San Francisco has great places to eat pizza. There is a pizza parlor for each neighborhood. Having tried the majority of the pizza spots in San Francisco I decided to go to Berkeley. The city of Berkeley has brought good pizza recently to San Francisco like Rose Pizzeria. Going to Berkeley I have experienced great pizza places which are not located in SF. Berkeley has some great pizza places such as the Cheeseboard , Pizzeria da Laura and for the best Chicago style pizza at Zachary's Pizza ( actual fresher ingredients than most of Chicago )which both have no locations in SF. There a different pizza spot in Berkeley which serves fresh pizza with local ingredients and there is no spot in SF and it's called Sliver pizza. On a Summer day stroll in the sun in Berkeley I landed at the Telegraph Avenue. Inside there are plenty of seating and they do not accept cash. I ordered their POD also known as Pizza Of the Day. It had the Mushroom, red onions, green scallions , and it had a lemon zest which was sour like some in SF. It was a little cheesy and the sourdough crust was soft. It was tasty and you can taste the field to table ingredients in the pizza. They also have interesting pizza like the Cherry Corn Pizza like I saw on my social media feed. When in Berkeley you must try Sliver Pizzeria. Go to Berkeley for this is a "must" because they have a sourdough "crust" is a "plus" it's not too cheesy and very delicious and leaves some pizza places in SF in the "dust" This pizza place is to eat inside , pick up, and they do "deliver" I rate it more on gold standard side than "silver" fresh ingredients from the "Salinas River" at a pizza place in Berkeley on Telegraph called "Sliver" read more

Amazing pizza, great location, lots of interior space, slight sus bathroom... Food: Sliver is probably one of my favorite pizza shops in the bay, maybe in general. I went last week and they had a summer corn pizza that was loaded with juicy kernels of corn, fresh tomatoes and peppers, plus a ton of parsley for garnish. I am a corn fan so I knew I'd like this flavor. And I wasn't disappointed. Sauce: Sliver could even be more well known for its sauces. You have to try the green sauce! Perfect blend of savoriness, freshness, and a kick of heat! Location: right off the Berkeley BART station, This shop is super easy to transit to whether you're taking bus or the bart. Lots parking nearby too. Bathroom: maybe I just went too early in the day before the employees had time to clean up the bathroom, but it had no toilet paper, no seat covers, no paper towels, and the hand soap was simply in a cup that you had to dip your fingers into... kinda sus? I used to come to sliver all the time in undergrad 5 years ago and it was amazing, but I recently moved back and the quality is terrible now. The pizza here is so greasy and has way too much cheese that it makes the pizza soggy. They used to have a nice crispy thin crust. Bring back the thin crust and stop adding so much cheese you can't taste the other flavors! With two slices, you usually get a free half of a slice (sliver). Perfect for brunch, lunch, dinner or breakfast leftovers. Crust is thin with an airy crispness. Toppings are abundant, fresh and so incredibly satisfying. The green sauce puts it over the top, elevating the toppings flavor that much more. We visit Sliver whenever we come to Berkeley and it never disappoints. The pizza is always hot and fresh and the flavors are great! Previously I wouldn't have liked that you only have one pizza flavor to choose from, but they've all been great and with the green sauce, even better! The service is always fast and friendly, though I will say we tend to pop in during odd hours of the day (like mid afternoon) so it's never crowded when we go. I've been going to Sliver for over 10 years and would have considered myself one of its biggest fans. My friends and I used to plan our days around coming here because it was one of our favorite places. Today was honestly heartbreaking. The quality has completely collapsed. The pizza was so limp it literally folded over under its own weight, and I couldn't even finish my slice. But the bigger issue is that Sliver has abandoned the concept that made it special. Instead of the creative, thoughtfully crafted pizzas that made people love this place, the menu has been filled with literal slop. Nobody I know comes here anymore because it isn't the same restaurant we fell in love with. It's sad to watch a Berkeley institution lose its identity. I genuinely hope management listens to longtime customers and gets back to what made Sliver special, because in its current state I can't recommend it less. read more

I used to enjoy Sliver in downtown Berkeley because their pizza had a decent crust (ex-pat NY'er here). Tonight we went to the Lafayette branch expecting the same. Their crust was doughy and undercooked. I've had better frozen pizza. They also have a menu of over a dozen varieties and promise yours will be ready in 8 minutes. I enjoy coming here for lunch when I'm at work. You can get a slice of the pizza of the day for $5 right now! This is perfect especially it being near a college campus. All pizzas are vegetarian and I enjoy the pizzas being so unique. Who would of thought of putting corn on your pizzas and it being really good? Not me! Sooo good! I am going to be honest here, and I am not a fan. I don't usually like pizza, but my standards are high. The pizza is THIN and greasy, the flavor is completely overshadowed by the grease, you can't even taste the flavors of the pizza and toppings because of the sheer layer of GREASE on each slice. It is disappointing to say the least. The sauce they give you for their white pizza has random hints of spice but is, for the most part, flavorless. Finally tried sliver and it was great! They only have one pizza flavor per day and the day I went was Yukon potatoes and corn and it was delightful. The corn was sweet but there wasn't a crazy amount which can over power the pizza and the potatoes were crispy even though it was on top of a pizza and under cheese. Also they had this cilantro pesto sauce which is so delectable to have with the pizza. My favorite part is the tiny sliver of pizza they put on top of every order it's so cute. Service is super fast as the pizza is already made, they just warm it up and pack it in a box before handing it to you. Always perfectly hot, tasty combination of non-meat ingredients, kind of perfect tomato sauce - but OMG... their crust is always awesome. My friend was always trying to get me to eat here and I was always like "Hell no! I ain't eatin' no vegetarian pizza! I want my pepperoni!" (Let's face it. Pepperoni IS life.) i'm heartbroken. no actually i'm pissed. i have been coming to sliver for over 10 years and I legit considered it one of my favorite restaurants of all time. today i walked in and just immediately was so off put by the drastic changes they have made. they have completely abandoned their entire business model of having one kind of pizza per day, that was always beautifully crafted with care. instead you can order whatever the hell you want now like waffle fries??? wings??? why are they serving weird ass meat pizzas now. don't get me wrong- i actually eat meat. but that's not what i come here for. it feels like a completely different restaurant. it's tacky. it's tasteless. the pizza tasted awful it was a complete grease ball oil bomb that flapped like a writhing fish right out of my hand. an abomination. an obscene scene right here in berkeley. one less reason to move back here i guess. read more

Did a personal curated pizza tour last Friday March 7th in Oakland/Berkeley area and went to 4 pizza spots. This was stop #2. What caught my eye was the number of reviews, stars, and the green sauce in the pictures. My thoughts went straight to.... this looks just like cheese board. Like cheese board, they do pizza of the day. There was no one here on a Friday afternoon which was off putting. I got one slice but it really came with 2 decent sized slices. It was nice that it was freshly made. I loved the toppings on this particular day. The pizza was good! I liked how it had a crust that held up on its own and they did not skimp on the cheese. Honestly really good pizza. Still doesn't beat cheese board, but definitely up there on my pizza list. Friendly staff, clean bathroom and A+ for their music selection. We haven't grabbed a pie at Sliver in a while and part of the reason is that often the pie of the day isn't something we crave. Tonight we stopped by and they had mushrooms, feta, mozzarella, red onions red sauce etc and we went for it. Lot of pizza for $30 and I like that they toss extra slices on top - we couldn't barely eat half of it so we packed it to go. They have gotten kinda restrictive with water cups and those teenie tiny containers for the green and red dipping sauces - which is ridiculous. A thorough wipe down of tables would also be appreciated and the guy who sat there playing their piano loud and badly our entire meal was also not a welcome addition to what was a good pizza.
