San Francisco has great places to eat pizza. There is a pizza parlor for each neighborhood. Having tried the majority of the pizza spots in San Francisco I decided to go to Berkeley. The city of Berkeley has brought good pizza recently to San Francisco like Rose Pizzeria. Going to Berkeley I have experienced great pizza places which are not located in SF. Berkeley has some great pizza places such as the Cheeseboard , Pizzeria da Laura and for the best Chicago style pizza at Zachary's Pizza ( actual fresher ingredients than most of Chicago )which both have no locations in SF. There a different pizza spot in Berkeley which serves fresh pizza with local ingredients and there is no spot in SF and it's called Sliver pizza. On a Summer day stroll in the sun in Berkeley I landed at the Telegraph Avenue. Inside there are plenty of seating and they do not accept cash. I ordered their POD also known as Pizza Of the Day. It had the Mushroom, red onions, green scallions , and it had a lemon zest which was sour like some in SF. It was a little cheesy and the sourdough crust was soft. It was tasty and you can taste the field to table ingredients in the pizza. They also have interesting pizza like the Cherry Corn Pizza like I saw on my social media feed. When in Berkeley you must try Sliver Pizzeria. Go to Berkeley for this is a "must" because they have a sourdough "crust" is a "plus" it's not too cheesy and very delicious and leaves some pizza places in SF in the "dust" This pizza place is to eat inside , pick up, and they do "deliver" I rate it more on gold standard side than "silver" fresh ingredients from the "Salinas River" at a pizza place in Berkeley on Telegraph called "Sliver"
Fast service. Fresh ingredients. Always satisfied. The pizza of the day changes daily and can be found on their website. A few steps from Downtown Berkeley Bart station is Sliver Pizzeria. With two slices, you usually get a free half of a slice (sliver). Perfect for brunch, lunch, dinner or breakfast leftovers. Crust is thin with an airy crispness. Toppings are abundant, fresh and so incredibly satisfying. The green sauce puts it over the top, elevating the toppings flavor that much more. I have never gone wrong stopping in and enjoying a slice or two, unlikely you will either. You can stay and eat or take it to go. Either way you have it you will most certainly enjoy!
This was my first time here. At the same time, quite a few choices and ways that you could order Pizza. I didn't really see any of the old school, regular kinds like pepperoni or combination. The pizza hustle selections were very creative. I ordered the Mushroom Pizza -2 slices. It came with 2 slices and what they call a sliver. It was a pretty good amount of food for $8. My Pizza was pretty tasty. I would definitely go again and try something else off of the menu.
Pretty good pizza! Their signature extra slivers are pretty large additional portions which was nice. I liked that the crust was thin, but the slice overall felt a bit greasy and not as refined/clean. It's a good spot with fun rotating flavors though!
We visit Sliver whenever we come to Berkeley and it never disappoints. The pizza is always hot and fresh and the flavors are great! Previously I wouldn't have liked that you only have one pizza flavor to choose from, but they've all been great and with the green sauce, even better! The service is always fast and friendly, though I will say we tend to pop in during odd hours of the day (like mid afternoon) so it's never crowded when we go. The interior is clean enough and pretty spacious. A good place to hang out with friends and enjoy some pizza.
Had to come here when visiting berkeley. I've always ordered from the store on shattuck so this was my first time here after graduating years ago. I was psyched that the slice of the day had both corn and potato - the 2 pizza toppings I realized I loved after having them on a sliver's pizza. Sad that they just give you a tiny container of the green sauce now. I remember filling a cup up with that stuff before in college. Delicious as always.
Quick service and great pizza. Similar to cheese board in the sense of one type of menu offering per day. Got the corn pizza and it was great. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area, the wait on a Saturday wasn't long there was no line and only took about 5-10 minutes for a whole pizza. Expensive though for a pizza ($30).
Corn pizza! This spot really shines in its daily different ways pizzas with fresh ingredients! There's no line to wait and the whole pie comes out within minutes. Service is kind and will give water cups. It's a causal spot and spacious restaurant with table and booth seating!
I've been going to Sliver for over 10 years and would have considered myself one of its biggest fans. My friends and I used to plan our days around coming here because it was one of our favorite places. Today was honestly heartbreaking. The quality has completely collapsed. The pizza was so limp it literally folded over under its own weight, and I couldn't even finish my slice. But the bigger issue is that Sliver has abandoned the concept that made it special. Instead of the creative, thoughtfully crafted pizzas that made people love this place, the menu has been filled with literal slop. Nobody I know comes here anymore because it isn't the same restaurant we fell in love with. It's sad to watch a Berkeley institution lose its identity. I genuinely hope management listens to longtime customers and gets back to what made Sliver special, because in its current state I can't recommend it less.
Sliver never disappoints! Fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly, extra cheesy, and full of flavor! We love the corn and asparagus toppings as well as their mushroom pizzas. You can't forget the green sauce either. Staff was super friendly and they had cute holiday decor. We will be back!
a berkeley classic! their green sauce is amazing as always (and I don't usually like cilantro). I ordered a slice of the daily special as a snack and of course it came with a sliver! I personally love it when their pizza comes with corn (their menu rotates daily) and FYI all their pizzas are vegetarian. Sliver reminds me of Cheeseboard but is more conveniently located near campus/southside. Usually my friends and I would order a whole box and share the whole thing. Service is very fast and you bus your own table.
You don't have to stand and hold up the line anymore because there's only one pizza option on the menu. The staff is friendly and they'll get you your order in about 5-10 minutes. Plenty of seating, such as tables, benches, or a couch. The pizza will come with green sauce, which you can feel free to smother all over your slivers. The green sauce provides some freshness and acidity to the savoriness and cheesiness of the pizza. A go-to spot for me in Berkeley.

We love Sliver Pizzeria because it serves delicious pizza and it is committed to fighting human trafficking. Their team also believes in the "field to table" concept and focuses in sourcing fresh produce ingredients. This location is more spacious than the previous one at Center Street. With the move, it joined a lot of eateries along Telegraph Avenue. If we're nearby, we always check the Pizza of the Day from their website. Cremini mushroom and corn are the ingredients that we always keep an eye on. If they're available, then there's a big chance we will come. We haven't grabbed a pie at Sliver in a while and part of the reason is that often the pie of the day isn't something we crave. Tonight we stopped by and they had mushrooms, feta, mozzarella, red onions red sauce etc and we went for it. Lot of pizza for $30 and I like that they toss extra slices on top - we couldn't barely eat half of it so we packed it to go. They have gotten kinda restrictive with water cups and those teenie tiny containers for the green and red dipping sauces - which is ridiculous. A thorough wipe down of tables would also be appreciated and the guy who sat there playing their piano loud and badly our entire meal was also not a welcome addition to what was a good pizza. Big spacious inside with lots of Halloween decor already! They have a pizza flavor of the day which is pretty cool. The slices are fairly thin, and this one came with an amazing dipping sauce - tangy with lime and cilantro. Made for a great picnic meal. Ordered two and they came out pretty fast! There's options for parking along the street and nearby, but it is pretty filled up so you might have to drive by multiple spots to find a lot with an opening, especially on game day for Berkeley. read more

The corn pizza is amazing here!!! Definitely get it if they have it on the day they go since they change the type of pizza everyday. It's a cheese-based pizza and is similar to like a flat bread almost. It's also super cute because they put tiny slivers of pizza on top of it. The service is very fast and they heat it right there for you! Inside is spacious and super clean as well. Definitely a Berkeley staple if you're craving a thinner pizza w/ the perfect amount of cheese & toppings! Make sure to squeeze a little lime and dip it in the green sauce!!! read more

Corn and potato pizza here has my heart I've been going to Sliver since I was in college, and it's great to see they have more locations. This one is extra roomy, great for big groups! Only thing is it's in a busy area - I'd walk or Uber instead of driving. Look online for what the flavor of the day is! read more

Berkeley staple. Been coming to sliver since undergrad when it was originally just a storefront on Center, but it has definitely grown so much. Service is average. Definitely more of a hangout spot now instead of just eating. Lots of big tables for large parties of people. Really like how the menu changes everyday. Their best pizzas are the ones with potatoes or mushrooms! Smart idea to make all the pizzas vegetarian to appeal to more people! read more

Corn and tomato Sliver slice with the green dipping sauce is probably as close to heaven as a food will get. Every time we are in Berkeley, we stop in this place to get some pizza. When I was a young undergrad working on campus at the Graduate Assembly, we'd often have events that necessitated vast amounts of vegan/vegetarian friendly food that was delicious. Funny enough, now years after graduation, this might be my actual first time dining in and paying for the food with my own money. I usually must have meat with my meals, but Sliver's daily rotating menu of pizzas are so good, that I'm willing to go vegetarian just because the combinations are so perfect. By also including the infamous green sauce, the pizza reaches a whole level that my puny brain can't comprehend. Unfortunately, it sucks that there isn't more fierce competition with Cheese Board whose hours are the antithesis of good business practice. read more
This place is reminiscent of the Cheeseboard pizza in North Berkeley but location wise is more conveniently located near Berkeley campus. Similarly they have limited types of flavors each day so it's good to check the menu before showing up if you have certain food preferences. Delicious pizza! Nice and thin style. Good amount of chew to it. Veggies!! Fun flavors and concept for Berkeley style pizza. There's just one pizza flavor (veggie only) of the day. We happened to come on the day they had curry pizza. The flavor was lovely! Very aromatic curry flavor which was bright, and the yukon gold potatoes were cooked perfectly. Tender. The pizza was nice and cheesy with mozzarella and feta cheese. It was a fun pizza to try and I like how creative the veggie pizzas get. Very unique. The green sauce was pretty good with the pizza as everyone recommends. Very strong acidic kick to the salsa. I preferred the green sauce over the red sauce. It was pretty quick to get our slices and they even give you a little extra sliver of pizza! Cute!! read more

My first time here, happy to report that they do give extra slices at this location! I heard they don't at the EB location. It was a bit crowded on Sat night but not too loud and was still able to snag a table. The green sauce is really good (almost like chimmichurri?), the orange had a sweet spicy kick to it. Parking can be tricky but there are spots nearby if you don't mind walking a block or two. read more

Today's slice: corn, Roma tomatoes, cilantro garlic olive oil, French feta, mozzarella, key lime. There are no words to describe this pizza. The slices are an ok snack size. Super yummy. Since covid started, Sliver no longer has the green cilantro lime sauce available for self serve. As a result, they provide the sauce in these tiny containers and limit how many you can get depending on how many slices you order. It's extremely unfortunate because for an entire pizza, they only gave us 5 tiny containers, but gave someone who ordered 2 slices, 2 containers. It's just a bit disappointing since the sauce is what makes their pizza so good. Today was the first time I've tried their curry potato pizza and I think it's their best pizza yet! I'm glad that they have multiple locations now so I can now pick which location I want to go to depending on what they're serving for the day. read more

I have not had sliver in a while but I noticed that the crust is now sourdough, making it extra chewy and the green sauce is not as spicy as it used to be. for a carby, greasy indulgence, I would come to sliver. for better crust and cheese, I would go to Cheeseboard up North Berkeley. read more
Sliver hits the spot for a very solid pizza that satisfies your craving without breaking the bank. I'm usually not a fan of thinner crust but these pizzas are loaded with flavor. Even the cheese is THICK and cheesy so it's satisfying. We tried a Mexican inspired daily special with corn, lime, and other toppings that was very solid on its own. We shared two full among four hungry hikers and felt QUITE satisfied upon leaving. The complimentary green sauce was decent but nothing that special imo. It tasted something like a salsa more than an herb sauce which I would have expected. I liked it with the cheese, but the special is well crafted in its own and didn't need it. Sliver is it interesting pizza spot. It's hard to review because they only serve a few things namely cheese pizza and a specialty pizza, but that specialty pizza of changes daily. So every time you go to Sliver you going to have a slightly different experience depending on what you like on your pizza. But I will say, if you enjoy the toppings on the day's specialty pizza, you can be guaranteed a well-crafted pie with fantastic flavor. Sliver itself is rather than no frills, you order from a counter grab your food once it's done and choose a table. But definitely what it lacks in pizzazz it makes up for in pizza. Our pizza came out piping hot, and from the first bite into the thin but deliciously chewy slice of cheese I tired first I was hooked. And by the end, I was stuffed, with two pizzas enough to feed myself and three hungry friends. Sliver is also known for its sauces that you can use to enhance the flavor of your pizza, or maybe you'll use the pizza to enhance the flavor of sauce. The savory herb-filled green sauce is delicious by itself, and you might find yourself taking it home to put on anything and everything you might eat for the next few days. Had the chance to finally try Sliver and boy was it amazing. We had just finished a long hike and after wanted a quick bite to eat - and Sliver was just perfect. Ended up ordering on Grubhub online for pickup - and when we got there the pizza was ready, with everything already packed up which was awesome. When I brought the pizza to the car it was piping hot and crisp and I was here for it!! The pizza that we got had squash, small tomatoes, corn and basil pesto. It was thin, crispy and very delicious. They also gave me plenty of green sauce on the side which made the whole experience even more divine. There was also a red spicy tomato sauce which was good, but green sauce is definitely better. Overall, loved the experience and will definitely go back to try a different pizza flavor! read more

My favorite pizzas, and my favorite ones are the ones with corn super friendly staff even gave me an extra slice. There are couches with a tv and piano if you want a comfortable at home experience. Highly recommended :) read more

Honestly, I love Sliver! I think it is such a welcoming environment and the food is always great and on point. The workers are always so friendly and serviceable. Along with this the restaurant is always very tidy and neat! Overall I think this should be a go to spot if you're in the area! read more
