Build Your Own Small Poke Bowl
    Dani M.

I came here for lunch with a friend and I have to say this is one of the best poke spots I've tried! Located in an alleyway, the hidden spot has surprisingly fresh fish in big chunks with average prices. I ordered on the kiosk and my order was made quick (I wish the employees called out when it was ready). The menu had some preset bowl options, but I always like a build-your-own; I was hoping for more sauce options, but the spicy mayo was good. I definitely would come back to try other combinations.

Quick and fast, order on machine. Would have preferred face to face interaction. It automatically selects 20% for tips, which seems odd for the lack of interaction with staff. Yummy and good portion size. Repeat customer.

The receipt shows being charged for a bag I never received. Carried all my food

they never give bags, yet the kiosk machine charges you automatically for bags! that is robbery!

YES. SO GOOD. Conveniently located for students, and quick order pickup through Snackpass. You can also order by kiosk inside. Lots of dine-in seating if that's what you're looking for. I got the medium bowl with brown rice and greens, salmon + spicy tuna + tofu, corn, kale, cucumber, sweet onion, green onion, imitation crab, seaweed salad, crispy onion, and wasabi+shoyu+house sauce for $16.65. And they give you enough options that you get abundant toppings without needing to pay extra. This meal was SO FILLING - lasted me two meals. Bang for your buck??? Not just for your wallet, but this bowl was also so satisfying for the soul - the ingredients were all good quality, sauces were super rich.

My go to place for yummy and reasonably priced poke! I always get the small bowl and the portion is perfect for two meals. The price is reasonable since you are allowed to add a lot of different toppings. Service is also very fast.

Loved this spot! We were hankering for poke bowl and stopped here for a bite. The restaurant is clean and bright. Most of the orders were pre-ordered and picked up. We ordered in and ate inside. So many options here! You can order one of their preset bowls or make your own. We opted to make our own and there are so many toppings! While eating there, my daughter's bowl was a bit dry, so she brought it back to the counter, and asked them for more sauce. Our lunch was good! We'll definitely come back when we're back in the area.

I'd say a medium will get the job done. 3 proteins for a medium and fresh ingredients are why I'd choose this poke place over others. I'd say the only downside is paying extra for using the kiosk instead of paying at the counter.

Poké Bar is a killer deal with Snackpass. The portions are huge for the price point and it's really good. ORDERING: I ordered on Snackpass and my bowl came out to be about $13 dollars for a large which was crazy. The ordering process was straightforward and there are many options to choose from. TASTE: Dope! The salad was crisp, the tuna and salmon were fresh, and the crab salad was great! The cucumbers were also killer too and added an extra layer of crunch to the poke alongside the sesame seeds and the other toppings on top. The corn was also nice and added a layer of flavor as well. PICKUP: The wait was really short and straightforward! Picking up was really easy and simple and the staff was really nice about it. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back to get my fix in Berkeley! Hint: Use Snackpass for a great discount and get poke with your friends!

Located in the telegraph alley right across the street from campus, poke bar is accessible and affordable. They have the best deals on snackpass as you only need 10 points for a free bowl, which means if you go with a friend, you can redeem it every 5 visits; in my humble opinion, that's a steal! Poke bar also has good sauce combinations and fresh toppings that always hit the spot. I have noticed the quality decrease slightly over the past year and there's always a funky smell in the store itself but overall a Berkeley student staple if you love poke.

Decent poke bar tucked right near Berkeley's center of campus! It's slightly hidden in a hallway, but is a small little place. Good: The ordering process is very streamlined! You use a paper form and mark off what you want. It's great that you can get unlimited options for some things. I found the portion sizes here great. I liked the salmon and the spicy tuna poke the most, and appreciated the dry onions on top. Bad: The sauce is somewhat unevenly distributed, I couldn't find the sauce on some sides and too much on others. Overall enjoyed my experience!

I'm a repeat customer and liked my food, but today I spotted a bug crawling out of the mixed greens in my bowl. Gross! Ruined my appetite and desire to ever visit here again.

The rice was soggy and too hot, making the fish warm. Unfortunately not the greatest poke experience I've had.

We ordered two small poke bowls. They were decent but pretty expensive ($18+) for a small bowl. At least it seemed pretty healthy.

I ordered a medium sized poke bowl ($20)and it was 80% rice and barely any real ingredients. It tasted good though.

They have a wide variety of protein options for their poke bowls. Not only do they have the regular fish options, they also have octopus and scallop! My favorites are salmon, hamachi and ahi tuna, so I chose those for my protein. They tasted fresh and buttery! I'm normally not a fan of crab salad but I decided to try it and I absolutely loved it! I chose ponzu, spicy mayo and unagi sauce for my sauces. Everything tasted amazing together! Not to mention, they also have Onigiris and appetizers! I got the Chicken Katsu Onigiri and Takoyaki. The Chicken Katsu Onigiri was deeelicious! The chicken was crispy and the cabbage slaw was refreshing! They paired perfectly with the egg and spam! Lastly, the Takoyaki was A-mazingg! I have made special requests, last minute, staff are great at trying to accommodate if they can. I definitely recommend Tokyo Fish Market to locals and those in surrounding areas. The prices are super reasonable. There is definitely no other place like it around here. Only con, parking, especially if you arrive the first few hours after they open. Their parking lot is small and tight, fitting three cars and ADA when you first enter and three to four cars before the exit. There is metered street parking directly in front and down the block, including across the street. It is about a 5 minute drive from the Gilman exit, make a left at the light right after Berkeley Bowl. I get off the Albany exit and ride down San Pablo so I can try to park on the same side as the market. If the weather is nice out, grab your wants from here, take a blanket (all have benches, availability limited) then drive to a nearby park for a picnic and play. Options include Aquatic Park, Cedar Rose Park and Strawberry Creek Park (5 min drive) to Berkeley Marina and Caesar Chavez Park (10 min drive with an off leash dog park onsite and a pathway circling the water). Enjoy!
