Oori Triangles was such a treat! This location is on Shuttuck Avenue. The restaurant is small but the service is quick. Everything is ordered through a tablet. This is a to-go type of business. They had many options and since we wanted only a small treat, we ordered two Onigiris. The Spicy Ahi Tuna was my order and it was delicious! The fish is fresh, and the sauce mix is creamy and flavorful, with a slight spicy kick. The amount of rice is perfect without being overwhelming. My husband has the Double Unagi and wow it came with a lot of Unagi! The unagi had a sweet teriyaki sauce that wasn't overwhelming. We were impressed with the amount of unagi it had. I usually get a box of 3 for a meal, which also comes with a side of edamame. These things are so filling, don't let looks deceive you. Very hefty. I like to eat my triangles with wasabi and a little soy sauce (you can get packets in store when you pick up your order). This place is like a hidden gem. I wish they had more fish flavors. I went with the spicy tuna, short rib and spicy chicken. The short rib was a little too heavy for me. Felt fatty and saucy. The spicy tuna was my favorite. The spicy chicken had a really strong kick! These triangles are very large in size, I could have done just 2 instead of 3. There was about two standing counters where you can either snack on your rice balls or gather some extra condiments and napkins! It is more of a grab and go type of store, and I had just found public tables near by to eat outside. There were about three kiosks to order from or you can chose to order at the cashier. Shortly after I placed my order the rice balls came out quickly. There was a good variety of rice balls and plates to choose from, and I had tried the Double Unagi, Grilled Salmon and Short Rib rice balls. Since I opted to order the pick your own 3 Rice balls, it came with a side of edamame. Of the three rice balls I would highly recommend the Double Unagi (double just means two pieces of unagi). There is an option for just a regular unagi rice ball, but I think the double is a must. The unagi was crispy on the edges and soft and delicious with every bite. 10/10 would go back just for the double unagi! The grilled salmon would be second place in my order, it was a bit dry and there wasn't a whole lot of flavor. 6/10 The Short rib, sounded the most appealing, but it just didn't hit as I thought it would, the flavor was a bit lacking and there was no sauce to add onto it so I would give it a 4/10. read more

The rice isn't salted, and it's not sushi rice either, it's just a rice.triangle...With your choice of topping, not filling. I walked past this place twice before I finally gave in, without checking Yelp first so I didn't know what to order. Ordering was via the iPad and payment was contactless, which was pretty cool, my first time not having to order from a person. Each triangle was ~$5, which is pretty hefty change but the toppings were significant and overall I'd come back here again. They do have other items that aren't rice triangles so check those out too. The short ribs were delicious, and the spicy pork was so good that my next order I doubled the portion. I haven't been to the actual store but ordered delivery. The food came out super quick and the presentation was also really nice. However, I think there was too much rice so the ratio of meat to rice was not balanced. I tried 5 different toppings and my favorite was the teriyaki chicken. It had a nice smokiness to it. My least favorite was the spicy pork, which was a little burnt and the spicy sauce went through the rice/ seaweed making it a mess to eat. I recommend getting the sauces on the side if you can. So excited that another onigiri restaurant opened in Berkeley! They just opened this week and the menu looks the same as the other locations' menus. I got the crab triangle and spicy ahi tuna triangle which were both tasty. I wish the rice were salted as is typical for onigiri because some of my bites were a bit bland due to the lack of seasoning. Oori offers a large variety of fillings and the packaging is perfect to take home or on a picnic. Note that the seaweed and rice are not separated so their food should be eaten right away before the seaweed gets soggy. The portion size is not very large and you'd need to order at least 3 triangles for a meal, which brings the total to typical Berkeley lunch prices ($10-$20).
