Sliver pizza rivals Cheeseboard and I love Cheeseboard so I was excited to try this. Somehow when I went to Berkeley, Cheeseboard was doing a corn pizza, and the following day Sliver was! I bought Sliver to take home on my road trip down to SoCal. I didn't eat it until a few hours later in the car, and I thought it was good. The next day I reheated Cheeseboard and Sliver and I ate Sliver first. It was a solid pizza, but Cheeseboard still takes it for me because Sliver's cheese blend just isn't as good. The pros for Sliver are that the wait is short so you're only expected to wait 10-15 minutes while the Cheeseboard line is long, but they move fast. Also, don't expect Sliver's green sauce to taste like Cheeseboard. It tastes more like salsa and isn't spicy either. Their red sauce is good too! My first time here, happy to report that they do give extra slices at this location! I heard they don't at the EB location. It was a bit crowded on Sat night but not too loud and was still able to snag a table. The green sauce is really good (almost like chimmichurri?), the orange had a sweet spicy kick to it. As a result, they provide the sauce in these tiny containers and limit how many you can get depending on how many slices you order. I have been a customer at Sliver for the past ten years, back when I was a college student (has it been that long?!). Their original location was in downtown Berkeley, and their prices were always so affordable for my budget. I also enjoyed the live music. Later on as they expanded to multiple locations, I particularly enjoyed eating at the Telegraph location given its proximity to campus and large amount of seating. Overall, the pizza is good. I like eating it with the Dang Butterscotch Root Beer. Each location might have a different pizza of the day, so if you're picky regarding your toppings, I recommend looking on their website for each location's menu. I particularly like the pizzas with corn toppings. An area for improvement would be for the roasted cremini mushroom recipe, which in my opinion is a bit too oily. Had the chance to finally try Sliver and boy was it amazing. We had just finished a long hike and after wanted a quick bite to eat - and Sliver was just perfect. This was my first trip this far into the Bay Area. I was staying at a hotel near this place and I had just flown in from LAX. With the hotel bar restaurant closed I decided to go scavenging for food. It didn't take long to find this gem. I walked in 17 minutes before they closed so I just asked for 2 slices of pizza and a watermelon cooler drink(freshly made). I got to the room to find 3 loaded slices and the drink was out of this world. The pizza was loaded with bell peppers, feta, cheese and Italian sausage. The drink was really refreshing and an excellent addition to the heavy pizza. The light in the restaurant was kinda dim, eating here on a date would probably be really cool. Terrible place with bad staff leave your experience to be catastrophic. We had visited here over 50 times and we needed to go use the bathroom and we were going to order the pizza after we used the restroom. The staff guy was so rude he physically blocked us as we were going to the bathroom. The staff made us feel like criminals and interrogated us as to whether we will actually buy something. They said "Restrooms are for customers only" very rudely! They treat you like you are trying to defraud them and disregard the fact that we actually had purchased 100s of pizza from them honestly! Finally got to try Sliver! Their pesto sauce was sooo good, and the pizza was also bomb. I didn't mind that there was no meat in it. A slice (came with a small sliver slice) is $3.25 which was enough to fill me up along with some boba. But get two slices (or a half pizza) if you're a normal eater or want some for later, you won't regret it!! A common question is that is Sliver better than Cheeseboard? Personally, I liked the vibes at Cheeseboard better precovid (they had live music and all when I came). But since it's takeout only right now, that doesn't really matter. I thought the pesto sauce at Sliver was better than Cheeseboard. Also reached out to a friend who was once a frequent customer at both locations, and he said it depends on the toppings for that day (which you can check on their websites). Bottom line, they're equally good and you can't really go wrong with either one. A bonus for this location is that it is walking distance from Gypsy's as well as TP Tea, so me and my friend were able to be efficient and got all three for takeout!
