San Francisco has great places to eat pizza. There is a pizza parlor for each neighborhood. Having tried the majority of the pizza spots in San Francisco I decided to go to Berkeley. The city of Berkeley has brought good pizza recently to San Francisco like Rose Pizzeria. Going to Berkeley I have experienced great pizza places which are not located in SF. Berkeley has some great pizza places such as the Cheeseboard , Pizzeria da Laura and for the best Chicago style pizza at Zachary's Pizza ( actual fresher ingredients than most of Chicago )which both have no locations in SF. There a different pizza spot in Berkeley which serves fresh pizza with local ingredients and there is no spot in SF and it's called Sliver pizza. On a Summer day stroll in the sun in Berkeley I landed at the Telegraph Avenue. Inside there are plenty of seating and they do not accept cash. I ordered their POD also known as Pizza Of the Day. It had the Mushroom, red onions, green scallions , and it had a lemon zest which was sour like some in SF. It was a little cheesy and the sourdough crust was soft. It was tasty and you can taste the field to table ingredients in the pizza. They also have interesting pizza like the Cherry Corn Pizza like I saw on my social media feed. When in Berkeley you must try Sliver Pizzeria. Go to Berkeley for this is a "must" because they have a sourdough "crust" is a "plus" it's not too cheesy and very delicious and leaves some pizza places in SF in the "dust" This pizza place is to eat inside , pick up, and they do "deliver" I rate it more on gold standard side than "silver" fresh ingredients from the "Salinas River" at a pizza place in Berkeley on Telegraph called "Sliver"
Fast service. Fresh ingredients. Always satisfied. The pizza of the day changes daily and can be found on their website. A few steps from Downtown Berkeley Bart station is Sliver Pizzeria. With two slices, you usually get a free half of a slice (sliver). Perfect for brunch, lunch, dinner or breakfast leftovers. Crust is thin with an airy crispness. Toppings are abundant, fresh and so incredibly satisfying. The green sauce puts it over the top, elevating the toppings flavor that much more. I have never gone wrong stopping in and enjoying a slice or two, unlikely you will either. You can stay and eat or take it to go. Either way you have it you will most certainly enjoy!
This was my first time here. At the same time, quite a few choices and ways that you could order Pizza. I didn't really see any of the old school, regular kinds like pepperoni or combination. The pizza hustle selections were very creative. I ordered the Mushroom Pizza -2 slices. It came with 2 slices and what they call a sliver. It was a pretty good amount of food for $8. My Pizza was pretty tasty. I would definitely go again and try something else off of the menu.
Pretty good pizza! Their signature extra slivers are pretty large additional portions which was nice. I liked that the crust was thin, but the slice overall felt a bit greasy and not as refined/clean. It's a good spot with fun rotating flavors though!
We visit Sliver whenever we come to Berkeley and it never disappoints. The pizza is always hot and fresh and the flavors are great! Previously I wouldn't have liked that you only have one pizza flavor to choose from, but they've all been great and with the green sauce, even better! The service is always fast and friendly, though I will say we tend to pop in during odd hours of the day (like mid afternoon) so it's never crowded when we go. The interior is clean enough and pretty spacious. A good place to hang out with friends and enjoy some pizza.
Had to come here when visiting berkeley. I've always ordered from the store on shattuck so this was my first time here after graduating years ago. I was psyched that the slice of the day had both corn and potato - the 2 pizza toppings I realized I loved after having them on a sliver's pizza. Sad that they just give you a tiny container of the green sauce now. I remember filling a cup up with that stuff before in college. Delicious as always.
Quick service and great pizza. Similar to cheese board in the sense of one type of menu offering per day. Got the corn pizza and it was great. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area, the wait on a Saturday wasn't long there was no line and only took about 5-10 minutes for a whole pizza. Expensive though for a pizza ($30).
Corn pizza! This spot really shines in its daily different ways pizzas with fresh ingredients! There's no line to wait and the whole pie comes out within minutes. Service is kind and will give water cups. It's a causal spot and spacious restaurant with table and booth seating!
I've been going to Sliver for over 10 years and would have considered myself one of its biggest fans. My friends and I used to plan our days around coming here because it was one of our favorite places. Today was honestly heartbreaking. The quality has completely collapsed. The pizza was so limp it literally folded over under its own weight, and I couldn't even finish my slice. But the bigger issue is that Sliver has abandoned the concept that made it special. Instead of the creative, thoughtfully crafted pizzas that made people love this place, the menu has been filled with literal slop. Nobody I know comes here anymore because it isn't the same restaurant we fell in love with. It's sad to watch a Berkeley institution lose its identity. I genuinely hope management listens to longtime customers and gets back to what made Sliver special, because in its current state I can't recommend it less.
Sliver never disappoints! Fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly, extra cheesy, and full of flavor! We love the corn and asparagus toppings as well as their mushroom pizzas. You can't forget the green sauce either. Staff was super friendly and they had cute holiday decor. We will be back!
a berkeley classic! their green sauce is amazing as always (and I don't usually like cilantro). I ordered a slice of the daily special as a snack and of course it came with a sliver! I personally love it when their pizza comes with corn (their menu rotates daily) and FYI all their pizzas are vegetarian. Sliver reminds me of Cheeseboard but is more conveniently located near campus/southside. Usually my friends and I would order a whole box and share the whole thing. Service is very fast and you bus your own table.
You don't have to stand and hold up the line anymore because there's only one pizza option on the menu. The staff is friendly and they'll get you your order in about 5-10 minutes. Plenty of seating, such as tables, benches, or a couch. The pizza will come with green sauce, which you can feel free to smother all over your slivers. The green sauce provides some freshness and acidity to the savoriness and cheesiness of the pizza. A go-to spot for me in Berkeley.
Finally got to try Sliver! Their pesto sauce was sooo good, and the pizza was also bomb. I didn't mind that there was no meat in it. A slice (came with a small sliver slice) is $3.25 which was enough to fill me up along with some boba. But get two slices (or a half pizza) if you're a normal eater or want some for later, you won't regret it!! A common question is that is Sliver better than Cheeseboard? Personally, I liked the vibes at Cheeseboard better precovid (they had live music and all when I came). But since it's takeout only right now, that doesn't really matter. I thought the pesto sauce at Sliver was better than Cheeseboard. Also reached out to a friend who was once a frequent customer at both locations, and he said it depends on the toppings for that day (which you can check on their websites). Bottom line, they're equally good and you can't really go wrong with either one. A bonus for this location is that it is walking distance from Gypsy's as well as TP Tea, so me and my friend were able to be efficient and got all three for takeout! Intro: This was a staple to-go when I was in Berkeley and after I graduated, I still stop by when I'm in the area. At first, I was a bit wary of the vegetarian, one-kind a day market strategy, but I was sold. Food: I will admit, it is a bit greasy as most pizzas go, but it is a solid option nevertheless. I enjoy certain pizza toppings than others, so I usually check what the pizza of the day is before going. But regardless, you can expect a delicious cheesy pizza with fresh toppings. The sauce is a must-have addition! Tl;dr: A classic Berkeley staple - delicious vegetarian pizza! My personal rating: 7/10 read more

Best thin crust pizza hands down! Truly fresh and quality ingredients, definitely love at first bite! Make sure you get the secret sliver green sauce to dip the pizza in, it takes the pizza to the next level! Although they only offer 1 type of pizza a day, their website indicates it's is so they can keep their pizza ingredients ultra fresh, and keep your time in line to an absolute minimum. And I can see why!!! Every time I'm in Berkeley, the pizza of the day never disappoints! I love how's its a family owned and operated business and you can feel the hospitality vibe. Lastly, I appreciate how they have an important mission of ending human trafficking! Worth trying when you're in Berkeley!!!! read more

One of my favorite spots around Berkeley! I've been here twice and I can't wait to come more often. It's near Cal, so depending on when you come, there might be a struggle for street parking. I came on a Friday afternoon and didn't have much trouble. Everyday there is a different pizza flavor and you can look at their weekly menu on their website. I just wanted a quick lunch so I just got a slice which was $3.50. The slice was delicious, and came with 2 mini slices with it as well! They have a green sauce, which was my personal favorite, and a red sauce which was delicious as well and more tangy. Sliver has a sauce bar and water station where you can serve yourself and get as much as you like. The pizza itself was so good. Even without the sauce, my slice tasted flavorful, fresh, and delicious. The crust is super thin and crunchy. It was so good I wish I ordered more than one! read more

If you haven't been here before, Sliver, which first opened in 2013 and was founded by former Cheeseboard employees, is known for its daily flavors of vegetarian pizza, cutely adorned with tiny "slivers" on top and some green sauce. Their boxes proudly display part of their mission: to end human trafficking. For those with gluten intolerance, they do have gluten free pizza. If you're looking for heavier pizza, this isn't it! Their slices are thin and cheesy, and that green sauce has a spicy/tangy flavor. I'll admit I wasn't a huge fan the first few times I had Cheeseboard and Sliver pizza, but it's the kind of place that grows on you. Soon enough, you'll be craving that unique pizza taste. read more
I was visiting Berkeley after 2 years so I was looking up all the good food places in the area. Sliver came up so often so I knew I had to go. Little did I know that I would be so disappointed! I liked the overall concept of the restaurant where you have the "pizza of the day" as your main option (unless you want a classic cheese) and you can order a slice, 1/2 pizza or whole pizza. My group of friends and I ordered 1/2 pizza which was $14. The pizza of the day was roasted Yukon gold potatoes, Dino kale, mozzarella, Bulgarian feta cheese, lemon zest, cilantro, and garlic olive oil. Sounds interesting, right? Unfortunately, it was so bland and I couldn't even taste all those ingredients. I've had potatoes on pizza before but this pizza just didn't have any sauce or flavor! It was basically a flatbread when we were expecting an actual pizza. We even added the "famous" green sauce and the red hot sauce which definitely helped enhance the taste of the pizza but it just wasn't enough. Maybe we just got unlucky with the pizza of the day. I would consider giving this pizzeria another shot but the pizza of the day really has to sound amazing for me to go back to this pizzeria over all the other restaurants in the city! read more

Haven't been here in years. This is a new location with much more seating and room. They have a tv screen and a few couches as well. Unfortunately, in door seating is closed for the time being because of the pandemic but I can see how this place can be a chill spot to eat pizza. Sliver pizza is all vegetarian. Never in my life would I have thought I would love vegetarian Issa but this pizzeria always hits the spot. They make 1 type of pizza per day which you can find on their website. Every time I have been here, they never disappoint. Def. will come back again if around the area. read more

The pizza here was really unique and tasty. There were no options to choose from as it turned out that they have a featured pizza for the entire day. The pizza dough was quite different compared to the other regular pizzas which I really liked. Not to forget the two different sauces that they served enhanced the flavors even more read more
I mostly come here on potato and corn days. The potato and corn has a very unique flavor profile with the addition of potatoes, feta, cilantro, and lime. The crust is really thin which I love. My only complaint is that this place is pretty pricey. If you're splitting amongst friends it's not too bad though. read more
I had some friends who told me about Sliver. I live in the South Bay and there isn't one. Currently, there are 2 locations in Berkeley and 1 in Oakland. Soon, there will be 1 in Fremont, which thankfully, is a lot closer to me. I've been to all 3 locations. My favorite is the Oakland shop, but only because the parking is close and abundant there. Other than that, they are pretty much all the same. The concept of Sliver is pretty simple. They have 1 "flavor" of pizza every day and it varies at each location (same goes for the salad). You cannot make any topping changes whether you want to add or subtract anything. They also sell plain cheese pizzas every day. The pizzas also come with a small container of green sauce and red hot sauce. I don't know exactly what's in the green sauce, but I love putting it on. So much so, that sometimes, I'll even buy a bigger one. While I have been to Sliver 5 or 6 times, I usually only come when they're making one flavor. It comes with Corn, Roasted Yukon Gold potatoes, Mozzarella, French Feta Cheese, Cilantro, Garlic Olive Oil, and Mexican Key Limes. The other flavors look good, as well, but if I'm making a one-hour trip for pizza, it has to be something I know I'm gonna like. Maybe I'll try the other ones when the Fremont branch opens up. Also to note, they also serve half-baked pizzas, so you can finish baking at home. For this location, the area around the store seems to have a lot of parking. I paid for meter parking on the street. Also, if you have kids you are going with, be wary that the surrounding area smells of a certain plant containing THC. LOL read more

The pizza is SO DANK. The green sauce is to die for and must be added to the pizza. Fresh tomatoes instead of tomato sauce is so refreshing and feels lighter - a welcomed change up from the usual cheese or Margherita. one thing is not sure why this whole pizza is valued at $23 when it's just cheese and tomato. maybe i'm not used to Bay Area prices... came in just for a rave read more

We ordered a pizza of the day from Sliver. It was a potato and cheese pie with a white sauce. It came Luke warm from delivery, though that's not really their fault. The pizza was tough. Shoe leather tough. I actually hurt my jaw on a second slice where I had to yank off a chunk. It was really unpleasant to eat but tasted good if that makes sense. I think they horribly overworked the dough and had beaten it down and cooked it at too low a temp so the result was a dense and tough rubber plate that was covered in an otherwise great pizza. What was surprising was on re-heating the pie at 475F for 5-7min, the thing came back to life and was 10x better. Though once it cooled back down after 10min it had regained that shoe leather consistency... it's like the oil in the crust seizes up when cold and just makes the whole thing into a brick. We didn't hate this pie, but be warned if you have caps or crowns, as they could just fall out after the experience. TL;DR: Tough pie, good flavor. Find a good dentist? read more

Sliver is pretty much always good. I've reviewed the downtown location but quality among all locations is consistent. One vegetarian pizza every day, and I havent really had one that I did not like. This time was the tomato, red onion, and pesto one which was soo good. Im not sure what they do to it, but its somehow always amazing! My favorite all time has to be the mushroom and green onion one though. The green sauce is also a must-get, and pairs perfectly with the pizza. Only giving 4/5 stars because I do think Cheeseboard is better :') read more

Honestly I'm so surprised I didn't hear of sliver before. They have one vegetarian option a day with a list of what they'll be serving for the week. I'm usually not a fan of vegetarian items or even pizza.... but they make it so good I cant help but come back for seconds and thirds. They're located in the old pieology location, and it's always busy so make time to enjoy a slice or whole pizza. It'll be worth it read more

The pizza was so good here. It was very thin but had so much flavor in every bite. The green sauce that comes with it was a game changer. It tastes so perfect with the pizza. The restaurant was also very spacious so it's a great place to eat and enjoy with family and friends!! read more
Sliver is pretty much a carbon copy version of Cheeseboard (the story goes that an employee left Cheeseboard and started Sliver since they weren't getting along). Sliver has since opened multiple locations and have more flexible hours than Cheeseboard. You can check online to see what the flavors of the day are for each location! I came once right before they closed, ordered 3 slices and they were so nice they gave me a WHOLE box! Most popular is the corn one with lime and their green sauce is *chef's kiss* I drench my slice of pizza with so much of the green sauce.. I love sliver because it's thin slice and the flavors work so well with each other. Definitely a Berkeley staple if you are in the area!! read more
