effect of them now having a $10 any pizza, any size, on Tuesdays, promotion. Yesterday was Tuesday. Score! We decided that we wanted one thin crust and one thick crust. He picked a chicken DeLite, and I picked the stuffed chicken bacon. While waiting around, we gravitated to their fridge and he ended up picking up a S'MORES pizza, too. The total bill? $23. $10 for each pizza, including the MONSTROUS stuffed one that I picked, and the s'mores pizza was $3 (it's about a foot in diameter). We felt like we were stealing. Then we went home where the magic happened in the kitchen! We were able to get both the dessert pizza and the thin crust in at the same time without overlapping in the oven, then we baked the stuffed one. They were all so good! The stuffed one is literally stuffed. At a lot of pizzerias that I've gone to, stuffed simply means thick Chicago-style pizza, but here, they actually put another piece of dough on top. This particular chicken bacon combination tasted like a Costco chicken bake. So good. Our only complaint is the super chew crust of their thicker pizzas and the dessert one, but that's literally our only complaint. It's otherwise tasty, tasty pizza. And the real icing on the cake -- how nice everyone at the store is. I've actually been here before quite a few times in high school and I remember every one being really nice. The people may have changed, but they still deliver consistently good customer service, from the person who takes your phone order and the one who rings you up, to the person who actually makes your pizza. By the way, I've been on a pretty strict workout and nutrition plan, so this was obviously not part of the program, but it smelled and looked so good that I couldn't help but indulge a little in my brother's cravings. In that comparison Papa Murphy's is 5 stars, Safeway & Costco 3 stars, and frozen 1 star. This is uncooked, pick up pizza that is made with generous proportions of fresh toppings, a very good sauce, and real, from dough crust. We find it quite tasty and, at $10 to $15 for large & family-size, the pizzas are dramatically cheaper than pizza from Extreme or Round Table. At the Pinole location the staff is friendly and good at turning out the pizzas. Give 'em a try. read more

Since it's take and bake I always buy 2 and stash one in the fridge for later. 4.) Cookie dough. OMG their cookie dough is amazing. If you want a good desert, please don't forget to get a mini tub. My favorite combo: peperoni, extra pineapple, onions & jalapenos. The way I cook: oven 450 degrees for 9 minutes. Then remove cardboard cooking tray, place on bare oven rack and cook for an extra 4 minutes to get it perfectly crispy. Remove from oven and DO WORK. I don't eat their pizza, but my BF's kids (4 of 'em ages 10-16) love the Chicago Stuffed. It's the only pizza the kids like from there because it's got enough of everything stuffed into it. It fills them all up and I don't have to get 2 pizzas, so I figure I'm saving money since I only have to buy one large pizza and it's $10 cheaper than "regular" pizza. The staff here has always been nice and they make the pizzas upon your order (no pre-mades) and they make it fairly quickly. Continuing my search for the best pizza near home, I finally caved in and tried Papa Murphy's. I'm not a big fan of take-n-bake. Mostly because I don't want to risk burning the pizza crust. But because of a pizza deal, I visited. The pizza was assembled quickly and saran-wrapped and I was out. The place is small and full of people waiting for the their order. They also sell cookies and other sweets to bake. Once home, I followed the instructions to a T. The result was a pretty good pizza! The crust was crispy thanks to my special crispy crust pizza sheet and the toppings were tasty. I was surprised. For the price range and quality, it's better than frozen but not gourmet. I normally go to the Vallejo store, which is great, but yesterday I was working in Pinole so I thought I'd give the Pinole store a try. Pizza is decent but customer service is a disaster at this store I wanted to place my order over the phone before I left work so I could swing by and pick up on the way home. Called them twice, they didn't pick up the phone either time, even after I let it ring for 2 or 3 minutes So I went into the store and waited in line about 10 minutes to place my order. When I tried to make an ingredient substitution, the girl taking my order first rolled her eyes said "we cant do substitutions" (I've never had a problem asking for a substitution at the Vallejo store). Then she said it would be an extra dollar to do the substitution, which I agreed to.
